The entire Washington establishment is lining up behind Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to replace Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) as the next Speaker of the House, but electing him will hurt President Trump and Republicans across the nation.
McCarthy is not conservative. He has supported budget-busting spending bills, massive increases in debt, and taxpayer funding for Obamacare, amnesty, and Planned Parenthood.
But even beyond his lack of conservative convictions, Kevin McCarthy is too weak to advance Republican priorities.
It's why his colleagues skipped over him in 2015 when they were looking for a new Speaker following John Boehner's resignation.
And it's why then-candidate Donald J. Trump said he was unfit to lead Republicans in Congress.
Specifically, Trump said McCarthy lacked the necessary "brainpower" and "toughness" for the job and took credit for getting House Republicans to reject McCarhty.
Brainpower and toughness.
These are attributes possessed by Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and it's why conservatives across the nation want him to be the next Speaker of the House.
