Kansas MassResistance Gets Rid of Racist Book Club at Topeka Library

Kansas MassResistance activist shuts down local library’s “Racial Justice Book Club” – by politely pointing out facts and logical inconsistencies!

Book club used American Library Association’s radical guidelines to disseminate leftist propaganda.

Facilitators abruptly ended the club rather than include diverse opinions.

ALT TEXT The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library went radical - until a Kansas MassResistance activist stepped in!

We love to relate how one unafraid, clear-thinking person can make a big difference. Here’s how a MassResistance activist won a victory against toxic leftist lunacy.

Topeka, Kansas is not considered a hotbed of radical leftism. But as in many relatively “red” areas, the hard Left controls the public library system and uses it to spread propaganda.

One method for stoking the radical agenda is to utilize the far-left American Library Association’s guidelines and resources for creating public “book clubs” that affirm and ignite anti-American issues – such as the claim of “structural racism” – in the local community.

ALT TEXT From the ALA's radical book club resource page. Their term for them is "Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation" (TRHT) Great Stories Clubs.

Kathy, a fearless MassResistance activist in Topeka, is an attorney who has done First Amendment work. She was an English major in college and reads widely.

She’s also interested in where her tax money goes. So when the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library advertised that it was hosting a “Racial Justice Book Club” in conjunction with the (far-left) local YWCA that was open to the public, she decided to join.

A troubling introduction

From the start, the Racial Justice Book Club was different from a normal book club. Kathy described what happened when she first approached the head of it to ask about joining:

The facilitator I spoke with was very lovely when I first inquired. Then I told her that one reason I wanted to join – besides loving book clubs – was because I had a question to ask: "I often hear that our country is so racist and horrible to 'black and brown' people. But how can that be true, since people of color are the vast majority who risk everything to come here? If that were so, why would they stay and work here – and then send for their families too?"

In an instant, this woman changed from being nice and welcoming to downright ugly.  She glared at me and snarled:  "If you have questions like that, I wonder why you'd even want to join our book club!" Nevertheless, she couldn’t simply turn me away.

A gathering of leftists…and hard leftists

The club participants included about 10 people, ranging in age from their early 20s to 80s. On the surface, they were all very nice. But they were all on board with the club’s agenda. The younger ones, in particular, seemed unaware that there were any other than leftist opinions on the race issue. It was as if they had never heard that our country was essentially good and benevolent.

The club’s "facilitators" were key.  Both were young women (early 30s and mid-20s). One was an employee of the YWCA and the other worked for the library. For both, it was gospel to hate being white and frequently proclaim their guilt. But the creepiest thing, said Kathy, was that they regularly made vile remarks about Republicans, conservatives, and religious and traditional Americans – but in the most dulcet tones. They affected gentle smiles and soft voices while saying vicious things.

The meetings start slowly…

Interestingly, the books the club included were not pushing the facilitators’ hard-line messages initially. The classic leftist approach, which the ALA advises, is to start with relatively low-key subjects to instill the basic ideas, and then quickly raise the level to anguished and extreme concern.

As Kathy related:

For the first four months of the book club, they had benign lectures about different subjects as well as non-suspicious reading assignments. Some of the books touched on the subjects of minorities fighting for success in the early 1920s and 1930s in America. The discussions about prejudice seemed legitimate. They had a lecture on voting rights. It didn’t seem all that bad.

…Then the full-steam radicalism began!

Then came two books that showed the ugly racialism of the club’s intent. Members were assigned two books for reading and discussion: Beautiful CountryA Memoir of an Undocumented Childhood by Qian Julie Wang and Say It Louder!: Black Voters, White Narratives, and Saving Our Democracy by Tiffany Cross.

Beautiful Country describes how the author and her family fled Communist China and came to New York City in the early 1990s as “illegal” immigrants. She was a child at the time. The author ultimately received a great education and scholarships, and today is a well-known and very wealthy lawyer. Yet in the book she mercilessly derides New York and the U.S. She rants about the city’s unaffordable health care for poor people, the expense and scarcity of food (even bad food), working in sweatshops just to make a meager living, institutionalized racism against Chinese, public school discrimination against immigrants, etc. The message is that America is a terrible place for poor or non-white people to live.

The second book, Say It Louder!, is even more venomous. Author Tiffany Cross, had hosted a program on MSNBC called “Cross Connection.” She was very publicly fired in 2022 for her racist remarks that were too extreme even for far-left MSNBC! Among other things, she blamed statewide election results in Virginia on “white supremacy” and stated that “powerful white people” are working to “replace” people of other races. The book is a continuation of that train of thought, said Kathy. The book’s premise is that “blacks in the US are in exactly the same position as they were during slavery. Moreover, Republicans and conservatives are racists and Judeo-Christian beliefs are disgusting.”

Kathy responds – which ultimately derails the class

All this was jarring for Kathy, to say the least. At that discussion, she gave a counterpoint to both books.

She took on Beautiful Country directly. She said that New York City is her hometown and she lived and worked there up through the early 1990s. She said that the statements in the book about conditions in New York were simply false, and she pointed to several specifically. New York at that time was in many ways just the opposite!

Then Kathy moved on to Say It Louder! She said that the author’s claims about blacks being treated exactly like pre-Civil War slaves and all Republicans being racists are without proof of any kind. Without actual evidence, such assertions are meritless, she said. They’re simply disconnected rantings that make no logical sense.

The facilitators were shocked; they didn't want to hear anything negative about either book. Then a strange thing happened: They stood and whispered to each other right in front of Kathy and the others. Everyone seemed uncomfortable with that.

They told Kathy that "we shouldn't judge" the authors (a common leftist retort). Kathy replied that both authors were "judging" a lot of things very negatively: Whites, America, Republicans. In fact, the club's entire perspective was judgmental. So surely, we should all be free to discuss that, she said. The facilitators did not respond but were obviously displeased.

Then things completely fell apart. One of the other club members, an older man, did respond. He let loose with a level of hatred against "Donald Trump, and all his supporters" which was astonishing. He fumed that Trump's whole campaign is all about racism. (Up to this point no one in the group had discussed their political affiliation.) Kathy then stated that she is a Trump supporter and that no Trump supporters she knows are racist. This seemed to enrage the man even more. Kathy noted that neither of the facilitators said one word to this man, though he was clearly “judging” others.

The meeting ended soon after that. It was to be the last meeting. Shortly after the session, the facilitators sent an email announcing the club was "paused." That was several months ago, and there’s been no word of it continuing.

Final thoughts

This episode illustrates the far-reaching impact of the leftist American Library Association. The organization emboldens librarians everywhere to incorporate radical ideologies and materials and disseminate them using group management strategies.

As we all see everywhere these days, leftists are emboldened when pushing their agenda with impunity and unchallenged. But below the surface, they are intellectual (and emotional) weaklings – and even one strong person can take down the house of cards!

Kansas MassResistance Stops Cancel Culture Against Nurse

MassResistance stops “cancel culture” against Kansas nurse who stood up to trans ideology

Angry, deranged transgender activists demanded she lose her license. Nursing Board was ready to comply.

MassResistance got involved. Nurse was completely exonerated!

February 17, 2025
ALT TEXT This Kansas nurse isn't bowing down to the politically correct mob.

When leftists – particularly LGBT activists – see a lone conservative boldly standing up to their ideology, they do everything they can to destroy the person, the person’s family life, and even the person’s ability to earn a living.

Unfortunately, most pro-family groups do little or nothing to fight this. They usually just sit on the sidelines. But MassResistance jumps right in and battles right back! If you’ve been following us, you’ve seen us in action recently stopping “cancel culture” in New JerseyWisconsinCanada, and Idaho. It makes a difference!

A nurse speaks out on social media

Elaine works as a nurse in the suburbs of Topeka, Kansas. She works for a company that sends her to various places in the area where a nurse is needed.

When Elaine was younger, she was a victim of sexual assault. She is very much against men being allowed in women’s restrooms and locker rooms. She sees the entire transgender movement as medically and psychologically dysfunctional and delusional. It’s especially dangerous for children. In other words, she tells the politically incorrect truth.

She does not discuss her opinions during work. But over the past year, she has been very vocal on social media.

ALT TEXT One of Elaine's posts on X.

Not surprisingly, her posts have attracted abuse from leftist online trolls, especially transgender activists. But that hasn’t bothered her. She feels strongly about telling the truth in the face of destructive political correctness.

Then on October 9, 2024, she received a frightening letter from the Kansas State Board of Nursing. It said:

The Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN) has received information that you may have violated the Kansas Nurse Practice Act… It is alleged that you have been using social media to attack the transgender population, and to debase healthcare processes.

The letter went on to say that an investigation has begun on this case.

It was shocking! Elaine was basically telling the truth. Her first reaction was that it was a witch hunt.

A close look at the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, referenced in the letter, reveals that it does not prohibit or even address a nurse’s private social media use. Nor does it mention transgenderism as a prohibited or protected issue.

Moreover, the Kansas State Board of Nursing is appointed by the Democrat governor of Kansas, Laura Kelly. Gov. Kelly recently vetoed a bill that would ban transgender mutilation of children. It’s widely believed that this board is solidly in line with the governor’s pro-LGBT thinking. Transgender activists had obviously communicated to the board about Elaine.

Attacks against Elaine increase

After the board’s letter about the opening of the investigation, LGBT activists and their allies filed numerous complaints against Elaine to the Kansas State Board of Nursing. They wanted her nursing license to be revoked, and make sure she would not be able to work as a nurse again.

In addition, the level of the online attacks against Elaine expanded to vicious doxing and threats. Unhinged transgender activists posted her home address. They exposed where her children went to school. They even began publishing libelous attacks against her husband. They made harassing phone calls to Elaine’s home, too.

Kansas MassResistance team fights back

In mid-November, our Kansas MassResistance team connected with Elaine. She was thrilled to have our help!

Our activists went to work defending Elaine online – and stomping the leftist trolls attacking her and her family. The leftists certainly weren’t used to the treatment we gave them – and began backing off. They tried attacking us, but of course, that didn’t work.

Our Kansas activists also filed numerous statements in support of Elaine with the nursing board. They also contacted members of the board to express their displeasure about this illegitimate action being taken against her.

Kansas Attorney General weighs in

The flood of online attacks against Elaine – and the absurd charge by the Kansas State Board of Nursing – brought the issue to prominence in Kansas. Kansas Attorney General Kris Korbach, a Republican, was asked to weigh in. Here’s what he said on social media:

ALT TEXT

Actually, this would not be prosecuted by the Attorney General. The nursing board would be the making the decision. But his statement was certainly significant!

Elaine wins!

On December 9, the Kansas State Board of Nursing concluded its investigation and met to make a decision. Several Kansas MassResistance activists attended the meeting to show support for Elaine. The board members immediately left the meeting room and discussed it in private – but they got the message.

A few days later, Elaine received a letter with their one-sentence decision:

The Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN) decision was to inactivate (close) the case.

Elaine had won!

During their “investigation,” the nursing board investigator admitted to Elaine that all the complaints against her were about her social media posts. None of the complaints were about actual work as a nurse.

Thus, the charge against her was completely baseless and frivolous – since private social media posts are not prohibited or even addressed in the Kansas Nurse Practice Act. As Elaine had said, it was simply a witch-hunt by the leftists.

Moving forward to stop future abuses

After the decision, we filed a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request to see the actual complaints filed against Elaine. The nursing board clearly did not want to release them. They charged as much money as legally possible and (possibly illegally) blacked out the names and addresses of the filers. But it appears that most of the complaints came from across the country. And the British-style spelling of certain words suggests that they even came from foreign countries!

Several Kansas MassResistance activists have contacted state legislators about providing a legal remedy so this kind of abuse won’t happen in the future. It includes limiting the ability of Kansas licensure boards to investigate professionals simply because of their political opinions or speech outside of work hours. This type of cancel culture must be stopped!

Final thoughts

With the momentum from the Trump administrations bold executive actions to protect citizens, the conservative movement needs to start being aggressive about completely stopping the Left’s “cancel culture” against us.

MassResistance is certainly not going to let up!

Mobile Mob Moved Toward California, Not to Texas. I Wonder Why ...

The caravan invasion - Why they went where they did.

The blue path is the one that the migrants took to the San Ysidro Port of Entry at Tijuana/San Diego, CA. The red path is the one that they could have taken to the Hidalgo Port of Entry at Reynosa/McAllen, TX.

Notice the difference? The path to McAllen is approximately 1,300 miles long; whereas the path to San Diego is approximately 2,700 miles long. So the caravan travelled more than twice as far as it needed to.

Why in the world would they do that? They didn’t have their own vehicles, and they weren’t carrying enough food or resources to justify the longer journey.

There are two reasons.

The first reason can be summed up in two words: Ninth Circuit. The caravan members have been advised by liberal immigration attorneys all along. Not only were the migrants coached on what to say when claiming asylum, they were also evidently coached on where to go.

Travelling the extra 1,400 miles to Tijuana/San Diego would take the migrants to the Ninth Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals, with its numerous judges willing to minimize the President’s statutory authority to restrict entry of aliens into the United States. And the presence of similar federal judges at the district level in California would increase the probability that the migrants’ attorneys would obtain an initial ruling in their favor.

And that’s exactly what happened. When President Trump exercised his authority under 8 U.S.C. 1182(f) to “impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate,” a federal judge in San Francisco issued a temporary restraining order blocking the President’s action. The Ninth Circuit will likely agree with the district judge. Even if the Trump Administration prevails in any appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, it will take at least a year to reverse the district judge’s ruling.

The second reason for travelling twice the distance is that California is a sanctuary state with dozens of sanctuary cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco. Those jurisdictions will actively seek to protect the migrants who enter illegally from deportation.

On top of that, the state may interfere more directly with federal immigration enforcement. State Attorney General Xavier Becerra said recently that he might sue the federal government to stop the use of tear gas to defend the border or to stop the federal government from shutting down ports of entry. His argument is full of holes, but with the right judge that might not matter.
In contrast, in Texas, law enforcement agencies like the Texas Department of Public Safety cooperate with federal officials to improve border enforcement. To be sure, there are some sanctuary cities in Texas too; but it’s nothing like California.

In short, the migrants’ attorneys made sure that the caravan went the extra mile — or extra 1,400 miles — to arrive where the rule of law is the weakest in the United States. And their advice appears to be paying off. Federal immigration enforcement personnel can still prevail, but the playing field is tilted against them.

Kris W. Kobach is the elected Secretary of State of Kansas. An expert in immigration law and policy, he coauthored the Arizona SB-1070 immigration law and represented in federal court the 10 ICE agents who sued to stop Obama’s 2012 DACA executive amnesty. During 2001-03, he served as U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft’s chief adviser on immigration and border security at the U.S. Department of Justice. His website is kriskobach.com

Democrats Are Losing Badly--Very Badly

The Democratic Party is in such free-fall

The lapses and failures of the latest spate of special elections clearly spells their doom.

Check out what happened in Kansas! Mike Pompeo's seat opened

Yes, the progressive Democrats was within 4 points of winning in the special election--but the Republican still won.

In Louisiana, a state senate seat held by Democrats since 1972, flipped back into Republican hands.

Here's a great announcement about that pickup from the Republican State Legislative Committee:

For months, Democrats have bragged about state-level, special election strength and victories, while conveniently glossing over one very important detail: they weren’t actually winning any new seats. But on Saturday, the seat count finally changed… and not in their direction. Republican John Stefanski this weekend flipped Louisiana House District 42 – a seat held by Democrats since at least 1972 – after Democrats failed to even file a candidate in the race. Additionally, Republicans retained House District 92 on Saturday with a win by Joe Stagni. So for those of you keeping score, Democrats in state legislatures – despite massive interest and spending – have still flipped zero seats and hold even less than they did at the beginning of 2017. So much for refocused and rebuilding. ICYMI earlier this month, RSLC Political Director Justin Richards released a 2017 special elections update memo noting that despite major investments and major party surrogates’ engagement, Democrats hadn’t actually netted any new seats in state legislative chambers.

Keep in mind--the only reason that Louisiana has a Democratic Govenror is that the Republican candidate for Governor, US Senator David Vitter, was impalatable to many voters because of past dalliances with prostitutes in Washington D.C.

It had to do with the Republican candidate running for office.

But let the truth be told. The Democratic Party is in complete shambles, and the states where they hold complete power? They are crashing and burning!

In South Carolina, not only have Republicans showed real strength, but the conservative candidate won, the type of person who wants to see more power in the hands of individual citizens and less with power-brokers in Washington DC.

If the Georgia special election goes Republican for Karen Handel, expected more heads to roll in the DNC.

So much fun! No wonder the Democratic minority is going nuts in Washington. They have to distract voters over Russian infiltration into the Election. If not, the media will be full exposed as in league with the Democratic Party, since they refuse to cover and report on their rampant and growing corruption in the state of California as well as Rhode Island, Hawaii, Delaware, and Oregon.
