Organization Director for MassResistance Runs for Office, Campaigns on Conservative, Pro-Family Platform

In left-wing Los Angeles area, Arthur Schaper’s run for California State Assembly shocked everyone!

An uplifting election story!

He got 10,000 more votes than previous GOP candidate - who had spent $1.5 million!

He got big endorsements, lots of support. He really angered the Left - and the squishy CA GOP!

December 7, 2020
ALT TEXT Arthur Schaper's campaign was bold and unapologetic - unlike most of the rest of the California GOP.

MassResistance Organization Director Arthur Schaper had not originally intended to run for the California State Assembly – or any public office.

But late last year a group of local citizens who admire his strong pro-family principles and MassResistance activism approached him and relentlessly urged him to do it. They raised the $1,104.00 filing fee to get him on the ballot. They found him an experienced campaign manager and treasurer.

So Arthur agreed to run. With limited but effective campaigning and very little money, he got 84,867 votes (about 37% of the total). This was over 10,000 more votes than the previous GOP candidate in 2018, who had spent $1.5 million, had a campaign office, a large organization, and campaigned heavily throughout the district.

How did Arthur do this well? We think it was because he has a strong common-sense (and pro-family) message – including opposing the LGBT agenda in the schools – that resonated with a lot of voters who were tired of the lunacy from Democrats.

Up against a terrible anti-family incumbent – in a difficult district

On paper, it’s certainly not friendly territory. The 66th Assembly District is known as the “South Bay” area of Los Angeles County. It includes Arthur’s home town of Torrance and extends along the coast from Manhattan Beach to Rancho Palos Verdes and east to West Carson. Not surprisingly, it is a majority Democrat area. With California’s legalized ballot harvesting, early voting, mail-in voting, and the usual ballot fraud, it’s become very difficult for Republicans like Arthur to gain traction.

However, the incumbent Assemblyman, Democrat Al Muratsuchi, is an enemy of pro-family conservatives. He’s voted for every anti-family bill in the Legislature. For example, this year, he was the tie-breaking vote in the Assembly to pass SB 145, which removed the sex-offender registry requirement for adult-child homosexual sex. In 2018 he was a strong advocate for AB 2943, which would ban counseling for adults suffering from unwanted same-sex attraction. (Luckily, MassResistance was able to stop that one from becoming law.)

ALT TEXT California MassResistance activists confronted Muratsuchi (left) at his public events about his support for the hideous bill SB 145.
ALT TEXT Protesting Muratsuchi's support for AB 2493 at his district office, in 2018.
ALT TEXT Reacting to Muratsuchi's explanation for his support for AB 2943 at an "town hall" event in 2018.

So people across the district felt that Muratsuchi needed to be opposed, and that Arthur Schaper was the best chance there was for that. Arthur continued his full-time work for MassResistance and did campaigning on weekends and occasional evenings. He always mentioned MassResistance when he was campaigning – and took strong positions on all the conservative issues of the day. His committee of supporters did everything they could, including texting over 60,000 people in the district.

Endorsement by Ward Connerly

One of the prominent ballot questions before the state in that election was Proposition 16. Back in 1996 California voters passed Prop 209 to end the leftist practice of race-based discrimination in college admissions and hiring practices in the state. University of California Regent Ward Connerly ran that effort and became a national figure. Liberals have hated it ever since. So this year the Left put forth Prop 16 to repeal it. (Luckily, that failed.)

During the campaign, Ward Connerly was so impressed by Arthur’s bold stand against Prop 16 (and on other conservative issues) that he publicly endorsed him! (One of Connerly’s staff members has now become a MassResistance activist!)

ALT TEXT Ward Connerly was outspoken in his support for Arthur's candidacy!

Other key endorsements

For 20 years The National Rifle Association had not endorsed any Republican candidates in District 66 – because they were soft on the gun issue. But this time the NRA strongly endorsed Arthur!

ALT TEXT Endorsed by the NRA.

Torrance City Councilman Aurelio Mattucci, a strong pro-family advocate, publicly endorsed Arthur, along with Hector Gastelum, the Otay Mesa Water District Director.

Torrance City Councilman Aurelio Mattucci is a major figure in local politics. His endorsement of Arthur was a big deal!

The slimy California GOP would not endorse Arthur!

In recent years Arthur (along with many other California conservatives) has been very vocal about the leftward lurch and moral corruption of the California State Republican Party. Many have described the CA GOP as having been largely taken over by “the establishment consultant class.” In particular, they have caved in on the LGBT agenda and other pro-family issues that are important to the grassroots. (Republicans in other states will surely recognize this!) Arthur has loudly called them out on that – and they really don’t like him because of that.

For example, Arthur was president of the Beach Cities Republicans, a local GOP organization. The CA GOP warned the membership that if they re-elected Arthur as president they would revoke the group’s charter! They elected Arthur anyway. And their charter got revoked!

The Beach Cities Republicans elected Arthur president TWICE - against the threats of the state party!

The CA GOP also tried to pressure local GOP groups to “disinvite” Arthur from speaking during his campaign – but none of them complied! Arthur is clearly popular among local Republicans.

Great support from his church!

Arthur belongs to a church that most people can only dream of! The pastor is a strong social conservative and not afraid to talk about the issues – and take action. The pastor openly endorsed Arthur and had him speak at the church several times during the campaign.

Arthur definitely has a gift for speaking clearly and powerfully on political issues. Here are two of his speeches before the congregation:

Arthur’s speech at the church on October 8, 2020

Arthur’s speech at the church on October 22, 2020

ALT TEXT Arthur, along with his pastor (left), addresses the church congregation about the issues before them in his election.

A vicious hate campaign against Arthur – but he fought back!

Not surprisingly, the left-wing radicals in the district became unhinged when they heard Arthur was running for the State Assembly with an unflinching pro-family and pro-America message. They went on a vicious social media rampage against Arthur.

ALT TEXT A left-wing wacko named Alexandra Lynn led a social media campaign against Arthur. But people also defended him. Below, one of the many memes that Lynn sent out against Arthur.
ALT TEXT

As we’ve all observed, these are very disturbed people, as exhibited by their obsessive hatred and inability to deal with issues rationally. Most pro-family people cower in fear when these attacks start to happen, and worse, pull back on their principled public stands. It’s really pathetic to watch. But not Arthur Schaper. He fought back. And it worked. The leftist radicals are the ones who began to cower and shrivel away. Arthur knows that these people – who love to be “bullies” – are really cowards inside.

Here’s an example of Arthur’s successfully fighting back at one of his rabid attackers.

Final thoughts

Although Arthur didn’t win, he got more votes than any of the “experts” predicted was possible. He was a first-time candidate in a hostile district who only raised about $4,000. He had a small group, and was opposed by his own state party. But his unflinching and fearless conservative pro-family message won support that was far greater than his reach!

In short, Arthur did the opposite of what most of the GOP does. And it got surprising results in a normally inhospitable environment. This should be a lesson for the rest of the Republican Party – and for conservatives everywhere!

Despite Setbacks, the Fight for Our Constitution—and Constitutional Carry—Continues

Ending her last year in office, Oklahoma Governor Mayor Fallin signed off on conservative, essentially non-controversial legislation, including bills that would allow the placement of the Ten Commandments on public property. That’s fine, since there is no clause in the United States Constitution which requires an arbitrary wall of separation of church and state. She also signed off on legislation to defend adoption agencies’ right to decline release of children to certain guardians for religious reasons. Christian adoption agencies should not have to compromise their views on natural marriage or biological/gender identity.

However, one of her few vetoes included SB 1212, legislation which would enact constitutional carry in the Sooner State. This was a bitter disappointment. Sadly, this basic right could not have come soon enough for Second Amendment activists and concerned citizens in general. The bill passed by veto-proof majorities, too. Oklahoma legislators went into recess for the rest of the year one day after passing the bill. With two-thirds approval, the legislators could call for a special session (there’s no way that Fallin would call a special session to override her veto), but that outcome for that extraordinary measure looks quite unlikely.

Even though this unnecessary delay on constitutional carry was a sad setback, one which shouldn’t be surprised, especially for those following Fallin’s pragmatic (read “Establishment”) streak. This Second Amendment reticence has gripped a number of states with GOP trifectas or GOP legislative supermajorities facing a Democratic governor. They still won’t get this common-sense reform passed into law. Republicans control both houses of Congress and the White House, but the US Senate won’t move on national reciprocity at all (H.R. 38, Hudson), either. There’s still time, Washington D.C., and the rising chorus of federal lawmakers demanding that GOP leaders forego the August recess has grown. Will they summon the courage for one more legislative sprint to get national reciprocity on the books?

But let’s get back to the Oklahoma failure, OK?

What gives? Why would ruby-red Governor Fallin drop the gun on this winning reform? Her press release was the usual “I support the Second Amendment, BUT” pablum:

“Oklahomans believe that law-abiding individuals should be able to defend themselves. I believe the firearms requirement we currently have in state law are few and reasonable.

Of course Oklahomans support the Second Amendment. The supermajority of their legislators pushed the legislation through, responding to the will of their constituents and heavy lobbying from pro-Second Amendment groups. The expansion of any right goes beyond the reason of elected officials or popular masses. It’s a natural right enshrined in the United States Constitution: “The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” What’s the point of a right which faces numerous hurdles, exceptions, and loopholes? No government has a right to stymie that.

Senate Bill 1212 eliminates the training requirements for persons carrying a firearm in Oklahoma. It reduces the level of the background check necessary to carry a gun.”

These concerns are tiresome and misplaced. A firearm is a tool—for protection, sure, but a tool nonetheless. I don’t need a license to purchase pepper spray, or to cook in my kitchen or going swimming in the ocean. Furthermore, more people die from poisoning or in vehicular accidents than from firearms.. Do states pass licensure requirements to cook in the kitchen or go swimming, since there is danger and possible death associated with those scenarios, too? The main counter-argument  focuses on state requirements to obtain driver’s license. If people want to drive a vehicle on their own property, they wouldn’t need a license, but since motorists are 99% likely to use public streets and highways, the state governments have the right to require drivers to use public property and engage in public use. Besides, the United States Constitution does not establish a right to drive a motor vehicle, and the states retain the right to regulate that privilege under the 10th Amendment.

As for carrying a firearm, the greater danger lies with the criminals who run guns and commit other crimes. A training requirement is not going to prevent bad people from getting guns, but it certainly slows down law-abiding citizens from exercising their God-given rights.

“SB 1212 eliminates the current ability of Oklahoma law enforcement to distinguish between those carrying guns who have been trained and vetted, and those who have not.”

Fallin’s “law enforcement” excuse draws from concerns raied by police agencies like the Oklahoma City Police Department. Some Republican leaders are so beholden to law enforcement leaders and unions that they will compromise on individual rights. I spoke with two deputies in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department about limits on firearms protection and concealed-carry laws. In California, individuals cannot carry weapons of any kind into a city council meeting, a restriction which oftentimes placed my fellow activists and me in a precarious position. Left-wing thugs don’t care about such rules. Why couldn’t we carry a firearm if properly licensed? I sounded off on my frustration with the “may-issue” mentality in California.

The LA County deputies’ response floored me: “We don’t like guns. We would prefer that people didn’t have concealed-carry.” My reaction to that remains: to hell with your preferences! The Second Amendment is a right, regardless of the ideal conditions or limitations desired by law enforcement. Again, the best defense against a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun—and a good guy who is not afraid to use it. Such was the failure of the Parkland High School scooting, which provided a convenient excuse for Iowa and South Carolina’s legislatures to stall efforts on constitutional carry this year, too.

Next year should promise victories for constitutional carry. Oklahoma will have a new governor, most likely a Republican, and all the current contenders urged Fallin to support constitutional carry. Other states will have gotten past the media frenzy following the Parkland massacre—hopefully. The fight for full restoration and exercise of our Constitutional rights—including constitutional carry—continues.

Keith Hardine: Want More Gun Control? Encourage More Self-Control

WANT MORE GUN CONTROL? ENCOURAGE MORE SELF CONTROL
By Keith Hardine
Self Defense Consultant

On MSNBC Live-2/22/18, at 9:48am ET DANA LOESCH (at CPAC) said:

“I want you to all ask yourselves where are the stories about how 38 states submit less than 80 percent of criminal convictions to the background check system? It's only as good as what's submitted to it.

The murderer in the Charleston shooting was able to pass a background check even though he was a prohibitive gun possessor, because as former FBI director James Comey said, “They made a mistake. It was a paperwork error.” In Sutherland Springs, this mass murderer was able to go and mow down a church full of people why? Because the Air Force did not report his conviction.

* Source: At CPAC, Dana Loesch Demolishes Hypocritical, Gun-Grabbing Media, & Two-Faced Politicians.

I think that the same argument of bureaucratic incompetence applies to illegal immigration regarding Sanctuary States like California, where many local, and State Officials continue to pass legislation to “shield illegal aliens, including those criminally convicted, from federal detection and deportation while giving them new rights and benefits. And most controversial are measures like California’s SB 54, barring local law enforcement agencies from detaining people for the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) if they are arrested only for a minor offense and otherwise eligible for release from custody.”

Our institutions of Government are becoming more destructive, rather than protective of these ends. In California, Progressive-Liberal logic says that teachers are not allowed to shoot back if under attack, and criminals face no mandatory sentence enhancement for using a gun in carrying out an attack. Governor Jerry Brown did this at the same time that he signed Assembly Bill 424, making it illegal for teachers to be armed on K-12 campuses for self-defense. Senate Bill 620 removed the mandatory enhancement for using a gun to commit a crime from the Penal Code and placed it at the total discretion of the judge presiding over the case, and there is no telling what the outcome of that might be. One might as well conclude that the California legislature and Governor Brown have made it illegal for teachers to be armed in schools for self-defense.

The ChicoER confirmed that, “...on the one hand Brown and the Legislature make it more difficult for a teacher to protect children against gun-wielding criminals, while on the other they reduce potential penalties for gun-wielding criminals.”
* Source: Gov. Jerry Brown Signs Bill Removing Penalty for Using Gun in Crime | Breitbart

The policies and laws just mentioned do not reflect our Founding Principles described in the Declaration of Independence—“that to secure these [Unalienable] Rights Government are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” I see neither Unalienable Rights, nor “the consent of the governed” being secured, or even being considered in any public policy that Democrats and some Republicans are pushing today, other than maybe a handful of conservative Republican caucus members, and  President Trump, who doubled down on his suggestion that “arming teachers could help prevent school shootings.”

On Thursday, 2/22/2018, he added that “those trained to use firearms should receive extra pay” as well. THIS IS A REVOLUTIONARY IDEA, AND A SOUND ONE IN MY VIEW! WHY? Because THE RIGHT OF SELF DEFENSE IS THE FIRST LAW OF NATURE, WHICH CANNOT BE ABROGATED BY ANY HUMAN LAW OF SOCIETY!

James Wilson, a Supreme Court Justice appointed by President George Washington himself, a signer of both the Declaration of Independence and US Constitution—I have no doubt—would have agreed with President Trump on this one. Wilson emphasized that:

“In a state of Natural Liberty, every one is allowed to act according to his own inclination, provided he doesn't transgress those limits, which are assigned to him by the Laws of Nature..."

Even the apostle Peter exhorted Christians in 1Peter2:13-17 to “use your freedom NOT as an excuse to do evil,” but to “Fear God,” and “respect the king”—or those who are upholding our Constitution, (Article IV, Section 4, & Article VI), which represents the supreme law of United States.http://biblehub.com/nlt/1_peter/2.htm

Teachers, who consider themselves subject to “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God,” and receive the proper training ought to step up and encourage more self government in our youth, which will come through a greater understanding—as stated by George Washington—of how “to defend their own Natural Rights of life, liberty and property; to discern and provide against invasions of them; to distinguish between oppression and the necessary exercise of lawful authority…to discriminate the spirit of liberty from that of licentiousness – cherishing the first, avoiding the last; and uniting a speedy but temperate vigilance against encroachments, with an inviolable respect to laws” that do not deprive good citizens of their Natural Right to Self Defense.

Wilson taught that because Natural Rights are based on Natural Law, they exist prior to Government. And human nature doesn’t change. It is because mankind is depraved that their needs to be available the means for good citizens to check aggressors who seek to destroy their Natural Rights. Protecting these Rights is the state's most important responsibility. But in no way does the state possess the absolute right to deprive citizen’s of their Natural Right to resist the aggressor.

Danny Tarkanian Calls Out Establishment GOP Heller: "Deceitful Dean!"

This is the kind of fighting that we need from our elected officials. We see this kind of fighting spirit more and more from primary challengers across the country.

Roy Moore encapsulated the power of the American people, men and women who are fed up with the Swamp dictating who wins and who loses.

We want the wall built.

We want Obamacare repealed.

We want to see illegal immigration reduced to a net zero, and we want American jobs, American lives, and American values placed as pre-eminent.

In no wise did we send people to Washington DC in order to represent a permanent political class more interested in their own interests while disregarding the needs of the American people and the dictates of the United States Constitution.

Dean Heller is a Swamp creature at this point. He is more interested in deceit than he is in operating as a straight shooter, to do what is best for Nevadans and to follow the outlined mandates in the United States Constitution. He repeatedly campaigned on repealing Obamacare. Now he is skittish about the whole affair. He supposedly railed against illegal immigration.

But now he wants to co-sponsor the BRIDGE Act, to provide legal status to illegal aliens while ignore the needs and concerns of law-abiding citizens.

His stark challenger is Danny Tarkanian, and he is not playing nice.

His latest eblast, he has come out swinging against Heller!

Arthur,
Did you see the email Danny sent out on Thursday about Deceitful Dean Heller?
Dean Heller is running scared after what he saw in Alabama: His favorite establishment Republican Mitch McConnell couldn’t buy the seat for the swamp dwellers in Washington DC.
So he’s resorting to deceiving and outright lying about Danny in an attempt to save himself from conservatives like us who are tired of establishment politicians obstructing President Trump’s pro-America agenda.
The reason we’re resending this email is because tonight is our end-of-quarter deadline when we will have to file our fundraising numbers with the FEC and it will be available for everyone to see.
We need to raise another $8,528 by midnight tonight in order to have the funds necessary to hold Dean Heller accountable and make sure that Mitch McConnell knows we’re not afraid of his DC money.
Thanks,
Team Tark

Subject: Deceitful Dean
Friend,

There's been nonstop coverage of Roy Moore’s victory in the Alabama Senate primary runoff. It's nearly impossible to turn on a television or open a computer without seeing or hearing something about it.

That's why I was completely taken aback when Dean Heller stated he hadn't heard who'd won.

“Who won? I wasn’t paying attention,” Heller told the Associated Press. “I’m just worried about taxes.”

He hasn’t heard who won? Is Senator Heller living under a rock? No...
He is lying through his teeth. Deceitful Dean Heller and his friends were heavily invested in this election.

Establishment Republicans spent a lot of money in an attempt to buy the seat back for Luther Strange.

Mitch McConnell pitched in $10 million to attack Roy Moore and Mo Brooks.

Additionally, Heller donated $10,000 out of his own Leadership PAC to help Luther Strange.

If you made a significant political donation, don't you think you would pay attention to the results of the election?

But the dishonesty and deception doesn’t end there.

He recently sent out a letter, that falsely claimed I received an “F” rating from the NRA.

This is a flat out lie. The NRA recognizes me as a strong defender of the 2nd Amendment.

They have given me an “A” rating. They both endorsed and financially supported my 2016 campaign.

Nevadans have had enough of Deceitful Dean.

I have overtaken him in the polls, and his approval ratings continue to tank, as more and more people get fed up with his dishonesty.

A JMC Analytics poll showed just 34% of Nevada Republicans have a favorable opinion of him and an astounding 48% have an unfavorable opinion.

Of course we do. It's understandable that people don't like Dean Heller when he lies to them again, and again, and again.

Let’s put an end to the deception and dishonesty in 2018. When I go to Washington DC, I’ll do everything in my power to make things more transparent.

I will never forget I am there to serve you, not the interests of Mitch McConnell and the Republican establishment.

Are you ready to replace Deceitful Dean with a US Senator that won’t turn his back on you and will tell you the truth?

Let’s send the establishment a message in 2018.

In Liberty,
Danny Tarkanian

PAID FOR BY TARKANIAN FOR U.S. SENATE

It's time for the DC Hustle to take a shuffle and get lost.

US Senators need to represent the best interests of the states, and protect the rights of the citizenry.

Let's hope that Danny Tarkanian can turn the populist outrage of Election 2016, and the upset of Judge Roy Moore of 2017 and Make Nevada Great Again!
