Gene "Ignorance Equals Good Party Member" Ward) does NOT want you to know this.  But, the Hawaii GOP leadership is actively helping a 2020 Democrat congressional candidate. At a recent political rally in Hilo, Democrat state Sen. Kai Kahele announced he’s running for the 2nd Congressional District seat currently held by fellow Democrat, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard. Among the 200 well-wishers cheering him on were state GOP County Chairwoman Lorraine Shin, and Marlene Hapai, a former GOP state committee member and legislative candidate. “We strongly support Kai,” Hapai said. “It isn’t about the party. It’s always been about supporting the person.” Hmm, as Republican leaders, shouldn't you top officers be loyal to your brand and (especially) shouldn't you at least be loyal to your principles?? Apparently not!! Kai Kahele is so liberal that progressive group and websites like the Daily Kos have endorsed him over Tulsi Gabbard, WHY, because maybe he's a moderate? Nope. Here's their answer: “He’s a solid PROGRESSIVE who supports Medicare for all, a Green New Deal, and the Equality Act, which would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity . . . We have a fantastic opportunity to replace a truly lousy Democrat (Gabbard) with a far better one, so let’s seize it.” Wow, no mystery how liberal they and Kahele are. Not surprisingly, under Lorraine Shin and Marlene Hapai's leadership, the Republican Party didn’t even bother to field a candidate to run against Kahele for his current seat in the state legislature. Now, they're officially on his team while holding down GOP party posts. So, it’s no wonder that fake Republican Party leaders are tripping over themselves to help elect a Progressive Democrat. HIRA has been warning Republicans for years that liberals control the Hawaii GOP. Here’s more undeniable evidence.
