Republicans Win Big Across New Mexico

In every region of the state, Republicans contested and won important local offices and proved that commonsense conservative principles appeal to voters of all backgrounds.

New Mexico GOP Chairman Ryan Cangiolosi |
“These election results are a wake-up call to anyone who doubts that Republicans are ready and able to run winning campaigns across New Mexico,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Ryan Cangiolosi. “While the chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico is using his party’s time and resources to attempt to silence a victim of sexual harassment and rig county conventions for his preferred candidate, our hardworking candidates and volunteers were pounding the pavement and knocking doors to elect Republicans up and down the ballot. Republicans are united and will not be outworked in 2018 and our efforts are already paying dividends.

Javier Sanchez, Mayor of EspaƱola |
“Javier Sanchez will be EspaƱola’s first Republican mayor in decades. Rio Rancho mayor Gregg Hull won re-election after defeating a popular former two-term Democratic mayor. Roswell mayor, Dennis Kintigh also faced a strong challenge from a well-known former mayor and was also re-elected. Estancia elected a new mayor, Nathan Dial, while Dale Janway and Andy Nunez won re-election. Republicans won key races in the following counties – Santa Fe, Chaves, Lea, Otero, Rio Arriba, San Juan, Torrance and Sandoval.
“The Republican Party of New Mexico congratulates all of our candidates and we thank them for their tireless commitment to our communities and our state. We will carry this momentum forward and continue our hard work to elect Republicans across the state in November.”
