Stop False Marriage Vote TODAY!

The Senate will convene TODAY at 5:30 p.m. ET on HR 8404, a measure that will impose same-sex marriage, and force states to honor and obey California’s insane pedophilic child bride laws, along with just about every other perversion of “marriage” you can imagine. Two weeks ago, 12 Republicans joined 50 Democrats to move HR 8404 forward on a thin promise that a religious accommodation amendment might be added to the bill. But that amendment is so weak that even the radical LGBTQ group “Human Rights Campaign” isn’t opposing it.The debate on amendments begins today, and this week the Senate needs another 60 votes to continue HR 8404. We CAN stop this bill. The senators MUST hear from you.Neither you, your business, your pastor nor your church will be safe from HR 8404 respecting the truth about God’s design for gender and marriage. The Senate will vote and must hear from you. Please, for the love of America’s children, fax the Senate NOW and tell them to VOTE NO on HR 8404! — Mat

Arthur,HR 8404 forces every state to honor and obey any definition of “marriage” that any state can dream up.First, HR 8404 will federalize same-sex marriage and establish a public policy that gender is irrelevant—and thus empower the transgender movement.Second, HR 8404 goes far beyond same-sex marriage because it empowers one state to set national marriage policy—including pedophilic “child bride” marriages, incestuous marriage and more.Third, even the bill’s co-sponsors admit a so-called “drafting error” opens the door for polygamy, but the Senate has not fixed the “drafting error.”Fourth, while a “religious freedom” amendment has been proposed, it is so weak that even Human Rights Campaign, a pro-trans child mutilation group supports the measure.

Don’t let the Senate destroy marriage and religious freedom!

Contact as many senators as you can and forward this email to as many people as possible. This week is critical to stop HR 8404.As I noted, even the co-sponsors of the bill acknowledge the problem HR 8404 opens regarding polygamy. Utah decriminalized polygamy. It is now merely the equivalent of a traffic fine. California already allows adults to marry a child of any age—even 10-year-old girls have been sexually abused and coerced into marrying grown men in their 50s. This bill will expand child bride abuse.Help us stop this bill NOW, before it is too late. Even if you have contacted Congress before, please remind them again today, just before they vote, that we the American people REJECT the perverse HR 8404!

Demand the Senate VOTE NO on HR 8404!

In addition to your faxes to the Senate, remember our Challenge Grant will DOUBLE THE IMAPCT of your gift. Join our winning team.

Save California: Call Five House GOP Members NOW to Change Vote on DIS-Respect for Marriage Act

Urgent California Alert: Please act right now

Call and email the 5 Republican California congressmen who voted for H.R. 8404 in July (before it was amended in the Senate). They need to receive a flood of opposition to the bill's religious oppression and sexual anarchy. Express your righteous anger now.

Tell them, "You didn't know what you were voting on with H.R. 8404. This tyrannical bill attacks the religious freedom of individuals, business owners, non-profit organizations, and even churches that don't recognize or accommodate marriages not between a man and a woman. What's more, by omitting the word "only," H.R. 8404 contains a loophole permitting a person to be in more than one two-person marriage at the same time, which is polygamy. Stand and speak against H.R. 8404 when it returns to the House floor!"

Call and email especially if you live in a foolish "Republican" congressman's district, voted for him, volunteered for him, or donated to him. Tell his office, "If he doesn't stand and speak against H.R. 8404 when it returns to the House floor, he's lost my support."

AFA Indiana: Call to Action for US Senator Todd Young to Change Vote on DIS-Respect for Marriage Act

 Urgent Alert:

Sen. Todd Young Gives Joe Biden a Big Win!

One week after Indiana Senator Todd Young (R) overwhelmingly won his bid for reelection, he immediately sided with President Joe Biden, Senators Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski, and the radical left to attack religious Hoosiers and faith-based institutions.

Senator Young was among a dozen liberal Republicans who voted for the unnecessary and misnamed, Respect for Marriage Act (RFMA).   The bill should be called the disrespect for marriage act because it does not respect the First Amendment freedoms that make America great.

This legislation is a reward to the LGBTQ activists who are trying to undermine traditional values and indoctrinate children in all aspects of our culture.   The Respect for Marriage Act codifies same-sex marriage even though the US Supreme Court ruled on this, years ago.  People are free to live as they choose, but this bill uses the power of the federal government to take sides in cultural and moral debates.  It could punish those who understand that men and women are uniquely different, and both offer important aspects to the family.  Whatever two men may be, they are not a mom and a dad.  Children do best with a married mother and father.

This bill is not about who can marry.  It is about who can peaceably live out their faith without fear of our government.

The Respect for Marriage Act is undeniably dangerous.  An amendment was added that admits this.  It pretends to protect the rights of conscience and religious freedom.  This was an admission of the problems this bill can cause, but it is little more than window dressing on bad policy.

Senator Young has ignored concerns from legal experts in this field such as Alliance Defending Freedom, the Liberty Counsel, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Coalition for Jewish Values, and numerous policy experts like the Heritage Foundation, the Family Research Council, the Ethics and Policy Center,  the Religious Freedom Institute, Focus on the Family and many more.
(I have over a dozen legal reviews and policy papers detailing the dangers of this bill and the inadequacies of the faux religious freedom section.  Links to items from the groups I've listed here are attached. Simply click on the organization's name in blue.)

Incidentally, Senator Young supported the Respect for Marriage Act even before the religious freedom section was added.  If you contacted his office when we began warning of this legislation months ago, his official response made this obvious.   He now claims that this amendment “fixed” the bill he supported when it was broken.

         It is still broken.

Here is just one example. As written, this legislation could remove the tax status of or punish a private school that holds to religious teachings as a condition of employment. (Remember those 87,000 new IRS agents?)   It could also allow a state or a judge looking at the RFMA to punish a religious charity for similar reasons.

The RFMA will pour gasoline on the fire of “woke-ism” and transgender indoctrination in schools that has so many Hoosier parents outraged.

As the Vice President of Domestic Policy for the Heritage Foundation warned: “This bill provides no benefit or protection that same-sex couples don’t already have. All this bill does is target people of faith who don’t support woke ideology.”

Senator Young made sure that millions of Hoosiers knew he was a Marine in his many campaign ads.   People assume that a Marine will fight for freedom and defend the constitution.  This is not what he is doing now with this legislation.  He is betraying hundreds of thousands of Hoosier voters who assumed that he would protect their rights of speech, association, conscience, and faith when they voted for him two weeks ago.

Call to Action:

The RFMA will be voted on again very soon.  Please contact Senator Young and ask him to defend freedom by voting against the RFMA.

Senator Mike Lee of Utah, who is a legal expert in his own right, has an amendment that does protect religious freedom and rights of conscience, but will Senator Young support it?    At the very least, if Senator Young is so adamant to side with the DC swamp again, he could support the Lee amendment.

1)    Call Senator Young’s office and ask him to change his support for this bill.

      317-226-6700  - Indianapolis

      812-542-4820 – New Albany

      202-224-5623  - Washington, DC

2)    Email Senator Young’s office too.

3)   Pray that Senator Young will have a change of heart on this unnecessary and dangerous legislation.  Pray that the 1st Amendment will be respected and the RFMA will fail.

Stop False Marriage! No on HR 8404

The midterm elections are in less than a week. Afterwards, no matter which party wins control of the next Congress, the current crop of US Senators will return to Washington DC for a lame duck session where they will take up HR 8404, the grossly misnamed Respect For Marriage Act. This legislation would impose same-sex ‘marriage’ on every state in the nation even if state voters have explicitly voted to define marriage solely as the union of one man and one woman.

Help NOM Stop HR 8404

But HR 8404 could do even more damage as it opens the door to forcing every state to accept polygamous marriages, men marrying child brides and every other perverse type of ‘marriage’ if judges or politicians in just one state legalize it there.

Shockingly, there is a strong possibility that Democrats could convince at least 10 Republican Senators to go along with HR 8404. We’ve got to stop them.

NOM has created this meme to help publicize just what is at stake in this battle:

FbTwEmailWebsite

There are two things I am asking you to do right now to help us defeat this terrible legislation:

  1. Save this meme to your computer or phone and use it in all your communications for the next several weeks – send it to friends, put it in your email signature line, post it on social media, etc.

  2. Make an immediate donation to NOM to help us raise awareness and galvanize Republican opposition to HR 8404.

We have precious little time left before the midterm elections to raise awareness about this dangerous, dastardly legislation. Please act today to help.

To save the HR 8404 meme, just right click on the image and then save it to your computer or phone just as you would any other picture or add 'use the buttons below the image to share it on social networks.

FbTwEmailWebsite

NOM is leading opposition to HR 8404 but we’re in a tough fight. Already a number of Republican Senators, including several who are retiring from Congress, have indicated they may vote for this legislation. It’s imperative that we turn up the grassroots heat on every Republican Senator in order prevail.

We need to raise additional money immediately. Please make a generous donation to NOM today.  Thanks to some supporters, every donation received will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to a total of $100,000.

NOM is doing everything in our power to defeat HR 8404, which really should be called the DisRespect For Marriage Act because it dismisses the views of over 50 million Americans who went to the polls in three dozen states to define marriage solely as the union of one man and one woman.

NOM has generated over 600,000 email messages to Senators from Americans demanding that they reject this terrible legislation, and our members have placed countless telephone calls to Senators' offices with the same message. With just days left until the midterm elections, we need to do even more.

Thank you for stepping up at this crucial time.

Family Research Council Sounds the Alarm on False Marriage, i.e. HR 8404

I am glad that the Family Research Council is speaking out boldly against HR 8404, the False Marriage legislation which the Democratic US Senate is trying to push onto the entire country.

Check out this extensive argument an analysis against this terrible legislation:

Stand for Biblical Truth in the Public Square

Dear Arthur,

Some congressional Republicans seem to be suddenly going soft on an issue that should be a political no-brainer: marriage.

The question is, will the GOP stand on truth or shrink under cultural pressure?

The Defense of Marriage Act, which recognized natural marriage in federal law, passed with overwhelmingly bipartisan support and was signed by President Bill Clinton in 1996. However, in July, 47 House Republicans joined their Democratic colleagues in voting for the so-called Respect for Marriage Act (H.R. 8404).

Far from respecting marriage, if passed by the Senate and signed into law, the bill would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and codify same-sex marriage into federal law. Further, it would take a steamroller to religious freedom on this topic!

Congressman Bob Good (R-Va.) sees the handwriting on the wall for House conservatives who are willing to compromise on core values. "I was very disappointed that any Republicans would vote for this bill," he lamented on Washington Watch, "and disappointed to see that 47 of my colleagues did."

A handful of Republican senators are openly in opposition to the bill. A few have indicated support, while a majority have remained noncommittal. Together, our voices can help bolster those who need it.

At Family Research Council, we stand unwaveringly for policies that protect natural marriage and the family. Your generous gift today ensures FRC has the resources to continue standing-- and helping these senators stand--in our nation's capital for faith, family, and freedom.

Will you stand with us in this critical hour?

DONATE NOW

If the Senate passes the so-called "Respect for Marriage Act," this decision will affect our freedoms today and those generations to come. There are several compelling reasons why senators should oppose the bill.

1. Rights of Children
Our nation's laws should be shaped by what is best for society as a whole and especially for children. Studies show it is in children's best interest to be raised in homes with a married mother and father. The law should never be manipulated--by the courts or by Congress--to sanction intentionally fatherless and motherless family structures, which is precisely what this bill would do.

2. Indoctrination of Children
This will only fuel the radical sexual ideology of the Left that has eclipsed the focus on educating our children in our public schools. The values of parents will be barred from the classroom as our children are indoctrinated into accepting the new "norm" in human sexuality.

3. Religious Freedom Repercussions
In Justice Samuel Alito's Obergefell dissent, he said the court's decision to endorse same-sex marriage would be used to "vilify Americans who are unwilling to assent to the new orthodoxy." In the seven years since Obergefell, dozens of wedding vendors, businesses, religious universities, adoption agencies, and churches have faced censure, threats, and lawsuits over their sincerely held beliefs on marriage and human sexuality. This legislation would clear the way for increased harassment by activists against people of faith.

4. States' Rights
Every state would be forced to recognize every other state's future definition of marriage, no matter what that definition included. This would run roughshod over the basic principles of federalism and push a "lowest common denominator" on all of the states.

5. The Bedrock of a Thriving Society
Apart from the shifting political winds these last seven years, nothing has changed. Natural marriage is still the bedrock of a thriving society. Conservatives believe that values, ideals, and institutions that lead to human flourishing should be preserved, including natural marriage.

Codifying same-sex marriage into federal law will open the door for more hostility toward Bible-believing Americans.

Grassroots Christian conservatives like you are already getting through even to the most vulnerable politicians. Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who originally said "I see no reason to oppose" the bill, now tells Axios, "I wouldn't vote for it because of all the issues raised about religious liberty."

During this critical moment, your generous support bolsters our mission to equip and encourage believers to stand for the truth of God's Word in their communities. Will you partner with us today?

DONATE NOW

When Republicans support this distortion of marriage, it's a slippery slope that will have lasting repercussions on our culture.

Congressman Good remarked, "It's just a continuation of the war on our foundational principles, our Judeo-Christian principles upon which our nation was founded--our respect for religious freedom, our respect for the importance of the family, and the importance of biblical principles."

Arthur, you can count on FRC to stand for truth in the public square no matter which way the cultural winds blow. We will always advocate for natural marriage, the protection of the unborn, parental rights, and domestic and international religious freedom.

Our faith and freedom will be tested. But we will not be moved.

Thank you in advance for your faithfulness.

DONATE NOW
P.S. - When you give a generous gift to FRC, you are not only advancing faith, family, and freedom in our culture, but you are equipping others to stand for biblical truth in their communities. Stand with us!

The Overton Window Drifts Left: Liberty Counsel Warns Against Polygamy and Pedophilia

 We warned you.

It would never stop with false marriage as a coupling of two people of the same sex. The moral and sexual anarchy which would ensue because of the radical redefinition of marriage is pushing all kinds of perversion and harm.

Sadly, instead of standing for truth right where the issues started, with the introduction and imposition of same-sex marriage, many conservatives are now fighting against the DIS-Respect for Marriage Act (H4 8404), by highlighting the possible normalization of polygamy and pedophilia:

Polygamy is more common in America than you might think. Congress is about to make it even more so, if Sen. Schumer (D-NY) gets his way and passes HR 8404, the so-called “Respect for Marriage Act.”On Wednesday during a press conference, Schumer said, "But let me be clear, a vote will happen.” He stressed again a vote will happen “on the Senate floor in the coming weeks … ”The U.S. Senate floor is open for votes next week. Schumer is fixated on passing HR 8404.On the same day, Sens. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Susan Collins (R-ME) said they are working to get more Republican votes and will propose an amendment to correct a “drafting error in one part of the bill” that Republicans fear will open the door to polygamy. This was no drafting error. In addition to same-sex marriage, HR 8404 forces every state to legally recognize the worst marriage laws of any other state—including laws that allow child bride, pedophile and incestuous “marriages.”Today, we will hear from some of the victims of polygamy. But first, please take a stand for these brave young women who escaped a lifetime of sexual servitude to decades-older men with apparently unbridled sexual appetites. Please help them by demanding Congress VOTE NO on HR 8404. — MatDefend marriage! Send your fax now demanding Congress Vote NO on HR 8404.

Arthur,There are an estimated 50,000-100,000 polygamous families in the U.S., and the popularity of polygamy is growing, thanks to a series of cable television shows that attempt to glorify the practice. But those cable TV shows rarely, if ever, reveal the abuse and desperation suffered by the young girls forced to marry into polygamous “families.”Allegations of sexual abuse, pedophilia and incest are rampant in polygamist families and the colonies they have formed in the U.S.There are four Republican votes for HR 8404. Six more are needed to overcome the filibuster. And about 16 Republican senators have not publicly stated their position on HR 8404. The senators MUST hear from you!

These young women need YOUR help! Tell Congress to VOTE NO on HR 8404!

"This is organized crime operating under the cover of religion," says 36-year-old Laura Chapman, who escaped a polygamist sect several years ago. Laura now helps other girls escape their polygamist marriages to pedophile husbands.Young girls are forced to marry as soon as possible, often to grown men already related to them. Once married, the girls are trapped.Mary Ann Kingston was one of those girls. Her father had forced her to marry her uncle, who promptly raped Mary Ann in her mother’s own house. Mary Ann was her uncle’s 15th wife.Mary Ann tried to flee, but she was quickly caught in the tiny insular community. Her father brought her out to the barn and horsewhipped her for her attempted escape.Mary Ann was promptly moved into a tiny apartment next to her uncle’s other wives so they could keep her in check. But somewhere deep down, she knew what was happening to her was very, very wrong. After one particularly bad beating, Mary Ann fled on foot, with only the clothes on her back. Beaten and bloody, she called 911 from a truck stop a few miles from her prison.Thank God, Mary Ann was rescued. But far too many young girls are not, and many more will be trapped in polygamy and child-bride “marriages,” unable to escape the pedophiles to whom they have been contracted. If the so-called “Respect for Marriage Act” becomes law, it has a loophole that will open the door to legalize polygamy. This bill will further trap people like Mary Ann under even greater bondage!I need your help to hold senators accountable and stop HR 8404. Rush urgent faxes to the Senate to STOP HR 8404.

The bill applies to “marriage between 2 individuals.” The number should at least be written out as “two” or in more formal legislation as both, “two (2).” And the word “only” is not in the text—“only between” two people. The bill clearly overrides state marriage laws, including age limits, by allowing one state to set marriage law for the nation. Under HR 8404, a man can deceptively marry women in more than one state, and then use the bill to require one state to recognize the other marriage, and thus override state and federal polygamy laws. Utah no longer criminalizes polygamy. The fine is now about equivalent to a traffic ticket. Some senators simply view this bill as codifying same-sex marriage, which is bad enough. However, HR 8404 has many far-reaching implications, including pedophile marriage, same-sex, child-bride, incest, polygamy and any other perversion of marriage.Liberty Counsel is fighting for religious freedom every day in the halls of Congress as well as in state and federal courtrooms around the nation. This year alone, we have won all the cases we argued or briefed before the U.S. Supreme Court … and we aren’t done yet!Currently, Liberty Counsel is defending members of the U.S. military, as well as health care workers, employees and students against unlawful shot mandates. We continue to defend Christian counselors persecuted by politicians for daring to counsel people seeking to overcome unwanted same-sex attractions, behaviors or gender confusion. Our multi-year defense of Sandra Merritt, the brave whistleblower being prosecuted for exposing Planned Parenthood’s “baby parts for sale” scheme, continues, as does work on many other cases. And we are filing multiple briefs in the state courts defending life.We need YOUR help to continue this winning streak for the Lord! Please, prayerfully consider making a recurring monthly donation to fund this legal battle for religious freedom. Every donation made today will be DOUBLED IN IMPACT by a Challenge Grant. Please, give generously.

Pray for our children and fight for them!Mat StaverFounder and ChairmanLiberty Counsel

We see how the Overton Window on cultural issues continues to drift to the left among conservatives, among restorationist Republicans and constitutionalists who want to perserve not the status quo, but rather restore the natural definition of sex, marriage, and family.

We need to get back to the basics. We need to restore what has been lost, not merely manage the dessicated decline.

Yes, we need to stop polygamy and pedophilia, yes we need to stop the corruption of the marriage institution in full. That means that we need to state plainly that "same-sex marriage" is a falsehood and a contradition which must be stopped at all costs!
