Defiance is an Actionable Cause for Suspension
Teachers do not need any more micromanaging from the state legislature regarding whether they can send a student out of their classes or not.
Disruptive students prevent others from learning. Disruptive students come from homes were parents area either unavailable or uncommitted to meeting the disciplinary needs of their children. We cannot keep forcing teachers to bear the brunt of unruly students, many of whom have no incentive to behave, since parents do not hold them accountable, and administrators are more troubled by the threat of lawsuits than actually rearing up young people to behave themselves, respect authority, and channel their capacities to make the most of their lives.
Teachers do not need one more set of bureaucratic hurdles which preempt them from running their classes appropriately. School districts need more flexibility when dealing with unruly students, including the power to expel students with greater facility and rapidity. Students have a right to learn, but if they forfeit that right, they do not have permission to prevent others from learning.
Students who do not heed instruction fail themselves. They do not have a right to prevent others from learning, too.
