This Christmas, Even in This Dark Time, Enjoy the Light

“It’s Christmas! You should rejoice!” The presence of family, presents under the Christmas tree, rocking around to different versions of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” should encourage everyone to celebrate!

Christmas, a time to rejoice with lights and perfections, can also be one of the darkest times of the year. A close family member—parent, spouse, sibling— may have passed away during this time, and that loss is particularly painful during the Christmas season. There are many alone, homeless, ill. They endure this festive time coupled with their intense, personal privations. For many, Christmas should be a time of great celebration. This pressure adds to their pain.

Christmas has been both a dark time and a bright time for me, too. Some years, there was nothing but joy and victory to ponder from the previous months. Sometimes, it seemed like there was nothing to celebrate.

In the world today, it seems that the shadow of death is not just overcast, but cannot be overcome. Despite victories here and there on the life and liberty front, the forces of evil march on:
1.       In Indonesia, a brutal tsunami wiped out hundreds of lives just three days before Christmas. This is not the first time in recent memory that a horrific tsunami wreaked such havoc during the Christmas season.

2.       Throughout the world, younger generations are determined to embrace socialism, the very corrosive cultural, economic, and political cult which the Greatest Generation had defeated during World War II. Millennials and even post-Millennials know nothing about the Freedom Trio of Reagan, Thatcher, and Pope John Paul II who defeated Communism, and thus ended the Cold War in 1989. Incidentally, he Soviet Union officially ceased to exist on Christmas Day, 1991. Sadly, the Specter of Communism has not be consigned to the ash heap of history after all.

3.     In the so-called Free World of the West, freedoms of speech, assembly, and religions face untold hardships. Tommy Robinson of Great Britain reported the truth about Islam, and he was shut away in a prison for months. Bill Whatcott of Canada endures untold criminal indictments just for preaching the Gospel, and his government is more committed to political correctness than moral uprightness to this day. Aaron and Melissa Klein of Oregon, Jack Philipps of Colorado, and others face civil penalties or unrelenting legal action because they refuse to endorse the LGBT Agenda in their private businesses.

4.       Americans have forgotten the sacrifices which helped bring down the Berlin Wall. At the same time, politicians in Washington DC refuse to build a wall along the United States’ Southern Border to secure our country and legacy.
5.       As of this writing, the stock market is facing an unprecedented downturn. Wealth creation is turning into wealth evaporation for those who bet big on a strong stock market.
6.       The very businessmen and corporations which benefited from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 are using their unprecedented wealth to undermine the very country which made wealth creation possible and essential to its character of free enterprise.
7.       For three years in a row, the opioid crisis and addiction epidemic has cut the average lifespan of Americans. The reason? Many have lost the reason to live, and not just for a season.
It’s a dark time right time.

Despite these tragedies, all of us need to remember what—or rather Who—this season celebrates.
Christmas is about the Light of the World (John 8:12) who came into this darkness. It’s not about pretending there is no darkness, but about remembering that the world has a Savior to rescue and protect us in the midst of the darkness.

The prophet Isaiah declared:

“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” (Isaiah 9:2)

Why?

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

There are so many walking, stumbling in a dark world right now.

But notice that phrase “in the land of the shadow of death.” It reminds us of the beloved 23rd Psalm:

“Yea, thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.”
Jesus, the Savior of the World, is also called “Immanuel” which means “God with us”. From the beginning, he entered into darkness, relieving and comforting us in dark places. His birth came at a bleak time, more foreboding than our own. Ruthless Caesars in Rome could force a world-wide census upon numerous conquered peoples. There were no rights for all, but ultimately privileges for “citizens of Rome.” Entertainment was a fatuous bloodsport of slaves butchering each other before mindless crowds.

And yet, in a tiny manger in a forlorn stable in an overlooked city, Christ the Savior was born. The Light of the World came into a world that had no hope, no peace.

This Light guides the souls of millions today, and they are not overcome by darkness:

1.       Chinese Christians are fighting back despite Communist regime crackdowns.
2.       From West Hollywood to Boston, Massachusetts, evangelical churches are sprouting up across the United States.
3.       Iranians are converting to Christianity in unprecedented numbers, in spite of persecution in their home country.

This Christmas, we may live in a dark world gone darker, but the darkness does not have to overcome us. This Christmas season, ignore the surrounding chaos and enjoy the Light, just as the Israelites in Exodus weathered the plagues, then enjoyed divine light in their homes (Exodus 10:23). Let us rest and receive the true reason for the season, the Light and Savior of the World, God who became a man, the baby born to die that man could be set free from sin and enjoy life eternally.

Flight from Oregon to Home: Christmastime 2017

Here's the video of the long descent off the plane:

It took twenty minutes for the plane to land, since the landing strips were full. The passengers ended waiting another half and hour before the plane found a gate for all of us to deplane.

Here are the photois of our swirling loop over the Los Angeles area while waiting for room to land on the LAX tarmac:

Christmas (And Western Civilization) Made Great Again

“Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” (Isaiah 9:1-2)

Indeed, the light is shining again in this dark world: the resurgence of the truth, of the Gospel in a time which has seen Judeo-Christian culture and values attacked in unprecedented, disturbing fashion.

The sad litany of anti-Western hate should make anyone livid:

Christians have been massacred, targeted for genocide in the Middle East.

Israel is still treated as a pariah, even among Western nations, specifically the United States’ own President, who worked the background of international figureheads, and delivered a final stab in the back to the Jewish State. The United Nations Security Council glibly issued a resolution condemning Israel for the Jewish settlements in the West Bank. Barack Obama, your name is shame and infamy, and We the People cannot wait to see you ushered out of the White House and into the dust bin of history.

The goodness of the Christian faith, one which affirms the vitality and potential of every human life, which explains the immense richness yet unparalleled roughness of a fallen world, is not falling away. It still amazes me every year to read of hostile Muslims who become Christians, who recognize Jesus as more than a historic figure or a great teacher, but a Savior who came to deliver dead men in a dying world to have life and that more abundantly (John 10: 10)

And is that not the central theme which stands out in the Christmas season? Life standing out, light breaking forth in a dark world, and the certainty of a good, holy, blessed end in spite of our early failings and our current challenges.

Joseph and Mary found themselves at the apex of every prophesy and promise, and even they may not have understood the magnanimous opportunity brought to the world—through them! Judea, the wild and rebellious province of Ancient Rome, was defined by the worst of times, not the best. The tyrannical Romans had conquered the world. Abuse, fraud, and despotism were the norm. Rapacious taxation ruled the day. For the Jewish people, the humiliation of Gentile rule was particularly damaging.

Then came the Savior, the Messiah long foretold (see the verse from Isaiah above). He shined from the moment He arrived. He came to save man from his sin, to grant all of us Eternal life to reign without fear. The nobility that every one of us can receive, the promise of everlasting righteousness (Daniel 9:24) can true on that Christmas night. The reminder that everyone of us was created to live as kings, to have a royalty which no other creature can claim—that message broke through the darkness in the little town of Bethlehem.

Even though Jesus was born king, he was born in poverty. Yet His glory could not be hidden from those who sought him—and such defines all wise men: those who seek Him, Jesus, the Savior of the World.

There has been great darkness in the world. For eight years—and even longer for some—terrorism, moral relativism have had the upper hand. Despite the death of one terrorist, five would emerge more rabid than the previous set.

Then the popular revolt of men and women, the fighting force that would defend Western Civilization, a creed based on “Love thy neighbor” instead of “Submit or die!” emerged. Brexit, the election of Donald Trump, the failures of the statist Italian referendum, all signal the death knell of a petty secularism which man’s spirit cannot abide. Their war on Christmas has ended, too.
Israel proves to the world that the the tale of the Persecuted Jew is just that—a tale.  Jews will not be bullied any longer.

Such is the heartbeat of the West, and at its core the Gospel, which announces to all men that “through this man [Jesus], you are justified from all things which you could not be justified through the law of Moses.” (Acts 13: 38-39)

It’s time for the secularists, the statists, and the globalists to give up. Their attempted revival of the Roman Empire has hit a roadblock. Their time is not now.

It’s time for the hostile Arab states and the Islamic terrorist networks to accept what they can never change. Israel will forever be the land for the Jewish people, one corner of the world, a nation whose size is often compared to New Jersey. No matter the hostility, they are not leaving.

The tyrannical migrants who want to overrun Europe, who threaten the United States, who want to remove recognition of Christ and Christmas, will confront a new life, a new light shining, and their darkness can diminish it. Christ and Him Crucified will not disappear, and His life—then and now—resonates with redemption for all who will believe.

This weekend, I watched the Christmas messages of Queen Elizabeth the Second. She delivered her first Christmas greeting by television in 1957. She spoke of courageous adherence to timeless traditions while embracing the rapid transition of modern life. If the advent of television was surprising then, one can only imagine her youthful response to technological accelerations today.
Yet the need for truth and justice, values which hold Western civilization together—they are under attack in unprecedented fashion, too. Not just from outsider, from Islamic terrorists, but from within, from the rigorous corruption and anti-divine retribution. But those forces are now failing. The light which first shined two thousand years ago shines still today, and encourages those desperate and fearful of the darkness, that greater glory will fall upon them soon.

Merry Christmas to all!

We the People Rising Celebrate Trump-Mas, and Take Down a Moronic Marxist

I am not afraid to celebrate Donald Trump's victory.

This country needed a truth enema, and we got so much more with Trump.

The economy is booming.

People are optimistic about the future. A sense of unity and purpose is budding again.

I no longer worry about my freedoms being systematically reduced then removed entirely.

It's OK to shout "Merry Christmas!" and sing Christmas carols once again!

Check out how We the People Rising partied and shared the festive cheer with travelers near and fear along Hollywood Blvd!

And of course, there were critics.

The intellectual idiots who think they know more than everyone else--Los Angeles has its fair share.

One of them got into a heated argument with us, but we showed up him Christmas cheer plus a strong capacity to tell it like it T-I-S!

This guy claimed that illegal immigration is not that bad

He also believed that the entire economy would collapse if the 12 million illegal aliens left the country.

And of course, he insisted on calling them "undocumented" -- people are not undocumented, because they are not pieces of paper or goods in a warehouse.

But human beings can be illegal if their status in a country is not in compliance with state or federal law.

Check out the "interview":

It was kind of entertaining.

More conservatives should not be afraid to confront liberals like the one above.

They oftentimes end up making your case without saying a word!

This guy's history was really messed up. He claimed that the United States always had open borders ...

He also argued that we thought we were opposed to immigration in its entirety.

Not at all. Leftists often resort to that argument to shame immigration enforcement activists. We were unintimidated.

In the clip below, the Marxist defended open borders.

UNREAL!

This "economist" even claimed that you cannot refute Marx without also refuting Adam Smith ...

Wow! I never thought I would confront so much educated ignorance all at once! YIKES!  He even referred to statistical evidence proferred by .... the United Nations?!

He also claimed that Cuba was a clean and well-run country. WHAT!

Then he suggested that the only Cubans who fled Cuba were criminals?!

WOW!

Ho Ho Ho!
