Miracles Abound: California City in Liberal Bastion Rejects Sanctuary State

While I attended a speaking engagement in Northern California—really Northern, as in Siskiyou County, the heart of the original resistance against Sacramento’s lawlessness—fellow Southern California patriots were continuing their fight against the SB 54, aka the infamous Sanctuary State law.

Jurisdictions throughout California have gone on record opposing the law, filing lawsuits or amicus curiae briefs with the Department of Justice, or outright overriding the law through resolutions and ordinances. Sadly, my home city of Torrance and the entire County of Los Angeles County have remained stalwart against the movement. The city of San Dimas (home of Bill and Ted—righteous!) discussed the issue, but the council majority chickened out and refused to do anything. The originator of the motion, Councilman Ryan Vienna, filed his own amicus brief notwithstanding the reticence of his colleagues.

What has held up Los Angeles County elected officials from taking action? LA County is turning into San Francisco South, including the rampant homelessness throughout Downtown Los Angeles. Yet at the same time, a rapid gentrification process is pushing out working and middle-income Angelenos. The rich are getting richer, and everyone else has gotten poorer or fled the state. The Protest Culture is alive and well in the city of Angels, since the heart of the Brown Supremacy, Open Borders, La Raza movement rests in Los Angeles County. Downtown LA has witnessed anti-Trump protests not just in the streets, but in the halls of power, city councils and the County Board of Supervisors.

It wasn’t like this before. At the turn of the 19^th to 20^th centuries, Republicans dominated the entire county, and Democrats didn’t field candidates. In the 1970s, Long Beach, CA enjoyed a roaring red resurgence up to the 2000’s. Conservative firebrand Robert “B-One Bob” Dornan was my Congressman when I was a baby. Is there hope for Los Angeles County? Yes, and it’s shining forth specifically Santa Clarita, CA. While I could not witness the latest victory, the enthusiasm from the audience, and the grudging necessity of the press to report this growing backlash to illegal immigration, was stunning, gratifying, and encouraging.

Santa Clarita is a relatively new municipality, established in 1987, although the region celebrates a rich history from its early Spanish land-grant days to the gold-mining craze which swept the state. Today, Santa Clarita is the fourth most populous city in the county, and it shows why more Californians flee the LA basin. Clean streets, beautiful neighborhoods, safety and prosperity, plus a hot yet still attainable housing market have made Santa Clarita an ideal destination for newlyweds and growing families. One activist who lives there told me that Santa Clarita truly represents what America is—not the rest of the county on the South side of the Antelope Valley.

Honestly, Santa Clarita feels more like the more conservative, well-governed Orange County, yet concerned citizens have wondered what it would take for the northern half of Los Angeles County to break away and form its own county. They signaled their first clear break Wednesday morning, when after six hours of testimony the city council voted unanimously to oppose SB 54, file their resolution with every lawmaker in Sacramento, and join the lawsuit against the state of California. 

Conservatives and the growing Trump contingent in the region prepared for at least two months to press this issue. Councilman, Robert Kellar introduced the motion in March, but no action followed. Citizens in the city and throughout the county repeatedly contacted the council to oppose SB 54. The local paper, as liberal as any other, released a survey to gauge public sentiment. Initially, the poll skewed toward opposition to any action. The local Indivisible group, left-wing activists doing everything in their power to turn Santa Clarita blue and remove Congressman Steve Knight (R-Palmdale).

Activists all over the region—and the country—filled in their own responses, and we won the on-line poll. Next, victorious conservatives from other counties connected with Santa Clarita residents and prepared to attend the Santa Clarita City Council meeting. The agenda item to oppose SB 54 came up on May 8^th. Sanctuary State opponents outnumbered the open borders activists 10-to-1 according to some reports. The frustration and hope were palpable in the room. Many of the citizens who spoke at the meeting are friends of mine, and they shared the same arguments which have swayed city councils and county boards across the state.

The city council’s closing remarks before the vote were the most moving. Councilman Bill Miranda castigated the open border partisans who had threatened his elected office, since this year is an election year. “This is not about getting elected. This about doing what is right.” He supported the motion, despite the opposition’s increasingly desperate efforts to smear his support because of his Latino ethnic background.

Councilman Cameron Smythe, who had served in the state assembly before, slammed the state legislature for their egregious overreach. He countered the tired arguments of the communist-sympathizing Left. “Sure, there’s no property crime in Cuba—because there’s nothing to steal. No one’s homeless, because the government tells you where to live.” The island dystopia stations towers along the coastline. They aren’t lifeguard towers, but rather military outposts designed to prevent Cubans from fleeing! That’s communism, and the final goal of the open borders agenda.

Mayor Laurene Weste and Councilman Kellar reminded the audience that illegals have murdered sheriff’s deputies in the region, including Santa Clarita native David March.  The council affirmed their love of country and constitution, then recognized the frustration of the audience with illegal immigration, rising crime, and California politicians’ generous embrace of lawlessness. With that, the Santa Clarita city council made history and voted to opt out of SB 54.

The rest of the country may say that California is a lost cause, but we the people of this Golden State have found a cause to rally around to make our state great again, and the movement is spreading, even into the most liberal enclaves in the state.

Los Angeles County is not a lost cause, and there are still strong, pro-American bastions in the county, despite the mass invasion of illegal aliens to the county and throughout the state. I've been to Santa Clarita before, and the region reminds me more of Orange County, where the streets are clean, residents are safe, and businesses are prosperous.

I understand that leaders in the Northern Los Angeles County region wanted to take whatever steps were possible to break away from the Downtown LA and form their own counties, too! They should step up their efforts to break away from the empire of Los Angeles.

Even in this county, which was once a wonderful red jewel of conservatism (B-One Bob Dornan served as the Congressman for the Westside and the South Bay sections of Los Angeles County), there is still hope.

Santa Clarita, CA has declared their opposition to SB 54 and filed an amicus brief against this wicked, unconstitutional law.

Santa Clarita City Council OKs support for SB 54 lawsuit (VIDEO)

Neighbors divided over how to treat strangers clashed outside and inside Santa Clarita City Hall for hours Tuesday.

Hundreds of Santa Clarita residents spoke at the City Council meeting until 1 a.m. supporting or opposing a federal lawsuit against California Senate Bill 54, the law that limits state and local law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

Ultimately, Santa Clarita City Council members voted unanimously to file an amicus brief against the state that would join them in the federal lawsuit by the Trump administration.

This is a massive win. Reports had trickled into me over the past month which suggested that the city council didn't want to touch the issue at all. They were rightly concerned about the massive overflow of Brown Supremacists and Open Border bigots who would invade the city council chambers.

In spite of these repeated, offensive efforts, the pro-American, pro-rule of law demonstrators showed up in big numbers and took over the city council chambers.

Councilman Bob Kellar expressed strong support for the brief, as did Mayor Pro Tem Marsha McLean and Mayor Laurene Weste.

“We’ve lost deputies in this valley,” Weste said. “Limiting law enforcement from agency to agency is a mistake.”

Ann Coulter and other pro-enforcement writers and activists have pointed out at length that these open border policies hurt working and middle class communities. "The rich" have no problem with open borders, amnesty, and cheap labor because the ill effects of mass immigration do not hurt them.

They hurt the rest of us, and our law enforcement.

Councilman Bill Miranda reminded citizens they could only represent so many of their interests.

“(We keep hearing), ‘there are three of you running for election and you better be careful,’” Miranda said. “Understand one thing: it’s not about elections. It’s about doing the right thing for the right reasons. If that means I don’t get elected, so be it.”

This was one of the most moving comments at the end of the meeting. I appreciate elected officials who push aside left-wing bullying and vote the "right" way--in both senses of the word.

Councilman Cameron Smyth, who had previously served in the California Assembly, said they had received 442 emails that opposed the state law and 63 that wanted to stand with S.B. 54.

This is the first time to my knowledge that an elected official announced not just the massive amount of correspondence to the city council, but evidenced to the public that the vast majority of residents and stake holders in the city and the county wanted the city of opt out of SB 54.

This is an incredible victory. Just incredible.

This is big news, but the local, liberal press will go out of their way to cover this up or ignore. MyNewsLA.com, for example, didn't bother reporting on this issue.

Santa Clarita opposes California's 'sanctuary' law, the first city inL.A. County to do so

At least the Los Angeles Times recognized--however grudgingly--that Santa Clarita broke the open borders grip on Los Angeles County.

So happy, but also very jealous!

Notice the veneer of contempt for the audience:

The council chamber was packed Tuesday night, with people standing in aisles and doorways and spilling out into an overflow room as approximately 200 had signed up to speak. Many wore red "Make America Great Again" caps. Some snacked on popcorn while others cooled themselves with fans.

People in the audience were eating popcorn. Really. That's an important detail in the story?

Wow, no wonder there is a decline in respect and support for the press.

Some said SB 54, which limits cooperation by local law enforcement with federal immigration authorities, would promote criminality, while others said it would make communities safer. Some cited legal explanations for why the law violates the Constitution, while others argued that California was within its rights.

"I don't understand. When these people have committed a crime … why can't one agency be able to call another agency?" Annette Burns said.

"California has overreached," Susan Agnes, a resident and mother of two, said.

One correction: MANY people have said that SB 54 not only limits contact among different law enforcement agencies, state and federal, but that the legislation protects criminals and endangers working, law-abiding citizens.

In March, Los Alamitos approved an ordinance claiming exemption from SB 54. That same month, Orange County signed on to the federal lawsuit against California over SB 54 and other laws protecting immigrants. Huntington Beach has also sued California in state court.

Santa Clarita City Councilman Bob Kellar initiated discussion on this issue in March.

"I feel very strongly that this whole thing of having a sanctuary state and sanctuary cities is ridiculous," he told the Santa Clarita Valley Signal at the time. "We are putting our American citizens at additional risk and there's no question about this — it's costing our state ungodly billions of dollars."

Mr. Kellar is a former police officer. He understands the stresses and dangers which law enforcement face on a daily basis. SB 54 has made their jobs so much harder. This is inexcusable. He was blunt, outspoken, and right on target. So happy that Kellar was there to speak the truth and demand justice and the rule of law for Santa Clarita residents, LA County and the entire state of California.

Santa Clarita's resolution also directs the city attorney to file a brief in support of the Trump administration's lawsuit against the state of California "if and when appropriate." (A hearing on the administration's request for a preliminary injunction is scheduled for June. The deadline for submitting briefs supporting the administration was April 6.)

This portion of the resolution is crucial to share with other cities and county boards. Just because the first lawsuit deadline has passed does not indicate that there will not be another chance--and there will be. Bet on it!

The LA Times article is worth referencing because they drag the politics of this move into the article, and try to turn this into a mere political stunt:

The measure is largely symbolic. Santa Clarita contracts with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department for law enforcement services and is bound by that department's policies, including on immigration.

Still, "symbolic politics is a part of politics," said Raphael Sonenshein, executive director of the Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs at Cal State Los Angeles.

In fact, words and principles are symbolic, too, and amicus briefs are effective and essential for ensuring that major issues are taken care of, that people stand up to these issues and demand that their government respect their rights and secure their persons.

The Times' go to left-wing pundit, Rafe Sonenshein, let's his liberal bias ooze out:

"This is an opportunity to mobilize the conservative base around the issue that most animates the conservative base, which is immigration," Sonenshein said. "It doesn't mean that the City Council has the power to change anything right now … but it elevates the issue and certainly Republicans see it as an issue that might bring people to the polls."

Illegal immigration animates everyone, not just Republicans. Blacks, whites, Hispanics, Republicans, Democrats are all fed up with open borders, mass migration, the erosion of our sovereignty, and the diminution of our rights as citizens. Once again, the corporate media are so tone-deaf. They just don't understand how harmed, how overwhelmed the public has become with illegal immigration, mass migration, sanctuary jurisdictions, etc.

Santa Clarita is the fourth-largest city in L.A. County, with a population of about 180,000. About 32% identify as Hispanic or Latino, according to 2016 census estimates.

Why does the Times focus on the Latino population? Are they readily assuming that all illegal aliens are Latino? That's racist!

Final Reflection

I wish that I could have been there to celebrate, but it's really heart-warming and encouraging to see so many patriots lining up, stepping up, and speaking out against SB 54 and for the rule of law. I was worried about Santa Clarita, but only because residents in the city and throughout the region were concerned that the city was not going to take a strong stance against the lawlessness and against the Open Border brown Supremacists who only care about identity politics and La Raza.

For now, all I can say is "Way to Go, Santa Clarita!"

The 405 Freeway Up in Flames!

I have to share this video with everyone who is reading and watching.

The fires devouring the Ventura and Santa Clarita highways and hills are racing toward the 405 Freeway.

The busiest freeway in the country has been closed.

The commute is down, the road is closed.

It's pretty terrifying what the fires look like.

This is insane.

I would have never believed that a fire of this magnitude would engulf key sections of Los Angeles County. The state of California is in complete ruins as it is, and now we have public safety officers and leaders who cannot assure our own safety!

This is insane. When does this corrupt malfeasance and incompetence end? California lawmakers were supposed to be raising money from bonds to store water to prepare for these unprecedented droughts, dry spells, and fires. We experienced an epic rainfall earlier this year, and yet there's no water to put out these fires.

No one is taking concentrated steps to irrigate the dry areas throughout the state of California. Isn't it stunning that the most liberal sections of California, the West Los Angeles area and the Bay Area, have endured some of the most devastating wildfires in the state's history? They have voted for and pushed for the anti-safety, anti-environmental laws, and now they are experiencing the direct consequences for these poor decisions.

Trump Supporter Condemns Lieu "Town Hall" in His District

                     

Greg Aprahamian of Santa Clarita spoke with local news outlets about the Lyin' Ted Lieu town hall.

He shared his frustration and outrage with his own Congressman, Steve Knight, who needs to host more town halls of his own--and not just telephone town halls.

What was a Congressman from the South Bay and the West LA region doing in Santa Clarita to begin with? He needs to go back to his home district and help his constituents there!

Pathetic and Undemocratic: Commie Rep. Judy Chu Hosts Town Hall in Another District?!

Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-Pasadena) is a well-connected communist. She acknowledged working with the Communist party in the past.

And apparently, her officials have not ended.

Trevor Louden reports:

Judy Chu led a CWP front, the Federation for Progress, in the 1980s, while beginning her ascent of the Democratic Party ladder. Now  it appears that Chu is still working closely with residual CWP networks.

A list of House reps exists online, too, outlining the 70 plus members of Congress who also identify as socialists. One has to wonder how they intend to uphold their oaths to support and defend the United States Constitution.

This is treasonous, subversive behavior. But for Judy Chu, it only gets worse.

She had me removed from one of her Claremont town halls in late April. While the event was hosted by the Indivisible Claremont SJWs/Snow Flakes. Check out the unconscionable action below:

But she's not just interested in resisting Donald Trump.

She wants to throw out colleagues of hers in the California Congressional delegation!

How arrogant can the Democrats get? There will be happy ending to this selfish, left-wing manuevering. The Democratic Party has decided to put most of their campaign eggs in the California basket. Do they really think that they can unseat Devin Nunes? Or Duncan Hunter?

Steve Knight won his district by 6 points, despite broadcast television adds attacking his pro-life views. Knight is wel-known and connected in his distict. For a carpet-bagging Congresswoman with communist ties to show up and rally hatre against the incumbent--that is just insane as well as insulting. 

And it gets worse. Chu was unanimously censured by the House Ethics Committee in 2014 for intervening into ethical probes within her office. Democrats and Republicans slammed the crooked Communist.

Not very progressive, I must say!

The Progressive 25 group pushing this town hall have reserved a room which will only seat 250 people! A local radio show, "The Triggering" reserved two spaces in the front for $100. Now they tolerant progressives have refunded the money and will not let them in!

Wow! How pathetic is that! Someone explain to me how this action is democracy in action?

Not only that, but the tiny cabal of leftists in the Antelope Valley region are going to line up FIVE HOURS in advance to ensure that they get the 250 seats. This is ridiculous! Republicans, conservatives, and Trump supporters in general work for a living, rather than vote for a living. Does anyone really expect working citizens to abandon their jobs and stand in line for 5 hours to attend a town hall? Why would the Congresswoman and her left-wing acolytes take every step to ensure that fewer people can attend?

Sure, Commie Chu will take questions from the audience, but only because the audience will be filled with like-minded regressive bigots out to impose their destructive, anti-American, anti-liberty agenda on everyone else. 

Trump supporters, including The Triggering Radio Hosts, have pledged to show up before the "town hall" begins and protest loudly and proudly.

I say good for them. This shameless, brazen attempt to usurp the authority and preeminence of the incumbent Congressman should backfire the more people learn how out of touch and arrogant these left-wing full-time protesters turn out to be.
