Letter to the Editor: Thoughtful Liberal Responds to "MAGA vs. DACA" Article

This was one of the most lengthy and involved letters I have ever received from a reader.

I am surprised and delighted that my article has continued trending for the last week. Last check, my Townhall.com article "MAGA vs. DACA" had been shared on Facebook 11 THOUSAND times at least.

Anyway, I received this extended letter from a liberal reader. He was actually quite civil in this letter, and truly disgusted with Jimmy Kimmel's behavior and his crass attempt to shame and demean us Trump supporters on his show.

I also posted this as a comment to your article about your appearance on Jimmy Kimmel's show before I noticed your email address... I hope that wasn't in bad form...  I'm very new to this (discussing politics with strangers)...  I guess that I'm doing it now because my frustration with everything is overwhelming...

Anyway, here is what I wanted to send you (I'm not sure if you have any time at all to read this):

Arthur, I am sorry about the way Jimmy Kimmel treated you and your friends. Even in the edited version of the video, there were times that it was obvious Kimmel wasn't letting you finish your points (or he just edited them out).

Not all liberals behave this way. Most of us (at least the people I know) want honest discussions about policy to improve our country. I have modified my stance on a few issues after lengthy discussions.

I am sorry for any insults from liberals, but as you know insults don't work from either side.

I want to respond to some of the things that you wrote, though.

You said, "I triggered this left-wing comic, and it was good! There is nothing more satisfying than catching white liberals in the depths of hypocrisy." I can't speak for you or Kimmel, but i want solutions... i don't care about who is triggered and by what they are triggered. There is nothing more satisfying than real solutions that maximize the number of people they help.

In watching the video, I was wondering why Esmeralda and her fiance don't just get married. As a side note, your offer to them was very generous. Even when they do get married, though, Esmeralda would have to return to Mexico and hope that she could obtain a visa to return legally before becoming a legal citizen under the current laws. This puts her in a very tough spot. Does she go to Mexico by herself? Does her daughter go with her? What about Michael? He definitely can't go with them. Personally, I think there should be a way for her to become a citizen without leaving her family.

I won't spend any more time on this anecdotal case, though. I want to get to the actual issues.

It is false that immigrants commit more crime than native born citizens. Illegal immigrants are HALF as likely to commit crimes once they are here and legal immigrants are even less likely (almost 70% less likely than native born citizens):

As for Ruben Morfin... crap, I'm getting back into anecdotal arguments... his death was a tragedy. The death of any child is a tragedy--in and from any country, religion, ethnicity, etc. But do you really have to go back to 1990 to find an example to help make your point? If your point is that illegal immigration is causing violence to American Citizens, it's a pretty weak argument. I do not want to diminish the tragedy, but it does not seem like the evidence is on your side. If you really want to help Americans, what about the 15,000 people killed by gun violence each year, excluding the 20,000 suicides using guns? About 200 people are killed each accidentally with guns. In the US, toddlers kill more people (unfortunately, mostly themselves) each year than terrorists do on American soil. In most years, the number of incidents in which guns were used defensively (there is no analysis regarding the necessity and effectiveness that I know of) is fewer than the accidental death number. Are guns the cause of violence in the US? Of course not. But neither is immigration, legal or illegal. Guns are a much larger symptom of the problem than immigration. The purpose of guns are to make killing more efficient and they succeed too often and too well. I am more than happy to discuss what I think is the root cause of violence (mostly gross education and income inequality, but that's the simple answer), but now does not seem like the right time to go into all of that. If you're looking for a band-aid to fix the symptom of violence against Americans, gun control would be much more inexpensive and effective than a border wall and deportation of illegal immigrants.

If you're looking for other ways to help Americans, 45,000 people die each year because of inadequate health insurance. Chanell also alluded to this problem. I agree completely. Most Americans support single-payer health care. Do you? This could eliminate this problem completely. And in the long run, it would save citizens a lot of money. I am open to discuss this as well, but I don't want to overload this response with too many details.

Just a couple of seemingly unrelated quick final comments:
You mentioned taking care of veterans and american citizens. I agree that this is super important, but do you really think that Trump and the Republican congress are the most likely to accomplish this? If so, how? The republican record is horrendous; the democrat record isn't much better, but it seems better to me.

I am curious how the "discredited" Southern Poverty Law Center fits into this... and since when have they been discredited?

Lastly, is immigration the primary concern for you (it seems like it is for Trump)? If so, why? You mentioned so many more important issues (at least I think they're more important): homeless veterans, inequity for minorities, senseless violence, lack of healthcare, etc. I could add some more issues to that list, but I'll do that another time. It seems like at least immigration from Mexico is not a major concern in our country, especially since our net immigration with Mexico is negative (there are more people leaving the US for Mexico than coming to Mexico from the US). Exposed! Disney/YouTube Shuts Down Grindall61 Video Exposing Kimmel's Selective Editing

Last week, members of We the People Rising/LA County for Trump and I joined Jimmy Kimmel to talk about the very contentious DACA issues.

The story has gone viral about our meeting with Kimmel and Esmeralda, a DACA recipient with a baby girl named Rosa, then her fiance Michael, an American serving in the military and in the Kansas Department of Corrections.

People all over the country have read about how Kimmel tried to dupe then shame us on national television, but we ended up turning the tables on him. Afterwards, I wrote an article for Townhall.com describing everything that happened, especially behind the scenes and what ended up on the editor's cutting room floor.

That article not only went viral, but was the #1 trending story on Townhall.com three days in a row!

Another story emerged out of this attempted smear job from the corrupt, left-wing talk show hack and the Disney Company.

Gary "Grindall61" Gileno put together a video showing how the Kimmel Show editors  cut out key portions of our discussion. One part showed Celeste Grieg about to answer a question, and then the camera immediately shifted over to Wes Parker. In another part of the Kimmel segment, the audience watches Michael enter the room, and you can see me talking, but there is no audio--the editors deliberate cut off the mike when I was talking.

In another section, I talk about my discussion with a DACA recipient at UC Irvine, but suddenly the camera breaks away and focused on Kimmel, who muses: "I'm trying to imagine you as a child. I think I can."

The editing was brazenly bad, in that the audience could see--when properly demonstrated--that Kimmel and crew engaged in considerable editing. It made difference, ultimately, since I reported at length all the great points our team had made, and all the hateful remarks and interruptions from Jimmy Kimmel. 

Grindall61's video was so revealing, that Disney issued a copyright strike against the video, and YouTube complied by taking the video down!

But the evidence of suppression from Disney, which owns ABC and thus the Kimmel Show, plus the fact that YouTube intervened the way they did simply shows that Grindall61 exposed how corrupt the modern media has become.

To date, I have received at least six emails and multiple notes and phone calls online celebrating what we did to Kimmel on his own program! 

Mark Reardon of KMOX Radio St. Louis had me on his show too, and that broadcast is going everywhere.

We are finally fighting and winning the culture wars, right on the left's own battlefield--and it is spectacular!

MAGA vs. DACA: How Trump Supporters Trumped Jimmy Kimmel on Late Night TV

Last week, Jimmy Kimmel, the late-night talk show host with a terminal case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, wanted to host a segment with voters who oppose DACA. To find willing guests, ABC Casting had reached out to me and fellow Trump supporters to appear on the show. At first, I was reluctant. Kimmel uses every shame-inducing prop imaginable to attack President Trump in particular and conservatives in general. I reached out to friend and fellow activist, Robin Hvidston, director of We the People Rising, for advice. She encouraged me to go with her and four others: Chanell Temple, Wes Parker, Lorie Masonas, and Celeste Grieg. All of us know each in other conservative circles throughout Southern California.

On the recording date, we signed in and passed through security screenings. Immediately I noticed along the entry corridor all kinds of photos with Kimmel’s favorite guests and craziest moments. The most prominent photo portrait featured Kimmel shaking President Barack Obama’s hand at a state dinner. I decided to fix the picture (see above).

Before meeting with Jimmy, the production crew led us through a dress rehearsal of sorts, to make sure that we were comfortable speaking alone and defending our stance on DACA.  Kimmel then interviewed each of us about the program on the steps outside of his theater. I told him that nearly 50% of DACA recipients are fraudulent, and illegals commit proportionally more crime than Americans. He finished our brief interview with: “I want you to meet somebody.”

After the interviews, our team waited in the Green Room. I pondered who Kimmel was going to have us meet. “He’s going to present a child who is in this country illegally,” I imagined. The rest of the team I were prepared for anything. Lo and Behold, Kimmel introduced us to Esmeralda, a DACA recipient brought into this country by her law-breaking illegal parents. She was seated with a baby girl in her lap. Kimmel staged the most compassionate scenario, hoping to shame us into silence. Immediately, I showed the mother and child my shirt, which featured the profile of young Ruben Morfin, an all-American 13-year old boy executed by an illegal alien. “He had dreams, too,” I quickly shared before Kimmel shushed me. He would attempt to silence me an unprecedented five times. Little did Little Kimmel realize, however, but all of us were seasoned activists trained in how to deal with fawning, guilt-trip inducing liberal media hacks.

Right away, I opened up about our need to put Americans first, including our homeless veterans and foster children. “OK, Arthur, that’s enough.” And why couldn’t I finish? “Because this is my show!” Kimmel fired back. He would say that three more times. What a dictator! I mentioned general statistics about illegals committing a higher rate of crimes that native-born citizens. “OK Sean Hannity, give it a rest,” Kimmel mocked me. “I don’t watch Hannity,” I countered. Other people in our group were shocked to see how triggered the comic had become. Lorie fired back: The New York Times is fake news!”

Kimmel tried to refocus the discussion: “Who still thinks Esmeralda should be deported?” Lorie, Wes Parker, and I raised our hands. Wes said that the baby could not be deported, but the mother should be. Celeste established that it’s a legal matter. Hoping to ratchet up the pressure, Kimmel brought in Esmeralda’s fiancé Micahel, an American citizen working in the Kansas correctional system and serving in the army.

Immediately, all of us declared that Michael should marry Esmeralda. That would settle her legal status. They already had a kid together, so what was holding them back? Celeste even offered to host a fundraiser for their wedding. Because my father is ordained to officiate weddings, I offered to call him, but Kimmel refused: “Don’t call your Dad.”

I pointed out that there are ways to settle Esmeralda’s unlawful status. My friend Fernando had entered illegally, then married an American citizen. I then reasserted to Michael and Esmeralda that we are a nation of laws, and that I have not been afraid to tell illegals that they must establish legal status. “I find it hard to believe that you have friends,” Kimmel retorted. Everyone else gasped at his insolent behavior. Kimmel was trying to rile me and others up, but failed time and again. I prepared to call Fernando, but Kimmel wouldn’t let me, because I would have proven how wrong he was … again.

Chanell gave the most impassioned statements, declaring how her husband was an immigrant, that she had waited in line with him for years before finalizing his naturalization status. “You are playing on our compassion! You didn’t let us bring our children!” Chanell then showed a picture of her daughter on her phone. She died at 5 years old, unable to get adequate health care. “Why won’t the federal government pay more attention to Americans?” Chanell asked. During the earlier individual interview segment, Chanell had railed against illegal aliens for stealing the civil rights movement forged by black Americans to assert their rights in the South. Chanell schooled Kimmel on the a`mnesty movement’s misuse of the term “Dreamer” for young illegals. “Our children are dreamers, too!”

Chanell also described the devastation which illegal immigration has wrought in black communities. In another disgusting display, Kimmel looked over to Esmeralda: “You’re not going around killing black people, are you?” It is amazing to me to what extent white liberals will dishonor the plights of the very minority communities which they virtue-signal about to the press and the public. Wes Parker slammed Kimmel’s whole set-up expertly: “You are trying to put our compassion on trial!” We refused to be bullied from our opposition to DACA. Robin reassured Esmeralda that she would not have to wait ten years for legal status if she married Michael.

The pièce de résistance occurred when Kimmel tried one more time to silence me. Bursting through all of Kimmel’s attempts to shame us, Lorie reminded the audience about the needs of American citizens. In rude yet repeated fashion, Kimmel championed Esmeralda but talked over Lorie, and I finally calmly asked: “Jimmy, why won’t you let this Latina for Trump speak? You keep interrupting her. Is it because she has darker skin than you?”

With that, Kimmel completely lost it and shouted at me: “Shut up, you a---hole!”

BAM! Everyone else in the room was shocked, including members of the production crew. I burst out laughing. I triggered this left-wing comic, and it was good! There is nothing more satisfying than catching white liberals in the depths of hypocrisy.

Kimmel even talked about the child’s safety and security. Our team answered: “If you really care about young Rosa, why don’t you adopt her while Esmeralda establishes her legal status in this country?” I then mentioned that maybe that wouldn’t be a good idea, since Hollywood is full of pedophiles, plus the whole #MeToo scandals. Everyone gasped. We really turned the tables on Kimmel at that point.

The recording for the segment wrapped up shortly afterwards. One of the production assistants smiled: “You guys did a great job. You stood your ground!” He even gave me a high five. When exiting the sound stage, I asked if I could have a donut, but one of the crewmembers cut me off: “Nope. Just the staff.” The attitude from some of the staffers changed. They had expected to corner us, but failed miserably. I asked about Kimmel’s side-kick parking security guard Guillermo, who leads spelling bees dressed up in a bumble-bee costume and mispronounces the spelling words. Someone snidely said to me: “He got deported.” Why would they say such a thing? Because Guillermo is Hispanic? “That’s racist”, I said out loud.

Going home, I wondered if the production crew were going to distort the forum to make us look bad. Well, Kimmel's DACA segment broadcasted that same night, and they presented us accurately as respectful and clear-headed. Kimmel’s one joke directed at me: “I’m trying to imagine you as a child,” fell flat, much like his “bombshell” guest, porn star Stormy Daniels, who had announced prior to appeared that she did nothing with Trump.

I received emails and message from all over the country thanking us for our appearance. There have been some haters, mostly citing the discredited the Southern Poverty Law Center, but their vitriol on social media merely exposed their unbelievable hate. It was a real victory for us and for Trump supporters in general. We turned the tables on a liberal media mogul, we got national attention, and we demonstrated to conservative voters that you can indeed stand your ground on contentious issues without fear.

Kimmel and Co. didn’t realize whom they were messing with, and I am glad I could relate what else happened behind the scenes. At this point, I hope that Kimmel and his production team will show some guts and release the entire video of our forum with Esmeralda, Michael, and their child!

Trolling Jimmy Kimmel: Trump Supporters Take On Liberal Hollywood Talk Show Host

Jimmy Kimmel is an arrogant, hard-nosed liberal. He has turned his late-night comedy show into a social justice warrior anti-Trump hate-fest. He worked overtime to take down Judge Roy Moore during his general election bid for Alabama's open US Senate seat.

It was really shameful how he behaved. Not only that, but for the last six months, he has sought to shame Republicans and conservatives in general for repealing Obamacare. He brought his own children into the mix in a brazen attempt to shame elected officials and bait the public.

I got to meet him--and meet his arrogant, elitist attitude head on.

ABC Casting had reached out to me during Election 2016 and then another time. They were hoping to get me and other Trump supporters in Los Angeles County to speak out in support for President Trump and his agenda.

I am glad that I was not on his show two years ago. I have no idea how he would have reacted then, especially because he like many of the arrogant, Hollywood liberal glitterati, were convinced that Trump didn't stand a chance of winning the election.

We all know how that turned out. Someone needs to remind me if Kimmel pledged to move to Canada when Trump became President ...

Anyway, the casting director invited us to Kimmel's theater because we were opponents to DACA, the Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals progrram imposed on this country by Barack Obama, which was unconstitutional at the outset.

All six of us know where we stand on illegal immigration, and we intended to make it clear to Kimmel and his prospective audience that we are about American citizens and the needs of our countrymen. We want to put Americans First, and we want to ensure that the whole country understands where we stand on the enforcement of our borders and the integrity of our nation’s sovereignty.

Kimmel's theater is right next to the El Capitan on Hollywood Blvd. Both are owned by the Disney Company, which also owns ABC.

I wore a t-shirt with a picture of Ruben Morfin, the 13-year old American boy killed by an illegal alien. I also proudly wore my Make California Great Again cap.

We have debated and discussed this issue from every angle, and we were prepared to the every end to defend the United States, both its people and its culture, as well as the rule of law.

The security detail outside of the theater informed all of us to go to the back of the building. We arrived and we signed in, then we went through a long corridor in the back.

It's quite clear to anyone paying attention where Kimmel's alliances lie. He just loves Obama, everything about him, enough that he cherishes this photo above all the others.

Immediately, I decided to fix it:

All of us knew what we were stepping into. We know the abject liberalism of Kimmel, and the photo above proved it all.

The staff were kind to us, and they made us feel at home. They interviewed each of us separately in an editing room so that we would feel comfortable. They also asked our opinion about the different Presidential candidates who had run against Trump in 2016.

Then the casting director called each of us to go outside, and we sat on the steps in front of Kimmel's theater. I recorded a few moments right before I had the interview:

My friends and I then went into "The Green Room" for a little break until all six of us had been interviewed by Kimmel on the steps.

We all started talking with one another, and we were convinced that Kimmel was going to have a young DACA recipient. He was going to try and shame us for our views on enforcing immigration laws.

And we were right!

A young lady name Esmeralda came to one of the couches, and she was holding a young child. Before Kimmel began speaking, I showed Esmeralda the picture of Young Ruben Morfin on my shirt:

Kimmel basically tried to shame us, making it seem like we were a bunch of heartless bigots.

But he made a huge mistake. We were all well-educated on the games that the media try to play on conservatives. For me, I did not even believe that this "Esmeralda" lady was actually a DACA recipient.

One of the first things I mentioned was that we need to put the needs of American children first, not illegals. I pointed out that the Republicans have funded the CHIP program for another six years, despite the Democrats’ attempts to shut down the government and prevent the funding from going forward. I knew that was going to set off Kimmel, since he had demagogued the issue for the last month, claiming that Republicans were determined to cut funding for children’s health programs.

HA HA!

Esmeralda was presented to us as someone who had been brought into this country at two years old by her parents, who had entered illegally. The little child in her arms would move around and show her arms, too. We learned that she has committed no (other) crimes. She pays taxes. She is also studying to be a nurse. Of course we knew that Kimmel would go to great lengths to provide the best type of "DACA" recipient. 

He refused to acknowledge that up to 50% of DACA recipients are fraudulent. He also didn't want to hear that more illegals are committing crimes that native-born residents.

Kimmel wanted us to justify our determination for our nation's immigration laws to be enforced. Wes Parker slammed Kimmel for trying to put our compassion on trial. This country has been good to illegals, especially considering that Mexico furnishes the national guard along their country's southern border--and they shoot at anyone who tries to enter the country from Central America.

Chanell Temple provided us a picture of her five-year old daughter, who passed away because she could not get adequate health coverage, yet illegals have access of all kinds to taxpayer subsidized health insurance, food stamps, housing vouchers, etc. Where is the justice for black communities ravaged by illegal immigration?

Chanell Temple was unstoppable. She referenced the civil rights issues, the plight of black communities, and the need for safety for American citizens.

Celeste Grieg is an immigrant herself, born in Barcelona, Spain. It took her six months to achieve legal residency. She became a fully naturalized citizen five years later. It took her five years. Why should illegal aliens be permitted to jump ahead of all the law-abiding legal residents?

Robin Hvidston insisted on ensuring that Americans in need were placed first in terms of priority for all Americans. She provided a calm, poised set of facts, and refused to be bullied on her point of view. 

I added that American dreamers like Ruben would never have their dreams come true. A few times, Kimmel told me to shut up, though, when I was offering some reasons why it's fully within the citizens' rights in this country to put the needs of Americans first and fully enforce our immigration laws.

Then Kimmel brought in Esmeralda's fiancé. He introduced himself as an American working for the Kansas Correctional System. He is a citizen who also serves in this country's military. The two adults facing us went to great lengths to present themselves as conservatives, as hearty down-to-earth people. It really seemed like an act at the point.

The liberal talk-show host really thought he had us backed into a corner. He would learn very quickly that we could--and would--turn the tables on him.

At one point, Kimmel mocked me, saying "I don't think you have any friends." He then asked if I had had a lobotomy. It was pretty obvious he was doing everything he could to make me angry. Instead of getting upset, I laughed at him and called out his intolerance. He really didn't want me to speak because I was knowledgeable on the issues. I talked about how illegal aliens are committing twice the rate of crimes compared to American citizens. When I cited an article published in the Washington Times, he dismissed it as "fake news." Laurie countered back with "The New York Times if fake news."

From the outset, Kimmel intended to shut me down about my "Set of facts." No matter what he tried to do, I refused to let him bully me or silence me.

Wes Parker made a great statement in the midst of the focus group discussion: "The rule of law is the most compassionate form of government." Mexico is falling into a violent, failed state precisely because the corrupt federal and state governments.

Chanell talked at great length about the terrible crimes which black Americans have endured because of illegal immigration. Her children were forced to move out of state because they  could not find work. Chanell herself lost her job because she could not speak Spanish. Why does she have to speak a foreign language in her own country to find work? This is ridiculous.

Kimmel would eventually try one more time to shut me down--and I do admit I had to give my fellow panelists time to speak. When Laurie talked about the need to put Americans first, including our homeless veterans and foster children, Kimmel started talking over her at length. I called him out on that: "What is it, Jimmy? Why won't you let her speak? Is it because of the color of her skin, that she is a Latina for Trump?"

Immediately, Kimmel yelled at me: "Shut up, you asshole!"

I laughed out loud—Kimmel was TRIGGERED!

At the end of the forum, all of us got up and left. I felt no ill will toward Kimmel or the crew. In fact, John the production director gave me a high-five and said: "You guys did great! You held your ground!"

Indeed we did!

Even Kimmel went over to shake my hand. I asked him to apologize, and he did.

Then I trolled him!

You will hear him say "I think that California is already great."

For whom?

Final Reflection

Just like President Trump, his supporters in California are prepared to take on the left-wing media and entertainment industries with grace and aplomb. We know that we need to get the message out, and especially in blue areas as well as blue states.

Kimmel thought that he would have us all lined up like sitting decks when he presented us with a sympathy case of a DACA recipient, her daughter, and her husband to be. A number of times, we urged the man to marry Esmeralda right on the spot. That arrangement would place her on a legal pathway to citizenship. My father is ordained to administer weddings, and I even offered to call him to officiate!

Celeste Grieg said that she would raise the money for them to have a wonderful wedding, too. At one point, I urged Kimmel to adopt the child if he was so worried about the little girl being separate from her mother or having to go back to live in Mexico.

At another point, when Kimmel was mocking me about dangerous conditions, I announced to everyone who Hollywood has been frequently defending rapists and pedophiles, along with the whole #MeToo allegations. Everyone was shocked when I called the industry out on all of that!

All in all, the focus group with Kimmel and the "DACA recipient" was a big win for us, regardless of whatever the editors put together for tonight's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
