Virginia Latino for Trump Under Fire for ... Freedom of Speech?!

Fredy Burgos is an outspoken American conservative nationalist. He currently lives in Virginia, and he's a high-powered member of the state GOP Central Committee.

He is not afraid to share his strong views on issues.

He is very, very big on Borders, Language, and Culture.

I first learned about him when he was a featured guest at the White House in October 2017 celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.

He is an outspoken Trump supporter, and like many conservative activists in the state, he is getting behind Corey Stewart for US Senate against Tim Kaine.

But ...

He has enemies in Fairfax County, VA, where he currently lives. Fairfax County is the most populous county in the Commonwealth. Republicans have to pick up as much support as possible this county to achieve statewide. Elections have been lost because the GOP turnout is so low there, and that section is getting bluer by the month.

Bureaucrats, recently arrivals, a large--and largely unassimilated--population of immigrants, legal and illegal--and getting dumped into this section of this state. The Democratic agenda of pushing more votes into the country from the Third World Countries has been quite effective turning Virginia blue, the same program which ruined California.

This is a particularly disturbing outcome, because Virginia is the mother of Presidents, as well as the Cradle of our Republic. The last thing that I want to see is Virginia turning into another third-world dump. I stayed in the Springfield area when I was there. The traffic has gone from bad to worse in Virginia. Almost every customer service rep could not speak English well. Some of the workers had just arrived in the country!

Immigrants are welcome, but we have a responsibility and a decent expectation as American citizens that we put the needs, the country, and the character of our great country first. Immigration must benefit us, not just those coming here.

Fredy Burgos does not shy away from these fights. It may not be politically correct to the party establishment, who are fresh off another massive defeat statewide. It went from bad to worse, not only because the Republican gubernatorial candidate failed by ten points, a worse margin than 2013, but also because the Republicans almost lost the state legislature.

What's worse, Republicans in these purple-bluish states don't learn their lesson and focus on bread-and-butter issues, nor do they recognize the importance of borders, language, and culture. They start trending toward the middle or the center-life in hopes that they can scoop up liberal voters.

That approach has not worked in California, and it will fail in Virginia, too.

Burgos is standing behind a strong Fairfax County Chairman candidate Tim Hannigan to revitalize the most populous county in the state and help make the VAGOP Great Again. The race is tight, and party bosses more interested in playing nice want to stop this candidate.

So, the took the following Facebook post below and blew it way out of proportion:

I submit that this post is inartful for my taste. The emphasis must be on Judeo-Christian leaders, men and women who embrace the basic Christian values. But would I want to see a religious test imposed on men and women seeking higher office, especially that of President of the United States?

It all boils down to whether their values are commensurate with our Judeo-Christian ethic, in which men and women believe what they want as long as they do not pick our pocket nor break our bones. Thomas Jefferson issued that informed statement about the rule of civic religion in our political culture.

By the way, there is no wall of separation between church and state mentioned in the United States Constitution, so I do not oppose in any way a recognition of Divine Providence in our blessed country.

So, that State GOP Establishment went to unsound extremes about this post.

Burgos is under fire for comments which seem bigoted. Well, whatever happened to freedom of speech? Political correctness is not going to solve the problems facing the state of Virginia. No way. The issue of religious, cultural sentiment, and political values are racing to the forefront like never before, too. The growing Islamic element in the United States should alarm American citizens.

Islam is a political ideology more than it is a religion. Islam is not a peaceful sect by any means, if anyone bothers to give a cursory or in depth review of the main religious text in this cult. We need more political leaders to speak out on Islam!

For several years, Fredy Burgos has been a controversial but tolerated figure within Virginia’s Republican Party — a verbal bomb thrower whose attacks against Muslims, immigrants and others have turned off moderates while reflecting a new brand of conservatism in the era of Donald Trump.

 "Controverial but tolerated ..." Let's remember that we are dealing with the Washington Post, here; the same rag in which the editors and writers do not hide their unabashedly liberal bias and relentlessly attack the President.

This is the same newspaper which published a bunch of salacious, unsubstantiated stories about Judge Roy Moore, all of which came to nothing shortly after his election loss last December.

But in the wake of a wave of Democratic victories last fall that was fueled by anti-Trump sentiment in Northern Virginia, party leaders — worried about losing more voters — moved to force Burgos off of the state central committee this week after he posted a Facebook comment suggesting Jews should not run for political office.

“There’s only so many times that somebody can be given forgiveness for making offensive statements,” said John Whitbeck, chair of the state party, who, along with Rep. Barbara Comstock and a chorus of other Virginia Republicans, called on Sunday for Burgos to immediately resign.

Barbara Comstock is considered a very liberal Republican by many standards, and certainly not an elected official who stands out in remarkable ways. 

“It makes it much harder for us to convince voters that we’re the party of tolerance and respect for all religions and religious freedom when our own people in our leadership are saying that,” said Whitbeck, who in 2013 faced his own controversy over an anti-Semitic joke.

Saying what exactly? I ask this question in connection with both.

Burgos, who also holds an elected position on the Fairfax County party committee, says his comments were misconstrued. He responded to a question for comment by sharing another Facebook post, where he wrote: “As an evangelical Christian, nobody loves the Jewish people and Israel more than I.” 

The original post borrowed from Trump, using the headline “Make Fairfax Great Again.”

Below that, Burgos shared a 19th-century quote from John Jay, the country’s first chief justice of the Supreme Court, asserting that it is the privilege of a Christian nation “to select and prefer Christian rulers.”

OK. I can see how the preferential comments might rub people the wrong way.

But does that make him anti-Semitic? I don't see how anyone could construe his remarks in that fashion.

The comment came as Burgos was campaigning for Tim Hannigan, who is running to become the next chairman of the Fairfax County Republican Committee. Hannigan’s rival in next month’s election is Mike Ginsberg, who is Jewish.

Ginsberg declined to discuss Burgos.

Hannigan, whose campaign website sells red “Make Fairfax Great Again” trucker hats,  said he removed Burgos as a campaign adviser after learning about the post. But he cautioned against a rush to judgment that would lead to booting a fellow conservative out of the party.

Hannigan took steps to isolate himself from Burgos' remarks. There is nothing wrong with a campaign taking those steps to remove potential distractions. At this point, it's all about winning that chairmanship and ensuring a robust, conservative movement in Northern Virginia.

The state party is working on removing him as we speak:

Burgos hasn’t said whether he will voluntarily step down, but the process for forcibly removing him — involving a petition and a two-thirds vote of committee members — is already under way, Whitbeck said.

For the next party central committee meeting in March, “I have multiple people who’ve indicated that they’re going to start collecting the signatures needed to put this on the agenda,” he said.

Not sure how this is going to turn out. Would I have posted what Burgos had posted? Not really. I don't have a problem voting for someone who is Jewish, and I do not have a deliberate or prima facie preference for Christians in elected office. What matters is what the leadership does to ensure a free community. They must, must share a commitment to the values of our Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Those factors determine whom I vote for.

I have reached out to another Virginia Republican Party member as well as the Washington Post reporter who called Burgos' post "Anti-Semitic".

I contacted the Virginia Republican Party and told them that the steps that they are taking are all wrong. The staffer then directed me to the communications director.

I shared my concerns, that the decision of party members to have Burgos removed for a post is not acceptable. The Communications Director, John March, did not comment further, and did not have any information on who signed off on the petition to have Burgos removed by vote.

Letter to the Editor: Virginia Resident Sounds of on Election Results

Ed Gillespie has only himself and the VA GOP establishment to blame for his defeat. I knew that he and the entire GOP ticket were going down in flames, so I don't feel guilty for voting Libertarian despite all the crap I got from Gillespie supporters including yourself. At least the GOP swamp creatures in Richmond have gotten a nice kick in the balls since they lost over a dozen seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, and the Democrats may very well take control of that chamber because there will be recounts in several close races. However, the GOP still controls the State Senate, so they better not screw that up too!

I'm glad we had a Libertarian candidate on the ballot, or else the major party candidates would not be talking about reforming our criminal justice system and ending the failed war on drugs. It's a shame that Ed Gillespie and Ralph Northam were united in refusing to debate their Libertarian opponent! 

On the bright side, us Virginians may finally get a fair and non-partisan redistricting of our state legislative districts. (no thanks to the VA GOP and their gerrymandering)

Virginia and New Jersey: Wake-Up Call for the MAGA Agenda

When Mitt Romney lost in 2012—yes, he was a viable and tolerable contender for me, since he had announced “self-deport!” to illegal aliens and promised to repeal Obamacare—I cried. I hugged my Dad, I was so distraught. I was convinced that Obama’s litany of failures and scandals would have spelled his doom. Unfortunately, working and middle-income Americans were turned off to what they perceived as a tuned-out elitist.

I felt a similar sorrow after the Virginia and New Jersey elections results, especially Virginia. I really thought Gillespie would pull it off. Unlike some Establishment types, he seemed to have learned his lesson, embraced the core Trump issues—immigration, public safety, American pride. He had done well in 2014, nearly clinching the US Senate race against Mark Warner in an epic GOP wave year.

What happened this time? Unlike Democratic holdovers and progressive pundits, I want to learn from the mistakes and the setbacks of failing elections, outreach, messaging, and attention to core issues to do better. No one can expect to Make America Great Again if we don’t understand why the voters do not turn out to make that dream a reality.

Ann Coulter had her healthy, witty spin on this Deep Water Democratic tide: The leftists win the war of ideas through demographic change: immigrants and re-enfranchised felons. More takers, fewer makers, and voila! You have A Democratic tyranny in the once-stable constitutional Republic. That pretty much describes what is happening in Virginia, and what has been happening by and large in New Jersey for a long time.

Let me dispense with my own ruminations on New Jersey first. Governor Chris Christie outlined what was probably going to happen. For the last eight years, Trenton had been saying “No! No! No!” to every major special interest in the state. People want more services; they want more goodies from the government. The takers had indeed taken over in key urban regions, and they are swinging elections like never before. Kim Guadagno was dragged down by Christie’s bad numbers, too.

For me, the saddest, strangest part about New Jersey is that Hillary Clinton with man parts won this seat: Phil Murphy, the big money financier from Goldman Sachs who promised to pamper the public sector unions. He also ran on a platform of turning New Jersey into a sanctuary state for illegal aliens, even after sensational illegal alien crimes had occurred one week prior. Defiance of federal law is destructive social justice warrior virtue-signaling at its worst. And yet, New Jersey voters gave up security for freebies. Their property taxes will skyrocket, and then they will watch what happens when Trenton powerbrokers run out of other people’s money (hint, hint: Detroit 2013).

OK, Guadagno was a long-shot, I know, but still: when your next chief executive says he will protect illegal from deportation, the same illegals who murder and rape your fellow citizens, one would think that voters would decide to go with “the other candidate.” Didn’t happen.

Now, on to Virginia.

I connected with Virginia activist and Central Committee member Fredy Burgos. He announced to me what other conservatives had shared: they were more anti-Northam than pro-Gillespie. Why? Gillespie was too much of the Swamp, the Establishment which has enraged Republican voters for decades. To make matters worse, Gillespie had turned up the Trumped-up rhetoric, but wanted to do it without Trump. One source share with me that a false poll had circulated weeks before the June primary showing pro-Trump Corey Stewart losing by 19 points to Gillespie. On primary day, Gillespie was only 1% ahead. WHAT?!

Sure, Gillespie started talking MAGA, but he didn’t wear it like a fine, fitting suit. Trump tweeted for him. Bannon stumped for him, but Gillespie campaigned with … George W. Bush. There’s the nail in the coffin. I reached out to two other sources on this Virginia fallout for their take. Robin Hvidston of We the People Rising and California Director for the Remembrance Project commented: “Both New Jersey and Virginia are blue states and were expected to elect Democrat candidates … one reason Ed Gillespie lost was because he distanced himself from President Donald Trump and his push to Make America Great Again.”

Willies Lee, the newly elected President of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, himself a native-born Virginian who witnessed the stark pro-Democratic demographic reshuffling in the Alexandria region, commented: “Our loss in Virginia demonstrates the need for our conservative Republican Assembly to be involved in those states, especially in the down-ticket races. Voters need the stark contrast of a conservative versus their far-left progressive candidates.” I never thought of Gillespie as a RINO, but voters sure did (just like Romney). Their opinions matter, not mine, and the rural ruby red sections of the state did not turn out in larger numbers for Gillespie. In many cases they skipped the top of the ticket, but voted for the rest of the slate! 

Final thoughts: These losses are not a repudiation of Trump’s agenda, but a reminder that if Republicans don’t deliver, they will get scuttled. Democrats are galvanized to stop Trump, and they are doubling down since their once-reliable institutions—national sports, the mainstream media, and academia—are failing.

Republican voters—especially millions of newly registered Republicans in the Rust Belt—are not just voting for the “R”. They want the real, red-meat reforms that leave more money in their pockets, place their interests first, and drain the greedy, grimy Swamp which has drained their life and individual sovereignty. Republican voters are not going to hold their noses for so-so RINOs, and Independents who want a better America will vote for “the other guy” just to spite our guys when they don’t deliver, even males with active gender dysphoria who promise to fix the traffic problems in your district.

The Virginia Blue wave is a potential precursor for Democratic gains next year. Republicans need to get with Trump’s agenda or lose big time in 2018.

New Jersey and Virginia: Citizen Sanctuaries or Sanctuary States?

The biggest elections of 2017 will be this Tuesday (November 7^th, 2017) for the New Jersey and Virginia governorships. The stakes are high, just as they were telling victories for Republicans in 2009. That year, two Democrats were serving (?) as chief executive in both states, and with Obama’s win the year before, those elections served as a referendum on the success or the reception of the newly-elected President.

Republicans ended winning both offices. Bobby McDonnell rejected Obama’s agenda. He left office under a cloud of scandal, although later exonerated. Chris Christie shocked pundits in 2009—and in 2013 with re-election by double-digits, scooping up the endorsements from local and county officeholders throughout New Jersey.

The issues facing the two commonwealths today—and which serve as a referendum on President Trump—have changed considerably. In 2009, the dismal economy weighed on everyone. The accelerating expansion of government and the corruption accompanying it worried voters.. Obama was already pushing shovel-ready fraud and launched his government take-over of the economy called Obamacare. Because of Obama’s relentless overreach, Republicans snatched up the first of many governorships, building a strong bulwark of conservative state sovereignty against the Obama-nation.

Following  Obama’s destructive, anti-American policies, Trump’s victories and agenda have pushed a new set of political concerns to the forefront. While the economy is roaring at a steady 3% GDP (likely to hit 5-6% with effective tax reform), the economies in Virginia and definitely New Jersey could use a boost. Virginia’s GOP candidate Ed Gillespie has promised a higher threshold before taxing incomes. He has also pledged to cut spending and regulations for Virginia businesses to flourish again. In New Jersey, property taxes are eating out the middle class. Despite Christie’s 2% cap, property owners are still hurting. If Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno can’t pull off a win, Goldman Sachs-owned Democratic Governor Phil Murphy will send the rates skyrocketing. If that happens, expect more homeowners to pull up stakes and flee to Florida.

The other issue weighing on voters’ minds is public safety, especially illegal immigration. Overwhelmed public services, housing, and roads have awakened outrage in Virginia. MS-13 is killing off children in the Old Dominion. New Jersey’s urban core has attracted rampant criminality for decades, and illegal immigration has only made it worse. Virginia’s Republican contender, Ed Gillespie, has improved his chances in the last month. His competition, Democratic Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam, was running hard left with the national party. He voted against banning sanctuary cities at in the state legislator. He talked about taking down all the Confederate statues. He wants free college for everyone, and like most Democrats, he loves playing the race card.

Fortunately for the Commonwealth and the MAGA agenda, the illegal immigration issue has harnessed the power of the grassroots, at one time non-committal at best about proto-Establishment Gillespie. The Republican candidate’s strong pledges for public safety and economic prosperity have galvanized voters. What about New Jersey? The Republican contender has a pedigree of her own. Her biggest liability is former boss Chris Christie and his dismal approval ratings: worse than President Trump! Guadagno also turned off the Trump Administration, and don’t expect Steve Bannon to rush in last-minute to boost her chances.

Nevertheless, like Gillespie, Guadagno is surging in the polls. Why? Illegal immigration. The crime rates are terrible in New Jersey. Rival gangs and violent illegal aliens have committed heinous crimes in the last year alone. ICE just rounded up 36 criminal illegals in Middlesex County, and consistently the crime reports identify illegals time and again. Blind to the stark problems in the Garden State, Democratic candidate Phil Murphy has openly declared that if elected, he will turn New Jersey into a sanctuary state.

This horrific proposal has worked in Guadagno’s favor, allowing her to showcase her track record on public safety and law enforcement. A former federal prosecutor and county sheriff, she collaborated with ICE, diligently placing citizens’ safety ahead of political correctness. A staunch supporter of the Second Amendment (with an “A” rating from the NRA), Guadagno’s bonafides are helping close the polling deficit with her opponent.

On a national level. these two races stand out because they represent the national fight between Left and Right. Republicans are returning to their populist roots, focusing on the rule of law, and restoring the nation to the control of law-abiding citizens whose elected officials promote the general welfare of taxpayers. The Democratic Party has turned into progressives on steroids. Obsessed with identity politics and race, while pandering to the political connected 1%, they have disdained the needs of the working man while coddling welfare recipients and illegal aliens.

Virginia voters are likely to make the right choice November 7. Breitbart CEO Steve Bannon just endorsed Gillespie, all but assuring a stronger-than-expected conservative turnout. Democrat Ralph Northam has flip-flopped on the sanctuary city issue, alienating his Democratic base, discouraging volunteers, and earning the distrust of prospective voters. Virginia residents want their citizen sanctuary back, and Gillespie will deliver.

As for New Jersey, does Guadagno have a better chance than a poor Atlantic City casino? The biggest factor is the Trump voters, disaffected with the Lieutenant Governor and learning toward a third-party conservative. If they wake up and switch to Guadagno, she stands a better chance of winning. Anything can happen. Despite the dour options in New Jersey, a GOP win in Virginia will ensure a smooth expansion of the MAGA Agenda across the country and further dash prospect Democratic hopes across the country. It would be nice for another Republican win in blue-state New Jersey. If nothing else, a Guadagno victory will stop another sanctuary state and send a clear message to the flailing national Democratic opposition that such dangerous virtue-signaling that masquerades as law-making is a big loser politically.

Gillespie Campaign: Virginia a Key Victory for State and Country

Ralph Northam is trying to sweep the horrible TV ad that portrayed Ed Gillespie and his supporters as dangerous racists under the rug. We are appalled. This is a new low for the left. Ed Gillespie is running for governor for all Virginians. He is running to create jobs, cut taxes, and to keep Virginia safe. But he is a threat to the National Democrats. Virginia is a key state for the 2018 and 2020 elections. If we can deny the Democrats a victory in Virginia, we will be well positioned for a wave election in our favor. It's Over for Northam: Bannon Backs Gillespie in Virginia Governor Race

Gillespie is in it to win it!

Poor Ralph Northam.

I don't think he realized the trouble he was facing the moment that Gillespie learned from Trump and listened to the concerns of grassroots Virginians. They want safe cities, prosperous communities, and a bright future for their children.

Terry McAuliffe ruined all of this, putting the well-being of the Democratic Party ahead of Virginia residents.

Northam is now desperate to pick up any momentum which he had lost. Gillespie's strong stances on illegal immigration are helping his campaign immensely. How could they not? This issue has been troubling Virginia residents for the past four to eight years. It's the biggest reason why Eric Cantor, then majority leader, got knocked out in the 2014 primary, even though he had outspent his primary opponent David Brat 10-to-1!

And now Steve Bannon has stepped into the fray, and he is supporting Gillespie.

The Northam campaign thinks that they can smear Gillespie and Trump with Bannon to scare voters.

His position on the far-right was solidified by endorsements from Trump, the NRA, the Koch brothers, and now Bannon. Gillespie is not only moving to the right, he is hitting the campaign trail on the right issues. Virginians want safety, security, and their quality of life restored. The MS-13 gangs are ravaging the state! And if Gillespie can count on Trump and Bannon’s far-right base of voters, and make sure they show up to the polls on Tuesday, we have to fight even harder. The same "deplorables" argument has emerged. Northam needs a high turnout, he thinks. The truth is, Virginia voters are probably sickened by his racist ads, which have totally backfired on him. Final Reflection Gillespie is in this race to win it. This will turn into another black eye for the DNC, since Virginia is a key swing state, even though Obama won the state twice, and Crooked Hillary won it in 2016. With the reduction of the Deep State, plus the stern enforcement of immigration laws and curbing of government subsidy and largesse, we can expect Virginia to thrive again, grow strong again, and work for the bests interests of all Commonwealth residents.
