LAUSD: Morally and Financially Bankrupt

Los Angeles Unified School District is having a hard time paying the bills, teaching the kids, and thus keeping its doors open.

Clearly, the administrators, bureaucrats, and the elected Board of Trustees don’t handle addition and subtraction all that well. The district is failing basic math, and not just for the students.

According to ABC News Los Angeles, LAUSD is on the brink of bankruptcy:

The Los Angeles Unified School District could run out of money within about a year and is showing severe signs of financial distress, according to county education authorities.

The nation's second-largest school district, which serves more than half a million students, faces possible insolvency, prompting the Los Angeles County Office of Education to take action.

The district's last student population estimate listed 497,105 enrollees. That’s LESS than half a million. Even ABC News is having number troubles.

What happened, and what could happen if the district doesn’t get its act together?

Officials cited massive union contracts estimated to cost more than $1 billion annually, along with declining enrollment and reduced state funding, as factors contributing to a growing deficit and the possibility of state oversight.

"Worst case scenario is the state takes over, and this goes under receivership under the state, and that takes a long time to get out of, and it is really hard to maintain any control over curriculum, over class size," Bacall said.

I am shocked---SHOCKED— (not!) that the school district is going belly up, and the parents are taking their students out.

The warning signs had been blaring for years.

The usual suspects cannot be ignored, and are easy to catalogue:

·         Plummeting Enrollment

·         Rising Inflation

·         Excessive Pensions and Salary Costs

·         Administrative bloat with Diminished Transparency and Oversight.

·         Lawsuit payouts

The biggest killer, obviously, is the plummeting enrollment. Los Angeles Unified kids aren’t learning, that’s for sure. According to US News and World Report, math proficiency scores have been plummeting across all grades. Reading scores show some progress from elementary to high school, but less than half of LAUSD high schoolers are proficient.

In the real world, companies without customers close down. In perverse contrast, government institutions get their money, whether they serve or not.

And LAUSD is not serving the public interest.

On top of that, LAUSD schools are not even safe. The students routinely run into abuse and harm from their peers—and sometimes their teachers! The rising rates of violence are frequently on the news. The feds could pull their funding because of the rising number of predator teachers who get transferred instead of incarcerated!

Getting a bad education from LAUSD was expected, but the student population was still relatively high.

Twenty years ago, I was a French teacher in South Gate, in a new school built on the site of an old General Motors plant. New school, lots of students (almost 3,000!), and there still weren’t enough classrooms. I had 45 students in one class! I could barely move around the room, and some students feared for their safety if there was a fire. When I threatened to call the fire marshal, the union rep leaned on the assistant principal, who moved three students out and dumped them in a P.E. class—those poor teachers had to deal with 70 students per period!

See how only three students were removed. Not much help there! Notice the bureaucratic hustle to get something done, too.

Fast forward to now, and LAUSD high schools, on average, manage around 1,000 students. Some of the schools should have been closed by now!

What changed the student population, then, if the bad education wasn’t enough? The dam broke with the COVID outbreak, which ended parental non-involvement. COVID-19 may have shut down the schools, but the whole ordeal opened the eyes of parents throughout the state. They saw the left-wing garbage their children were forced to learn. They saw the bad curriculum, the lack of attention to detail, integrity, and success. Los Angeles parents had had enough, and they voted with their feet, sometimes moving their kids to local districts (Downey, Torrance, Wiseburn Unified in the LAX-area are some notable examples), or they just left the state entirely.

COVID was a tipping point for another reason. Five years ago, I joined LAUSD teachers and parents protesting the outrageous health mandates from the district to “protect the kids.” Political affiliation or ideological leanings didn’t matter to all concerned attendees. Employees, students, and parents across the district protested in front of 333 South Beaudry, demanding that the district rescind its onerous vaccine mandates and mask rules and keep the schools open!

During the main rally after our march around the district office, teachers complained about the increased burden of contending with discipline issues and health demands. Then one of the students addressed the crowd, and her comments worked out to something like this: She lamented all the woke nonsense being shoved down her throat. She was tired of hearing all the race nonsense. She was tired of learning about the LGBT agenda and sitting through all the sexual diversity displays. Her summation was crystal clear about LAUSD, that they were not teaching anything, and then they make them wear these stupid masks, too!

Despite the rallying cry of parents and teachers, the district kept cracking down on the holdout teachers, staff, and students who had refused the jab. Facing the dim prospect of never entering the classroom again if they refused the dubious poke, students left.

The district didn’t care. They were looking for absolute obedience from the rank and file. If you didn’t step up, you got the boot.

And the teachers union—ULTA (United Teachers of Los Angeles)—didn’t care.

Five years later, their wicked, progressive partisanship could not be clearer. They don’t focus on education. They focus on leftist politics and progressive activism. In 2025, I was stunned by the large number of UTLA teachers protesting at Elon Musk’s Tesla headquarters in Hawthorne, CA. Didn’t they have more important things to do, like grading papers, preparing lessons, and contacting parents?

Their most pressing concern was stopping federal cuts to public education and the Department of Education. What they refuse to talk about—and this returns to the bureaucracy issue—is that public education could accomplish great things for students and parents with half the overhead, more accountability, lots of school choice, and efficient hiring and firing practices.

UTLA shouts “DOA!” at all of these reforms.

And the parents say, “CU Later.”

And now LAUSD announces that they’re broke.

Frankly, this is a fitting end for one of the largest school districts in the country. This kind of disruption, the cold equations of supply and demand, will do more to clean out the left-wing corruption that has marred states like California and New York while also limiting (and perhaps one day) shutting down the inordinate power of the National Education Foundation and the attending teachers unions across the country attached like tentacles to this destructive interest group.

LAUSD has been morally bankrupt for a long time, much of it from a corrosive teachers' union, inept and cowardly politicians, and misplaced priorities. Now their fiscal bankruptcy has come, and not a moment too soon.

Trump is Nothing but Excuses (DeSantis is Nothing but Results)

I have been waiting for months for this advertisement to hit the airwaves.

I am tired of Trump's excuses.

I am tired of all the major promises that he had made in 2016, but he didn't keep throughout his one term in office.

I am tired of politicians who say that they are not politicians, and then in the most political of fashions make excuses for not doing what they said they would do.

I am really confused and dismayed with so many current Trump supporters who are all in on Trump after these three to four years of Trump in the wilderness all while he continues to make excuses for not getting the job done, then attacking conservative groups and sentiments from voters across the country.

Donald Trump said that there would be so much winning, we would get tired of winning. After the poor election results in 2018, 2020, and 2022 (and let's throw in Virginia 2023 for bad measure), I am tired of losing.

And I am tired of losing with a retired incumbent who does not learn from his mistakes, who brought in all kinds of bad people into the Executive Branch during his tenure, who has shown no interested in surrounding himself with better people, who lies to the public about his bad decisions and bad personnel choices, only to demand more loyalty in the face of all-but certain doom on Election Day 2024.

Republicans, constitutionalists, conservatives of all backgrounds: we can do better than Trump.

We can do better than lame excuses and half-measures.

This time I mean it: Dump the Donald.

Save California: More Data Debunking Covid Lies

Hi Arthur,

If, during the Covid tyranny of 2020-2023, you knew at the beginning, or discovered midway, or realized later, that the medical establishment was feeding you a bunch of lies, you're smarter than average.

Because none of the Covid "restrictions" stopped the spread. What's more, the tyrannical "lockdowns," "social distancing," and "required vaccinations" all violated tried-and-true principles from epidemiology, American history, and your God-given rights in the Bible.

And now, the deceitful house of sand built by the Tyrannical Left is crumbling at its very foundation. New data shows how the centerpiece of the medical tyranny -- Big Pharma's monetized "jab" -- not only didn't work, but injured and killed many people.

Please see and share these recent reports by truth-telling Covid researchers:

Steve Kirsch, Aug. 27, 2023

Vaccinated people are over 2X more likely to get COVID than the unvaccinated. Whoops!

We are told to get vaccinated to reduce the risk of being infected. But the numbers aren't working out for them. How can they explain this survey?

Steve Kirsch, Sept. 4, 2023

CDC Nursing Home Data: The vaccine increased the risk of the elderly dying from COVID

This "gold standard" data proves the "misinformation spreaders" were right. The COVID vaccine did the opposite of what the CDC promised you: it actually made things worse, not better.

Steve Kirsch, Sept. 7, 2023

US Nursing home data shows clearly that the COVID vaccines were a disaster for the elderly; they increased the risk of dying from COVID

I'm going to drill into more detail on this analysis of the CDC "gold standard" database which shows that the vaccines were a huge failure. There is no way to put a positive spin on this.

Steve Kirsch, Sept. 10, 2023

Major whoops: JAMA paper shows the COVID vaccines didn't help the elderly at all

A paper published in JAMA nearly a year ago which purports to demonstrate a benefit of the booster actually does no such thing. But those lacking critical thinking skills won't see the issues.

Steve Kirsch, Sept. 12, 2023

Further analysis of US Nursing Home data proves, once again, the vaccines made it more likely for the elderly to die

For every nursing home where the infection fatality rate (IFR) decreased post-COVID vaccine there were 6.5 nursing homes where it increased by a comparable amount. That's a disaster.

Steve Kirsch, Sept. 13, 2023

Do you know what "safe and effective" means according to the CDC? I'm going to tell you.

Safe means tested in 50 people and nobody died and only 8% needed professional medical attention. Effective means there is NO evidence whatsoever of a clinical benefit. Got it?

URGENT: the Centers for Disease Control just admitted the truth - the vast majority of people now hospitalized for Covid are mRNA jabbed

The strongest proof yet that the shots simply do not work against Omicron

Alex Berenson, Sept. 13, 2023

American mRNA fanatics and health bureaucrats just made their worst decision yet

The Centers for Disease Control is about to push a new round of Covid boosters on healthy teenagers and adults, even as the rest of the world admits defeat and gives up on the jabs.

Trump Knew the Lockdown Policies Wouldn't Work, But He Did Them Anyway

Ouch! This is just horrible. Republican voters, we can and must do better than Trump in 2024.

We don't need Lockdown Don or Lockdown Joe. We need to reduce Washington DC to very little of our lives, and we need to restore our country's cultural, moral, and spiritual integrity.

Folks, we need to get it together!

There is only Republican presidential candidate who stood against the Lockdown mania full-force in 2020.

His name is Governor Ron DeSantis!

Chinese Citizens Rising Up Against their Government

Look at the citizenry in the People's Republic of China!

They are rising up against the abusive COVID-19 policies imposed by the Chinese Communist Government:

And now I have to ask: what excuse does any American, any citizen anywhere else in the world have for not taking a stand against all of this abuse?

No one should tolerate such abject tyranny from their government.

No one should put up with such rampant abuse, and  if the Chinese can stand up to their autocratic regime, what excuse do you have?

CALL NOW: Tell Newsom to Veto Four Bad Bills

SaveCalifornia.com provides this solely for educational purposes and does not support or oppose candidates for public office.

Hi Arthur,

Here are your latest action steps in the war for moral values and against the unconstitutional New Communist Democrats and RINOs (Republicans In Name Only).

But first, some good news: Our attorney friends at Liberty Counsel have won relief for everyone in the U.S. Air Force who wrote a letter requesting religious accommodation to exempt themselves from forced "Covid vaccines." Like the August court victory for similarly-situated U.S. Marines, Air Force personnel have won their constitutional religious freedom to exercise their God-given medical freedom!

Call Newsom to veto 4 awful bills

Gavin Newsom idolizes abortion, "LGBTQIA+,” and environmental wackoism. But there are 4 awful bills he could veto, with your help.

Providing a chance for vetoes is Newsom's dream of running for U.S. president. Does he want the reputation of keeping Covid restrictions going longer than any other Democrat governor? He could veto 3 Covid tyranny bills and proclaim himself the "solution."

Newsom might also veto an anti-parental rights bill, SB 70, which eliminates parents' choices to either send their child to kindergarten or keep them home until first grade.

Remember, in 2014, Democrat Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed the same, very expensive mandatory kindergarten bill, saying: "..let parents determine what is best for their children, rather than mandate an entirely new grade level." So please call or email Newsom today!

Ban gasoline-powered vehicles? Not so fast

Gavin Newsom's announcement that, come 2035, no new gasoline-powered cars, trucks, or SUVs can be sold in California is not only illegal (and can be stopped by the right lawsuit), it's un-American (and can be stopped with the right bill in Congress).

Please add your voice of support to the Revoking Engine and Vehicle (REV) Requirements Act, in which Congress would repeal California’s Clean Air Act waiver that the Newsom administration uses to set its own emissions standards, including trying to ban gasoline-powered vehicles.

Advancing this good bill now will at least expose who is for or against the People. And either this year or next year, it could pass and be signed by a scared White House occupant. And if not then, with a Republican president in 2025 it could be signed and effectively stop Newsom's and other war-on-oil Democrats' nefarious plans for 2035.

TAKE ACTION: Simply call 202-225-3121 (Capitol switchboard) and email (find your U.S. representative) to demand "Don't jack up my costs of driving and don't tell me what vehicle to drive. Support the REV Act."

The REV Act is authored by Republican U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa, a strong Christian whose congressional district stretches from Grass Valley to the Oregon border.

More Winning: LAUSD Losing Students, Losing Money, Losing Parents, Losing Power to Indoctrinate and Harm

Loser Albert Carvalho of LAUSD
by way of Miami-Dade County, Florida

Working with MassResistance, I have been privileged to work with parents all over the United States. I even connected with a number of activists in Miama-Dade County, who had been fighting against their countywide school district earlier this year.

Miami-Dade County schools wanted to push all kinds of LGBT perversion in the children. They even wanted to replace Hispanic Heritage Month with LGBT History Month. Disgusting.

The parents also told me that their school district superintendent, Alberto Carvalho, was hired by LA Unified School District!

Wow, what a small world.

Things are not working out so well for the new hire in Downtown Los Angeles, either. Check out this report from EdSource:

Enrollment decline: LAUSD's Carvalho says families leaving the state or choosing to home-school

Where have all the students gone?

They have fled from the poisonous, decrepit, failed system that is government-run education in Los Angeles County. That's what!

California’s K-12 enrollment decline of more than 270,000 students since the pandemic began is largely attributable to people leaving the state, not enrolling children in transitional kindergarten or kindergarten, or deciding to home-school their children but failing to file the paperwork to account for them, the head of the state’s largest school district and other experts said Sunday.

The pandemic allowed parents to see what their children were REALLY learning in the classroom. Parents from all over Los Angeles County alone showed me all kinds of terrible lessons that the SJWs disguised as teachers were pushing on their kids.

The fact that learning was Zoomed into the home gave parents unprecedented access to learn what their children were taking in, and these revelations helped parents rise up against all kinds of perverse lessons and curricula, including Critical Racist Theory, Critical Perv Theory (LGBT, Queer, etc.)

“In Los Angeles, in a very, very obvious and evident way, the greatest loss was in (transitional) kindergarten and kindergarten students,” LA Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho told a gathering of education journalists.  “You have to really accept that parents made a decision, ‘I’m not going to send my kid to pre-k or kindergarten.'”

Notice how this report makes it seem as the parents' decision was unthinking, unfeeling, or arbitrary. The truth is that parents are taking into account the long-term needs of their children, and they don't want them to suffer in a pandemic-driven school system that puts the desires of government employees and politicians ahead of children and their parents.

Regardless of where the students ended up, their learning has been harmed, Stanford University education professor Thomas Dee said. Dee’s research described how the youngest students were most affected by not returning to school following Covid. His work was highlighted in a collaboration report that included EdSource, The New York Times and Big Local News, a data journalism project at Stanford.

Not sure what to think of this statement at first glance. How do academics measure real educational achievement nowadays? The metrics for assessing student performance in homeschools and home-school co-ops deserve more attention and a different kind of metric, I think, since it's about more than mere test scores.

“Enrollment data shows a disruption that students are experiencing, and those disruptions matter because research literature shows switching schools, particularly in a reactive manner, impacts development,” Dee said.

The disruptions are the fault of school districts and the administrators who shut students out of their education. Don't blame the parents!

And “missing out on early childhood educational experiences can be really consequential,” Dee added.

Kids are still missing out because in too many districts, they are still required to wear masks. Covering up a child's mouth impairs their speech and cognitive development. It's just so vile!

Across California, the number of students enrolled in the public school system dropped below 6 million this year for the first time in two decades. As districts navigated the sudden shift to virtual learning amid the pandemic, declines steepened as many families faced extra barriers, considered alternatives to the public school system or chose to delay enrollment for their youngest learners.

These barriers didn't come out of nowhere. These barriers are the result of selfish politicians and bureacrats--and teachers--who put their wants ahead of the needs of children. No, adult teachers do not need to wear masks, and NO, they have no right to demand that the students in their classrooms wear masks, either. They were perfectly capable of teaching without all the COVID-19 restrictions and regulations. A lot of greedy teachers unions and their enablers wanted to milk the government systems for as much taxpayer dollars as possible without having to work.

The enrollment declines, both in California and nationally, are going to lead to fiscal impacts and school closures in the years ahead, said Daniel Domenech, executive director of the American Association of School Administrators.

GOOD!

“You’re going to have to sell buildings when they become empty. You’re going to have to exit staff because you won’t need the number of teachers that you have,” Domenech said. “Parents didn’t want their children in school because they were afraid.”

GOOD! And they have only themselves to blame. This is some of the best news I have read yet, especially considering how difficult it is for parents to get pro-student responses from school districts, administrators, and teachers. They brought this mess on themselves, and they deserve to suffer from it.

But, he added, the impact of the pandemic on students is profound.

“The whole virtual learning experience was a fiasco because school districts were not prepared for virtual learning,” Domenech said. Nationally, there’s “a pulling away of students from the public school system because of the impact of Covid.” But he said it’s unclear how many of the students will return.

Virtual learning is that, virtual, i.e. not real. Children need constant contact and interaction with their teachers and peers to improve their learning and development.

The three men spoke Sunday afternoon at the national conference of the Education Writers Association in Orlando, Florida.

In Los Angeles, enrollment has been steadily declining for two decades. The district has 58% of the student population it had at its peak in the early 2000s, now at 430,000 students.

Los Angeles Unified is one of the worst school districts in the country. The learning outcomes are terrible, there is no accountability, teachers and administrators have a long record of ignoring, enabling, or even enacting abuse against students. The politics of the school board, the teachers union, the administrators, and the state legislature has created a hostile, untenable situation in which constant rancor is the norm, not the exception. Worst of all, the needs of the students is completely ignored.

But data shows those students did not migrate in large numbers to private and charter schools, the superintendent said. Charter schools in the district also had an enrollment decline of about 2% during the pandemic, he said.

Charter schools are going woke, too, and parents are breaking away from that mess, too. Charter schools alone are not the solution. School choice will impose competition on all schools, certainly, but most importantly curricular integrity and

LAUSD’s enrollment decline has only increased since the pandemic hit. The district lost “9,000 kindergartners when the pandemic hit,” Carvalho said. “That’s a huge, a huge number.”

The district has hired people to go into neighborhoods to try to track down missing students and interview their parents, he said, describing a massive push in which he and other top administrators have joined others to try to keep track of 30 children each.

If this does not sound creepy to you, I don't know what to tell you. The school district spent more money that it does not have to hire people to "track down missing students." TRACK DOWN?! What is this? Now school districts are extending their police-state machinations outside of the classroom and pressuring/bullying parents! We all know where this is leading: these observers, "trackers" are going to find out whether the parents are providing any kind of education. If they think that the level of education does not meet their "standards," the CPS can come in and take the kids away. This is just awful.

Every parent who gets a visit from these trackers must slam their door in their faces and tell them to get off  their property.

In some cases, he said, district workers have found that undocumented families left the country during the pandemic “because there was no opportunity to work. The kids left with the families. And they left by the thousands.”

More good news! Illegal aliens are leaving the country. LAUSD worked so hard to attract illegal aliens, because for that corrupt district, it was never about love of California, the county, or the country; it was all about raking in more taxpayer dollars based on the attendance disbursements. This is beyond disgusting.

In other instances, he added, families left California for other states such as Florida “because of political ideology and lower taxes. If they had the means, parents made decisions.”

There! Finally someone has the guts to put in print that California sucks, and the Democrats own these failures.

They went to another state where “their child could go to a school that was more aligned with their own beliefs in terms of medicine and in terms of schooling.”

And let's not forget the fact that Florida opened up their schools throughout the entire season. They refused to shut down the schools, and they banned school districts from forcing students to wear masks. Best of all, Florida weathered the COVID-19 spread with little trouble and enjoyed comparable, if not lower rates of infection compared to hard-core lockdown blue states.

Perhaps the biggest problem in figuring out the decline student by student is the lag in parents letting the district officially know they have decided to home-school their children by filing an affidavit with school officials.

“Parents are taking their time to file the documents,” he said.

The parents should be more churlish. They should not have to tell anyone anything. Of course, the problem for the last seventy-plus years is that school districts have their parens patriae role, i.e. they can assert a limited parental role when the child is outside of the classroom.

Statewide, during the height of the pandemic, a record 35,000 families had filed an affidavit with the state to open a private home school, but the numbers dropped the following year, according to California Department of Education records. That level is still much higher than the 15,000 affidavits filed in the years prior to the pandemic.

Let's hope for more private schools popping up all over the state of California. No one in their right mind should want their children to suffer in a decrepit, underperforming government school.

According to LAUSD’s enrollment analysis conducted as a part of Carvalho’s 100-day plan that launched when he became superintendent in February, LAUSD has seen the most significant declines by grade at the elementary school level and the most significant declines geographically among west and central local districts over the last six years.

The spread of enrollment decline is really good news, because it goes to show that this decline is not just in supposedly white neighborhoods. Central sections of Los Angeles Unified have predominantly black and Hispanic populations. Parents care about their kids, period. It has nothing to do with skin color or income level. Parents care about their kids, and no amount of cultural marxist wrangling can change that.

The district has also noticed that the largest drops have been among middle-class families, but that analysis does not take into account the students who left to attend the City of Angeles virtual school during the pandemic.

WOW! Notice the journalistic sleight of hand here. More like a "slight," indeed, insulting poor and working-class families, as if they do not care about their children at all. Most of the kids who were the most affected by the virtual learning were no doubt poor and working class families, since it was much harder for them to have one parent at home to supervise the children during their in-home Zoom lessons.

LAUSD doesn’t consider private schools a large factor in its enrollment decline because local private school enrollment has also been on the decline for the past few years, dropping more than 6% since 2017. Reflective of the national trend, homeschooling in the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim metropolitan statistical area doubled to 8% in 2020.

Homeschooling has become so much easier because of the wide availability of resources via the Internet, social media, and trading applications online. What was a difficult transition for many parents twenty or even ten years ago has become so much easier because of the wide array of curricular choices and programs online and via homeschool co-ops.

Final Reflection

There is so much winning following the steady implosion of government school enrollment around the country. For decades, the school districts have been failing students and insulting parents. Bureaucrats, administrators, and politicians have put the demands of special interests ahead of the needs of children. The COVID-19 pandemic pushed parents past the breaking point,  and they finally rose up demanding the best for their kids. They do the right thing to the degree that they can homeschool their children AND deprive the local school districts of any further funding.

LA County Backs Off from Mask Mandate Because of We the People

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors was going to reinstate the indoor mask mandate throughout the county. They have the supposed authority to do this only because Gov. Hairgel (Gavin Newsom) insists on prolonging the statewide state of emergency. It is an absolute travesty, a disregar for the rule of law in its entirety.

There is no state of emergency. There is a state of political posturing and tyranny, certainly.

Of course, Californians are getting bigger, better, stronger at defying these outrageous mandates. We are not going to comply with this nonsense!

I wrote a nasty letter to the LA County Board of Supervisors, making it crystal clear that LA County residents are not going to go along with yet another mask mandate. Businesses throughout the county signalled their refusal to comply. But best of all, actual city governments took a firm stance against this abusive power trip. Long Beach and Pasadena have their own health departments, so they can do whatever they want, anyway, and they made it clear that they were not going to reinstate any mandates.

Then Beverly Hills declared in a special session earlier this week that they would not enforce any indoor mandate. Reminder: Beverly Hills is not exactly a conservative stronghold, and yet the entire city council went on record opposing enforcement of any further mandates.

Then Manhattan Beach signaled that they would not comply, and El Segundo also stated that they would not enforce any further mandates.

Even my home city of Torrance has initiated an agenda item to reject any future mandates from the County of Los Angeles AND issue a Resolution of No Confidence in LA County Health Director Barbara Ferrer.

Then, on Thursday, July 28th, the County declared that they would not reinstate the mask mandate!

HOW ABOUT THAT?

The County is not being honest with the public, when they claim that they are backing away from a reinstated mandate because of increased COVID-19 hospitalizations. They claimed that the numbers were climbing, and the chances of another COVID-19 spread were so great, that they would have to reinstate a mandate.

But then, all of a sudden, there is no health problem? The numbers are now, all of a sudden, trending down? No, the fact is that the county knew that they could not scare or indoctrinate the county public to go along with another mandate.

Imagine what would have happened if all the cities had pushed back two years ago?

MassResistance Interviews Famed Pastor Art Pawlowski of Canada

Stunning MassResistance interview with Canadian Pastor Artur Pawlowski – internationally known pastor beaten and imprisoned by Canadian authorities

Arrested, fined, and jailed for speaking against government tyranny, and for “illegally” holding church services. Charged with violation of Canada’s infamous Covid restrictions and recent “emergency” acts.

U.S. Senator and others express outrage against his treatment

A long-time friend of MassResistance

VIDEO: MassResistance interviews Pastor Artur Pawlowski

This is one of the most insightful political interviews you will hear. During a visit to the U.S. last summer, Pastor Artur Pawlowski (left) described to Arthur Schaper of MassResistance what is happening in Canada – and to him. Since that interview, events have taken an even more sinister turn. He is now in prison in solitary confinement in Canada.

Pastor Artur Pawlowski is not your run-of-the-mill Canadian. He was born and raised in communist Poland and immigrated to Canada as a young man. For many years he has been the pastor of a church in Calgary, Alberta. He is known as an uncompromising Christian who feeds the poor and defends the God-given rights of the Canadian people. He has attracted the ire of the Canadian authorities for his ongoing exposé of totalitarianism as poison to the soul.

Pastor Artur first met up with MassResistance in 2018. In June that year, MassResistance was on the scene to document Pastor Artur joined local activists and MassResistance fiery speech outside of the Calgary Police Station where local activists had come to support pro-family activist Bill Whatcott (who was being taken into custody on the Orwellian charge of “anti-LGBT hate speech”). Later that year Pastor Artur hosted our Canada MassResistance chapter at a conference in his church. Since then, he worked with us to stop a ban on “reparative therapy” in Calgary and similar issues across Canada.

Pastor Art gained international notoriety in 2021 when a video of him throwing a group of police out of his church went viral. They had come to halt a Passover service over clearly unconstitutional Covid rules. He also continued to feed the poor and homeless in violation of the Covid mandate. He was later arrested, imprisoned, and fined for keeping his church open and continuing to feed and minister to the poor through his street church. When released, the judge ordered Pastor Artur to include the government’s Covid narrative in his future church sermons! That totalitarian order was later thrown out after widespread outrage.

The latest international outrage

Pastor Art’s persecution by the government has continued. The latest outrage came in early February. He delivered a forceful speech and held a church service for the truckers who were protesting vaccine mandates and Covid restrictions with a blockade at the Coutts, Alberta border. In his speech, he told the truckers to “hold the line” and continue peacefully protesting.

The following day, police raided his home and arrested him. He was charged with “interfering with critical infrastructure” and “aiding and abetting mischief” under the Critical Infrastructure Defence Act.

According to reports, he’s the only person ever arrested under that act! Rebel News noted on Feb. 28:

[T]hree additional charges stemming from incidents over the previous two years were piled onto the existing, and now nearly innumerable, charges that Artur is facing in what is quite possibly the most glaring legal witch hunt in Canadian History… Sadly, the courts are being wielded as political weapons instead of doing their jobs, which is to uphold the laws of the land, first and foremost being the Criminal Code of Canada and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Here in the US, American Spectator observed:

Like a verdict from a Soviet show trial, the judge asserted out of thin air that Pawlowski’s blameless exercise of free speech “contributed to enormous economic harm to the local, provincial and national economy and substantial community harm to ordinary Canadians.”

Pastor Artur has been denied bail and held in solitary confinement since then at the Calgary Remand Centre, a holding prison for dangerous and violent criminals. (Largely ignored by Canada’s mainstream media, this incident was reported Canada’s alternative Rebel News.) And making matters worse, on March 2 his brother Dawid Pawlowski was arrested for charges that are yet unclear!

U.S. Senator makes statement

This has shocked and outraged many people in the United States who fear that the Canadian government’s extremist approach to dissenters and Christians could come here. On Feb. 27, U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) was asked for his reaction to Pastor Pawlowski’s arrest. He said,

The United States keeps a designation of nations that are religious liberty violators. I've called for Canada to be put on that list. And I think we should consider all of the options that are available for that.

Pastor Artur interviewed by MassResistance

Last June, Pastor Artur visited the U.S. for several weeks to warn Americans of the danger of creeping totalitarianism. He met with General Michael Flynn, Senator Josh Hawley, former Trump advisors, and various DC political leaders. He spoke at many churches and political gatherings. On June 26 when in Los Angeles, he sat down with Arthur Schaper of MassResistance.

It was a fascinating interview. (See video at top.) Pastor Artur talks about what has happened to him personally, what is happening to Canada, how things are changing for the worse, and why the world needs to pay attention.

He reminds us: The truth is like a pillar; it can stand on its own. But the lie needs to be supported by more lies, misinformation, disinformation, and tyranny – tyranny and fear –because it cannot stand on its own.

A few of Artur’s points in the interview:

  • The leftists attacking us constantly have no substance; they don’t have any reasoning. So the only thing they can do is hate. Those people who talk about tolerance are the most intolerant people on earth.
  • We are not dealing with officials who respect law and order. We are dealing with gangsters in uniform – like the Nazis and the Communists – who do whatever they want. The tactics they are using now are virtually identical to the tactics used back then [under the Nazis and Soviets].
  • Why are Canadian people so “sheep-like”? The Canadian government has been implementing this repression for a very long time. They have been attacking the minds of the people for decades. The tactics are just like with the Hitler Youth: brainwashing; taking over universities and schools; taking over mainstream media; and the political arena. What they accomplished is to create an apathetic, uninterested, selfish, self-centered generation of people that don’t really know what’s going on. It’s easier to do this in Canada because we have a smaller population with many different ethnicities, and are more naturally divided.
  • When my brother and I were recently imprisoned, the Calgary police were particularly brutal to us. We were in put in solitary confinement. We had to sleep on a concrete floor. Every half hour they would wake us up so we couldn’t get sleep. We were often stripped naked and searched. They would mock Christianity. They would steal my belongings and throw them into the garbage in front of me. They threw me against the wall, and said they would charge me with assaulting them. When we finally went to court they put chains on our legs.

Pastor Artur Pawlowski is an inspiration to all of us. If more clergymen were as principled, bold, and fearless as he, this would be a much better world.
