I received two text messages earlier today.
They both indicated to me that the former power behind the throne, or the eminence grise of the Republican Party of Los Angeles, Andy Gharakani, announced at the June 2019 LA County GOP Central Committee meeting that he was stepping down.
He is going away.
Let's be frank: he is being asked to leave.
For the last two months, I have been receiving emails from an account labeled "Take Back RPLAC", and we have received more news about Grabby Andy using the LA County Central Committee to make money, while the county party makes no progress, and the candidates make no victories.
Andy is OUT!
I also suspect that Andy decided to get while the getting was good, because there is no more money to pocket while pretending to consult for candidates and causes which further the state of California.
Gharakani, the "New Majority", and the other leadership PACs have not been about getting good conservative people elected. They have been all about getting their bank accounts fattened.
Now, Gharakani is on the way out.
But what about Richard Sherman? What's going to happen to him?
Word has it that Richard Sherman, the current RPLAC Chairman, is going to step down, too, since he has no idea how to lead, and has only been doing whatever Andy tells him to.
Is there new hope for a real, robust political opposition in Los Angeles County? The Democratic Party throughout the state of California is collapsing in on itself. The California Democratic Party had to throw out their previously-elected chairman, openly gay nurse Eric Bauman, for sexual harassment, and even then he had only gotten elected by a 72 vote margin.
The Democratic hegemony in California is beyond corrupt. There is room, there is opportunity for real leadership to pay attention to the needs of everyday Californians who want safe communities, freedom, and a desire to live their lives in peace.
With the RPLAC eminence grise gone, there's an opportunity for different leadership to Make LA County Great Again.
Personal Note
Normally, I would not add these remarks, but I think it's worth while to do so. One of the individuals whom I spoke with about the above news had known about all the bad things that RPLAC had attempted against me and others.
The more that I have learned more about Christ's love for me. The more that I realize how rich and ravishing His grace is, the less concerned I had become about outcomes. I no longer put undue pressure on God to vanquish my enemies, so to speak, but to take solace, love, and strength in His caring for me. He is in the restoration business, and therefore I no longer have to waste my time trying to make other people pay back whatever they may have told me.
More importantly, however, I needed to understand fully that God's love for me is real, eternal, and has been showering on me since the beginning, even before I believed on His Son! It would he contemptible for me to base God's love on me based on whether things worked out, in that he removed bad people from power on my timetable.
But God is not moved by even that. God wants me to love Him on the must trustworthy, perfected foundation: His Son's death, resurrection, and never-ending ministry at the right hand of God the Father. That is the basis for our love, that is the basis for our faith in Him. His love alone, His grace alone supplies us perfectly--and I learned to recognize how unmovable His love is for me.
When I rested in that, no matter what bad things may have happened, then all the prayers that I have prayed began getting answered in much shorter time than previously realized. It's quite something!
So, when I received the two text messages from friends of mine regarding what happened to "Grabby Andy" Gimmekandy, and what is likely in store for Richard Sherman, I had a simple peace about it. My joy is no longer based so narrowly on seeing the downfall of my enemies, since God has already blessed me with so much more--and is blessing me all the more!
Will there be a new future for the Republican Party of Los Angeles County? Who knows?

President, TLRA: RPLAC Issued a "CYA Memo"
Claude Todoroff of the Torrance-Lomita Republican Assembly issued the following rebuke to RPLAC Treasurer Gary SCAM-inoff:
Gary,
In the business world we call what LACGOP is doing is a CYA memo. All that LACGOP will do this November is set us up for more defeats. You guys have lost so often that it has become your status quo. BTW did you notice in the clip from the radio show that Carl also mentioned that LACGOP was AWOL when the Repeal the Gas Tax drive was going on. You can't do a CYA memo for that.
When will BCR get their charter back? If you guys at LACGOP wanted to heal that wound you would show up at their next meeting and give it back to them without BCR having to reapply and all that other crap.
![]() |
| RINO Chairman Richard Sherman |
I hear that LACGOP was not happy that the Torrance clubs did precinct walking in the primary for our Torrance city council candidates instead of for Scotto or Dr. Ken Wright. The real races were at the city level since it was obvious to the clubs that Scotto and Dr. Wright would advance. I guess youguys weren't too concerned about Omar Navarro since you put all your support on that loser Edwin Duterte who burned bridges faster than he could built new ones. BTW we won 2 out of the 4 races. That's a lot better than LACGOP did in Nov. 2016 but I guess that was all Trump's fault and not the weak candidates who threw candidate Trump under the bus and caused the base not to vote for your little darlings. Now one of those failed candidates who threw candidate Trump under the bus in early July 2016 wants to be state chairman. God help us.
If that happens I will join the DTS faction too. The base wants candidates who wrap their arms around our president and not RINOs who will throw our president under the bus again in 2020. You need to tell the anti-Trumpers to get in the back of the bus and STFU. Trump knows how to win and the anti-Trumpers will only teach you what LACGOP has been doing for decades ie. how to LOSE.
Let me suggest that in order to reverse your Yes on 6 PR disaster that Mr. Sherman get on the radio show this Friday and let him discuss things with Carl. How much of a communication error could there have been when Yes on 6 was told to get their stuff out of your Encino offices? When did the LACGOP decide to junk the long standing GOP platform of lower taxes and less government? Was it the same time you flushed "family values" down the RINO toilet? When you start looking and behaving like Democrats you don't give your base a reason to support the GOP candidates. Start standing for our principles again like Pres. Trump has then you might start giving the Democrats a run for their money again. Does LACGOP really want to see Al Murasutchi (Christians need to evolve in their believes) or Ted Lieu (assign a shrink 24/7 to the WH to make sure the president doesn't go off his rocker) or Maxine Waters (impeach 45) being re-elected for another 2 year term? Maybe LACGOP should read the Art of the Deal and you could learn to be winners again like we were in the 60s and 70s. Instead it seems you are all reading "What Happened" the blame book by crooked Hillary.
Claude
Claude Todoroff doesn't mince words.
Maybe he should be the next Republican Party of Los Angeles County Chairman!
Shameful! RPLAC Refused to Take Gas Tax Repeal Literature (Major CYA Followed)
The Republican Party of Los Angeles County Central Committee is a RINO-infested mess.
Here's the full "Excuse"
The leadership revoked the charter for two volunteer clubs:
1. The Beach Cities Republicans
2. The Mountain View Republican Club
The reasons?
Our clubs were actively conservative, pro-Trump.
I had invited Latinos for Trump founder Marco Gutierrez to speak to our club, and the leadership of the local central committee told me to cancel the meeting. She even called my work to try and convince my boss to get me to cancel the meeting.
Corrupt and illegal.
The central committee recently exposed how not just out of touch, but unwilling and uninterested they were in helping the conservative cause in the state of California.
The John and Ken Show interviewed Carl DeMaio, and he exposed that the RPLAC Central Committee blew off De Maio and the Yes on Prop 6 campaign.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aW29mCdA3Y
I am not surprised that they would blow off any interest in doing something worthwhile for any Republicans in Los Angeles County or even throughout the state of California.
Disappointing, but not uprisings.
Outraged, I shot off a heated letter to the RPLAC "leadership":
Shame on You!! You Must Help Effort to Distribute Yes on Prop 6 Signs

Dear RINO Los Angeles Central Committee:
CC: Richard Sherman:
You guys are absolutely terrible.
You won't raise money.
You don't help with efforts to get candidates elected.
You take away charters for working GOP groups that actually do stuff.
Now you won't even help distribute Yes on Prop 6 signs?

I had send this email through blind carbon copy to other conservatives, including club leaders, in Los Angeles County.
Claude Todoroff, the President of the Torrance-Lomita Republican Assembly, wrote in response:
Thank you so much for that video. Somebody at the TLRA B-B-Q told me yesterday about the county party no supporting the Gas Tax Repeal. I have to say I was stunned but not really surprised. This is the proof that we needed to hear that the L.A. County GOP is not in our corner but stands with Gov. Moonbeam. Yesterday I wrote you that the LA County GOP needs to lead, follow or get out of the way. Forget that. It is now clear they need to just get out of the way because the GOP base will not stand for this type of betrayal. You can't spin this. Richard Sherman and his LA County GOP team have sold us out and they need to resign ASAP. All they will do is lead us down the road to another wipe out defeat like in 2016.
To all who are blind copied on this e-mail please call the county party in Encino and demand they all resign immediately. The number is 818-558-7600. With such incompetent and perhaps corrupt leadership it should be no surprise our hard working candidates and volunteers get defeated. The GOP is now the party of Pres. Donald Trump and we have to do like he does and tell the leadership of the LA County GOP "YOU'RE FIRED".
Please forward this to all your contacts and have them demand new leadership now for the L.A. County GOP. They aren't even RINOs anymore but the lackey of Gov. Moonbeam and the Democrats. Don't let them weasel out with some poor excuse that this was an error or something else really lame. Even if they now take the signs and other literature we still can't be sure that they are 100% on board or just doing it to keep the exit door from hitting them in their stupid buttocks. If they were truly on board, this sell-out would never have happened. They can never be trusted again.
Claude
The next day, I received this #CYA email from RPLAC Treasurer Gary SCAM-inoff:
Claude and Arthur,
What Carl said on John & Ken is not true. It was a big miscommunication. Of course the LAGOP supports the repeal of the gas tax. Carl is going to correct what he said. If you want more details call me.

This has a wonderful name: CYA, i.e. "Cover Your Ass"
And it's fitting, since the leadership of RPLAC are acting like Donkey Democrats, not Red Republicans.
Claude's response was fitting:
Gary,
I want to hear it from Carl and until I hear that from Carl I'm not buying "miscommunication". We have seen the disloyalty of LACGOP on numerous occasions so don't hold it against me if I am skeptical.
Claude
Here's what RPLAC posted on its practically non-existent Facebook Page:
Here's the full "Excuse"
Here is what happened with the YES on 6 Signs:
First of all, let me say that of course the LAGOP supports the repeal of the gas tax, and supports the YES ON 6 group, and has from the beginning.
The LAGOP offices are on the fifth floor of a high-rise security building. We have two small rooms which are overcrowded as is. It is a security building, which means you have to check in with the security guard in the lobby before coming up, and if you park in the building the parking rates are outrageous.
Because of all these conditions, the offices of the LAGOP are not suited for distribution of signs. Volunteers will wind up paying $5-$10 for parking and will have difficulty getting up to the offices. Additionally, we just don’t have the room for signs.
Last week a driver showed up with 1,000 signs, without prior notice and left them in the hallway because they were too many to get into the office. Our Executive Director called the County Party Chairman who explained to the driver that the offices of the LAGOP are not suitable for distributing 1,000 signs, and that we have 14 other locations in LA County where signs are being distributed for YES ON 6.
The driver went back and without reporting the details or reasons, stated that LAGOP had refused to distribute signs, which was totally inaccurate. Whoever reported to Carl DeMaio just reported that the LAGOP had refused to distribute signs. That is why Carl said what he said on the John and Ken show on Friday.
Carl has now been informed as to what the real story is and sent out the following tweet this morning. He is going on the John and Ken show on Friday to explain what happened.
There is nothing which suggests that it is a matter of course for the Republican Party of Los Angeles County to support the repeal of the gas tax. There is nothing to justify or to censure this sentiment.
If the building is as secure as they claim, then how did Carl end up providing the signs in the first place? "There wasn't enough room for the signs." Sure, whatever you say, buddy.
This is a load of garbage, no matter how one looks at it. By the way ... how come the County GOP office is in such a high rise to begin with? Is it that they are hiding something? Are they trying to avoid any kind of connection or with the public?
How is it possible that there would be so much miscommunication? There is a lot more to this mess than has been reported, as usual. I have emails from SCAM-inoff, in which he reports that the RPLAC revoked the charter of the Beach Cities Republicans for other reasons, not the ones stated to the public.
The RPLAC leadership have a habit of lying, of hiding the truth, of dishonoring the base in the county. There is no reason why anyone should believe anything that they say.
Final Reflection
I never thought I would see the day that the corrupt RINO central committee would get shredded in such a public fashion. I will be honest: it was quite gratifying and liberating to see these corrupt liars getting raked over their feckless laziness.
More to come!
Updated:
De Maio got what he needed from Gary, but it took an epic media onslaught to get something happening:
I'm pleased that the Treasurer of the @RPLAC this morning has stepped in to commit his county party's help on Yes on Prop 6 and serve as a better point of contact from now on. We look forward to their help in our LA-area events to Get-Out-The-Vote for reformers! @johnandkenshow— Carl DeMaio (@carldemaio) August 20, 2018
Of course, the massive pressure from Carl De Maio is exactly what it took for RINO-PLAC to do anything!

David Hadley: "There is No CRP, There is No RPLAC." So Why Be Chairman?
Shortly after Election 2016, I had faced a number of crushing, frustrating challenges within the California Republican Party leadership, specifically within Los Angeles County, and directly with the 66th Assembly District Central Committee.
The Chairwoman of the district, who was responsible for getting Hadley re-elected as well as helping Republican clubs work together and grow, had spent more time badgering me to cancel a meeting with Latinos for Trump.
Her name is Janice Webb.
She spent more time plotting to get rid of me and sideline other activists.
She violated labor laws and called my work, called my boss to pressure me to cancel the meeting hosted by the Beach Cities Republicans, the club for which I was President.
She and the rest of the corrupt RPLAC leadership threatened me and the rest of the club, telling them that they had to reject electing me again as the President, or they would revoke the club's charter. The members called their bluff.
They ended up lying, breaking a number of rules, and ultimately revoking our charter because ... we were a successful, active club that was registering new members, voters, and participating in the community.
Members of the central committee were also working with liberal groups that promoted illegal immigration. I exposed a lot of this corruption and abuse of power, but that's another story.
After the 2016 election, which Hadley lost, I had agreed to sit down and meet with him to discuss what he wanted to do going forward. He had responded that he had no interest in talking about what other people had done wrong--even though they were engaging in some very corrupt, unethical practices, which included moving meetings and not telling members of the local Central Committee.
Finally, I wrote this letter of protest:
It is a waste of time for you to spend a lot of time popping off and asking questions: why RPLAC raises so little money, or why there is no voter registration, or why we are not building certain kinds of coalitions.
Excuse my slight overstatement to make a point, but there is basically no CRP. There is practically no RPLAC. As far as I know, RPLAC has one paid staffer (Jason Maruca) and a lot of volunteers. They are up against the mightiest political machine in the country. The chair of the ADCC is a volunteer, doing what he/she can. Reading long emails from a person who (as far as I know) has never run for RPLAC, who wants to ask a bunch of rhetorical questions and offer a bunch of opinions about how to MakeCaliforniaGreatAgain, is not a good use of their time or my time.
Six years ago I was frustrated and horrified by many of the same weaknesses that you identified in your email. I didn't write long emails berating then-current RPLAC or ADCC members to do their jobs better. I agreed to become the chair of BCR, and I did the best job at that that I could. It was the only political job I did. Then I was asked to run for the ADCC, and I agreed, and I agreed to become chair in the fall of 2012. You know the rest of the story from there. But I never once asked people why they weren't doing their jobs. I picked a job and I did it - whether it was BCR, or ADCC, or candidate, or legislator. And as I gained knowledge and credibility and experience, I tried to help people be more effective, but I tried not to opine on things that I didn't have the time to do myself.
I appreciate your effort to mend fences and your offer "how can I help?" in your RPLAC/ADCC email. IMHO, the right approach is to go pick a job and do it well, figure out how to do it. If RPLAC knew how to raise money, they would. They don't know how. If they knew how to register voters, they would. They either don't know how or don't have the resources to execute. Go do something that isn't being done, and do it well. Don't write emails about how others should spend their time or do their jobs.
BTW, there is virtually no significance to being a chartered organization. There is virtually no significance that comes from being on the ADCC or RPLAC. You could do what you wanted to do to help with a position, or without one. Go do a job well - whether it is BCR, or blogging, or something else - and develop relationships with people along the way.
That is my advice. Take it for what it is worth, DFH

Finally, I wrote this letter of protest:
David:
I respect your interest not to allow petty, internecine fights drag
down the already weakened RPLAC and CAGOP.
But it's time to ask harder questions, like why LA County did take on a
deeper hue of blue?
Why? It all DOES connect to the "he said--she said" fights.
In the mean time ...
Where is the registration? Nowhere.
Where is the outreach? Not to be seen (unless you see people like me
who go to Huntington Park and Cudahy, or visit with other Trump-Republicans in
Long Beach).
Why all the RPLAC anti-volunteer mismanagement (which points to why I have
made a big to-do about Janice Webb's abusive behavior as well as the threats
against the Beach Cities Republicans).
The same leadership doing the same things ...
RPLAC raised $500,000. That's IT?!
Where are the connections with other policy-based activist groups like
" Pro-Life Generation"? How about "Students First" or "The
Right To Work Foundation"?
Let's Face it -- Big Labor flooded AD-66, and washed us out!
Why are we not connecting with hard-hitting journalists like Phelim
McLeer, who is exposing that the anti-fracking agenda is corrupt and
anti-worker?
We need to start shaping the culture of Los Angeles County, not just
thinking about influencing the next election.
Why ARE there so many factions fighting in this county?
I will tell you -- grassroots activists like myself are given the
finger or brushed aside so that a few moneyed interests can dictate what happens.
THAT IS WRONG!
RPLAC has to have consensus leadership.
The paradigm of center-right is not working, because the extremes
define the center, and many in both camps embrace clashing views.
Let's focus on consensus reforms.
Yes, that was a lot - but it feels good to outline all of this.
Still up for a cup? (Coffee, that is) -- if it has to be at a shop
during my lunch hour -- fine.
For the record, I am not interested in play-time, and I am not sure
that "center-right" as a paradigm is enough.
And this is the arrogant, tone-deaf, RPLAC-enabling response I received from Hadley:

Arthur,
I have read your email to me, and I have read your email to RPLAC/ADCC, and I am going to give you some tough love.
Here are the statements that I want you to see:
It is a waste of time for you to spend a lot of time popping off and asking questions: why RPLAC raises so little money, or why there is no voter registration, or why we are not building certain kinds of coalitions.
Really? But wait a minute ... isn't the purpose of a Central Committee, whether at the county or even the assembly district level to:
1. Raise money
2. Register votes
3. Run candidates?
Those are not "waste of time" questions. Those questions must be asked and answered so that Republicans can start fighting and winning again
How about this?
![]() |
| Yes, those are Hadley's own words to me. |
Excuse my slight overstatement to make a point, but there is basically no CRP. There is practically no RPLAC. As far as I know, RPLAC has one paid staffer (Jason Maruca) and a lot of volunteers.
If there is no CRP, aka California Republican Party, if there is no RPLAC, Republican Party of Los Angeles County, then why run for Chairman of the Party?
Why serve as Vice-Chair? What is Hadley hoping to get out of all of this, then?
By the way, the paid staffer Jason Maruca was a functionally illiterate glorified secretary getting paid $5000 a month! That's right. All that money that Charles "The Bow-Tied One" Munger was pouring into the Los Angeles County Central Committee was ... paying for one overpaid staffer and little else.
As for "a lot of volunteers", most of the volunteers felt snubbed and pushed away. Most volunteers worked with candidates only, and they rejected the notion of helping the county party. The corrupt central committee revoked the charter for two active clubs, the Beach Cities Republicans and the Mountain View Republicans. RPLAC didn't raise money. They didn't register voters. They violated numerous by-laws.
Here's one story: Andy Gharakani, the power behind the throne (toilet bowl, more accurately) wasted a bunch of money to register voters one year, and nothing came of it except ... a lot of wasted money. Period.
How about this? Carl De Maio had to call out RPLAC this past week because they didn't want to help with the Yes on Prop 6 gas tax repeal! Unreal.
Then Hadley gives me a history lesson:
Six years ago I was frustrated and horrified by many of the same weaknesses that you identified in your email. I didn't write long emails berating then-current RPLAC or ADCC members to do their jobs better.
Six years later, and RPLAC still sucks. Those weaknesses have not been fixed, and they have ruined Republican chances of winning. You can't fix problems if you won't call them out. I called them out, and they kicked out the Beach Cities Republicans. Strange.
If RPLAC knew how to raise money, they would. They don't know how. If they knew how to register voters, they would. They either don't know how or don't have the resources to execute.
Huh? If leaders in a county central committee don't know how to do their jobs, then why are they still there? People like Gary Aminoff and Maureen Johnson have been barnacles on the ship for decades, and things have gotten steadily worse. Richard Sherman? Who is this guy? Howard Hakes? Would someone please tell me why this New Majority add-on has only helped make Republicans a New Permanent Minority in Los Angeles County? Janice Webb? The only reason she was appointed to anything is because of her skin color. Guess what? That is racist.
Oh, and she's an arrogant bully whom no one wants to work with, and she should no longer have any position of power or authority in local or county central committee leadership.
Sorry if this is a shock to some, but part of a party is that the members must select leaders who are willing to ... lead. If the leaders fail, then new ones need to take over. Why is it that such routine and repeated confidence continues to take over RPLAC? The members aren't allowed to have a say, because the executive committee will move meetings without telling members, violate by-laws, revoke the charters of clubs, or change the by-laws in order to get rid of inconvenient members.
In short: corruption. They also lied to the press repeatedly about me, covering up for why the Beach Cities Republican charter was revoked, then cited my "inappropriate activities" at city councils and town halls. There's just one problem: RPLAC revoked the charter BEFORE I engaged in any of those so-called "inappropriate" activities.
What is the cause of all this?
Two words: Andy Gharakani. Three Words: The New Majority. One Word: RINOs
And who is Gharakani backing for CAGOP Chair? Wait for it ... David Hadley.
And last of all, Hadley writes:
BTW, there is virtually no significance to being a chartered organization. There is virtually no significance that comes from being on the ADCC or RPLAC. You could do what you wanted to do to help with a position, or without one.
Hadley says that Central Committees don't matter ... RPLAC doesn't matter ... There is no significance to being a chartered organization ...
Again ... why is David Hadley running for Republican Party of California Chairman if he holds the organization and institutions in such low esteem? I will go one further: why does he want to run an entire statewide organization when he holds its individual members (like me) and its volunteer clubs (like the Beach Cities Republicans) in such low esteem?
Why not ask David Hadley ...
