After another tally of the final votes in the Hawkeye State, Rick Santorum has been declared the winner by a 34 vote lead.
NBC now refuses to endorse any winner for the caucuses.
There is one sure loser: Iowa.
The first contest in the primary has been under attack for some time. From the blanketing of political ads and the inundation of political rallies, more Americans are convinced that a predominantly white, rural, mid-Western state has no business casting the first votes for the eventual Presidential nominee for either party.
It's time that party leaders in the Democratic Party and for the GOP cast off this relic of party politics from the late 1970's. The country ought to endorse regional primaries in rotating fashion following every election cycle. That way, no one region can claim preeminence or undue influence in the election process.
