Senators Getting Hurt

First Illinois Senator Mark Kirk falls ill from a mild stroke. Reports indicate that the Midwestern moderate is recovering and in good condition.

Then senior Massachusetts Senator John Kerry endures two black eyes and a broken nose while playing hockey.

I wish that senators would stop getting hurt and get busy rolling back the federal government. Better yet, I wish they would exert themselves to their own hurt by limiting theirs influence in the lives and operations of the individual citizen and the several states.

This country needs fit and fighting moderates like junior Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown in the federal government. Young legislators who keep themselves disciplined and in shape doing what is right of their voters and the country: they deserve to stay in office.

If the only way to stop government growth and waste is for the vast majority of legislators to hurt themselves and resign, then so be it.

A wounded legislative body may advance the cause of limited and constitutional government, but so can an active and involved moderate like Senator Scott Brown.
