Congressman Ted Lieu's Telephone Town Hall: Lying Ted!

Congressman Ted Lieu (D-Torrance, Santa Monica) can embrace every left-wing talking point and platform principle imaginable. This district is 45% Democrat and 22% Republican, and among the Independent and Republicans are a whole bunch of moderate, centrist, even liberal-leaning voters.

Congress District 33 is one of the most left-leaning districts in the country.

There is no escaping that fact.

It's also one of the wealthiest, if not the wealthiest.

Lieu's latest Republican challenger, Ken Wright, still took in 33% of the vote, so it doesn't mean that a more conservative leaning alternative cannot register with some interest or chances. We do have to embrace some difficult facts, though. Election 2014, and the district became an open seat. Ted Lieu ran against Republican Elan Carr, who embraced some liberal-leaning stances in an election year which heavily favored Republicans (they won 9 US Senate seats and gained more House Seats in otherwise blue areas). In fact, California Republicans gained seats in the state legislature, too!

Congressional District 33

At any rate ...

Congressman Ted Lieu has now gone full Leftist. He has to, and he can, since the district is right now so left leaning--or the right people (in both senses of the word) or simply not speaking out enough.)

The Daily Breeze informed the South Bay public that Lieu would host a telephone town hall tonight. I informed as many people as I could to call in. One friend in Hermosa Beach got in touch with me at about 6:30 (since I was at work at the time).

When I called in, I listened to the following uestions from three different constitutents.

The first one was in the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

She was actually trying to figure out what to say to her children since Donald Trump had become President. Right away, Lying Ted went to work.

He lambasted President Trump for calling news that he did not like #FakeNews. Frankly, the media was dead-set on tearing down Trump and any other Republican who ran against their chosen pick Hillary Clinton.

Let's talk about the relentless number of polls which showed that Hillary Clinton was going to win. Let's also discuss the number of smears from potential victims who claimed that Trump had molested them--they were all tossed.

How about all the revelations from Wikileaks? The collusion among the corrupt media and the DNC leadership was just unfathomable!

Why didn't the major newspapers or networks discuss any of this?

Lying Ted!

The second caller, who identified himself as a moderate Republican from Manhattan Beach, criticized Ted Lieu for his disparaging remarks of President Trump. He wanted to understand why he believed that it was OK for him to de-legitimize Trump, when Republicans across the country acknowledged Barack Obama as President after the bitterly-fought Presidential election in 2012.

I really appreciated that he described the judicial ruling on the refugee ban as a stay--there was no trial of fact or law to rule the refugee ban as unconstitutional. I applaud this man for bringing up a point of judicial fact like that a seasoned lawyer like Ted Lieu (Who graduated from Georgetown University Law School, I might add!).

Lying Ted!

Lying Ted!

Of course, Lieu tried to sound bi-partisan, claiming that he liked one thing about Trump--that he drew the United States out of the Trans Pacific Partnership. But then he claimed that everything else he is doing is wrong, bad, unworthy.

He has ended overseas funding for abortion with taxpayer dollars.

The economy is booming since Trump has a pro-business, pro-prosperity agenda in mind.

He has already rolled back sclerotic regulations. He has put Americans first, and directed federal interests to stopping illegal immigration.

He has done plenty good

Of course, Lieu characterized the temporary refugee ban as a Muslim ban.

No it's not. That is a flat-out lie

Lying Ted!

The third caller called in from Santa Monica. He wanted to know what Trump would do to stop Republicans from privatizing Social Security and Medicare.

That is a lie in itself, since there is no program on the table at this time or before to suggest this fraud.

Instead of challenging the premise of the question, Lieu went ahead and slammed Republicans as out to deprive working Americans from the programs that they had paid into. He then declared that he would do everything he could to protect social security.

Then he need to talk about long-term reforms which ease American citizens out of paying for these programs in the first place!

Lying Ted!

"No wait, this is what I meant to say!"

Final Reflection

This town hall lasted for one hour.

By the end of the hour, there were 450 people still waiting to speak with the Congressman.

Really!

Incredible. There must be a lot on people's minds. They must be terrified about what is happening to this country, or there are a lot of angry Trump supporters who wanted to give Lying Ted a piece of their minds.

Either way, I am glad that more people are paying attention and want to challenge or at least talk about what is happening in the country at this time.,
