James Woods is right.

The Baby Boomer generation, with their attention to free sex, love, and no responsibilities, has crashed into the present and ruined the future for the country.

Of course, it's not fair to blame every Baby Boomer. Many of them are stepping up and fighting the good fight against the moral rot pervasive in our country.

For the rest of this post, I will refer to them as Hippie Boomers.

And those Hippie Boomers, to this day, are proud of the liberalism which they forced into the country. 

I joined a Braver Angels event in Venice a few months ago. At this gathering, a group of red angels (conservatives?) join with the blue angels (liberals) to discuss how to come together and restore civility in the country, despite all the polarization breaking out in the country.

What struck me as interesting, though, was that one couple, an elderly couple of about 70 years old, were talking about how the country has embraced legal abortion and same-sex marriage all because of the efforts of the Baby Boomers. The two gave the impression that these changes for the worse were actually good things for the country.

After sixty years of steady moral degradation in the United States, we can clearly state otherwise. Treating children as commodities or annoyances to reject has harmed fellow feeling in this country. Exalting immediate gratification and moral license has created more harm, more division in this country, since people don't care about other people, and they do not consider the consequences of their actions nor the needs of the next generation.

Furthermore, those Hippie Boomers expected more from the country, more from the government without considering who was going to pay for it. They didn't care at all, since they don't care about anyone else!

Hence the backlash, hence the polarization in the country. That couple was also hostile to religion. They clearly did not like the notion that there is a moral order which they have to answer to, one which they cannot ignore.

The selfish entitlement of the Hippie Boomers has caused nothing but trouble for this country, and why so many subsequent generations see nothing but struggle going forward.

Trump Doesn't Get It — DeSantis Does

The Night before Election Day 2016, I wrote "What I Like About Trump, and Why You need to Vote for Him." I mentioned that he was the street brawler we needed, not the professional we wanted, who would clean house, not just keep house. He did an estimable job. But, unfortunately, the 2020 election was stolen, and Joe Biden is a brazen usurper. 

If Trump wants the 2024 nomination, though, he must learn from Odysseus in Homer's eponymous epic poem. Sure, the suitors took him for dead and took over his home. Odysseus was the rightful king of the castle, but he had to fight for it. Instead of staging an epic comeback, Trump has turned into a cantankerous deposed monarch who thinks we should restore him to the throne. That's not how politics works. Andrew Jackson was denied the Presidency in 1824 due to a Corrupt Bargain in the House of Representatives. Old Hickory didn't pout but plotted, planned, and won the Presidency in 1828.  

Trump needs a primary. I want a knock-down drag-out fight for the GOP brass ring. And right now, Trump is not earning it. Instead, he reminds me of former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie past his first-term prime: lots of bluster, no muster. 

Trump still surrounds himself with bad people. They told him to endorse Congressman Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) in a fraught primary when the opponent was the real deal. Gonzales is now talking up open borders and voted against the House Rules package effected by the dedicated MAGA populists in Congress. 

Trump lined up behind McCarthy for Speaker and expected everyone to follow. The next generation of America First politicians knows you never settle but fight for more. Trump inaugurated a movement, but now the movement is moving past him. Nothing showed this more than conservative Congressman Matt Rosendale (R-Montana) dismissing the former President's plea by phone on the floor of the House. Conversely, Trump refused to weigh in on the RNC Chairmanship, the more consequential race. DeSantis did, even if his candidate lost. Leadership means fighting for what's right, even if the outcome is likely lost. 

Trump tells South Carolina: "Let's go after the Deep State, the Democrats, and the RINOs." And standing next to him during that rant? Lindsey Graham, the biggest Deep State Democrat RINO in the country. Former Governor Sarah Palin tells DeSantis to "wait your turn." It sounds like McCain-Establishment Kool-Aid talk to me. Oh Yeah! She abandoned her governorship, couldn't get elected to Congress, but wants to play king-maker? Hit the road, Mammy Grizzly. 

Politics is not the Art of the Deal; it's the Art of "I Win, and You Lose." Trump still doesn't get this, either. DeSantis does. DeSantis has accomplished the most aggressive, radically right-wing agenda of any governor: a pro-growth, low-tax agenda and bear-hugging culture wars. He has beaten down Big Business, Big Pharma, Big Labor, and Big Academia. As a result, the little guy in Florida feels like "The Man," and they have DeSantis' leadership to thank for that. 

He outlawed sanctuary cities with more vigorous enforcement. He signed into law E-Verify mandates. He has taken on the Florida teacher's unions with gusto, pushing for more limits on their political power. He has been pressing for gun freedoms in a state gun-shy on the Second Amendment for the last twenty years. His Parents Rights in Education Bill has inspired similar reforms across the country. DeSantis is a conservative, and even Democratic voters support him!  

His election reforms are impeccable, too. Trump tweeted and whined about voter fraud during Election 2020. As soon as he was elected, DeSantis removed the corrupt Registrar of Voters in Palm Beach County, then cleaned up the election laws. Despite banning ballot trafficking and universal mass mail-in voting, DeSantis wisely recognizes that if "legal cheating" exists in your state, USE IT. Only recently has Trump joined this bandwagon. Trump is playing catch-up, while DeSantis has already caught on. 

Politics requires a keen sense of what works, what's possible, and knowing what is going on. At this point, one wonders if Trump is paying attention. It's 2023, not 2015. Riding an escalator doesn't impress anymore. I want results, and DeSantis is outdoing Trump on many fronts.  

Trump still pushes the vaccine. DeSantis has said, "Stop!" Trump locked down the country, but DeSantis reversed course within two weeks, and Florida enjoyed unprecedented freedom with little COVID-19 backlash. Leadership changes when things aren't working and learns from circumstances. DeSantis has led on stopping the sex mutilation of minors and LGBT indoctrination, too, and opposed the DIS-Respect for Marriage Act. Trump went all in on this anti-family folly, then celebrated with the Log Cabin Republicans at Mar-a-Lago, rebuffing the evangelical voters who got him elected. 

President Trump has become all talk, selling NFTs. DeSantis is walking the walk, guaranteed. He is smarter with the media, too. Trump slugged at the media but then got dirty with them. DeSantis sets up press conferences with supporters. He silences biased reporters with quick quips while humiliating Joe Biden. DeSantis doesn't rush to corporate media's camera for attention. He rolls them, then steamrolls them. 

From Congress to the Governor's mansion, DeSantis has been on a mission to accomplish. Today's populist Republican party grassroots are tired of politicians who want us to feel good; no more RINOs who say the right things on Fox News, then screw us over with betrayals and broken promises. DeSantis promises and keeps delivering. We need a president who wins, not just retains what little remains once Biden is gone. 

Trump was a street brawler, but DeSantis is a UFC fighter: sleeker, less flashy, but executes the win quicker, faster, and more robust. We need results, not rhetoric. I don't want rallies; I want to win elections and the culture war. I am not interested in the establishment (and yes, Trump is turning into their latest successor). DeSantis looks like the man to be President and the man to beat.

American Renewal Project: Why is the Family Now an Enemy?

 

A leading Christian apologist and cultural theologian, Joseph Boot is the founding pastor of Westminster Chapel in Toronto and the founder of the Ezra Institute for Contemporary Christianity. Originally from Great Britain, he served with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries for 7 years as an apologist based in England and Canada.   “All cultural and political thought inescapably rests on a given foundation - one religious worldview or another is the frequently unacknowledged basis for all forms of political philosophy,” writes Dr. Boot. “Ultimately, from the scriptural standpoint, either Christ and His Word-revelation provides that foundation, or else the thinking of elites and their revolutionary ideals will assume the role of biblical authority.”1   There is no such thing as ‘neutrality’ in religion, because to reject God is every bit of a religious decision as it is to believe in and embrace God. The reality in America is that either secularism or Christianity - that is, the values/ideology/worldview of one or the other - is going to reign supreme in the public square. If Christians stay home on Election Day - as they unfortunately often do - then secularists will permeate culture by electing their candidates, thereby creating and passing godless legislation, and codifying into law profane values where culture becomes the public manifestation of secular religion.2   The sad fact is that American Christendom throughout the last 100 years abandoned the public square, despite such disregard being in disobedience to Jesus’ ekklesia Kingdom assignment from Matthew 16:18. This neglectful failure to comply has allowed secularism to gain control of the culture, enabling secularists to manipulate and monopolize the cultural levers of power and influence across the nation.   Dr. Boot acknowledges that nothing good could come from this: “If the true foundation of wisdom is missing, if the principal part of knowledge is neglected, then any knowledge structure built upon it is inherently unstable.”3   By making religious secularism America’s official religion in the mid-20th century, the Warren Court [1953-1969] elevated the State to divine status. Religious secularism bows to and abides by the State, while ignoring or rejecting Jehovah God. If American Christendom had maintained its involvement in the public square, the State’s self-serving aggrandizement into a godlike standing of worship and adulation could have been channeled in a direction subservient to God.   A good number of U.S. Supreme Court decisions since the 1960s have aided the State to claim its supposed supremacy over God :   Removal of prayer to Jehovah God from public education in 1962 [Engel v. Vitale]. Removal of the Bible - after 300 years of America’s meteoric rise - from public schools in 1963 [Abington School District v. Schempp]. Fabrication of the constitutional ‘right’ to kill unborn babies in 1973 [Roe v. Wade]. Removal of the Ten Commandments from public schools, courthouses, and government buildings in 1980 [Stone v. Graham]. Constitutional prevarication to exalt, normalize, and codify into law homosexual intercourse and same-sex marriage in 2015 [Obergefell v. Hodges]. Glorification and ‘special rights’ for homosexuals and transgenders in 2020 [Bostock v. Clayton County].   In Obergefell v. Hodges and Bostock v. Clayton County, homosexual intercourse and marriage was exalted and inflated by the U.S. Supreme Court as kosher and legitimate, notwithstanding or perhaps in willful defiance of its Scriptural denunciation as an abomination and wrongdoing. Justices decree by edict as good what God calls evil, thereby passing judgment upon God as they instruct Him and the nation to submit to their prescriptions laid down in law. Those commandments amount to radical idolatry.   With that as background, the Italian politician and journalist Giorgia Meloni [born 1977] is poised to make history by becoming Italy’s first female Prime Minister. The Wall Street Journal wrote of Meloni’s “more-than-hawkish stance on border security, [her] long espoused tough position on abortion, as well as traditional views on family and transgender issues.”4 As a long-awaited blessing and frontal assault on globalism, liberalism, and secularism, we might add.    The Left rushed in instantly to brand Prime Minister-Elect Meloni as “the most far-right government since World War II.” Some of the far-left news outlets even had no qualms about implying a guilty-by-association link to Benito Mussolini, the Italian founder and leader of the National Fascist Party. Tarred with the same brush!   The clash of worldviews will be quite obvious if we listen to what Prime Minister-Elect Giorgia Meloni has to say.

“This is about what we are doing here today. Why is the family an enemy? Why is the family so frightening? There is a single answer to all these questions. Because it defines us. Because it is our identity. Because everything that defines us is now an enemy for those who would like us to no longer have an identity and simply be perfect consumer slaves.   “And so they attack national identity, they attack religious identity, they attack gender identity, they attack family identity. I can’t define myself as Italian, Christian, woman, mother ... No. I must be citizen x, gender x, parent 1, parent 2. I must be a number.   “Because when I am a number, when I no longer have an identity or roots, then I will be the perfect slave at the mercy of financial speculators: the perfect consumer. That’s the reason why ... that’s why we inspire so much fear. That’s why this event inspires so much fear because we do not want to be [just] numbers.   “We will defend the value of the human being ... of every single human being. Because each of us has a unique genetic code that is unrepeatable. And, like it or not, that is sacred. We will defend it, we will defend God, country, and family. Those things that disgust [these] people so much.   “We will defend our freedom because we will never be slaves and simple consumers at the mercy of financial speculators, that is our mission, [and] that is why I came here today.   “Chesterton wrote more than a century ago, ‘Fires will be kindled to testify that two and two make four. Swords will be drawn to prove that leaves are green in summer.’ The time has arrived, we are ready. Grazie [thank you].”   When was the last time that an American politician so perfectly highlighted the all mighty secular powers American Christendom is up against? President Ronald Reagan, perhaps, some 40 years ago?   As to bringing the revolt closer to home, historian William J. Federer spoke at our Missouri pastors’ luncheon last week. He noted how President Franklin D. Roosevelt responded to the Nazi assault on Christian civilization in the mid-20th century by passing out Gideon New Testaments and Psalms to each WW II U.S. soldier.   Federer argues that the ideological Left is now demanding a change of the definition of ‘patriotism’, replacing it with the more sinister sounding ‘nationalism’. By contrast, however, ‘nationalism’ in America entails preserving the nation, guaranteeing that every citizen has God-given rights and allowing each individual the freedom to determine his or her own destiny. We might formulate it as Christian citizenship.   The Left has instituted totalitarianism aka absolutism in America, particularly in its despotic Covid censorship and its all-out assault on and abuse of First Amendment rights. The latter includes the denial of human rights and the intensification of killing preborn babies, the collusion with cultural Marxism’s prominence in pitting race against race in America, and the compulsive obsession with their version of ‘diversity’ and ‘tolerance’.   Enough is enough. Let’s pray that Prime Minister-Elect Giorgia Meloni represents a step forward for freedom, and that she will be a Rahab taking God’s side against the profane culture of secularism.   We continue to pray as Gideons and Rahabs are beginning to stand.   David Lane American Renewal Project

David Hadley for CAGOP Chairman? (No Thank You)

I can't agree to this one.

I didn't want David Hadley to run for Governor, and I do not want him to be the next chairman of the California Republican Party.

Yet he was just named the Vice-Chair, and it looks as though there is little to nothing that can be done about it ... for now.

Former legislator David Hadley was unanimously appointed vice chairman of the California Republican Party on Tuesday by its board of directors. The move eases the path for the Manhattan Beach resident to become the party’s next leader once current Chairman Jim Brulte’s term ends in February.

Someone had to take the #2 spot, since Kristen Olsen resigned in disgrace, unwilling to own up to the fact that she and Chad Mayes engaged in an adulterous affair, and then pushed a corrupt cap-and-trade deal that will bankrupt the state of California.

Hadley, who ran for governor earlier this year before dropping out of the race after two weeks, served one term in the state Assembly representing much of the South Bay.

Is this the best we can do? He served one term--and I am glad that he did for the most part.

But within two weeks of running for Governor, he backed out. Not great forethought right then and there. All of this falls back on the fact that he isn't paying attention to the grassroots.

The 53-year-old businessman is a social moderate and fiscal conservative who has ties to prominent donors, relationships that could prove vital if next year’s chairman’s race is contested, and should he be elected leader of the state party.

The New Majority, better known as "The New Permanent Minority" are a bunch of rich crumb-bums who can't make it in larger political circles, so they are going along with doing a middling job at ruining the California Republican Party.

But hey! They will still get invited to all the Kool Kidz' Parties, right?

But Hadley will likely face some backlash from state GOP activists because he did not support the Republican Party’s nominee, Donald Trump, in the 2016 presidential election, and has shown a willingness to break from party orthodoxy on issues including renewable energy, a reflection of voters’ views in his district.

LIKELY? No--it's a certainty!

This guy did not support our President. It was naked political interest to reject Trump when he was running for re-election in 2016. Lots of Republicans in the South Bay told me that they were not going to support Hadley because he had turned on Trump. On top of that, some potential volunteers didn't bother to turn out. The Republican Women Federated in Palos Verdes declined to support Hadley, either.

I remember that Young Kim had a much larger campaign field office for volunteers than David Hadley, too, that year. Pretty sad, all around. Do we really want a leader at the head of the California Republican Party who has spent little time fighting for things that matter?

How about fighting at all? He doesn't fight! He didn't support Trump.

He is too liberal, but more importantly too accommodationist for me.

Attempts to reach Hadley for comment Tuesday evening were unsuccessful.

Hadley replaces Kristin Olsen, who cited “personal and professional reasons” when she stepped down from the post in October.

How about the fact that she was a RINO sellout more invested in making herself rich and powerful as opposed to doing what is best for the California Republican Party and the state as a whole?

Brulte, a powerful former legislative leader, is the longest serving chairman in state party history. He was first elected to the post in 2013 at a time when the party was in disarray and in massive debt, and is widely credited with turning around the organization’s finances.

True, but that all comes down to getting big money from Charles Munger Jr., who doesn't seem interested in doling out anymore money.

He was reelected in 2015. The party’s bylaws were then changed, allowing him to run two more times. He was reelected in 2017, but has announced he will not seek another two-year term in 2019.

Eve when the state party changed the rules, Brulte doesn't want to do this anymore.

I don't blame him. Who in their right mind wants to lead a fractious coalition that has done little to nothing for most elected members? Most of the elected officials do better running their own campaigns, reaching out to different donors to get by.

At this point, who really wants the job? At all?!

We can do better than Hadley, though. Much better.

The biggest problem for me? All the "RINO" New Majority Money is behind.

This is not going to help our efforts. There is nothing wrong with having money, with making money. The problem is that some of the monied interests in the state of California

A major announcement will break on August 10th about another candidate running for Chairman of the California Republican Party. Another candidate will be announcing his (or her!) interest in the position.

Will Populist Trump Turn into a Schwarzenegger Squish?

I love our president, Donald Trump. He exceeds my expectations, and mine have never been watered down to suit a candidate I did not want. A progressive here in California mocked me for saying “I love President Trump.” She claimed that I idolized the president. What can I say? Trump shows a class and a dignity for our armed men and women, especially veterans. This kind of heart-felt patriotism is no joke, not an act. The latest video going viral shows President Trump stopping to pick up the cap which fell from the marine standing guard next to Air Force One. I don’t recall President Bush or Obama taking a similar stride. Of course, Obama was much worse to our military, saying and doing nothing while veteran deaths and suicides skyrocketed during his tenure.

Also, for all her unjust mockery, that progressive loves Bernie Sanders, and the rest of the left-wing cabal taking over California has painted murals and banners dedicated to Bernie and his Revolution. Of course, they get awfully silent when I mention that he and his wife are under investigation for bank fraud. Sure, the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer—but that’s only happening in Democratically-dominated states and socialist countries, the same political climes where Bernie’s brand of Bolshevism thrives.

Then there’s President Trump. He stopped the irreversible slide of our nation into abject liberalism unhinged, with totalitarian dictator Crooked Hillary at the helm. He has done more for our veterans in six months than the previous two administrations. Unreal, but true. When was the last time anyone of us read in the press that 500 crooked or incompetent VA employees were fired? Finally, someone from the outside has gone inside to shake things up.

I must admit and I believe that many still fear that this populist president will sour on us. As a Californian, I was so leery of the Trump Presidency. After all, it was House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (another Californian, this time from Bakersfield) who suggested to Joe Scarborough and Co. that Trump’s nomination and campaign reminded him of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s populist bid for governor of California in 2003. That remark offered me even less assurance about a future Trump Presidency.

A little background to clear up the foreground and confirm my trust in President Trump.

In 2003, Californians were mad. Energy markets had overcharged us for electricity. Democratic Governor Gray Davis tripled the car tax. The state legislature passed a bill allowing illegal aliens to get driver’s licenses. California was going bankrupt, unable to balance the books. The uproar from across the state not only pushed for repeal of the driver’s license law, but erupted into a full-blown recall campaign.

I voted for McClintock, convinced that Schwarzenegger was too liberal. He dodged difficult questions, and refused to participate in any debates until the very end. The best line? “Arianna, I have the perfect role for you in my next movie!” Indeed, he had starred in another iteration of the Terminator franchise, in which he trashed a female cyborg assassin, by shoving her metallic head into a toilet bowl. I still laugh at the line to this day.

Sadly, Schwarzenegger’s administration was no laughing matter. A moderate outsider who had run on a campaign reminiscent of making California great again, he did some good during the first part of his first tenure. He repealed the car tax. He called the Democrats “Girlie men.” He pushed an outstanding set of initiatives to beat down Big Labor and beef up educational accountability.

Those reforms failed, and his resolve as a leader fizzled. During his second term, he morphed into an accommodationist liberal puppet. He bowed down to the California Teachers Association. He ignored conservative controversies. He signed off on the green scheme cap-and-trade. He never campaigned for Republicans. Aside from blocking bad proposals, including gay marriage and open border policies, Arnold went along with the same bloated budgets.

Will Trump become the same terminated wannabe Terminator?

Looking at the president’s first six months, I rest assured that my vote was not a bad gamble but the right choice. Granted we are only through the first half of the first year of his presidency, but I am convinced that we don’t have a spineless Schwarzenegger-type in the White House. Trump has governed quite conservatively in contrast to his prior liberal-leaning rhetoric:

• He has defunded overseas abortions, and even extended the Mexico-city gag rule. He has also personally vouched to do everything possible to help little Charlie Gard in the United Kingdom. Trump is probably the most pro-life resident in our nation’s history.
• Even more than Reagan and definitely more than California Governor Schwarzenegger, Trump has openly avowed and acknowledged this country’s legacy, need, and commitment to Almighty God. I cannot think of any better spokesman than Trump, a man with clear flaws yet who was unafraid to admit to them, especially following the scandalous remarks to Billy Bush from 11 years ago.
• Illegal immigration is getting the drastic attention it needs. A border wall, coupled with tracking down VISA overstays and defunding sanctuary cities is an agenda anyone could be proud of.
• He has negotiated a hiring freeze within the federal government and has appointed definitive executive leadership within in his cabinet to root out waste and cut costs. It’s good news to hear when the new Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announces intentions to cut the State Department staff by 21 percent.
• I have given this incredible portion of his legacy great attention, and he still deserves praise for doing so: Trump has trashed the biased, corrupt media in a sound yet profound fashion.
• Unlike Schwarzenegger, who gave a fluffy keynote speech on family values at the 2004 RNC Convention, Trump defends them.

Will Trump turn into a liberal squish? No way. He has passed this test with flying colors. I look forward to eight more years of Trump terminating the liberal opposition in Washington and across the country.
