Thousand Oaks on SB 54: Why Are They Doing Nothing?

I began writing to city councils and staff in Ventura County about one month ago. It seemed like then next natural course of action to ensure that more cities trhoughout Southern California would put the needs of their citizens ahead of illegal aliens, especially violent criminals released onto California streets to commit more crimes then escape justice by running to their home countries.

I contacted Thousands Oaks, expecting to get some real results.

Here's the first letter that I received:

Mr. Schaper:

Thank you for contacting the City of Thousand Oaks.

Please be advised that the City of Thousand Oaks has not declared itself a sanctuary city.

The City of Thousand Oaks maintains a legislative platform.  Issues such as immigration/illegal immigration, gun control, reproductive health and war are federal issues and are beyond the scope of local government.  Federal issues are left to the purview of federal legislators.

Although many cities have taken positions or engage in federal issues, the City of Thousand Oaks remains neutral.

Sincerely,

Mina M. Layba
Legislative Affairs Manager
City of Thousand Oaks
2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd
Thousand Oaks, CA 91362
805-449-2109

These statements are not acceptable. It's not enough to oppose something in secret, yet refuse to make a statement openly. Elected officials took an oath of office publicly--and they need to affirm that oath publicly. There is no excuse for this.

Great, Thousands Oaks has declared that they are not a sanctuary city. But this stance does not supersede or prevent the enforcement of SB 54. We need cities to take a stand against unconstitutional lawlessness emanating out of Sacramento.

I wrote a second letter blasting this quiet non-stance approach.

Then I received a letter that the matter was closed, because Mrs. Layba had sent me a response.

Then I received another letter announcing that this isssue I had presented was "in process".

This was really confusing, so I have informed as many residents in Ventura County as I can to address this issue as effectively as possible.

The City of Thousand Oaks has no excuse for sitting on the fence. They need to take a firm stance, or at the very least allow a discussion of the issues. No Ventura County resident should fear for his life, and no city official should sit on the sidelines and say nothing.

Contact the Thousand Oaks city council, and urge them to oppose and opt out of SB 54:

Open Letter to Ventura County Residents: Demand Your Cities/County Opt Out of SB 54!

Hello Ventura County!

Are you tired of Sacramento politicians ignoring our United States Constitution and undermining our rights?

Are you fed up with politicians at the local and state level putting illegal aliens ahead of American Citizens?

How many more lives need to be lost to illegal aliens? How much more can our infrastructure our public services take?

State Senator Kevin De Leon authored SB 54, the so-called “Sanctuary State” law, but it should be called “Outlaw State” bill, the legislation which is driving the above negative consequences against all of us.

This law is patently unconstitutional, usurping federal powers clearly enumerated in Article 1, Section 8 of the United States Constitution. Furthermore, this legislation undermines federal law, and all federal laws are the Supreme Law of the Land (Article 6, Section 2).

Furthermore, this legislation invites further invasion and domestic unrest to the state of California, two clear and present dangers which the United States Federal government is authorized to stop (Article 4, Section 4).

The law endangers our law enforcement and hurts private businesses, who will either face prosecution from the state attorney general for cooperating with ICE, or face prosecution from the federal government for not cooperating with ICE.

GOOD NEWS!

Another Bear Flag Revolt is breaking out across the state against Sacramento’s lawless Sanctuary State law, SB 54.
