There is a fight for the soul of the Christian Church.
These divisions would be eclipsed if every person received and relished in the presence and Love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
There is no one human authority which human beings are bound to respect on this earth in matters spiritual.
Jesus even decried those who would call themselves "Master", "Rabbi", or "Father", as we are all one in the Body of Christ.
The party spirit that dominates in many churches stresses identity in the world.
We need stress only one identity -- who we are in Christ. Then divisions would cease.
Paul attacked this spirit of division early, when he wrote his first epistle to the Corinthian Church:
For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
"Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
"Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
"I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
"Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
"And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
"For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. (1 Corinthians 1: 11-17)
"Christ is not divided" -- there is no division in the one Body of Christ. We were redeemed by His death, we are risen again with Him by His resurrection, we are one with Him through the Holy Spirit.
There is one gospel, that by grace through faith we are saved (Cf Ephesians 2:6). Any denomination which adds baptism in water, or attendance at mass, or allegiance to a physical building or congregation is adding to the perfect, Finished Work of Jesus Christ -- let such be anathema (cf 1 Corinthians 16:22)
If people simply respected the Word of God, there would be no arguments about homosexual conduct, abortion, the rule of law and society for a believer. Because so many have lost sight of the original mission of the Body of Christ, which is to preach the Gospel, churches have been pulled into charities, distractions, and empty proposals, all of which have promoted a man-centered mission, which has fed the watering down and limitation of the Word of God.
Jesus Christ is simple (cf 2 Corinthians 11:3), but it takes a "good" theologian to screw it up! If the Body of believers simply paid attention to the power and wonder and Finished Work of Jesus Christ, then confusions would cease, divisions would resolve, and those who do not believe in Him, the one and only Son of God who sits ever more at the right hand of the Father, would be purged or come to faith!
