#NeverTrump Kristol Goes KooKoo

Bill Kristol has become more irritating by the minute.

He was an outspoken Never-Trumper during Election 2016.

Even now, his flagship magazine "The Weekly Standard" is non-stop in its criticism of the President.

One friend of mine was so disgusted with the magazine's anti-Trump derangement, he canceled his subscription.

This is what is happening:

The neoconservative intelligentsia have found their worldview checked into marginal status. That's a big problem for them.

So many of these conservative talkers and writers can't deal with the fact that Trump has done more than they could have ever imagined, and has done so quite effectively. They don't like that he tweets, I suppose, and they do not care for some of his uncouth choices.

So what? He is Making America Great Again, and there is nothing wrong with the way he's doing it, as long as he has continued enacting unprecedented reforms and growth in our country.

As for Bill Kristol, I called him out publicly at the 2017 Politicon Convention in Pasadena.

#NeverTrumpers, Jump on the Train or Get Off the Bus!

After 110 days of the Trump Presidency, one would think that the diffident, doubtful #NeverTrump crowd would turn the page and get on board the Trump Train. Yet to this day, I find a number of people, including hard-core Cruzers, who have not given up their hatred and disgust for Donald Trump. When I posted the cover of a new Trump children's book on my Facebook profile, one man commented: "That man is a fool."

Donald Trump is a fool? He worked all the angles that needed to be done, and he won the Presidency. He defeated at least 16 other well-connected and qualified candidates to compete. He then took on the mainstream media, the military-industrial complex, the Soros phalanx of major corporations and their multi-million dollar donations. And he won.

And he is still winning!

So, the arguments from all of these #NeverTrumpers has grown increasingly stale, not only that, but it's so disconnected from reality, that one can hardly stand it. It's offensive!

Donald Trump is your president, whether you like it or not. Frankly, I am liking it a great deal!

Todd Royal shared his views on the #NeverTrump ideological recalcitrance in April:

Let’s review what President Trump accomplished in one week. He got Judge (now Associate Justice) Neil Gorsuch onto the Supreme Court, and according to Senator Tom Cotton (a former member of the 101st Airborne, served in Iraq and Afghanistan), “Restored America’s credibility in the world,” after striking Syria over their chemical weapons attack. 

The appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court made Trump's victory worth everything for Trump’s most skeptical supporters. Even hard-core libertarian Republican Congressman Thomas Massie said so.

But there's more about Trump to embrace:

Trump understands the rough and tumble world of international diplomacy. He one-upped President Xi by making him wait an hour for his arrival at their recent summit the same way Ronald Reagan first greeted Gorbachev on a cold winter day wearing only a suit while Gorbachev was bundled in a heavy top coat and scarf. Trump understands what Obama didn’t, and the Chinese have begun changing their behavior after the summit, when it was reported by Reuters that China is turning back North Korean coal (North Korea’s main export) from their docks.

Well, well, well.

Trump is kicking rump all across the globe. While Obama was bowing and scraping for respect from world leaders, the President is not afraid to fight for American interests. How refreshing is that? Sure, candidate Trump was ready to slam China as an offensive currency manipulator. Now that China is agreeing to more solid trade deals to improve American lives, Trump is giving the Chinese premier a little more breathing room.

That's fine with me.

But still, the #NeverTrump crowd is just as loud. He is not presidential enough. He is not enacting policy reforms quickly enough. Indeed, purists and policy ideologues will never be happy. All of their elected officials must accomplish and expand the values they seek at all costs, or else.

The demand for perfection leads to lose. The abolitionists of the Ante-Bellum period were so determined to end slavery, that they withdrew from the political process. They burned copies of the Declaration of Independence, and they denounced the inherent corruption of the United States for allowing that despicable "peculiar institution" to stay alive.

In a similar vein, grassroots activists are angry with Trump because every step of the illegal immigration problem has not be resolved as he had said he would. Patience and priorities must stand. Purity would have ensured a Hillary Clinton Presidency.

What else burns these ardent anti-Trump conservatives? A need for self-righteous recognition, perhaps? They can brag in the media that they never compromised their principles. They are self-righteous in another sense. "This man slept with other women!"

"He has a foul mouth!"

"He called women 'pigs' and 'dogs'".

"His demeanor is not presidential."

It's this high-and-mighty church lady mentality--and it's really disgusting. Trump is not a nice little school boy. He has flaws. He has some serious problems with speaking consistently on issues. Our country faced serious threats to its integrity and existence. What sense would there have been for individual voters to hold onto their purity, but watch the country fall away into progressive darkness?

Well-respected conservative commentator Dennis Prager reminded conservative readers: The question during the election [2016] was: What will happen if the Democrats and the Left win the presidency again?

Voters, grassroots activists, and policy wonks must focus on limiting evil, and in turn expand truth, justice, and liberty. The process to free the slaves in the United States exceeded legislative solutions, since the partisan factions engaged in a cruel, four-year Civil War. Legislative successes followed, including the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments.

The political process must concern all citizens, just as they are invested in the policies and principles they wish to advance. #NeverTrump doesn’t understand this difficult yet necessary reality in politics.

Or worse, they just don’t care. For that reason, their rhetoric and relevance must wane in the advancing months. As for me, I blocked the commentator who called Trump a fool. I submit that all of us will be the wiser for taking similar actions with unrepentant Trump opponents.

Ten Tips for Getting NeverTrumpers on the Trump Train

For NeverTrumper Republicans, Election 2016 presents nothing but intolerant options.

Hillary Clinton is corrupt and stiff.

Gary Johnson is marginal but libertarian.

Jill Stein is a true believer (albeit a socialist).

But Donald Trump? He’s a boorish, opportunistic, alt-right hatchet man ready to make deals and ruin our country!

Well …

What can we do about the conservatives who still call themselves #NeverTrump … to vote for Trump?

I get where they’re coming from. I was one of the #NotTrump voters. He was not my sixteenth choice for President (I was never going to pull the lever for Jim Gilmore, Lindsey Graham, Jeb Bush, George Pataki, etc).

But Donald Trump hovered towards the middle of the pack for me. Now he’s the top dog.

With less than two months left before Election Day, here are nine tips for getting NeverTrumpers in your circle of connections on board.

1. Do not shame NeverTrumpers with arguments like: "If you don't vote for Trump, then you are voting for Hillary."

Look, it's not their fault that the front-runner candidates are Clinton, Trump, Johnson, Stein, or a write-in. If they choose not to vote, they are choosing not to vote. How can anyone accuse a NeverTrumper of voting for anyone?

It’s a losing game to push conscientious voters to do something that would violate their conscience. A vote for Trump has to look like something they want to do, a decision that will further their underlying long-term goals.

Besides, I know about facing two unpalatable choices. In California, Prop 14 has created Top-Two jungle primaries, which has left me choosing between left-wing Democrats.

I chose not to vote.  Part of the voter franchise is the right not to vote! So, forget the “You’re voting for Hillary” rant.

2. List for NeverTrumpers net positives about Trump’s  campaign.

One distinct positive about Trump is his outreach and support for the Remembrance Project. Why not rely on this connection to get friends on board?

Trump brought immigration to the forefront, along with a searing focus on national sovereignty, security, and sanctity. The Remembrance Project is a hard-core non-profit demanding secure borders and a policy that puts Americans first. We need to feel pride in our country. We needed a healthy dose of nationalism in this country once again, and Trump doled out the treatment.

Donald Trump was the only candidate who responded to the group's pleas.

He knows the parents who lost their beloved children to illegal aliens. I came face to face with this horrific destruction in June, when an illegal alien named Johnny Sanchez set fire to an abandoned Los Angeles warehouse and killed five Americans.

Today, it’s clear to me that Trump means to win and to govern.

I shared this connection with a staunch NeverTrumper, a famous and well-respected conservative. He conceded the value of that Trump’s cherished respect for those families.

3. Show how Trump has hastened the much-needed demise of destructive political correctness, and has some solid conservative ideas.

Let the NeverTrumper know that it’s OK, even respectable that they have not been vocal Trump supporters.

Anyone can look over my previous articles, blog posts, letters, and recordings.

I wanted anyone else but the Trump a rodeo clown, a Democrat, everything but Presidential material.

Give me some credit. I never thought he was racist.

He was funny, if somewhat unserious.

At least at the outset.

I am supporting Donald Trump, not just because he is the Republican nominee.

And not just because he has the best (and getting better) chance of defeating the corrupt and crooked Hillary Clinton.

I like his policies on taxes, military, and the Second Amendment. I liked his list of potential Supreme Court nominees. I do not believe he poses a pre-eminent threat to conservatism, either.

He is an invigorating tonic for public discourse. I didn't have a big problem with an undercard and mainstream debate. I did object to ten people competing for attention on one stage. But that's a major media problem for another team. During the earlier debates, Presidential candidates savaged Hillary Clinton and each other as well as the media

4. Yes, you can trust Trump to govern as a conservative.

He has sacrificed business contacts. His image, his brand has endured an unprecedented assault from the left, from the media, from every special interest and big government establishment front out to get rich at everyone else's expense. And he has made the left-wing "mainstream media" look like the bought-and-sold corrupt frauds that they are. The outreach to the Remembrance Project has not brought him free press, either.

5. If your NeverTrumper was a Carson supporter, point out Carson’s endorsement and leadership in the Trump campaign.

6. If your NeverTrumper is a Cruzer, acknowledge that Cruz had every right not to endorse Trump. Share your appreciation for Cruz’s efforts in the U.S. Senate, like fighting for free Internet and defunding sanctuary cities. Tell him that you hope Cruz gets re-elected to the U.S. Senate and runs for President in eight years.

7. If your NeverTrumper is a Johnson supporter, ask him to explain that Libertarian candidate’s support for a carbon tax, Obama’s executive amnesty, and wavering on religious liberty. Ask him—but do not argue—to explain why Johnson boasts about agreeing with Bernie Sanders 73% of the time.

8. If your NeverTrumper is—God forbid—voting for Jill Stein, walk away. Rejoice that Hillary Clinton has lost another LIBERAL voter.

9. Talk about all the swing states. Clinton is now plummeting, and Trump is ascending. Trump is gaining in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, and Florida.

Trump has already sewn up Iowa and North Carolina, too.

10. Tell them how Donald Trump is continuing to savage Clinton’s corruption, health, and integrity without holding back. NeverTrumpers want a conservative fighter. Show them how Trump is taking down the Democratic nominee and the party with her.

These are the ten ideas that worked with me.

Why #NeverTrump Is Wrong: A South Bay Republican's Perspective

This is a great country. For too many Americans, though, they are not feeling it: sluggish economy, rampant terrorist attacks, defeated morale, both here and abroad. Corrosive, subversive scandals have engulfed the Obama administration (IRS, DOJ, Fast and Furious). Special interests are gaming the system in an unprecedented, disturbing fashion. Look what happened to Bernie Sanders during the Democratic Primary. The DNC (with disgraced Chairman Debbie Wasserman-Schulz) was actively—illegally!—colluding to ensure a Hillary Clinton coronation.

Despite these trying times, we should still share our differences and be civil. And yet, the slow erosion of our social order should concern us. The President has systematically attacked and sought to limit the First Amendment. He has refused to enforce our laws on firearms and immigration. He minimizes terrorism and maximizes micro-aggressions.  Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani was right: “President Obama does not love America.” We need a President who does, and that man is Donald Trump.

Let me provide some background.  As a conservative Republican, I stood behind other candidates besides Trump. Scott Walker? Dropped out. Bobby Jindal? Bye-Bye. Ted Cruz was my last hope. Trump crushed him in Indiana.

I resisted supporting Trump, but I knew that I was going to vote for him. He may be a rodeo clown, but at least he’s bad-ass, not afraid to ruffle feathers, not afraid to make the liberal media look like the fools they are. Political correctness is hurting our country, and Donald Trump is the epitome of political incorrectness. Trump is not a perfect candidate, but at least he’s candid.

I do not think Trump is racist, either. I support a ban on Muslim immigration until we “figure out what the heck is going on.” Islamic affiliation is not a race, but a religion, and if we want to avoid the mass murders that have exploded all over Europe, then we need to start telling it like it is in regards to Islam and radical Islamists.

Then there’s “the wall.” One friend of mine actually compared the construction of a wall along our southern border to the Berlin Wall! What?! I believe that we would eliminate a lot of crime with a big beautiful wall along the border.  We need to secure our borders. Deportation orders have to stick. We do not need amnesty, and we need more elected officials both in Washington and Sacramento to stop the amnesty-pandering.

For South Bay residents, illegal immigration is not as immediately detrimental to our quality of life, but the lawlessness along our borders will not stay there. How many of our South Bay youth get pushed aside or forced out of job opportunities and college courses because of legislation which puts illegal aliens first? Do we have to witness our own Kate Steinle murder along the Redondo Beach pier before South Bay residents take illegal immigration seriously?

Bad trade deals have not hurt South Bay communities as they have decimated the Rust Belt. Silicon Valley has remained immune to these distorted trade deals, and in many cases profits from them. However, a free market does not mean throwing your own country under the bus and allowing companies to abuse the H-1B process. I wonder how aerospace employees would feel if thousands of illegal alien engineers were crossing the border? Bad news: it’s already happening.

National security matters, and not just against international terrorism. Crime rates are up all over the country, including California. We do need a Law and Order President, someone who will put Americans first, not criminals, illegals, and dubious refuges.

Donald Trump has sacrificed key business contracts and taken other hits to his brand for speaking the truth on three issues: illegal immigration, imbalanced trade deals, and national security. These are the bread and butter issues which propelled an unknown Virginia professor over House Majority leader Eric Cantor in 2014. These are the same issues which will help Trump win the White House and restore the United States to a proper footing. The coalition of minorities and blue-collar voters which Trump is amassing across the country is just the strategy which California’s Republicans need to win, and can win if they focus on these goals: secure the border, improve the state’s economy, safeguard the homeland.

Is this an offensive and illogical platform? I think not.

I have grave concerns when elected officials declare outright #NeverTrump, even when they are Republicans. All the NeverTrumpers are wrong. I am voting for Donald Trump, and I hope you do, too.

There Should Be No Floor Fight Over Trump at the Convention

Republicans who do not like Trump, and who do not think that he should be the GOP nominee need to sit down and relax or just not show up to the convention in Cleveland.

Look, I supported three different candidates for President:

1. Scott Walker

2. Bobby Jindal

3. And finally Ted Cruz.

You know what? None of them made it.

Donald Trump won by record margins in state primaries, open or closed, throughout the country,

If you do not like the outcomes, then agitate for the RNC to take necessary steps to change the rules of the future.

For any uprising of voters, delegates, or frustrated partisans to thrown out the convention over Trump's fair victory is just ... unfair.

And wrong.

And immoral.

The party leaders and the elected officials--particularly those in Washington DC--have routinely failed to fight for our rights.

They have refused to do what is best for the country.

More of part leaders are proving themselves to be dedicated globalists rather than committed constitutionalists.

You don't like Donald Trump? Look, I am they guy who slammed him as a Democrat, who derided his rhetoric and his hold on reality, and still calls him a rodeo clown.

A bad-ass rodeo clown, by the way.

The delegate revolt in waiting is all wrong.

There should be no floor fight.

Donald Trump won the necessary delegates to clinch the  nomination.

Deal with it.

For the Christians, the pro-family advocates, and the pro-biology fighters who want the proper recognition of man and woman, you already have the power to make the necessary changes and restoration in our society.

Politics is about the art and advocacy of the citizen,

For too long, we have forgotten all of this.

You do not have to like the people who are running for office, but sometimes their pattern of actions better serves us.

There were teachers which I did not always like, but still I learned so much from them.

Men and women who have served our country in combat endured some of the most difficult, oppressive training imaginable.

But they are glad that they went through it.

No, frustrated conservatives, the answer to your Trumper-Tantrums is not more lawlessness.

George Will chose to leave the Republican Party. Fine.

Red State editor Erick Erickson and Media Research Center Brent Bozell are still pouting. Ben Shapiro is an inspiring conservative fighter for the cause, too.

Yet like the other two, he needs to get over the fact that Trump is the nominee, whether they like it or not, and trying to derail his chances will not guarantee much good for the country.

Instead of throwing a fit their fizzled advocacy of Walker, Jindal, or Cruz, they need to ask why their message about free markets, free enterprise, and free people is no resonating with average Americans. The message needs to start permeating back into our local schools and cities. The blogosphore, convention-o-sphere, the seminar-o-sphere is not enough. Working people who are suffering the greater brunt of hurt, upset, and outrage from the Big Business, Big Amnesty, Big Homosexual Lobby buying up both side of the aisle in Washington DC.

And yet … many of the media outlets are not really concerned about these real-life concerns. Conservatives lament the growth of the state, the hampering of the free marketing, the attacks on the sharing economy. What are they doing about it?

The theo-cons, of which I am proudly one of them. Steve Deace and I were seeing eye to eye all the way until the end, i.e. when Ted Cruz dropped out of the race, losing traditionally conservative Indiana by double-digits, and not one delegate. Right now, I don’t have clear answers about why Cruz and the Christian coalition failed. Bitterness towards Trump’s nomination will not solve this problem, and pre-empting the convention will only make matters worse.

Then there are the neo-cons. Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol needs to recognize that overseas nation-building is not in the best interest of this country right now, and a strong America focused on its own domestic needs will ensure a strong Israel in the face of the weak, weakened, rabid Islamic tyrannies throughout the Middle East.

There concerns have been ideological, not imminent or realistic. In this regard, Beltway conservatives have lost touch with the rough life and times of working, striving, struggling Middle America,

Get over it, people. Stop fighting it, Never Trumpers.

He won the nomination. Just go with it or go away.
