It was welcome news that Congresswoman Michele Bachmann suspended her campaign after her abysmal last place finish (Huntsman's handful of staunch supports do not count, since Huntsman chose to bypass Iowa).
I still think that she would make a great majority leader or even House Speaker!
Now, I wish that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich would take the hint and drop out, too.
He was another one-month surge wonder from a GOP electorate still lukewarm to the lukewarm moderate-cum-conservative Mitt Romney.
Newt Gingrich pulled a paltry fourth place in Iowa, after having hovered as the front-runner one month before the caucuses. He is a flash-in-the-pan Washington insider hack who has played both sides of the Beltway to line his pockets and dine with the finest.
He is not for anybody, and I do not care how many conservative pundits have sung his praises for enacting welfare reform and a balanced budget.
I do not hold his serial infidelity to his wives against him as much as his serial fidelity to his own interests at the expense of limited government, constitutional rule, and the American people.
He is not fit to be president, he was never fit to be a presidential candidate, and after four tortured years as House Speaker, he demonstrated that he was not fit to be a political leader.
