Maria Espinoza, National Director of The Remembrance Project will introduce the program and members of her new crisis intervention team.
Chaplain Ruth Johnston Martin, of CAREforce.us, is the widow of slain California Police Officer Don Johnston. Officer Johnston died in 2002 of complications from wounds he sustained in the line of duty, while responding to an incident at an El Monte, CA, bank in 1990. He was shot and rendered paralyzed by an illegal alien. Ruth is an advisory board member to The Remembrance Project.
Kendra Devor, Psy.D., of The Counseling Team International, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Dr. Devor has worked with individuals, couples and families, helping them to
restore hope, find solutions and transform their lives. Her personal experiences with military and law enforcement allowed for a seamless transition to working with the population.
Shelly Pinomaki, brings her renowned crisis intervention services to CAREforce.us. In addition to her extensive formal chaplaincy and trauma intervention training and experience, Shelly is a family survivor of one of the most extreme forms of trauma, the brutal murder of her beloved sister in 2011. Her experiences during that time led her to seek ways to transform how families are treated in the aftermath of tragedy.
To initiate outreach by either the counsellors or chaplains, victim families may call 1-800-222-9691, where mental health professionals are available to discuss individual and family needs 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Funding for the program will come from future fundraising efforts by, and on behalf of, The Remembrance Project.
