Outrageous: DA Won't Seek Death Penalty Against Westlake Five Illegal Alien Arsonist

June 14th, 2016, illegal alien transient Johnny Josue Sanchez set fire to an abandoned warehouse in retaliation against another homeless squatter.

Johnny Sanchez of Honduras, arrested

His fire ended up murdering five Americans and nearly killed two others.

I found out about this story through a contact who monitors illegal alien crimes in the news, including the Los Angeles area. Five days later, I went to the site of that abandoned warehouse, with the smokestains still singed around the borders of the windows.

I still remember the stench of the the burned areas all around. Within minutes of our arrival at the scene, a yound lady named Choda arrived, in tears. Her husband Deandre Mitchell was one of the five victims. He had a nickname "Jokerface", and that's all that the LA Times article reported.

Honoring the Loss
of the Westlake Five

This sudden encounter helped capture the tragedy of these terrible crimes. Foreign nationals break into our country, commit repeat offenses, receive little punishment, then reoffend.

What happens when they murder our citizens? Yes, they get caught, convicted, incarcerated. However, we the taxpayers have to shoulder the costs of their room and board in our country.

What's worse, aside from the report published by the LA Times, the press will not report that these scum are illegal aliens!

In this report, the DA's office announced that they won't pursue the death penalty against this evil man:

POSTED BY CONTRIBUTING EDITOR ON JUNE 13, 2018 IN CRIME | 76 VIEWS |

Prosecutors announced Wednesday that they won’t seek the death penalty against a man charged with setting a June 2016 fire that killed five people in a vacant commercial building in the Westlake district where a group of transients were living.

From the top left corner going clockwise:
Joseph Proenneke, Dean Clemons, Tierra Stansberry, Mary Ann Davis

Johnny Josue Sanchez, 23, is charged with five counts of murder for the June 13, 2016 deaths of De Andre Mitchell, Jerry Dean Clemons, Mary Ann Davis, Joseph Proenneke and Tierra Stansberry, along with two counts of attempted murder involving two people who were rescued from the burning building.

The five people were not transients themselves. Dean Clemons and Mary Ann Davis were Joseph's biological parents. They all planned to meet together in Los Angeles.

The murder charges include the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder during the commission of an arson.

Special circumstances notwithstanding, the DA won't pursue the death penalty.

Authorities allege that Sanchez intentionally set the blaze because he had been involved in a dispute with another transient in the vacant building at 2411 W. Eighth St., near MacArthur Park.

One man was initially declared dead as a result of the fire, which swept through the building where homeless people had been living. Cadaver dogs and their handlers discovered the bodies of four more people “huddled up” in the ruins of the two-story structure the next day, Los Angeles Fire Department arson investigator Lance Jimenez testified at a hearing in March in which Sanchez was ordered to stand trial.

They wanted to get out, but they couldn't escape. Terrible. I can't imagine the horror which swept through their minds as the fire, or rather fires, engulfed the entire building.

The arson investigator testified that the fire had two areas of origin and that he was able to rule out the possibility that the blaze had been accidentally caused.

Sanchez was arrested that night by Los Angeles police and has remained jailed without bail.

He is due back at the downtown Los Angeles courthouse July 17 for a pretrial hearing, and could now face a maximum of life in prison without the possibility of parole if he is convicted as charged.

Final Reflection

Notice that not once did the article mention that Sanchez was an illegal alien. The report didn't even print "undocumented", even though that term is inappropriate and inefficient.

When people challenge the argument that illegal aliens commit a disproportionate number of crimes, our answer must reference how often the media and the government refuse to report the nature of these terrible crimes.

For now, it is nothing but tragedy, and the true solace that comes with justice served has become a little more elusive.

UPDATE

Robin Hvidston, the California Director for the Remembrance Project and the leader for We the People Rising, reported the following about this unfortunate update:

Deputy District Attorney Sean M. Carney was a major force behind seeking the death penalty in the case of illegal alien Johnny Josue Sanchez who killed 5 Americans.

"Deputy District Attorney Sean M. Carney said that a committee is considering the death penalty charge. He said that their office has a great record on successfully prosecuting death penalty cases when he was asked about the likelihood of a death penalty charge in the case."  October 16, 2016. It was explained repeatedly to those of  from The Remembrance Project attending the court hearings, that the death penalty would be going forward in this case.

However, Deputy DA Sean Carney was no longer on the case as of the court hearing on 1/10/18.

His understudy, Deputy  District Attorney Joy Roberts, took over the case.  Then, in June 2018, it was announced the killer of 5 Americans will not be charged with a death penalty - just life in prison without the possibility of parole.

This is a major disappointment and setback to not charge the death penalty, and does not provide justice for those 5 Americans who lost their lives.

Visiting Senator Chuck Grassley's Office

On Monday, September 18, before flying back to Los Angeles, I went to as many US Senators' offices as I could.

I wanted to go Senator Chuck Grassley's office because I wanted to make sure that the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee would stop any amnesty legislation from coming through his committee.

Then I remembered the time and resources he used to investigate the deaths of Tierra Stansberry, DeAndre Mitchell, and three others at the McArthur Park-Westlake warehouse last June.

That event was traumatic for me, a tragic event right in my own backyard. Five Americans murdered in an abandoned warehouse, set ablaze by a hostile, criminal illegal alien who had been arrested before yet released back onto our streets.

When I mentioned this terrible case to the staffers, they remembered exactly what I was talking about.

Thank you, Senator Grassley.

Let's send the message loud and clear to Congress and to the Chairman:

No DACA!

No Amnesty!

No Open Borders USA!

May 22, 2017: The Remembrance Project at Senator De Leon's Office

After the court hearing for Johnny Sanchez, The Remembrance Project paid a visit to Senator Kevin De Leon's district office in Echo Park:

As Remembrance Project volunteers, we stuck to a very clear set of points and principles.

We drove over to his office as uickly and as uietly

Arriving at the district office, we met with one of the staffers. Instead of disrespect and disregard, the staffer did listen to us:

And here's the full video of the Remembrance Project visit and presentation in Kevin De Leon's Office:

Reflection:

Why did the Remembrance Project go out of its way to pay a surprise visit to State Senator Kevin De Leon?

1. He is the author of SB 54, the sanctuary state bill, which will all but assure more deaths like those of the Westlake Five:

2. His insensitivy to this issue mandates that we put a human face on illegal immigration.

3. The murders occured in De Leon's district.

4. DeAndre Mitchell, one of the five killed in the fire, was a constituent of De Leon.

5. To this day, Senator De Leon has issued no public statement denouncing the savage murder of five Americans in his district at the hands of an illegal alien.

Janice and Janet
Illegal immigration is not a victimless crime. Period.

Check out Robin Hvidston giving De Leon's staffer a picture of DeAndre Mitchell, one of the five Americans killed by illegal alien Johnny Sanchez in the abandoned warehouse:

She then gave to the staffer a copy of the letter from US Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, to get answers about the ilelgal aliens and the death of five Americans.

Last time, members of We the People Rising (who also serve with the Remembrance Project), were met with disrespect and hostility. The staffers even called the police on the constituents

This time, the reception was more cordial:

Here are a few other members of the Remembrance Project, with the uilts to commemorate mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters murdered by illegal aliens:

The staffer listened to different members of the Remembrance Project Team, too

Final Reflection

The staffer was polite, but showed herself to be annoyed.

She had no interest in really taking charge of the issues afflicting the district and the state.

The Remembrance Project has taken every possible step to hold elected officials accountable. They took an oath to uphold and defend the United States Constitution. This oath includes respecting the integrity of our nation's borders and cooperation with federal authorities.

De Leon's pet bill SB 54 would undermine this oath of office--and endanger countless lives in the state of California.

We do not need one more face added the Remembrance Project legacy.

Let's rather remember that the United States is the greatest country in the world, and We the People have every right for our borders to be secured.

May 22, 2017: Courthouse Hearing for the Westlake-MacArthur Park Five

The Remembrance Project attends the court hearings for illegal aliens who have murdered American citizens in our country.

They take the time and effort to ensure that every American citizen is not forgotten, even if the federal and state governments refuse to keep track of illegal aliens in our country and refuse to comply with and enforce our nation's immigration laws.

Over the past two years, since I met Robin Hvidston, the California Director of the Remembrance Project, I did not have time to join the rest of her team in court hearings in Los Angeles County.

On May 22, I finally had the chance.

Ever since I learned about the terrible fire set by Honduran illegal alien Johnny Sanchez, I wanted to ensure justice for Tierra Stansberry, DeAndre Mitchell and the other three Americans killed in the fire:

Here are the five victims murdered in the fire set by an illegal alien:

And here's the evil creep who killed these five Americans:

The hearing took place at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, and it was clear to me that the courthouse is packed on any given day. The outside of the building and the corridors throughout the court house are pretty old, but the court chambers are state of the art.

It was surprising to me to enter Department 30, where the next preliminary hearing was held, and to find pew-like benches instead of individal seats. The court was not overflowing with people, which is a good thing, I suppose, From the outset, the deputy sheriffs on site instructed everyone to put their phones away and turn them off. No exeptions.

It's a very tightly-run event, and sometimes the Remembrance Project volunteers have to stay until the afternoon before the suspect is brought up for the hearing.

This morning, we were fortunate enough for the case against Johnny Sanchez to come up very early.

The next preliminary hearing, with all the evidence presented for trial, will not be until late July.

In the meantime, the deputy district attorney met with us in the courthouse hallway:

Robin helped connect DeAndre's mother with the Deputy DA.

Then we went outside:

Reflection:

This is terrible.

Five Americans murdered in their own country by an illegal alien.

The crime occured in June 2016. It's been a  year, and a trial still has not been set yet. It took one year just for the deputy DA to collect the autopsy reports about the deaths.

Another preliminary hearing is coming up in July?!

Indeed, the wheels of justice move slowly in Los Angeles County. In the meantime, the taxpayers are feeding and clothing the illegal alien, all while homeless, veterans, the mentally ill, and other at-risk groups struggle to survive. Homeowners and taxpayers are moving out of a county which is more dedicated to the needs of illegal aliens, while American citizens do not feel safe in their own communiities.

Thankfully, Deputy DA Roberts is on the case. Let's just hope that justice will be served as soon as possible, and that Donald Trump builds that wall as soon as possible!

An illegal - with a record of domestic abuse and drug charges - Johnny Josue Sanchez of Honduras killed 5 Americans, on 6/13/16 when he set an intentional fire at an abandoned L.A. building.

CA members of The Remembrance Project were present at his court hearing at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on 5/22/17.

Johnny Josue Sanchez was led into the prison box of the courtroom, wearing the navy blue jail jumpsuit.  He requires a Spanish interpreter. There was a brief exchange between Deputy District Attorney Joy Roberts and the Public Defender Victor Patterson, the attorney for the illegal.

Judge Mark Hanasono was the presiding judge.

Deputy District Attorney Joy Roberts met with the CA members of The Remembrance Project after the hearing.

SOME GOOD NEWS!
After a delay of almost one year, the coroner's office finally completed the autopsy report, which indicates the case can move forward to the preliminary hearing phase.

The next court hearing will be on  7/17/17. Deputy District Attorney Joy Roberts stated that the preliminary hearing may go forward in September 2017. She said that Detective King is focused upon and dedicated to working on the case.

The mother of Deandre Mitchell, one of the five Americans killed, called during the impromptu meeting with the district deputy attorney and participated via the cell phone.

Clinton, Johnson, and the Black Hole of Secular Tyranny

In California, conservatives have just finished one fight defending freedom of conscience against the onslaught of the LGBT agenda. SB1146—the Kill Christian Colleges Bill—is still up for a vote, but has been amended many times, and more Democrats are starting to get cold feet about the invasion of the state into citizens’ spiritual affiliations.

California-based dating site Christian Mingle has caved to the Big Gay Hat Machine. Parents must contend with their kids learning LGBT history.

Fortunately, pro-family forces are waking up in secular, statist California. They recognize that our work is cut out for us. We can win this fight, but we need to accept two sets forward, one step to the side in this journey.

Christianity—and Christians—are under attack in this country. Christian bakers, florist, photographers, pizza parlors must compromise their convictions or face shame, fines, even jail time! There’s another reason I am gladly on the Trump train. Donald Trump recognizes the unprecedented assault on the First Amendment, particularly freedom of religion. He wants to repeal the Johnson Amendment.

And speaking of Johnson  …

For all the Never Trumpers still pouting, let me explain why your other two major options are completely impalatable, and why you should cast them out before they possess more of our dithering, unsure electorate and set this country on the road to serfdom November 8th.

Hillary Clinton is not just a liar, a thief, an ambitious Wall Street hag with murder in her eyes for anyone who stands in her way.

She is a statist, and a secular one.

I don’t care how many church services she’s attended, or how many preachers praise her, or how many congregations lay hands on her.

She has no regard for the transcendent, or for the Constitution. And our Founding Charter has great respect for the Divine, especially to “secure the blessings of liberty.”

That First Amendment has this distinct first clause: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof …”

And yet …

These are her words about the free exercise of religion in her social order, and only in relation to abortion.

“Far too many women are still denied critical access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth. All the laws we’ve passed don’t count for much if they’re not enforced,” Clinton said, using the euphemism for abortion.”

I am not sure which country she’s talking about. Some third-world country, perhaps. If she is talking about this country, she must be thinking of those run-down, Democratic dominated third-tier urban ghettos.

Clinton continues:

“Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper. Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”

WHAT?!

Surprisingly, the conservative media (no surprises about the Big Three Mainstream media) did not blast this admission, then blast Clinton.  She wants tyranny, pure and simple. Russia has already banned evangelism in the name of national security. Now we have Presidential candidates debating whether the First Amendment should remain.

Clinton has also shamed Orthodox Judaism for its strictures regarding men’s comportment with women. But her distressing comments about “religious beliefs” should leave no doubt about her schemes.

Rest assured, she will not stop with forcing religious convictions to cave on baby-killing. You will have to bake the gay wedding cake, officiate the gay wedding, learn about the gay lifestyle, and march in gay pride parades—or else!

Then there’s Gary Johnson.

This guy fails the liberty test—from the Second Amendment to abortion.
But worst of all, on the First Amendment.

Instead of listening to the rising chorus (or Gospel Choir) of concerns, Johnson doubled-down on his secular, statist “Bake that Cake” mentality.

In a recent interview with Washington Examiner, Johnson compared freedom of conscience to invidious discrimination:

“[I]f we allow for discrimination, we're gonna open up a can of worms when it come stop discrimination of all forms, starting with Muslims … who knows. You're narrowly looking at a situation where if you broaden that, I just tell you — on the basis of religious freedom, being able to discriminate — something that is currently not allowed — discrimination will exist in places we never dreamed of."

I reprint the entire passage to showcase the intricate, but ultimately failed tap-dancing Johnson engages in to avoid sounding like a bigoted or narrow-minded politico about religious liberty.
But then the shocker:

“I just see religious freedom, as a category, as just being a black hole."

EXCUSE ME?!

The United States was founded on religious liberty. Men and women of conscience were fleeing persecution, seeking a better life, where they could worship according to informed and private discernment, as opposed to government diktat.

Johnson’s understanding of history has fallen down the Memory Hole. All beliefs are equal before the state, unless the homosexual, atheist, pantheist, or Miley Cyrus objects.

Johnson and Clinton are coming in like a wrecking ball, knocking down the wall of separation that Jefferson was writing about with the Danbury, Connecticut congregations. That demarcation was not about keeping God out of our society, but rather keeping the government out of our preaching, teaching, and practice of faith.

For Johnson and Clinton to reject religious liberty because crazies (i.e. not progressive) would justify murder in the name of God, is (to quote Ian Tuttle of the National Review): “A-grade, five-star, top-shelf stupid.”

Our nation’s Founding Charter, and Founders, settled concerns about abuse of power under the guise of religious liberty.

From Thomas Jefferson (again): “But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.”

Religious liberty defines a free society, causing no harm to person or property. Refusing to bake a cake for an event will not awaken a crisis. As President, Johnson or Clinton would push this country down a black hole from which we may never escape.

For Donald Trump, All Lives Matter

For the past year, I wanted anyone but Trump.

After Indiana, I submitted. Cruz was just not appealing enough. Trump resonated with the vast swath of the No Longer Silent Majority.

Why?

Immigration, Trade, and National Security weigh the heaviest on American voters’ hearts and minds. While Cruz was measuring up to the conservative ideology checklist, and Scott Walker celebrated his resume lined with incredible reforms, Trump could see eye to eye with what was bothering people. He had a better mind for what was on their mind.

In Los Angeles, Republicans are fiscally conservative and socially liberal, or religious conservatives driven by those distinct values. Both niches were not clear targets for a Trump campaign. In my home in the South Bay region of Los Angeles, those three issues do not really affect us. That’s why ideological rigor was essential and a resume appealed to me more.

Don’t mistake my reluctance to support Trump. I care about those concerns, but there were not gut issues for me the way they are for the widespread majority of Americans. I have a great job, live in a safe place, and imbalanced globalization has not adversely affected the South Bay.

Everywhere else, corporate cronyism has tilted the marketplace away from the hard-working, honest business owner to the well-financed industrial behemoths with the right Washington contacts.  Citizens are despised, illegals are protected, and the feds want to take our guns away.

Trump’s message on immigration, trade, and security courted those voters effectively. Washington’s aloof inattention, coupled with the robust pandering of Big Business and Big Labor, has done enough damage. Trump is the channel for a national electorate that is mad as hell, and won’t take it anymore.

Particularly on immigration.

This embittering lawlessness hits the hardest on the families of the Remembrance Project. Founded in 2009, this group commemorates the lives of Americans, young and old, who have been killed by illegal aliens in their own country. One of their most telling statements drives the point of their mission: “Every state is a border state.”

Indeed, illegal immigration is not a victimless crime, and for the thousands of grieving Americans who have lost loved ones to illegals, our porous, unsecured borders are wreaking unfathomable harm. Contrary to the polite, politically correct notion that illegal immigration is “an act of love”, The Remembrance Project reminds Congress and informs the public that secure borders are an undebatable necessity.

I have worked with the pro-immigration enforcement group We the People Rising for the past year—whose leader Robin Hvidston also serves as California Director for the Remembrance Project. It never really dawned on me till now how severe, how deeply wounding is the loss of a loved one to the senseless violence of illegal aliens.

If our federal officials had secured our borders, the families of Dominic Durden, Jamiel Shaw Jr., Marcello Bisarello and Tierra Stansberry (and thousands more) would not be in mourning. The Stansberry death was the most jarring. She was burned alive in a fire, along with four others, set by an illegal alien in an abandoned Los Angeles warehouse. I visited the site, and met the widow of one of the victims.  Finally, I recognized the irreparable harm of illegal immigration. Not just an idea, but a fact, and a series of wrongs which The Remembrance Project is fighting to remedy.

This group reached out to every Presidential candidate. Most politicians flee from them, since they want to court votes, not controversy, and major donors, which steer clear of such stark tragedies. The Remembrance Project cannot endorse candidates, either, which may remove any incentive for a politician to meet with them.

Only one responded in turn with respect and regard for their work:

Donald J. Trump.

Here is the press release which the Trump campaign issued shortly after contact from The Remembrance Project:

"Donald Trump, who has been honored to receive the endorsement of the Border Patrol Union, will always stand by the victims of illegal immigrant violence.  A Trump Administration will support this important initiative from the Remembrance Project to provide legal and support services to the surviving families, which can easily be funded by eliminating welfare payment to illegal immigrant households.  We will deliver justice for the families and, at last, put Americans first."

This is not racism, xenophobia, bigotry, or paranoia. This is patriotism, this is heroism.
This is what we need guiding us and governing over us.

In the past I called Trump a Democrat, a rodeo clown, although I never saw him as a racist. Today, I understand why a diligent community of activists look up to Trump as their next President. No one can question his ardent affection for the Remembrance Project, either.

In April, he welcomed members of the Remembrance Project to accompany him on stage at his Costa Mesa rally.

In May, Trump stopped glad-handing Anaheim, California’s roaring crowds to connect with members of the Project. He kissed the posters commemorating the victims of illegal aliens. He signed off on every one of them. One of the members named Sabine Durden called out to him. “I’m a legal immigrant, and I will vote for you 100%.”

At the RNC Convention, these key speakers addressed the convention: Mary Ann Mendoza, Sabine Durden, and Jamiel Shaw.

Mendoza: “It’s time that we have an administration that cares more about Americans than about illegals.”

Durden: “I have been talking about illegal immigration for years. No one listened, until Donald Trump.”

Jamiel Shaw described the day in court, when his son’s murderer was convicted: “The killer’s gang targeted black males.  You’d think Obama cared … and black lives matter.”

With Trump, it’s clear that victims’ lives matter.

Trump has lost business contracts, and has suffered intense hatred from the press and the establishment. Yet he has honored the Remembrance Project, even when the politicians and major media were not paying attention.

And that matters a great deal to me.

Today I endorse without hesitation: Vote for Donald Trump!
