After failing to repeal the law they campaigned against for nearly a decade, Republicans may use the upcoming omnibus spending bill to bail out Obamacare with taxpayer-funded subsidies.
Republican leaders are working on a plan to provide roughly $30 billion in bailout money for health insurance companies.
If they succeed, Republicans will not only have failed to repeal Obamacare, they will have helped the Democrats expand it. Instead of repealing it "root and branch" like they promised, they will have watered and fertilized it!
Once Congress starts bailing out insurance companies, the bailouts will never end. Liberals in both parties will forever call for more money to "stabilize" the marketplace.

Bailing out Obamacare would be a major mistake.
Not only will it make it harder to repeal Obamacare, but we've already seen that these subsidies don't work in terms of lowering premiums. The only way to do that is to repeal the benefit regulations that have made coverage so expensive.
Also, this policy betrayal will depress Republican turnout in November, making it even easier for the Democrats to win key races.
We can stop this bailout, but we must take action now.
If Senate Republicans know that voters are watching and they will be held accountable for this betrayal, they will reverse course. But it's up to us to make sure they get the message.
