CPAC Sucks

A number of commentators faulted Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for not attending CPAC this year.

Most likely, he was invited, but turned it down. The MAGA-Conservative intelligentsia on the blogs think that DeSantis is already showing some establishment leanings, that he is making a mistake not connecting with the grassroots at CPAC.

The truth is that lots of people skipped CPAC this year.

Stacey Lennox remarked that CPAC has reached the end of its influence, hollowed out to a “Only Trump” contingent that shows no interest in really talking with anyone else. Governor Chris Christie, whose non-invite invited massive speculation and inquiry from the press, left and right, remarked that the room was half-full when Trump addressed the crowd.

The Trump-Trump-Trump MAGA MAGA schtick has gotten old. CPAC has turned into ultimate in MAGA Grift, and now that Trump is no longer in office, the momentum has worn off.

But there’s more beneath the surface as to why CPAC now sucks.

A friend of mine, an independent journalist from Massachusetts, attended the event to record the speeches and meet with activists. One of the media agents in attendance? The Southern Poverty Law Center. This hate group from Alabama is not even media in any respectable sense, but a hate group dedicated to fundraising and smearing anyone they disagree with (predominantly conservatives). How could CPAC possibly consider them media, and even allow them a table at the event?!

And it gets worse.

CPAC has dedicated its time and energy to rolling out the rainbow carpet for homosexuals and transgenders, even those these aberrant, destructive behaviors are far from conservative. The corruption of identity politics, social liberalism, all advertised under the guise of “libertarianism” has so infected the conference. The normalization of homosexuality at CPAC goes as far back as 2010, when one of the keynote speakers at the conference, Ryan Sorba, condemned the gathering for allowing GOProud to attend the event. There was widespread booing in the audience, but at least the host came to the mike to defend Sorba’s comments.

Remark well that that level of LGBT hostility was already in display at CPAC as far back as 2010, at the height of the Tea Party movement crashing against Barack Obama’s efforts to fundamentally transform America. Even then, Obama was still opposing “gay” marriage, yet among the conservative who’s-who who attended CPAC, it was taboo and “bad taste” for anyone to criticize sodomy and transvestism as not conservative … even though it is not conservative to begin with.

And it gets worse. In 2018, when MassResistance (the effective international pro-family organization that I work for) was offered the opportunity to host a booth at the conference. CPAC organizers went out of their way to line them up and invite them in. Then all of a sudden, MassResistance’s application was rejected and they were cancelled. WHAT?!

(And remember that CPAC advertised one of their recent conferences as “America Uncancelled.” Sure!)

A number of conservative organizations took MassResistance’s side on this fracas, and even Michelle Malkin weighed in on MassRedsistance’s side a few years later. Malkin also exposed the corporate, pro-open borders lobbies that had been funding CPAC, as well.

The whole CPAC circus reminds me of that tone-deaf press conference/rally that Trump had in South Carolina earlier this year. Trump declares the usual MAGA-boilerplate talking points about going after the Deep State, draining the Swamp, taking the fight to the Dems, and cleaning out the RINOs. And all while Trump was piling on his red-meat pledges, right next to him stood Lindsey Graham, the biggest RINO in the crash. Why does Lindsey Graham get top billing at Trump Rallies, even though he actively thwarts his agenda every chance he gets?

Flattery, and Trump buys into it. And that’s what CPAC has turned into: a Trump flattery circle-jerk. They grovel for the MAGA grift as fast as they can, hoping to get an easy buck.

And that’s why it’s crashing and burning.

They celebrate drag queens, and they kick out pro-family activists who actually win the culture war.

Homosexuals get drunk off their butts wander freely and look for screen time.

The leadership for CPAC, Matt Schlapp, faces allegations of sexual misconduct, but no one seems to care.

When alternative journalists show up, they get shown the door (see what happened to Owen Shroyer of InfoWars here.)

And who can forget the Golden Calf, er Statue dedicated to (or deifying?) President Donald Trump? Yes, it’s crystal clear to anyone who is paying attention that CPAC is not longer about advancing or advocating conservative values. It’s turned into a self-righteous fawning expedition for grifters looking to cash in on gullible MAGA types who want to feel good and be “part of something.”

Thankfully this year, there were far fewer people there to be part of anything in the first place, since so few people attend in the first place.

Governor Ron DeSantis made the right move by not attending CPAC. There is no point in talking to an audience full of “Trump No Matter What” sycophants who are going to give Trump the win via the biased, skewed, and useless straw poll. DeSantis wasn’t ignoring the working or middle-class or grassroots crowd, since podcasters looking to cut some clips and make some money is what CPAC has been reduced to. If you want to run for President, you need to raise your name, game, and fame. That takes money and connections, and neither of them are in large supply at CPAC.

I would go one step further why CPAC sucks, and it goes beyond the fact that it’s turn into a RINO shill grift-fest. I think lots of conservatives, constitutionalists, etc. see the country in a really bad shape, in a really bad state. Great speeches, nice rallies, stirring talking points just aren’t enough anymore. No longer conservative, no longer engaging, no longer a robust convocation of communities within the conservative movement, CPAC needs to pack it up and say “See ya.”

Maryland Website Confirms: LGBT is Harmful to Your Health

https://www.fmh.org/News-Calendar/News/2019/June/Our-Commitment-to-LGBTQ-Healthcare-Equity.aspx

This is a common problem among the LGBT scene.

The health problems which affect homosexuals and transgenders simply cannot be ignored.

It must be confronted, and people have to have the courage to say: "It's your lifestyle that is killing you!"

Our bodies were not designed for physical intimacy between two people of the same sex.

That is not love. That is actually a form of hate. Let's just call it what it is. It is self-loathing for men and women who attempt to engage someone of the same sex sexually.

One statement from this Frederick County, Maryland website, does not quite understand the issue:

Health disparities have been well documented among the LGBTQ community ...

Indeed, they are all too prevalent.

But the website gets it wrong as to why:

... and one cause is the lack of confidence in their health provider or staff because of stigma, bias, or failure to help. This is not unique to Frederick County—many transgender patients across the country, for example, have reported being harassed in a doctor’s office, been denied medical care, or avoided seeking healthcare fear of being mistreated.

The problems are inherently fraught with disease, dysfunction, and death.

The stigma is a natural response to unnatural behaviors. Simple as that.

Winning! Assisted Suicide Fails in Maryland

Our pro-life reporting is being attacked. So is the truth. We can’t back down in the fight against abortion!
View this email in your browser
Arthur,
Legislation in Maryland, which would have permitted physicians to prescribe a lethal dose of drugs to kill terminally-ill patients, was defeated in the Maryland Senate, in a tied vote that fell one short of the majority needed to pass.

In spite of the narrow tally (23-23), this vote represents a great victory for sick, poor, and vulnerable people in Maryland, as well as for the pro-life community, both in Maryland and nationally.

And, we thank all our readers who both participated in the petition and prayed for this outcome!

YOUR signatures and prayers played an essential role in defeating this bill!

Before the vote, I was in contact with three Maryland State Senators, including the Senate President -- so, everyone knew about your petition! And, at that time, Senate President Miller was even predicting a narrow passage for the bill (though, in the end, he, himself, did not vote for the measure).

But, thank God, it was not meant to be!

Sick and vulnerable Marylanders are still safe from being pressurized into taking their lives!

Thankfully, there was a lot of local, grassroots opposition to this bill, but national organizations have long targeted Maryland on this issue - trying to get the state to become the seventh in the country to legalize Physician-Assisted Suicide.

However, the ramifications of the "choice" propounded by those proposing the legislation were ultimately understood as dangerous and destructive.

“Allowing doctors to prescribe lethal doses of addictive drugs with no way to make sure those drugs don't end up in the wrong hands or on our streets is bad policy,” the Maryland Catholic Conference argued.

“And there is nothing in this bill to ensure that insurance companies don't deny coverage of life-saving treatments and instead fully pay for these lethal drugs because it's more cost efficient to end life than it is to save it.”

As a Marylander, myself, I must tell you that it was a great feeling of relief to see the lives of the vulnerable, the disabled and the poor remain protected by law.

However, we need to remain vigilant for next year and the year after.

If such legislation were ever passed, there is no reason to assume that Maryland would not become like Holland, where one-in-four of all deaths are now induced by so-called ‘medical professionals.’

A 'euthanasia culture' obviously causes more people to want to die, as well as probably a lot of lazy, indifferent, and downright bloody-minded medical treatment.

This is not something we want in Maryland (or, any other state, for that matter). So, we will continue to oppose this kind of legislation, both, here, nationally and internationally.

Thank you, again, for standing strong for Life!

Yours faithfully,

Scott Schittl and the whole team at LifeSite

Election 2018: US Senate Races to Consider

Election 2018 presents a formidable map for Democrats but plenty of opportunities for Republicans.

Ten of the US Senate seats up for re-election are in states which either Romney and Trump won in 2012, or states which Trump won in 2016.

I think that Republican chances of flipping seats in the Rust Belt are somewhat possible, even if those incumbents have been in office for two or more terms.

The map should have gone Republican's way somewhat in 2012, but Barack Obama was at the top of the ticket, and Romney was not the draw which Republican voters were looking for.

Here are two US Senate Seats which I think that the National Republican Senatorial Committee have written off, but which may come into play, even if the Democrat hangs onto the seat ultimately in November. Seats can be competitive even if the incumbent still wins because the National Democratic Senatorial Committee will have to thrown in more money than anticipated to keep the seat.

1. New Jersey.

Mendacious Robert Menendez survived a corruption trial from last year, but his popularity numbers are really low. New Jersey Democrats voted for his no-name primary challenger by 38%, and she had no money or name recognition to be challenge Menendez with any real power or influence.

New Jersey voters have faced a similar problem before. In 2002, incumbent Democratic US Senator Robert Torricelli was neck-deep in corruption and ethics scandals. The Democrats removed Torricelli and placed another candidate on the ballot, retired US Senator Frank Lautenberg. The New Jersey Republicans challenged this move in federal court, but the Supremes denied certiorari for whatever reason. The New Jersey Republicans really had a chance against Torricelli, who was losing by double-digits to his Republican challenger that year. It was stunning that the Supreme Court refused to do anything!

Will this be the time and chance for New Jersey GOP to get the seat which had eluded them in 2002?

One other thing: the Republican nominee Bob Hugin has a huge personal warchest for a statewide campaign, and he will be spending big money against Menendez to unseat him. The last poll for the race had Menendez at a weak 4% margin ahead of his Republican challenger.

2. Maryland.

Chelsea Manning is running a newsy primary challenge against incumbent Establishment Democrat Ben Cardin. One Maryland Republican leader told me that there is no way that Manning could sweep the primary against Cardin.

But what if he does? The guy who betrayed the United States, who faced court martial and prison time, who "transitioned" from male to female, who received an unjustified pardon from President Obama, the same candidate is firing up the progressive wing in Maryland Democratic Party politics.

Even if Cardin carries the primary by double-digits, a popular Republican incumbent is running for Governor: Larry Hogan. It's possible that he will not only bring up the ticket for all Republicans, but that disaffected working Democrats and independents will look at the insane Dem primary a second time and decide to vote Republican or not even vote at all!

Imagine a US Senate race competitive in the Old Line State!

It's possible, and Democrats will have to spend some kind of money for Cardin regardless of how well or how poorly Chelsea Manning does.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan: "I Work For You"

We need more governors in states across the country sending out similar eblasts and messages to their constituents.

All of them.

Maryland is a blue state, 2-to-1 Democratic, yet the Old Line State has a Republican Governor, and following Election 2014, Republicans controlled five of the nine county boards.

That's a commendable record for a state government where the people got tired of being pushed around and taxed to death. People got angry enough, and Larry Hogan provided an engine of change through his non-partisan organization "Change Maryland" to make a difference.

What do you want him to know?

Arthur,
When people ask me about the secret to our success, I have one answer: I listen.
Since Day One, I promised to put Maryland on a new path and create a brighter future for our citizens. I’ve worked to unite communities from all across Maryland to let them know they have a voice in our government — and I want to be sure I’m always listening — I want to hear what you think.
I didn’t look to Washington to tell me how to fix our economy. I talked to veteran small business owners, the entrepreneurs who were just getting started, and the workers who power our state to see what they needed to succeed.

I didn’t learn about frustrations and fear experienced by Baltimoreans during the riots by staring at my TV. I immediately moved my entire office to Baltimore where I walked the streets talking to people to ensure that peace and order were brought to our largest city.
To Washington, this might be unheard of. But to me, it’s common sense. And that right there is our recipe for success.
Throughout the three and a half years after taking the oath of office, I have led by those same principles. Now I need your help to continue to change Maryland for the better.
Thank you,
Gov. Hogan
Larry Hogan

Fight "Sanctuary State" Status in Maryland

Kathy Szeliga has been one of the most forward-leaning members of the Maryland State Legislature.

She fought against assisted suicide legislation and won.

She helped to lead the fight to end sanctuary state legislation from passing in Annapolis, too.

Now she's advancing a bill which would require local and state law enforcement to cooperate with ICE and turn over all illegals sought under ICE detainers.

Check out her petition and appeal:

Sanctuary State Update - ACTION NEEDED!

Some in Annapolis would like to turn Maryland into a Sanctuary State for illegal immigrants. Most people think this is not the right track for Maryland.

I am the sponsor of HB 1308, Keep Our Communities Safe Act of 2018.

This bill will require law enforcement to turn over illegal immigrants who have been convicted of a crime to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) if asked. Common sense dictates that illegal immigrants who have both entered our country illegally then proceeded to commit crimes should be turned over to the proper federal authorities. Maryland should not protect criminal illegal immigrants. The bill hearing for HB 1308 is on March 13 in the House Judiciary Committee. I have 48 of the 50 House Republicans cosponsoring this legislation.

SIGN THE PETITION!! SAY NO TO SANCTUARY STATE STATUS

There have been 14 bills introduced in Annapolis this year regarding immigration issues. On the other hand, the pro Sanctuary State bill introduced last year has been introduced again this year. HB 1461, Criminal Procedure - Immigration - Supporting All Families Everywhere, will essentially establish Maryland as a Sanctuary State. HB 1461 is also being heard on March 13 in the House Judiciary Committee.

Should you wish to submit written testimony in on either or both HB 1308, Keep our Communities Safe Act, or HB 1461, Make Maryland a Sanctuary State Act, you can email your testimony to me at Kathy.szeliga@house.state.md.us. It is due to me by March 12 so that we can get it to the House Judiciary Committee on time.

Parishioner Protection Act of 2018

Churches and other places of worship have increasingly become soft targets.

We cannot forget the tragic church massacre in Texas were a madman killed 26 people and wounded 20 others. In Charleston, June 2015, another murderer opened fire during a church Bible study killing 9 people.

The nature of worship centers leaves parishioners vulnerable. With our minds on spiritual things and our backs to the door, places of worship are soft targets. In our rural communities, law enforcement can be 20 or 30 minutes away from responding to an intruder set on doing harm.

Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler and I are behind an effort to help our churches defend their parishioners. HB 758, The Parishioner Protection Act of 2018http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/frmMain.aspx?pid=billpage&tab=subject3&id=hb0758&stab=01&ys=2018RS will permit the wearing and carrying of a concealed handgun on church owned property by any "law abiding" member of the congregation providing they have written permission from the governing body of the church and are legally able to possess a firearm in the State of Maryland.

Should this bill pass, it will allow places of worship to provide this type of protection for their congregation but it will not force any religious institution to participate.

The bill hearing for HB 758 is Tuesday, March 6 in the House Judiciary Committee. The Harford County Delegation and I are submitting an amendment to make this a pilot program in Harford County if the committee is not ready to embrace this statewide.

Transparency Act - What are they hiding?

Once again this year, I have introduced a bill to require video streaming of the House and Senate floor sessions, HB 704, Live and Archived Video Streaming of Meetings. http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/frmMain.aspx?id=hb0704&stab=01&pid=billpage&tab=subject3&ys=2018RS

Maryland is one of last states to allow transparent and open access to their House and Senate floor meetings through video streaming. Governor Hogan has a similar bill and has committed the money necessary to carry this out. It may be another year before this common sense legislation passes.

You have to ask yourself, what are they hiding if they will not pass this bill?

Thank You!

Thanks for your interest in the important issues facing Maryland today. Please be sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter for the most up to date information.

God bless you and your family!

FAIL: John Cox at Craven, Cowardly CPAC, Too?

John Cox sent out a massive eblast broadside about his attendance at the latest CPAC Conference.

That's not good.

CPAC shut out MassResistance because of their "rhetoric". Give me a break.

Then they told Pamela Geller that she could not have Jim Hoft speak at her First Amendment panel.

Geller cancelled the panel and went home.

Cliff Kincaid's press credentials were revoked, too, because he exposed the anti-liberty LGBT Agenda infiltration CPAC.

But John Cox is celebrating his appearance there?!

Not good. Not good. "Next Governor"? I don't think so ...

The Next California Governor Does CPAC

Arthur,
I have been going to CPAC for decades, but attending this year as the leading GOP candidate for CA Governor, this had to be my favorite. It was inspiring to see President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence speak and light up the room with optimism and stories articulating their many successes so far. Just as the President is making America great again, it's time you and I make California great again. Let’s unite and do this!

Final Reflection

I am not impressed with John Cox' appearance at CPAC. I will never go there, because they claim to be a conservative group, but they undermine the very values they claim to support.

John Cox is part of this, too?

No thanks.

I am voting for Travis Allen for Governor!
