I understand that Donald Trump did some good stuff during his 4 years in office. Sure, we had a strong economy and we were energy independent. Yes, he appointed 3 new Supreme Court justices, And they repealed Roe v. Wade. But in the last two years he has denigrated the pro-life movement, and his Supreme Court justices have not been as conservatives as they should have been. Besides, there is more to conservatism than low taxes and cheap gas.
And you know what? There's a lot of stuff that he didn't complete, including the border wall, ending the birthright citizenship fraud, and cracking down on The Swamp. And there's some stuff that he started that was bad, like supporting the LGBT agenda, undermining Second Amendment protections, and increasing the national debt by $7.2 trillion.
Sure, he kept us out of more foreign wars, but he didn't get our troops out of Afghanistan. When crime was breaking out across the country, he posed for photos and tweeted "LAW AND ORDER!' Trump surrounded himself with sycophants who flattered him, then undermind him at every turn. He has still not learned the lesson that personnel is policy! He still calls RINO Lindsey Graham a friend.
We need a president who will make promises and keep them, and who is not afraid to take the lead and do what is right even when everybody else says that it's wrong. We need a president who is not afraid to use executive power and accomplish good ends. We need a president who has a record of success not just for himself, but for helping other Republicans and other good people getting elected. We need a president who has a broad vision not just to make America great again for four years, but who will restore America's greatness and attachment to our foundational beliefs and fundamental principles for years to come.
And above all we need somebody who has stood up completely to the health care-police state that was imposed upon us because of COVID-19.
And that is why I support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for President!

Further Embarrassment for the CAGOP: Even Wyoming GOP Gains Voters, and the Pacific Northwest GOP Makes Gains (But What About California?)
However, we know that from July 1, 2022 to September 1, 2022 the Republicans gained 34,719 voters and the Democrat and Unaffiliated voters lost 21,721 voters. So either way you read the data, cross-over voting had a huge impact in our Primary election and on Mark Gordon's final voter count.
I received this news from a conservative correspondent in Wyoming today.
The Wyoming Republicna Party gained 35,000 voters and the Democrats LOST voters. Doesn't that tell you something?
Let's work out the percentages on this:
Wyoming Population: 581,348
The number of GOP registrations increased by 6% in the state. That's considerable.
What about the California Republican Party, though?
Democratic numbers are increasing, and at a time when the Democratic Party's registration numbers are in freefall all over the country! In Florida, in New York, in New Mexico voters are switching to the GOP in massive numbers. In Virginia, Republicans are witnessing an unprecedented resurgence. Nevada is about to become a red state again across the statewide offices, including one of its US Senators as well as the Governor and other state offices.
But what about California? Our inept political leadership cannot even bother to register voters, aside from some middling bounty program, which means basically nothing, especially when a number of the county central committees have very few people attending them in the first place.
In Rhode Island, Republicans knocked out the Speaker of the House! In Hawaii in 2018, Republicans actually managed to GAIN a seat in the state senate. Sure, the new state senator is a RINO, but at least he opposed the noxious, abusive sex-ed programs that the Hawaii Teachers Association wanted to push on all of Hawaii's kids.
Republicans just won the city attorney's position in Seattle, Washington last year. In 2020, a Republican was re-elected as Secretary of State of the entire state of Washington! And this year, if the polling holds steady into election day, a Republican is going to be elected Governor of Oregon, a state which has not had a Republican chief executive in forty years! Polling also suggests that a Republican will be elected the next attorney general in New York State, too. And back to Rhode Island, it looks as though a Republican will be elected to Congress representing the Western half of the state, the first Republican in thirty years -- 30! -- to get elected to Congress from the hypermajority Democratic state.
These victories are incredible and unprecedented across the country. But they are a massive black eye for the California Republican Party, whose leadership seems conflict with managed decline and controlled failure, all while purging conservatives from central committees and shutting down serious conservative candidates for local, county, and statewide offices. At some point, will California Republicans have enough guts and resources to take back their party, or will they take the easier, softer approach and just abandon the state entirely?
Oregon is about to have a Republican governor--Let that sink in once again. And for four years previous to that, a Republican served as Secretary of state. California, are you embarrassed yet? California Republican Party, have you had enough with the perpetual losses or what?

CRA Drama: Torrance Lomita Palos Verdes RA v. San Pedro "Palos Verdes" RA?
I received this letter from the head of the Torrance-Lomita-PV Republican assembly. [See Bold Type below]
Apparently, there has been some growing drama among the different chapters in the South Bay section of Los Angeles County.
The statewide organization is allowing another chapter to open up for Palos Verdes and San Pedro, here in the South Bay. The problem, though, is that another chapter, the Torrance-Lomita-Palos Verdes Republican Assembly, worked very hard to add Palos Verdes to its jurisdiction. The bigger problem is that the state leadership is allowing this new chapter to emerge, even though the outcome will run rough-shod over state and local by-laws.
What I am starting to see from the CRA is the same kind of raw pursuit for more clubs, for more leaders, but no real commitment to winning elections or building a conservative brand to take back the state. The state organization is also not responsive to local groups, which want more flexibility when it comes to members joining the club.
Another question does arise: are the local chapters getting their money's worth for all the donations that they have to send to the state organization? Members pay $25 a member, and $10-15 of that goes to the state organization. But for what? What is it accomplishing?
If the statewide organization is not going to play by the rules, why be a member? If the state organization is not going much for local chapters and candidates, what's the point?
Here's the letter from TLPVRA President Scott Carter regarding the potential take-over of the Palos Verdes area to another assembly unity. Tell me what you think:
Dear Torrance Lomita Palos Verdes RA Members,
Currently our CRA President Johnnie Morgan, will be seeking members from our Torrance Lomita Palos Verdes Republican Assembly to be a member of the as-yet-to-be Approved "PalosVerdes San Pedro" CRA Unit.
Anyone may wish to be a member of that unit anywhere in California.
But here is the information for you to decide on:
Currently, their purpose is to just get members under the leadership of someone else and form a 'new club'.
And at the same time, he secured the same speaker slated to speak to the South Bay Republican CRA unit, before they were to meet, for 'his' other group, which was not respectful to them and in my humble opinion, unethical.
Now, undeterred by his previous conflict of interest behavior, he has been asked by CRA President Johnnie Morgan, VP Davina Keiser, SD (outside of her Senate District) Jo Reitkopf, to start a new Unit in Palos Verdes. This is despite the fact we are the only ones legitimately assigned to Palos Verdes in 2020. The fact they did not consult us on it, which says volumes as to the character of the leadership of the CRA.
Aside from that, you are free to choose if you would like to be a member
of their PVSP Unit should you decide to.
We will continue to have our Endorsements for Palos Verdes School Board and City Councils in the next meeting as well, since we have the sole jurisdiction in that area.
If you do join the Palos Verdes San Pedro Club, it is not approved
for existence yet or for CRA Endorsement of Candidates. Only the Torrance
Lomita Palos Verdes Republican Assembly is eligible and capable to
do so.
However the "Palos Verdes San Pedro Club" is meeting in TORRANCE
(outside of their 'Territory', which is against the CRA Bylaws(Sec.10) in order
to establish themselves as a CRA Unit. That is a violation.)
(But it has been violated before without repercussions by the leadership of the CRA.)
To be held at Mimi's Restaurant and you are expected to pay (our meetings are free)
for a meal ($15-20 minimum) to listen to Mr Shawn Steele (Spoke at our Group in January) and State Treasurer Candidate Jack Guerrero ( a dynamic speaker, but had schedule conflicts with us on two occasions).
If you do decide to attend the meeting they may ask you to switch membership from our Club to their Club. It is up to you.
BUT WE would really like you to stay with us to continue building our Club and continue to pursue our area wide goals for Torrance, Palos Verdes and Lomita.
Our newsletter will be coming out soon for our new meeting location,
NEW Time- 4:30pm to 6:30pm
Thank you for being a member of the Torrance Lomita Palos Verdes Republican Assembly.
Sincerely,
Republican Assembly,
CRA Senate Director District 24

Stupid Sales Tax Desperation? Five Mailers in Two Weeks
In the last two weeks, I have received five mailers with different endorsements and scare tactics telling me that I MUST, MUST, MUST support Measure SST, which will raise the city sales tax by half a percent.
If I do not support the sales tax hike, every core and essential service will shut down!
If I do not tax myself more on every purchase I make in the city, then the whole city will go bankrupt!
If I do not add to the inflation already crippling household budgets and forcing people to cut back on essentials, then life as we know it will end and the world will self-combust in a ball of fire!
Blah, blah, blah.
Councilman George Chen rightly denounced these scare tactics.
It's really insulting that the city staff and the city council majority forced the residents to even consider a tax hike, when so many of us are hurting because of the high costs of gas, groceries, and other goods and services.
How tone deaf, how out of touch can people be?
So, let's take a look at the five mailers which have flooded mailboxes throughout the city begging every voter to cough up more of their dwindling financial resources to the city:
Here's the first one I received:
"Every second counts!"
Yes, indeed, every second counts when it comes to emergency care. No one would dispute that. The argument, however, that we must raise the sales tax to ensure that the fire department and the ambulance services remain running is disingenuous at best.
Last month, I had a health emergency and called the fire department. They arrived on scene within two minutes. In fact, there are six fire stations in the city, and they are currently adequately staffed.
Also, there is already a $23 million reserve in the general fund (not $500k, as the Daily Breeze had earlier reported), and that fund is going to increase to $32 million by June, 2022.
We do not need the sales tax increase. No, we do not have to worry about health emergencies going unanswered if the sales tax increase does not pass.
Now, here's two more flyers pressing for the sales tax increase:
The SST committee is relying on LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn to make the pitch for this stupid sales tax? Really?
Who thought that this was a good idea?
Most people have no idea who their supervisor is, representing them in Downtown LA.
Second of all, so what if some other elected official outside of the city wants a sales tax increase?
This kind of advertisement is a bigger turn-off than a turn-on to support this tax move.
Let's cut through the crap here: Supervisor Hahn simply wanted to put her face on a mailer so that she could promote herself, and she wants to keep in good graces with the public sector unions in the city. She is a union whore, after all, giving the public sector union lobbies everything they want and then some, no matter how much it costs the taxpayers, and no matter whether the citizens get their money's worth for all the spending.
These two flyers were just an insulting waste of time, to put it mildly. Pure political opportunism and sex promotion, nothing more.
Here are two more flyers. The first one tries to appeal to everyone's sense of Torrance as a nice, home-town place where everyone belongs and everyone shares the long-standing history of the city:
Hey, it's a great map! It's a nice, glossy mailer that gets the reader's attention.
But guess what? I still don't want to pay more in sales tax!
Here's another flyer:
Yes, there is that headline "Every penny stays right here to keep in Torrance."
Actually, such a blunt, obvious headline does not inspire confidence. I guess a focus group or another poll indicated that people are more worried now than before about how the money will actually be spent, and whether it will actually stay in the city of Torrance.
The SST committee is not being completely honest here. There is no certainty that the money will be used for police, fire, or paramedics. There are no specific strings attached to the monies to ensure that they go to essential services. In fact, much of the money will likely go to pensions and benefits for retired workers, which means that the money will NOT stay in the city at all!
But regarding the fact that the money will not be earmarked to specific costs, the city will indeed have the full discretion to spend the new tax revenues on anything they want in the city. That does not inspire confidence to support this measure, even if all the money stays in the city.
When the city council was debating this matter, Councilman Mattucci offered to consider this tax measure if the ballot initiative made it absolutely clear that the monies would only be spent on police or fire. For that kind of initiative to pass, however, would have required a two-thirds vote of the residents.
There is no way that two-thirds of the city would support a tax increase, even if the money would be directly tied to specific essential services in the city only.
In fact, when the city council and staff were investigating how to raise revenue via a sales tax increase, they had initially consider a .075 percent sales tax! After polling on that issue, however, they realized that it would not pass. When they considered a .5 percent sales tax, their polling sample resulted in a bare 52% supporting the tax increase. Of course, all of that was before the price of gas doubled and budget-crippling inflation had set in!
This Stupid Sales Tax Committee has tried so many arguments to make their case. They have threatened residents that core services will suffer if they do not vote to tax themselves more. They have asked Supervisor Hahn to endorse the proposal, and they sent two tacky flyers promoting the self-promoting county politician to everyone in the city.
And now they are trying to assure everyone that the money will stay in the city.
Last of all, they have listed a whole bunch of politicians and city staff, retired and current, who endorse this proposal.
Check out the latest flyer that I received, with a whole bunch of endorsements!

"Street Racing Kills" is listed twice. What does the fight to curb street racing (which is a dangerous practice, to be sure) have to do with raising the sales tax? And why list it twice? Granted, the second list includes the director for the movement, but shouldn't the organization's endorsement alone suffice?
Oh, and the flyer lists Jimmy Gow, the abused President of the Torrance Democratic Club, as an endorser. This is the shameless, self-promotional politics that we got with the two previous flyers propping up Supervisor Hahn. Give me a break!
Oh, and Jimmy Gow is listed twice, too:
So, because a partisan activist who trespassed on a veterans hall, and went with minions who spit at veterans and stole their property -- he is listed twice on a flyer to endorse a sales tax increase?
What was the SST Committee thinking?!
This is desperation, nothing more.
Torrance voters need to reject this Stupid Sales Tax. One flyer after another indicates clear desperation. Frankly, the committee pushing this measure should be ashamed of themselves, considering all the economic challenges that Torrance residents are facing as it is.
The United States is facing a recession. The S and P Index just touched into Bear Market territory this past week.
The price of gas has skyrocketed, and it's only going higher. The price of groceries is going up by 20%, 30%, 40%. Business is slowing for many small business owners, too.
And with this perfect storm of econmic troubles, the city council and staff want to push a sales tax increase? And this increase is not even necessary, and it will only discourage commerce in the city.
Say NO to the Stupid Sales Tax increase.

Quittin' Cliff Numark: Torrance Needs a Mayor Who Will Stay in Office
This year, the voters in the city of Torrance will be selecting a new mayor.
Two candidates have emerged to run for the seat: Cliff Numark and Councilman George Chen.
One would think they both have considerable resumés, since both of them have served as city councilmembers, along with their long-standing reputations of service to the community.
However, there is one crucial, unmistakable difference between the two, and it makes all the difference whether the city residents should elect one or the other.
Consider this when looking all the mayors of Torrance, from the first election that the mayor's seat was elected at large by the voters:
Ken Miller
Jim Armstrong
Kathy Geisert
Dee Hardison
Dan Walker
Frank Scotto
Patrick Furey
What do all of these mayors have in common?
First, they were all sitting members of the city council when they ran mayor. Voters in Torrance have wanted mayors with some experience serving on city council.
No one really wants a neophyte for mayor who has to learn on the job. Working with colleagues before the public eye, considering the complexities of the city budget, the different relationships at work with the civil servants in city hall, and the political dynamics throughout the city require considerable knowledge and experience.
Moreover, the city is facing another set of hard times for the next three to four years, and the last thing that the city of Torrance needs is a mayor-in-training who will take at least a year to get used to the levers of power and responsibility.
To make it very simple, we need a mayor who already has on-the-job experience.
But there's something else to take into account with each of the former and current mayors of Torrance:
They all fulfilled that promise.
![]() |
| Quittin' Cliff Numark |
Except for one candidate: Cliff Numark.
Numark was elected to the Torrance city council in 2008 (he was the bottom vote-getter), and then elected to a full term in 2010.
Unlike all the other mayoral candidates and mayors once elected, Cliff Numark did not keep his commitment to the Torrance voters. He resigned in 2013 to serve on the El Camino College Board. He ran for that office and got elected, and then left Torrance in the lurch.
During the Seaside Homeowners Association debate on March 23, 2022, he argued that serving on the El Camino College Board would better serve the city of Torrance. Also, because state law prevented him from serving on two boards, he had to resign his position on the city of Torrance.
That is not an excuse, of course. Numark should have known well enough that running and winning the El Camino College Board seat was going to force him to resign his city council seat. That lack of commitment to the city of Torrance is really disconcerting.
It's been nine years since he served in any government capacity for the city of Torrance, and times have really changed. Sure, he helped other city councilmembers weather the fiscal storms of the Great Recession, but like many of his colleagues then--and as he asserts now--he has no problem raising taxes to restore city revenue. Furthermore, Cliff has shown that he is more ambitious than principled. Instead of considering the needs of the city, he wanted to take advantage of another political opportunity. Most people run for college board so that they can curry favor with labor unions and contractors in order to seek higher office.
Cliff cares about Cliff, and he has no qualms about quitting if it furthers his political pursuits. Torrance has had to deal with this dynamic already (think "Ted Lieu"). Torrance deserves better than another office-seeker looking for the highest bidder.
None of Torrance's eight mayors EVER broke their commitment to the city and its residents. They kept their promise when they ran for city council, and they kept their promise when they served their full term as mayor. None of them quit. They were engaged, they knew what the obligation was, they were active, they gave their time, and they were dedicated when making a promise to be Torrance's mayor.
None of them quit because they didn’t have the time. None of them quit because they wanted to take advantage of other opportunities along the way. For many of them, opportunities did pass by, but they rejected them: excellent job promotions, campaign bids for State Assembly, running for congress corporate jobs etc. None of the mayors quit.
Actions speak louder than words, and Quittin' Cliff has made his political career more important than the city and its citizens. His yard signs all over the city reasd "Former City Councilmember." That pretty much sums up his experience. He is a "former," and it should stay that way.
