Traffic Signs and the Federal Government

As if the Federal Government did not have better things to do, like balancing the budget, shedding the national debt that is eating this country from the inside out, or what about closing down military bases all over the world and bringing our troops home.

Notwithstanding the pressing priorities that weigh on this country, the federal government has seen fit to mandate that local and state officials revamp traffic signs with lights and big letters.

Leading the charge to defund this mandate, Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey has argued that these decisions must be left to the states and local municipalities. As the head of the Club for Growth, and one of the Tea Party Stalwarts who helped beat back the Democratic Majority in the Senate, Toomey has inspired the nation with a growing respect to decentralize government and limit federal encroachment.

The United States should be grateful that the GOP lead the charge to end a phase-out on light bulbs. Let's hope that the federal government phases out other government overreach, phases out the immense debt and deficits damning this country, and then phases out all extraneous programs and departments not enumerated in the Constitution.
