"Judgment Day for Public Unions"
- The Atlantic
That's just one headline out of hundreds your Foundation is generating, Arthur.
With the oral arguments in your Foundation's Janus v. AFSCME Supreme Court case just days away, reporters are laying out the massive implications:
"Crushing blow..."
"...cripple Democratic-leaning labor unions..."
"...deal the death blow to public sector unions..."
"...could effectively act as a nationwide right-to-work law for the country's public-sector workers..."
"...labor movement's worst nightmare..."
That's what journalists predict a Supreme Court victory would mean in your Foundation's Janus case.
But it takes more than just press coverage to win at the Supreme Court.
An entire team of your Foundation's experienced attorneys have been preparing for months to present the best legal arguments for the Supreme Court to ultimately rule government sector forced unionism as incompatible with the First Amendment.
Our attorneys worked around the clock to draft legal briefs, research legal documents, respond to union arguments, coordinate amicus briefs, and perfect the arguments our attorneys will present at the nation's highest court.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
We know from past experiences and victories -- victories that paved the way for the current Janus case -- that legal costs can skyrocket amidst a heated battle at the Supreme Court.
In fact, we've seen federal judges calculate the cost of attorney fees to be well over $1 million for similar cases that reach the Supreme Court.
And since union bosses, their forced-dues-backed political allies and their sympathizers in the media have warned the entire progressive movement in this country will "crumble" without Big Labor's forced-dues control over public sector workers. . .
. . . The union bosses are more determined than ever.
Big Labor's legion of lawyers struck back and used use every legal tactic from past cases to delay and draw out the legal process as long as they could.
In fact, one longtime teacher union strategist predicted union lawyers could attempt to to delay the case long enough for a Justice poised to strike down forced dues to 'get run over by a bus.'
Make no mistake, union bosses will try anything to derail our case.
And even at this stage of the process, every curveball Big Labor throws at your Foundation's Janus case will drain more of our resources.
With the oral arguments set to begin next week, it's crucial your National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation reaches our Supreme Court Victory Fund goal of $80,000 by Thursday night's deadline.
Fortunately, a group of very generous supporters has agreed to DOUBLE every contribution, dollar-for-dollar, towards our efforts.
Even if you've already pitched in before, I hope you'll help us close the gap with a tax-deductible and matched donation of $15, $25, $50 or more right away.
I really appreciate your support in what is perhaps the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation's biggest Supreme Court case yet.
So please contribute below:

Let's Get National Right-To-Work Passed ASAP!
Dear Arthur,
There is only one bill to end decades of forced unionism and its stranglehold on the wallets of working Americans -- the National Right to Work Act.
But the only way you and I will ever be able to force roll-call votes in Congress on the National Right to Work Act is to turn up the heat on the politicians.
That's why I recently started an all-out Cosponsor Blitz to ramp up our grassroots programs into high gear before Congress leaves on their August break.
You see, the more pro-freedom Americans you and I can identify and mobilize, the more grassroots pressure we can apply to wavering politicians to take action on the National Right to Work Act.
More grassroots pressure means more cosponsors, and maximizing the number of cosponsors is critical to ultimately force roll-call votes.
That's why I set a deadline for myself and my staff, and reached out to you for help to raise the funds necessary to mobilize 16,000 new grassroots supporters in each targeted district to help add 22 new cosponsors in the next 45 days.
Arthur, the deadline for meeting this goal was midnight last night.
But this isn't the end, Arthur. I've made the decision to extend the deadline through Sunday, July 30th.
You see, thanks to a generous contribution from of one of the Committee's best supporters, I can offer you a special matching grant for this fundraising program.
Until we hit our new deadline on Sunday, every donation you give will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, by the contribution from a generous Committee supporter, DOUBLING the impact of your gift!
This special extension means that if you haven't yet had the chance, there's still time to chip in -- and thanks to this special matching grant, you can do more than ever!
Even if you've already chipped in, I hope you'll go the extra mile and make a second contribution to the Cosponsor Blitz. This program is that important.
Don't let this opportunity go to waste. Please click here to chip in with a generous contribution of $10 or $20.

Arthur, your Committee has a battle-proven plan to identify and mobilize 16,000 new pro-freedom Americans in each targeted district to put pressure on vulnerable members of Congress and demand they cosponsor the National Right to Work Act.
And once we maximize the number of cosponsors, then we can ultimately push for up-or-down roll-call votes in both the House and the Senate.
But we cannot make any progress without your support.
And that's why it's so important you take advantage of this special matching grant.
Every generous contribution you make will have twice the impact, Arthur.
But to make this work, I need your response by Sunday.
Won't you please chip in immediately before the deadline?

With a fully-funded Cosponsor Blitz, your Committee will be able to run hard-hitting campaigns -- including email, Facebook, and targeted mailing campaigns -- designed to put pressure on vulnerable Congressmen, demanding they cosponsor the National Right to Work Act.
These mobilization tactics have a proven track record.
But without the full amount, I'm worried that our efforts won't be nearly as effective -- delaying real progress on the National Right to Work Act!
I cannot stress the necessity of this fund enough. Please contribute a generous donation of at least $10 today.
I know I can count on you.
Sincerely,
Mark Mix, President
National Right to Work Committee
P.S. I've decided to offer a special extension on this National Right to Work Act Cosponsor Blitz. The new deadline is Sunday, July 30th.
But even more importantly, thanks to the one of the Committee's most generous supporters, I can offer you a special matching grant.
Every donation you give will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, doubling your pro-life impact!
Don't let this opportunity go to waste. Please click here to chip in with a generous contribution of $10 or $20.

Right to Work Foundation is Taking on the AFL-CIO
See what the Right to Work Foundation is taking on now.
Big Labor cannot stand the idea of working men and women choosing whether they join a union or not.
Even when duly-elected representatives expand their liberties, labor unions insist on fighting back.
Check out what RTW is doing to stop this!
Dear Arthur,
"Shame on the AFL-CIO."
Those are the words of Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin in response to AFL-CIO union bosses lawsuit against the Commonwealth's new Right to Work law.
A law that has freed thousands of Kentuckians from the shackles of Big Labor and has already resulted in huge economic growth.
Just days ago, Braidy Industries announced it would be building a $1.3 billion plant in Kentucky which would bring 550 permanent jobs along with countless numbers of construction jobs.
The Wall Street Journal summed it up in their headline: "The Mill That Right to Work Built." In the article they report the Ashland, Kentucky plant never have been built if Governor Bevin hadn't signed Kentucky's Right to Work bill into law in January.
But you see Arthur, union bosses could not care less about the jobs and increased economic opportunity Right to Work is bringing to Kentucky.
They are only concerned with restoring their forced dues powers over workers, so they can threaten Kentucky workers: Pay up or be fired.
The National Right to Work Foundation has seen this game before with Foundation staff attorneys defending Right to Work laws across the country, most recently in Michigan, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.
That is why the Foundation immediately set up a special legal task force to defend the law even before the ink was dry on Governor Bevin's signature on the bill.
And now, with Big Labor's lawsuit to overturn the Bluegrass State's new Right to Work law just as Kentucky is reaping the economic benefits, staff attorneys for your Foundation are already preparing their response to the AFL-CIO's lawsuit.

Former SEIU Promoter Now Teaches Home Healthcare Providers to Quit
This press release was the best news yet that I had read from the Freedom Foundation.
More home-care parents are rising up against the SEIU's bullying, forced coercion for membership because of the Medicare funding which parents receive to care for the children with multiple disabilities.
Check out the efforts of Benjamin Olsen, a former union cheerleader who now fights the union which is robbing him:
Bingo!
Amen to that!
More home-care parents are rising up against the SEIU's bullying, forced coercion for membership because of the Medicare funding which parents receive to care for the children with multiple disabilities.
Check out the efforts of Benjamin Olsen, a former union cheerleader who now fights the union which is robbing him:
Benjamin Olson has seen the issue from both sides and he knows which is
telling the truth.
That's why these days he's working to inform other home-based
healthcare providers like himself of their right to opt out of union dues and
fees.
Home-based healthcare should be free from government wrangling and union pilfering.
Parents taking care of sick and disabled children should not have to fight with bureaucrats, too.
Olson, featured in a new series of television ads running on local
cable systems in the Seattle and Puget Sound region starting this week, used to
see things differently. In fact, he was such an enthusiastic supporter of SEIU
775, which represents Washington homecare providers in collective bargaining
talks with the state, that the union deployed him to persuade other providers
to sign their membership cards.
This kind of story scares unions more than anything else.
When leaders and promoters start to realize that unions do not care about their members, but only care about themselves, they try to stifle, shame, then marginalize these opponents.
Let's face the facts: unions stopped caring about their members the moment that they force prospective employees to join them.
It's doubly shameful that unions want to take down a family man who is fighting to get the best care for his son,
That all changed, however, when SEIU 775 included him on a bus trip to
Olympia to lobby Washington state lawmakers on behalf of the union's political
agenda.
He was struck by how little of what the union spends its time doing had
anything to do with the issues he and his wife Tammy faced every day caring for
their son Sean.
How about that?
Of course, those of us who have been attacking this corrupt underbelly of labor unions have known about the abusive misuse of membership dues for years.
Years!
Then he heard from the Freedom Foundation about a 2014 U.S. Supreme
Court ruling that said home-based healthcare and childcare providers were not
state employees in the conventional sense and could no longer be compelled to
join a labor union.
With the Freedom Foundation's help, the Olsons opted out immediately …
then started helping others do the same.
The move saved the family $2,000 a year in dues.
"Having the union take our money was a real hardship on us,"
Tammy Olson says during the TV spot.
Isn't that terrible?
Unions which claim to respect the needs of the members and their families were more interested in taking their money for their own special interest entitlements!
And power
"Now we use it on things that matter to our family," Benjamin
Olson explains, "like groceries, gas and medical bills."
"The union hasn't helped us, and we're better off without
them," Tammy Olson said.
I want that line broadcast all over the country. End forced unionism, and end the corruption of Big Labor robbing working families.
"Benjamin and Tammy's story is so powerful, and yet it's typical
of what we hear from care providers every day," said Freedom Foundation
CEO Tom McCabe.
It's powerful and moving. Unions are supposed to help workers, not hinder them. They are supposed to build up team membership and support their families.
Instead, unions misappropriate their funds.
"All they want to do is take care of their loved one," he
said, "and under Medicaid, the state allocates a bit of money to money to
help defray their costs. But when the union sees a pile of cash, it doesn't
care what it was intended for. All that matters to the union bosses is how they
can cut themselves in for a piece of it."
Since 2014, more than 10,000 caregivers in Washington and Oregon have
opted out of the union, and that number grows every day as more and more of the
barriers erected between the unions and their members are eliminated.
May their numbers increase. This is how states in otherwise liberal regions break the stronghold of corrupt special interests.
"When people hear the truth, they want no part of the union,"
McCabe said. "That's why the union is so desperate to keep these people in
the dark, and why Benjamin Olson and the Freedom Foundation are so determined
to tell them the truth."
Amen to that!

U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) Fights for Right-to-Work
Well-respected libertarian thinkers like Murray Rothbard never claimed that the libertarian philosophy would answer those problems.
![]() |
| U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) |
And yet, a political candidate must have ready answers for those issues.
Rand Paul's campaign for President may have failed, but his push to get the federal government out of our pocket books and personal lives is still going strong.
He has also been an ardent fighter against Big Labor and their anti-First Amendment abuses.
Check out his latest eblast, in league with the National Right-to-Work Foundation:
Dear Concerned American,
It's vital that you sign your petition immediately.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Barack Obama and the Big
Labor bosses are about to go ballistic.
One of the biggest complaints I still have with Donald Trump is that he has said nothing--absolutely nothing--to stop the abuses of public sector labor unions, and has offered nothing to deal with the encroachments and dangers they pose against the First Amendment.
Collective bargaining abuses are ruining states all over the country. Why should hard-pressed taxpayers continue to foot the bills for bloated pensions and benefits for civil servants?
You see, the National Right to Work Act has been introduced
to forever repeal Big Labor's power to force workers to pay union dues just to
get or keep a job.
Good! No one should face extortion to get a job. That is wrong!
So the union lobbyists, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and their
allies are going to use every trick in the book to bury the National Right to
Work Act.
And they want to do it as quietly as possible.
The union kingpins (and their water-carriers in Congress)
can't afford the consequences of having their coercive privileges publicly
debated and voted on in Congress!
They don't want the American people to know that:
***
Millions of workers are forced to surrender part of every
paycheck to keep their jobs;
This cash funds violent "organizing" drives,
provides a limousine lifestyle for union bigwigs and bankrolls radical,
tax-and-spend politicians like Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.
Republicans need focus as much as they can on the lavish life-styles of union bosses. They live like kings, while union employees are treated like peons.
***
Big Labor's power is deadly to millions of small businesses;
Big Labor politicians and Obama-stacked bureaucracies are
strangling small businesses with confiscatory taxes, destructive laws and
straitjacket regulations.
***
Forced-unionism exports millions of good jobs overseas;
This is one of the reasons
Productivity-killing work rules, workplace class warfare,
slowdowns, "sick-outs" and strikes have all taken their crippling
toll, closing the doors of many businesses -- for good.
Once again, the problems with trade in the United States does not just rest on bad trade deals, but overbearing union rules and labor union abuses.
| More Economic growth in right-to-work states (Credit: Media Matters) |
***
Big Labor thugs often use their forced-unionism power to
terrorize workers and communities with violent strikes, where they have gotten
away with beatings, arson, extortion -- even murder!
Don't take Rand Paul's words for it. Ask Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.
In the fight for a National Right to Work law, opponents of
forced-unionism will face a showdown against the full might of Big Labor.
That's why it's vital that you act at once to ignite massive
public support for a National Right to Work bill.
Now is the time to act.
By the time the National Right to Work Act comes up for a
vote, every member of Congress must realize the eyes of the American people
will be watching.
National opinion polls show that nearly 80% of the American
people think it's wrong to force workers to pay union dues under the threat of
being fired if they don't pay!
The vast majority of voters oppose the policy, and yet they can't do anything about it.
Ridiculous!
And it's critical the National Right to Work Committee, who
has led the fight against forced dues for over 50 years, has your help in
demonstrating that to Congress.
If the public's attention is fixed on this battle,
politicians in Congress will be forced to recognize -- or defy to their peril
-- the massive public opposition to compulsory unionism.
Then we'll see who dares to stand with Big Labor . . .
. . . And who stands with freedom and the American people.
Sincerly,
Rand Paul, M.D.
U.S. Senator
Final Reflection
Every individual who seeks a job should not have to pay an extortion to a labor union to work.
Labor unions had their place in our economy, but the expansion of learning, innovation, and opportunity has exposed unions as living in the past.
Our economy can grow as we allow individual workers to find gainful employment, and stop shutting out workers who want to move up and profit in their lives.
It's time for Right-to-Work across the country. I hope that more U.S. Senators join with Senator Paul's to make it happen.
Sign the petition for Right-to-Work here.
Share this information far and wide. Let's help U.S. Senator Rand Paul and end forced unionism in the United States, the land of the free.
