People Are Leaving Colorado. Why?

I found this article while reviewing Google Alert articles for the day earlier this week.

There is a growing number of residents leaving the Colorful State and going elsewhere. California is enduring a large net migration, as are other major blue states. At this time, Colorado is barely a mixed-rule state, where the Republicans still hold a slim majority in the state senate. The current governor, John Hickenlooper, will be leaving office because of term limits. There may be a chance, however slight, that a Republican can regain the governor's mansion.

Here are the statistics on immigration and emigration for Colorado:

New annual figures from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey show that 193,000 Coloradans moved away last year, 10,000 more than in 2015, while 223,000 moved here, down about 4,000 from the year before but still well above recent years.

“We are seeing that there has been an increase in outs — the highest on record,” said state demographer Elizabeth Garner.

Colorado may be turning into another form California, and thus another Virginia, in which big government policies have turned a reddish state into a purple battlefield, and now a reliably blue one. Obama won this state twice, and Hillary Clinton won Colorado, too. I fear this is what is really happening in Colorado, a state overrun with illegals, welfare queens, pot heads, and big government bureaucrats looking for easy money and abject liberalism.

Despite the fact that a Republican captured the US Senate seat against Mark Udall in 2014, the state is trending blue. Democrats worked this state over pushing big money, left-wing donors, and concentrated interest groups. And now they have pandered to illegal aliens, allowing them to drive and thrive in the state despite federal sanctuary. Denver, Colorado is an obsequious sanctuary city, too.

As recently as 2013, Californians fleeing the high taxes and regulatory burdens of their home state were flocking to Colorado and turning that state bluer. Unfortunate but true. The California political mentality is creating more problems for other states, too, like Nevada, where the number of native-born Nevadans are outnumbered by out-of-state transplants. They want a decent fiscal and tax policy, but their decidedly liberal on cultural issues like abortion, homosexuality, and gun ownership.

Sad but true, and native Coloradans, the conservative enclaves in and around the state, are getting tired of it. The divide among Republicans on this issue has made their efforts at statewide winning more difficult, too, no doubt, especially when in 2014 the two gubernatorial challengers  split the vote and Hickenlooper won a second victory.

What are listed reasons for the migration out of Colorado.

1. High traffic

Denver has much more traffic now. Illegal immigration, folks. This state passed legislation to allow illegal aliens to obtain driver's licenses. This ugly policy faced immense pushback in in California in 2002, and it later resulted in Governor Gray Davis' recall. Now, the licenses have returned, and the opposition is gone, since most Californians have simply fled the state.

2. Low-paying jobs.

Where has all the industry gone? The pot wars gave the state a black eye, perhaps. Wasn't marijuana supposed to bring in a revived, thriving market for the state?

3. High and rising rents.

These are three issues plaguing Californians, by the way.

Democratic dominance is turning once beautiful and inhabitable states into unwelcoming urban areas where rural and suburban homeowners and dwellers no longer feel welcome. At one point, ten of the conservative, more rural counties wanted to secede from Colorado and form their own states.

The same movement is taking hold in Northern Colorado, which is extensively rural and very conservative. The quality of life is in steep decline in urban areas, and yet those sections of the state have the most political power.

The Denver Channel reports that Coloradans are migrating to the following states:

  • Washington: 8,525
  • Arkansas: 2,651
  • Nebraska: 2,507
  • Idaho: 1,507
  • Montana: 1,187
  • Kentucky: 985
  • Minnesota: 966
  • Wisconsin: 886
  • Texas: 871
  • Massachusetts: 850
Most of the states are GOP trifectas. Montana is a red state with a blue governor, but he governs like a Republican for the most part. Minnesota will probably become a GOP trifecta next year. Massachusetts has a fiscally conservative governor.

Colorado has become less inhabitable because of Democrats. They opened up the floodgates to liberal elites who pursue progressive fantasies, but ignore the needs of average Americans, including American workers. They embraced illegal aliens and feel-good policies, which are harming individual liberties. Native residents and working people want to be left alone to live their lives as they please. Progressives don't like that, and their policies are driving more people away.

A Little Late to the Game: RNC Says Colorado US Senate Race "Winnable"

Darryl Glenn was not the Mitch McConnell establishment pick.

SO what?

He became the Republican nominee for US Senate to challenge Michael Bennett.

That guy voted for the Iran Deal!

He also supports illegal aliens instead of American citizens and he will walk in lock-step to support Obamacare rather than repeal and replace it.

We need another Republican US Senator from Colorado.

Darryl Glenn is the man for the job.

ANd yet, the RNC didn't give Colorado another glance.

Why?

Where were they?

Then, out of the blue (or red?) the RNC announces that they are going to make an offensive in Colorado.

A little late to the game, don't you think?

The Senate Conservatives Fund, headed by former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinnelli, reported the following:

RNC Says Colorado Senate Race Now "On The Map"

Fellow Conservative:

Sean Spicer, the RNC's Chief Strategist & Communications Director, acknowledged earlier today that retired Air Force Lt. Col. Darryl Glenn (R-CO) could win the U.S. Senate race in Colorado.

No kidding! With a little help from the NRSC, perhaps ...

Spicer said, "the Colorado senate race came out of nowhere and is suddenly on the map."

The race may have come out of nowhere to the RNC because Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) foolishly abandoned the race after the primary, but the race has always been winnable.

ALWAYS!

This admission by the RNC is yet further evidence that the race has tightened in the past two weeks and is now winnable if Republicans turn out.

Please contact anyone you know in Colorado right now and urge them to vote for Darryl Glenn for U.S. Senate.

Sounds like a plan

This race could be very close so every vote counts.

Don't let Senator McConnell give the Democrats this Senate seat just because Darryl Glenn won't pledge his blind allegiance to McConnell.

Every elected official needs to pledge allegiance to the flag of this country and our republic.

He needs to do what is right for the voters, for the country, and not just a coterie of K Street interests.

Fight back by contacting everyone you know in Colorado and urging them to vote for Darryl Glenn.

Also, make a last-minute contribution to help pay for our final get out the vote (GOTV) phone calls to low propensity Republican voters.

Darryl Glenn is a game-changing candidate who will fight for conservative principles and bring new energy and diversity to the Republican Party.

A young, black conservative who was an early Trump supporter--why haven't more people supported him?!

Thank you for doing so much to support this outstanding candidate.

While the GOP establishment has done nothing to help him, you have been there every step of the way and never gave up.

Now, please help us finish out this race!

Sincerely,
Ken Cuccinelli II
President

Final Reflection

Where were they indeed?

This temerity among Republicans is destructive.

We need to be expanding the  map, not working hard on holding onto what we have.

It's time for Republicans to extend their policies and principles to all 50 states, and stop caving to the Big Government, Big Homo, Big Green, and every other illiberal special interest out to rob the rest of us!

I agree with Attorney General Cuccinnelli;

Tell anyone and everyone you can think of in Colorado: Vote for Darryl Glenn and Vote for Donald Trump!!

Trump Supporter Now Supports Cruz

Last night, another Californian contacted me all of a sudden.

He informed me that he was no longer going to support Donald Trump.

He is not supporting Ted Cruz for President!

I was surprised by this change of mind, since he was constantly telling me that I should vote for Donald Trump.

Here is the discussion which took place last night:

Former Trump, turned New Cruz Supporter:

Sorry man I endorsed Cruz.

Arthur Christopher Schaper
What?
You changed your mind

New Cruz Supporter:

I am supporting Ted Cruz.

Arthur Christopher Schaper

Why have you changed your mind

New Cruz Supporter:

Trumps Colorado tantrum kinda did it for me. And the Cruz folks are backing me for [office]

"Lyin' Ted" did not lie about Dr. Ben Carson or about Marco Rubio, nor is he stealing delegates.

Unlike the Donald, he simply took time to read up on the delegate rules in different states.

So much for Trump's Art of the Deal.

The Donald's unpresidential behavior is disconcerting. Instead of whining when you lose, you need to fight back--and fighter better--to win. What happens when a candidate who runs on his "Never Losing" streak starts losing?

His loser attitude will only ensure he loses more voters, delegates, and probably the nomination!

I was kinda swayed by Amash's endorsement too.

For the record, Congressman Justin Amash (R-Michigan) is a libertarian who has voted against his own party leadership as well as the liberal Democratic lunacy. He had initially endorsed Rand Paul.

Sarah Palin endorsing him led me to him initially.

I don't know why she did.

A lot of us were made to believe he is a conservative.

How are so many conservatives being led to believe that Donald Trump is a conservative?

I offered that this New Cruz supporter should read what I wrote about Donald Trump last year. Andrew Breitbart called out Donald Trump a few years before his untimely death: "He is not a conservative."

Who indeed is repsonsible for making Donald Trump seem like a conservative?

Who indeed?

For now, I am grateful that one more California conservative is no longer stumping for Trump, but choosing to cruise with Ted Cruz!
