Kansas MassResistance Gets Rid of Racist Book Club at Topeka Library

Kansas MassResistance activist shuts down local library’s “Racial Justice Book Club” – by politely pointing out facts and logical inconsistencies!

Book club used American Library Association’s radical guidelines to disseminate leftist propaganda.

Facilitators abruptly ended the club rather than include diverse opinions.

ALT TEXT The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library went radical - until a Kansas MassResistance activist stepped in!

We love to relate how one unafraid, clear-thinking person can make a big difference. Here’s how a MassResistance activist won a victory against toxic leftist lunacy.

Topeka, Kansas is not considered a hotbed of radical leftism. But as in many relatively “red” areas, the hard Left controls the public library system and uses it to spread propaganda.

One method for stoking the radical agenda is to utilize the far-left American Library Association’s guidelines and resources for creating public “book clubs” that affirm and ignite anti-American issues – such as the claim of “structural racism” – in the local community.

ALT TEXT From the ALA's radical book club resource page. Their term for them is "Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation" (TRHT) Great Stories Clubs.

Kathy, a fearless MassResistance activist in Topeka, is an attorney who has done First Amendment work. She was an English major in college and reads widely.

She’s also interested in where her tax money goes. So when the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library advertised that it was hosting a “Racial Justice Book Club” in conjunction with the (far-left) local YWCA that was open to the public, she decided to join.

A troubling introduction

From the start, the Racial Justice Book Club was different from a normal book club. Kathy described what happened when she first approached the head of it to ask about joining:

The facilitator I spoke with was very lovely when I first inquired. Then I told her that one reason I wanted to join – besides loving book clubs – was because I had a question to ask: "I often hear that our country is so racist and horrible to 'black and brown' people. But how can that be true, since people of color are the vast majority who risk everything to come here? If that were so, why would they stay and work here – and then send for their families too?"

In an instant, this woman changed from being nice and welcoming to downright ugly.  She glared at me and snarled:  "If you have questions like that, I wonder why you'd even want to join our book club!" Nevertheless, she couldn’t simply turn me away.

A gathering of leftists…and hard leftists

The club participants included about 10 people, ranging in age from their early 20s to 80s. On the surface, they were all very nice. But they were all on board with the club’s agenda. The younger ones, in particular, seemed unaware that there were any other than leftist opinions on the race issue. It was as if they had never heard that our country was essentially good and benevolent.

The club’s "facilitators" were key.  Both were young women (early 30s and mid-20s). One was an employee of the YWCA and the other worked for the library. For both, it was gospel to hate being white and frequently proclaim their guilt. But the creepiest thing, said Kathy, was that they regularly made vile remarks about Republicans, conservatives, and religious and traditional Americans – but in the most dulcet tones. They affected gentle smiles and soft voices while saying vicious things.

The meetings start slowly…

Interestingly, the books the club included were not pushing the facilitators’ hard-line messages initially. The classic leftist approach, which the ALA advises, is to start with relatively low-key subjects to instill the basic ideas, and then quickly raise the level to anguished and extreme concern.

As Kathy related:

For the first four months of the book club, they had benign lectures about different subjects as well as non-suspicious reading assignments. Some of the books touched on the subjects of minorities fighting for success in the early 1920s and 1930s in America. The discussions about prejudice seemed legitimate. They had a lecture on voting rights. It didn’t seem all that bad.

…Then the full-steam radicalism began!

Then came two books that showed the ugly racialism of the club’s intent. Members were assigned two books for reading and discussion: Beautiful CountryA Memoir of an Undocumented Childhood by Qian Julie Wang and Say It Louder!: Black Voters, White Narratives, and Saving Our Democracy by Tiffany Cross.

Beautiful Country describes how the author and her family fled Communist China and came to New York City in the early 1990s as “illegal” immigrants. She was a child at the time. The author ultimately received a great education and scholarships, and today is a well-known and very wealthy lawyer. Yet in the book she mercilessly derides New York and the U.S. She rants about the city’s unaffordable health care for poor people, the expense and scarcity of food (even bad food), working in sweatshops just to make a meager living, institutionalized racism against Chinese, public school discrimination against immigrants, etc. The message is that America is a terrible place for poor or non-white people to live.

The second book, Say It Louder!, is even more venomous. Author Tiffany Cross, had hosted a program on MSNBC called “Cross Connection.” She was very publicly fired in 2022 for her racist remarks that were too extreme even for far-left MSNBC! Among other things, she blamed statewide election results in Virginia on “white supremacy” and stated that “powerful white people” are working to “replace” people of other races. The book is a continuation of that train of thought, said Kathy. The book’s premise is that “blacks in the US are in exactly the same position as they were during slavery. Moreover, Republicans and conservatives are racists and Judeo-Christian beliefs are disgusting.”

Kathy responds – which ultimately derails the class

All this was jarring for Kathy, to say the least. At that discussion, she gave a counterpoint to both books.

She took on Beautiful Country directly. She said that New York City is her hometown and she lived and worked there up through the early 1990s. She said that the statements in the book about conditions in New York were simply false, and she pointed to several specifically. New York at that time was in many ways just the opposite!

Then Kathy moved on to Say It Louder! She said that the author’s claims about blacks being treated exactly like pre-Civil War slaves and all Republicans being racists are without proof of any kind. Without actual evidence, such assertions are meritless, she said. They’re simply disconnected rantings that make no logical sense.

The facilitators were shocked; they didn't want to hear anything negative about either book. Then a strange thing happened: They stood and whispered to each other right in front of Kathy and the others. Everyone seemed uncomfortable with that.

They told Kathy that "we shouldn't judge" the authors (a common leftist retort). Kathy replied that both authors were "judging" a lot of things very negatively: Whites, America, Republicans. In fact, the club's entire perspective was judgmental. So surely, we should all be free to discuss that, she said. The facilitators did not respond but were obviously displeased.

Then things completely fell apart. One of the other club members, an older man, did respond. He let loose with a level of hatred against "Donald Trump, and all his supporters" which was astonishing. He fumed that Trump's whole campaign is all about racism. (Up to this point no one in the group had discussed their political affiliation.) Kathy then stated that she is a Trump supporter and that no Trump supporters she knows are racist. This seemed to enrage the man even more. Kathy noted that neither of the facilitators said one word to this man, though he was clearly “judging” others.

The meeting ended soon after that. It was to be the last meeting. Shortly after the session, the facilitators sent an email announcing the club was "paused." That was several months ago, and there’s been no word of it continuing.

Final thoughts

This episode illustrates the far-reaching impact of the leftist American Library Association. The organization emboldens librarians everywhere to incorporate radical ideologies and materials and disseminate them using group management strategies.

As we all see everywhere these days, leftists are emboldened when pushing their agenda with impunity and unchallenged. But below the surface, they are intellectual (and emotional) weaklings – and even one strong person can take down the house of cards!

Big Win for Fair Education Santa Barbara

After nearly five years of pitch battle, Fair Education Santa Barbara has won.   Just Communities Central Coast (JCCC),  the purveyor of school-sponsored bigotry and the skulduggery of Critical Race Theory,  has finally been dissolved.  In short, JCCC bites the dust.   While JCCC may shape shift, mutate, and re-emerge in a new form,  this is a moment to dance for joy!    For this brief moment of time,  good triumphed over evil, courage over fear, and love over hate.   In late 2018, a concerned group of parents and educators formed Fair Education Santa Barbara to advocate for children and parents and to challenge the hidden curriculum of JCCC, which has being funded to the tune of over $1.7 million by the Santa Barbara Unified School District.    At the time,  the Santa Barbara Unified School Board and JCCC said that JCCC's ironically named "anti-bias" training was  "intellectual property",  like Google's source code or Coca Cola's secret recipe, and could not possibly be shared with the public.  Fair Education Santa Barbara's only option to expose this scam was to sue JCCC and include their  bigoted curriculum as part of the lawsuit.  For example, one such curriculum document titled, Table of Oppression , segregates people, based on their race, into groups such as privileged oppressors or targeted victims.  From JCCC's once hidden documents, it is evident that JCCC took its cues from 1930’s Germany and Apartheid era South Africa as to the power and effect of dehumanizing and dividing specific groups of people.  Fair Education’s first-in-the-nation lawsuit against JCCC lit the spark for the prairie fire that has spread across America, to provide parents with the information and knowledge needed to fight the racially divisive, anti-American, sexually over-the-top indoctrination occurring daily in our schools beginning in Kindergarten.   Our lawsuit exposed the tip of a very toxic iceberg,  where tens of millions of dollars in public tax dollars were going to radical nonprofits like JCCC to indoctrinate school children.   Fair Education’s lawsuit would have succeeded even further if those who experienced the in-school hate first-hand had felt more secure several years back to go public with their experiences. Thanks to the Fair Education Santa Barbara pioneers in this fight, the reluctance of parents, children and educators to speak out publicly has begun to erode across America. While Fair Education Santa Barbara did not succeed in the Santa Barbara Superior Court,  we did eventually succeed in the court of public opinion.    After exposing JCCC for their vile bigotry and harmful tactics,  only the most radical and willfully blind partisans in Santa Barbara continued to support JCCC.    While a few local philanthropists, like the Hutton Parker Foundation, blindly gave tax exempt support to JCCC,  most philanthropists distanced themselves from JCCC as they came to realize how badly they had been duped.  Even the notoriously woke Santa Barbara Unified School District had moved on to bucketing money to other social justice grifters,  leaving JCCC befret of funding.   On August 31, 2022,  JCCC was dissolved.Fair Education Santa Barbara succeeded in its mission of educating the community on the actual Critical Race Theory curriculum pushed by JCCC     In this battle for openness, truthfulness and our children's future,  we learned a number of important lessons.  First, our local press coverage is highly partisan and deeply-biased.   Only one local paper had the courage to cover us without fear or favor.   Second, we learned  that our locally elected judges could be swayed by their social entanglements with the Progressive elite.   Thirdly, we learned how rabidly partisan and ideologically radical our local school boards have become and how far too many of the board members and top administrators fail to help or even protect students, parents or teachers.    But most of all,  we learned that no matter the barriers placed in front of us, MLK jr. was prescient:  it is always the right time to do that which it right.   And even in Santa Barbara, with enough outreach, determination and courage,  the blinders eventually come off.  Fair Education Santa Barbara and our courageous supporters succeeded in educating a reluctant and often hostile community on the dangers of JCCC.   Thank you to each of you who contributed,  spoke up at school board meetings,  wrote letters to the editors, and stood with us, shoulder to shoulder, against the destructive and now defunct JCCC.  We are the champions, my friends.  The Board of Fair Education Santa Barbara. Please consider supporting Fair Education Santa Barbara financially by clicking the link below.   All contributions are greatly appreciated.

Brief Background of Fair Education

In late 2018,  a group of Santa Barbara parents had become concerned that a divisive curriculum was being concealed from them.   Rather than engage in “show and tell” with this taxpayer funded curriculum, the District engaged in “hide and seek”.  Parents were told multiple times “NO”, when they requested documents describing the curriculum, and that it was simply too nuanced to be shared with the general public.

Santa Barbara’s parents were left with no choice.  They sued to bring this curriculum to light.  Joined by educators and community members, Fair Education Santa Barbara, a California non-profit, was formed.   Fair Education’s mission was and is to ensure that public education funds are spent so that each and every student receives the knowledge, critical thinking skills and character to succeed (www.faireducation.org).

Fair Education is comprised of old-school dreamers who believe in the content of character, not the color of skin.  Unlike the radical school District, Fair Education subscribes to:  Diversity of Thought, Equality of Opportunity, and Inclusivity for all. Fair Education believes that every child is important and that all children should be educated to their highest, not lowest, individual potential.  By their conduct, Fair Education’s adversaries in the lawsuit appear to believe just the opposite of all of the above.

The Parent Movement in California Compared to Idaho

It's been 2+ years since COVID-19 was foisted upon the world, and in that time parents realized that they needed to fight back against their local school boards to ensure the health and well-being of their children.

It was a disastrous overreach to an illness that was an overhyped version of the flu, nothing more. Sadly, the whole world panicked and went into shut-down mode all over. Later research has confirmed that masks do not work, that they were never necessary in the first place, and lockdowns had a negligible effect (if any) in stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Parents learned what many pro-family activists had been saying for years: the schools are not safe for kids. They are indoctrinating children with all kinds of filth and perversion and calling it "good." They don't put the well-being of the children first. They care more about which political lobby has the power in the school district: the teachers unions and the contractors and the administrative bloat within the school district and throughout the state.

School districts are not safe paces. They are pushing mental illnesses like homosexuality and transgenderism, all under the guise of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. They are teaching kids to hate themselves and to hate each other because of their skin color.

They are not teaching children who to read, write, do math, think, create, build, or grow.

There is no accountability in government schools, since once a teacher passes tenure, it is almost impossible to fire a teacher

A number of parents started to band together to fight back against the health overreach as well as the critical racist theory and sexual degeneracy being pushed on children. But they didn't want to fight it as hard as it needed.

I remember meeting with a number of parents, telling them that they had to confront school board members and teachers, call them out for the abuse that they were visiting on students in the classroom. A Some parents were willing to share tips with me, and some other residents in the city also let me know what was going on.

However, when I told parents how they had to confront and call out teachers, not just the elected officials, I was surprised by how many of them balked at the idea. They didn't want to go aggressively after the very people who were pushing all the bad stuff on the children in the first place. In one Zoom meeting, a parent actually told me that she was friends with one of the teachers whom I was exposing and confronting! I was sickened!

That parent was more interested in maintaining a cordial, civil friendship with a creepy teacher instead of fighting back and protecting her kids and other kids in the local school district. This was really frustrating.

The more that I think about it, the more outraged I become. I hate to say it, but some of these parents were de facto enablers of the very abuse and bad policies that they wanted to stop, or rather that they claimed that they wanted to stop!

In contrast to a number of the parents I tried to work with in the South Bay section of Los Angeles County, I just found this incredible mother, a real profile in courage, in Northern Idaho. She and other parents work with the Idaho chapter of MassResistance, the organization that I work form, too. For the last year, they have been confronting and calling out the local library board for allowing all kinds of lew materials in the children's section of the library.

In the latest library board meeting, this one mother chewed out the entire library board and the library director for allowing filthy, pornographic books in the local library. (Click here)

Awesome Idaho Mom

Check out some of her remarks:

Yes, this is pornography. Will you just get over yourselves and get rid of these books? You people are disgusting! Disgusting! How dare you have books like that in the library? You need to quit. Because you people are a den of perverts!

When they tried to cut her off, and when they told her to abide by the library code of conduct, this mother doubled down on her outrage:

You’re so civilized that you allow things like this for 12-year-olds to read. You are really beyond belief. If we didn’t have that special clause in the law, you would all be going to jail for providing this stuff to children.

The special clause is the obscenity exemption, which allows libraries and schools to push all kinds of filth on children under the banner of "education."

This is the kind of outrage that I was hoping to see from more parents in the South Bay in Los Angeles County. I was really hoping that parents would get this angry, outraged enough that they would confront the evil in the local libraries and the local schools. Sadly, too many of the parents wanted to stay civil, they wanted to ensure that their friendships with local groups did not get jeopardized. All too many of the parents were A-OK with homosexuality and transgenderism, just "don't push it on the kids ...." What an abusive outrage!

It just sickened me, and I got so tired of this cowardice. In contrast to the relative weakness of parents in Los Angeles County, I am glad to see parents in Idaho, Virginia, and elsewhere rising up with unfettered vehemence, demanding an end to this perversion in the local libaries. They are targeting the staffmembers that allow this trash in the libraries, as well, which is all the more important!

Idaho Freedom Foundation: Time for a Special Session

From Wayne Hoffman of the Idaho Freedom Foundation:

I understand that Gov. Brad Little is considering calling legislators back to town to cut taxes. That's an excellent idea. There is no reason in the world that our hard earned money should sit unused in the state treasury.

Moreover, with a $2 billion budget surplus -- that’s more than 40% of the general fund -- the decision to cut taxes without delay ought to be simple. It's a low risk proposition that happens to be great for Idahoans.

A special session isn’t a done deal yet. Remember in 2020, the governor resisted calling a special session even though the public was demanding action to protect them from government Covid mandates.

If it does come to pass, Little alone would set a special session agenda, and he has been clear on his desire to cut taxes. That means he could use the session to continue delivering on income tax relief and follow through on his campaign promise to repeal Idaho’s sales tax on groceries. The latter has the double benefit of giving Idahoans relief from inflation at the grocery store.

And if tax rebates are in order, Little should use funds to provide relief to Idahoans crushed under the weight of exploding property taxes.

And while lawmakers are in their seats in Boise, this would be an excellent time to make sure our schools aren't used by the Biden administration to implement pro-transgender policies.

We pointed out this problem in June and suggested a special session then. Little and other governors wrote a letter protesting the administration's actions last month. But a letter is hardly the protection our kids deserve.

If you recall, Biden issued an executive order that asserts, “Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports.”

His executive order threatens to create Lia Thomas copycat situations in school locker rooms in Idaho and across the country.

As lawmakers last session appropriated the federal funds that would obligate our schools to set up trans bathrooms and make other woke accommodations, this is a problem that they alone are needed to fix.

There's an immediate need to protect schoolchildren by undoing the availability of the money lawmakers appropriated, replacing the same with state dollars, or directing schools to not expend funds on wokeism. If Idaho does nothing, the mere act of participating in federal school lunch programs is enough for the federal government to make demands about locker rooms and bathrooms.

A special session can take on both issues.

It can be a session that repatriates unused tax dollars to the people where they belong. And it can also help put the brakes on Washington, D.C.'s woke foolishness.

But if the governor uses the session to go on a spending spree -- dumping more money into education or other government programs -- it will be a disaster. Limited to tax cuts and protecting students from Biden's social justice agenda, a special session would do Idahoans a whole lot of good.

Torrance High School Teachers: Preferred Pronouns and "There Are Too Many White People"

Two months, I spoke with a student named W. G. (name hidden to protect his identity and his family.)

He shared with me about another bad teacher in Torrance Unified School District.

W.G. reported the following:

"An art teacher [Aja De La Rosa] wanted you to write your pronouns on a piece of paper."

Teachers are now asking for students' preferred pronouns. Really!

"And then she was sharing personal stories about herself, about her daughter was transitioning gender at a very young age. Her daughter wanted to become a male."

Why are teachers sharing this stuff with their students in the classroom? Why is this happening at Torrance High School.

Then W.G. told us about his English teacher:

Her name is Marianne Pignotti:

W.G. then had this to share:

"Then there was my English teacher. She had six poster boards. Each poster board had another poster board behind it. So they weren't exactly put on the walls. She then, out of the blue, started talking about these posters, and she pulls them out. And she's apologizing because they're all white males."

WHAT?!

"And I promise you, not a single student in that classroom looked at her posters, and said 'Oh Wow! They're all white.' That wasn't even a thought until she brought it up."

So, Pignotti is pushing racism in her classroom, specifically anti-white racism. There is no room for such bigotry in the classroom. NONE!

"She then said that Hollywood needs to start making movies with more people of color. And I'm thinking to myself: 'Hey! I am a fan of "Fast and Furious." And I know the main character, Dom, is not fully white. And I never personally thought, "Hey, I wonder what race that guy is."'"

This is the kind of bigotry and hate which has become commonplace in government schools, and this is not Los Angeles Unified or San Francisco.

This kind of hateful indoctrination is taking place in Torrance Unified, too! This is outrageous!

For the entire interview that I conducted with this student, see the link below:

Texas MassResistance SCORCHES School Board Over LGBT and CRT Promotion

Texas MassResistance Asst. Director scorches officials at his local School Board meeting over Critical Race Theory and the LGBT agenda!

Parents cheer him, but cowardly officials have police remove him after he finishes speaking.

Calling out a left-wing School Board in a conservative Texas town! (See video clip.)

August 27, 2021
VIDEO: Kevin Whitt scorches local school board (3 min 44 sec)

Lately we’ve all been seeing viral videos of parents standing up and berating their local School Board over their teaching of Critical Race Theory (and other depravities in the schools). When it comes to that kind of confrontation, nobody does it quite like MassResistance!

Our Texas MassResistance Assistant Director, Kevin Whitt, lives in Frisco, Texas (a northern suburb of Dallas). Like many places that are relatively conservative, it appears that leftists (who often campaign as conservatives) have managed to get elected to the local School Board (known as the "Board of Trustees") – and are allowing the latest radical agendas to be brought into the schools. Unfortunately, too often the town doesn’t angrily lash back, and the situation only gets worse.

On June 14, 2021, Kevin (who has personally been harmed by the LGBT movement) came to the School Board meeting along with local parents. He definitely got the Board’s attention! He scorched them over the outrages they’re allowing. After he sat down, the parents cheered. But the sleazy (and cowardly) officials had the police come up and surround Kevin and remove him from the room.

ALT TEXT Kevin Whitt (bottom left) begins to speak to the Frisco TX District School Board. They clearly didn't like what they heard!

Exposing the radical agendas

As we’ve observed before, the “diversity and inclusion” aspect of Critical Race Theory is invariably intertwined with the LGBT agenda. Thus, the high school librarian, who is also a high school teacher, is clearly promoting both agendas there.

And that’s probably just the tip of the iceberg.

ALT TEXT From an online bio of the high school librian / teacher.
ALT TEXT "White Privilege" material being used as part of the CRT curriculum.
ALT TEXT A nineth-grade assignment: Read several "woke" books, then complete a "reflection form," to "earn rewards."

School officials punish Kevin for speaking out

After Kevin finished speaking and sat down, one of the school officials had the police come up, surround him, and remove him out of the room. Several parents shouted, “Let him stay! Let him stay! There has been no crime committed!” Kevin at first said he would not leave, but after apparently being threatened with arrest, he relented.

ALT TEXT After Kevin was finished speaking and sat down, two police officers and a school board official came over and surrounded him.

Then they had the police issue Kevin an outrageous six-month “No Trespass Order” – to make sure he didn’t come back and testify again anytime soon. Kevin is a legal resident of that city, of course, and should have the right to complain to his public officials just like any other person.

The purpose is to send a fearsome message to the rest of the community – that they’d better not “misbehave” or they’ll be in some legal trouble.

Sadly, this offensive tactic is used regularly by School Boards across the country against local citizens who call them out (and make them too uncomfortable). Luckily, people are less intimidated than public officials would like.

ALT TEXT When Kevin got outside they handed him a six-month "no trespass" order.

Final thoughts

This is what people everywhere should be doing. Most conservatives don’t understand this.

It’s very important that school officials realize that pushing these twisted ideas on students is not a casual issue, but something that is extremely offensive to the community, and horribly damaging to young people. If good people don’t react as Kevin did – especially if folks try to carry on a “rational discussion” about it – the school officials won’t think we take their violations seriously. That’s been our experience over the past 25 years.

In other words, you absolutely need to get their attention! Thank you, Kevin, for showing how it should be done!

Los Alamitos School District Call to Action

Please share as much as you can.

‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
👉ACTION ALERT👈

The Los Alamitos school board has been trying to sneak Critical Race Theory  in its schools by the adoption of K-12 Social Justice Standards provided by the Southern Poverty Law center with classroom resources (lesson plans, professional development trainings and articles) drawn from the Tolerance.org.  The tolerance.org resources have a definite progressive left wing slant that does NOT align with our Judeo -Christian beliefs, nor our love for America. It’s anti-American and Anti-white rhetoric is woven throughout its resources.

They're voting on the standards May 11 and its  the last day to speak against it.  Last meeting proponents of the standards submitted their comment cards beginning at 8am so they got to speak first.   The meeting starts at 6:30 but the opposition started lining up at 3!  The opposition called in Antifa last week so please ask our warrior men to come and keep them in line.

Please bombard the school board every day. Scroll down to the bottom of the link for all their email addresses.

SAMPLE EMAIL:

I am emailing to urge you to Vote NO on the K-12 Social Justice Standards.  They give board sanctioned approval of tolerance.org classroom resources (lesson plans, professional development,  and articles) which in no way align with our Judeo-Christian Values or our belief in American Exceptionalism. A vote to approve these standards is a vote to alienate more than half of you constituents and force them to change their educational setting.

I urge you to take these points into consideration, and please VOTE “NO” on The K-12 Social Justice Standards
Sincerely,

Name
