About Loyalty (Trump Didn’t Build the Wall)

With former vice president Mike Pence dropping out of the race for the GOP Presidential nomination, along with other also-ran Republican nominees who never had a chance, there’s a growing restlessness among Republican voters that the 2024 presidential primary is over. From Congresswoman Lauren Boebert to former Presidential nominee and Secretary of Housing Ben Carson, the pundits, commentators, voters are saying: “Everyone else needs to drop out. Trump is the runaway favorite.”

We have a free country with open contested elections, and every voter should have choices. The Democratic Party is witnessing more candidates jumping into their primary because progressives and even some moderates fear that Biden cannot get re-elected. Why should Trump expect a coronation? Second, as I have written before, polling is not voting results. I don’t believe the polls that show Trump ahead by double-digits. National polling means nothing. State polls matter a little more. And Ann Coulter has wisely pointed out that name ID often governs who wins these different polls five months to a year before the Iowa caucuses. When it’s time to cast ballots, however, the results often go a different way.

If Republicans can be honest with themselves, this election is far from over, and it’s a fight between Trump and DeSantis. If I were on the Florida Governor’s campaign, I would tell him to rethink the third debate in Miami with the other candidates. He should throw down the gauntlet and declare: “I will only debate Trump. Let’s make this happen.”

Another main criticism and talking point from Current Trumpers who blast voters like me is the question of loyalty. “You are not loyal! President Trump fought for us. They stole the election from him. You should be supporting him, giving him another chance! How can you turn on him and support someone else? DeSantis should have waited his turn. He betrayed Trump, after all the work he did to support his bid for Governors!”

Here’s what I have to say about loyalty.

Regarding DeSantis’ decision to run in 2024, no politician owes another politician loyalty pledges not to run for higher office. Ronald Reagan ran against incumbent President Ford in 1976, which was his right to do, and conservatives didn’t complain. No one elected to public office is guaranteed their charge just because.

As for myself, I am a citizen of the United States, but most importantly, I am a Christian—a Christian who would have never voted for Mike Pence, by the way, no matter how many Scriptures he quoted or how many times he told me about his wife teaching Sunday School, blah. My first loyalty is to my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

When it comes to politics, no politician deserves a voter’s loyalty. Elected officials have to earn our support, and even then, if we find a better candidate for the next contest, we have every right to switch our support to someone else. Just as an employer is not duty bound to hold onto any or every employee, so too we as voters have every right and prerogative to vote for whomever we want. I do not owe any one candidate my vote. The United States is a constitutional republic, not a dictatorship.

Another thing about loyalty: President Trump made promises, and he didn’t keep them.

We all chanted “Lock Her Up! Lock Her Up!” about Hilary Clinton. She bleach-bit tens of thousands of official emails, a major federal crime, and during the second general election debate in 2016, he promised to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate and prosecute her. A month after his election victory, he laughed off that promise. Right after his inauguration, he was actually celebrating her.

Now let’s focus on the biggest promise he didn’t keep, one that he is already backing away from.

He promised to “Build the Wall.” I remember during one 2016 primary debate, he talked about how he was going to “Build a big, beautiful wall, with a big beautiful door in the middle.” I could overlook the hyperbole in the second part of that sentence, but the point was clear: Build a permanent barrier to stop the invasion which is overwhelming our country.

Not only was he going to build the wall, he promised that Mexico was going to pay for it. Here’s his statement on the matter at his 2015 campaign announcement speech (Check at the 48 minute mark):

I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively, I will build a great, great wall on our southern border. And I will have Mexico pay for that wall.

Former President of Mexico Vicente Fox in vile fashion condemned that promise: “We’re not paying for that f---king wall!” We all took him seriously. But Trump didn’t build the wall. He repaired some sections of the wall, and he put up some barriers with barbed-wire fencing. But he didn’t build the wall. Trump would only crow in January, 2021 (eight days before leaving office, six days after the uproar at the US Capitol) that he got 45 new miles of wall built. That’s it?!

In 2023, Trump is launching the latest set of lame excuses: “I couldn’t legally build the wall and make Mexico pay for it.” Yes, he said that TWICE: see it here and here. In the second case, he talked about building “a piece of the wall.” Talk about dumbing down expectations! In sharp contrast to this weak waffling, DeSantis called out Trump on “rationalizing his failure.” DeSantis then pointed out what a number of pundits had shared in 2016: tax the remittances! Yes, Trump could have built the wall, make Mexico pay for it, and not need an act of congress to get it done.

Loyalty means nothing if someone doesn’t keep his promises. Trump doesn’t deserve ours. He didn’t keep his promises, folks, and twice in the last month, Trump has made excuses. Where’s the loyalty to us, Mr. Trump?

Rep. Bob Good: A New Speaker Has Been Chosen

 

This week, Republicans elected Rep. Mike Johnson (LA) as the 56th Speaker of the House of Representatives. Mike Johnson is a true conservative who will fight for our values and priorities. He is a man of integrity, grounded in his deep personal faith. Speaker Johnson is also a strong leader who will stand up to President Biden, Democrats in the Senate, and the DC establishment. For too long, Washington politicians have put the special interests ahead of the American people who elected them. I believe that Speaker Johnson's election represents a renewed commitment by the Republican Party to do what we said we would do, when Americans trusted us with the House majority a year ago. Speaker Johnson has spoken of seven core principles that define the conservative Republican agenda: individual freedom, limited government, the rule of law, peace through strength, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and human dignity. Speaker Johnson immediately went to work after being sworn in. His first order of business was passing a resolution condemning the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel and supporting the right of Israel to defend itself. We then passed our fifth of 12 required annual spending bills, and he outlined a schedule to complete the remaining bills before the November 17 temporary funding deadline. Meanwhile, Democrats in the Senate have yet to pass even one appropriations bill. With the changes that were negotiated in January during the previous Speaker battle, we now have a new leader who will be an honest partner in doing everything possible to reverse the harmful policies that are destroying our country and the spending levels that are bankrupting our children’s future. Meetings in Washington  I met with Esme Grewal and Daryn Demeritt of BrightSpring Health Services to discuss the Department of Labor’s proposed overtime rule that will massively increase costs for their company. It is yet another example of Democrat policies that are driving inflation and hurting our economy. In the Media I did several local and national media interviews this week to discuss the Speaker's race and what it means for the future of our nation. Hi Arthur, During the three-week saga of Republican nominees for Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, we’ve gone from “RINO B” to “Constitutional Champ A” to “RINO A” to “Constitutional Champ B.” So, who is new Speaker Mike Johnson? Well, he's not part of the RINO crowd!

This is a good speaker pick because the conservatives persevered and the RINOs folded! And thank you for your phone calls demanding a conservative constitutional fighter! Of all the Republican candidates for speaker this month, Mike Johnson of northwest Louisiana was the 5th-most conservative, receiving 74% on his Liberty Score, after Gary Palmer (80%), Kevin Hern (82%), Jim Jordan (94%) , and Byron Donalds (100%). Johnson known as a conservative constitutional scholar, who called for the arrest of Nancy Pelosi for destroying an official document.  Mike Johnson is a strong pro-life conservative and a strong pro-family conservative who has publicly opposed tyrannical “LGBTQIA+” activists. And because a strong suit of Mike Johnson is he's a leader for election integrity, and because he was a vocal opponent of the kangaroo-court “January 6th” committee and its sham “hearings,” we must lobby Johnson to release all on January 6, 2021 videotapes, commission a subcommittee investigation of election-fraud allegations nationwide, and investigate the due process rights being denied political prisoners in both Washington, DC and Minneapolis. We need aggressive, eye-opening investigations of the open border, the harm of Planned Parenthood abortionists and the “LGBTQIA+” agenda, the desperate need for medical freedom, and the absolute need to protect our God-given parental rights, religious rights, and small business rights. We also need to demand tough investigations and public exposure of the Bidens and the Deep State. Mike Johnson can deliver all this, whereas Kevin McCarthy was not our champion, but was, at many times, an obstacle. Colorado RINO Watch: The Case of Ken Buck

 This is a sad testimony on our politics today.

Tea Party conservatives get elected, and they turn into Establishment RINOs really quickly in Washington DC.

Look what happened to Adam Kinzinger, for example. He was elected in the Tea Party wave of 2010, and knocked out a liberal incumbent himself. Then, ten years later, he was selling out to curry favor with Democrats and the regressive Left of Illinois.

What a disaster.

And now the same disease of "Get Along to Go Along" has captured Ken Buck (R-CO).

October 21, 2023 Rep. CNN-Ken Buck earns this week’s spot on the RINO Wall of Shame.  He betrays his constituents with his votes on Speaker of the House and plays the victim when they complain.  He attacks grassroots Patriots seeking justice for January 6th defendants, he defends the Biden Administration’s weaponization of the DOJ.  And in general Rep. Buck seems more interested in getting a job at CNN than representing the people of CD-4. Weld County businessman Trent Leisy says enough is enough and steps up to challenge Rep. Ken Buck in the 2024 primary.   Not just no but “Hell, no” on Dems’ money grabbing Proposition HH.  It’s a misleading bait and switch, playing on concerns over rising property taxes but it’s really aimed at getting rid of Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights and by the way would also result in increased taxes.  Ballots went out this week.  And while you’re at it vote NO on Proposition II that would let money hungry Dem controlled legislature keep excess tobacco and nicotine tax dollars. Dr. Everett Piper [born 1959], a radio host and former university president, recently wrote a commentary titled What happens in Israel will not stay in Israel, with as subtitle Higher education in the U.S. has lost its moral boundaries. In the article a connection is made between Hamas militants in Gaza and the vacuous, sordid shape of American education.1    Barring a few, all of the nation’s first 123 colleges and universities in America were established as distinctly Christian by nature, origin, and purpose.   Dr. Piper writes, “This sad display of moral nihilism [in American education] should surprise no one. It’s been coming for decades and is a sobering reminder of how far our educational system has fallen.   “It may be a surprise to the elites in the media, but American higher education, from its inception in the 1600s until the end of the 19th century, operated within the context of a Christian ethos. The guiding philosophy was to propagate knowledge and to prepare upright leadership within a Christian society.   “The academy’s mission at that time was to promote moral development and civic responsibility. Theoretically and ideally, higher education was considered critical in maintaining our country’s moral order.   “Seven of the eight Ivy League institutions were founded in like manner. Dartmouth’s purpose was to ‘Christianize’ the American Indian tribes, and its motto, even to this day, is Vox clamantis in deserto: ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness’. The University of Pennsylvania’s motto was Leges Sine Moribus Vanae: ‘Laws without morals are useless’.”   The Founders’ lofty goals included Christian community, Biblical teaching, and moral education ... a derivative from Proverbs 1:7: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”   The sapiential building of the inner man, personal integrity, and morality in culture as the norm, coupled with an intense pursuit of Scriptural wisdom was prioritized as paramount in early American educational concepts, with at its core the premise that virtue is quintessential to freedom.   Spiritual wisdom, however, must be acquired as it is neither hereditary nor intrinsic. “Prize her,” urged Solomon to his sons in Proverbs 4:8, “and she will exalt you. Indeed, if you embrace her, she will honor you.” Proverbs 8:15 informs us that exalting spiritual wisdom, with its virtues of knowledge, shrewdness, discretion, counsel, and resourcefulness, equips “kings to reign and rulers to decree justice.” As per Bruce K. Waltke, it equips those who have submitted themselves to wisdom’s teachings to “high station,” “societal status,” and “public square authority.”   Unfortunately, for modern America this is no longer the case as our entire educational enterprise, in the words of Dr. Piper, “has lost any moral boundaries that confirm common sense, natural law, and intellectual sanity.”   Biological boys competing against girls at state track championships and swimming events is just the latest woke whim-wham of Inside-the-Beltway education bureaucrats. They publicly give pompous precedence to the sinister staples of cultural Marxism, including embittering America’s youth with Critical Race Theory, hailing homosexual and gender dysphoria, fomenting race division, and instilling into children hate of America and for each other.    Last week it was announced that high school ACT scores have fallen for the sixth straight year, notwithstanding the National Education Association’s $800 billion bureaucracy.2   Wouldn’t Christianization of the NEA be a better use of taxpayer money?

A general examination of the state of education shows that the NEA is driven by the fiendish pursuit of embedding feral values into the nation’s future: its youth.   We might contemplate Jesus’ parable of the unclean spirit in Matthew 12:43-45 to get a sense of what we believe ails contemporary secular education. To spell it out: the Warren Court [1953-1969] secularists banned Jehovah God from public education in 1962 [Engel v. Vitale] and 1963 [Abington School District v. Schempp], discarding Biblically based edification that was established by the American Founders throughout the 17th to 19th centuries.   As a result, the morally blemished spirit of religious secularism entered the [now idolatrous] institution and brought with it seven spirits more vile and wicked than itself. How else can one describe public education that defines oral sex, anal sex, sexual fantasy, masturbation, touching each other’s genitals, and vaginal intercourse to 13/14-year-olds as equal to saying ‘I like you?’   At what point is enough enough?   Regarding the subject of what happens in Israel will not stay in Israel, we like to add the following: In August 2005, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon traded land for peace with the Palestinians with a goal to improve Israel’s security and international status in the absence of political negotiations to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.   Hamas won the local elections in 2006 and has since then been in charge of the Gaza Strip and West Bank. What Israel received instead of peace were thousands upon thousands of missiles launched from nearby sites, and both Gaza and the West Bank turning into breeding grounds for terrorists.3   Hamas took a flourishing section of land that the Israelis had built in addition to the tens of billions of dollars gifted by the United States, the United Nations, and the EU. While meant for improvements based on codes and regulations, Hamas spent the money on armaments.   Wouldn’t Christianization of Hamas be a better use of taxpayer money?   Prior to Hamas, Gazans led normal lives under Israeli rule. Gaza and the West Bank in the 1970s “constituted the fourth fastest-growing economy in the world - ahead of such wonders as Singapore, Hong Kong, and Korea, and substantially ahead of Israel itself.” Medicine, electricity, schools, literacy - all flourished. They benefited from refrigerators and running water. However, as recently as 1967, Gazan school books taught arithmetic with problems like, ‘You have 5 Israelis. You kill 5 of them. How many Israelis are left to be killed?’”4   Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said last Sunday on Face the Nation that “Palestinian Arabs should go to Arab countries, the U.S. should not be absorbing any of those. They teach kids to hate Jews, the textbooks do not have Israel even on the map. They prepare very young kids to commit terrorist attacks. It’s a toxic culture and I think if we import large numbers of [Palestinians] to the United States, it [will] increase antisemitism [and] anti-Americanism.”   We concur.   America is entering a period where God’s wisdom conjoined with knowledge, discernment, and compassion will be required if we are to sustain freedom for our children and theirs. There will be much opposition, with American Christendom over the last 100 years shirking its responsibility and ignoring Christ’s assignment found in Luke 19:13: “Occupy until I come.”   We pray for spiritual leaders now entering the public square of America that they will "love Christ and the souls of men to the point of willingness to die for the glory of the one and the salvation of the other.
