Perfect Love Casts out Everything Bad Part VI

"But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you." (Luke 11:20)

Perfect Love casts out demons, devils, and all wicked things that would plague the saints of God in the Old Testament.

We who believe on Jesus Christ have no reason to fear the devil.

Satan and His foes have been disarmed:

"And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

"Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

"And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it." (Colossians 2:13-15)

When Paul writes that Christ "spoiled principalities and powers," he means that Christ diarmed them -- they have no more power over us! Their chief weapon was the "handwriting of ordinances" that condemned us, the law which we could not keep in our own flesh, but whose curse Chirst expunged at the Cross!

Satan and his minions can only intimidate, but can do no harm:

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." (1 Peter 5:8)

When Peter advises us to vigilant, we are not to be on the look-out for attacks from a disarmed devil, so much as to keep our eyes on Him who saved and sanctifies us:

"[God] hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:6)

And

"Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." (Colossians 3:2)

Jesus has made it clear to all His believers: Satan is a defeated foe:

"Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out." (John 12:31)
