I don't know who is running George Chen's campaign, but these kinds of mailers are not very inspiring.
Or interesting.
I hear all this talk about international outreach and partnerships.
I see some business leaders, and I see some business connections.
A Taiwan semiconductor company takes a photo with the mayor. Did he set up a major business here? I am not sure, because the mailer is not clear about it.
The Taiwanese National Olympic Committee has chosen Torrance as its home base for the 2028 Olympics. That's great, I guess. But is that all?
I see some famous Dodgers baseball players getting celebrated. OK, and how does that help the city?
Yes, I am aware of the largest Dodgers mural in the world.
Would someone tell me why this is important, though?
Has this brought any money to the city?
All of this looks more like a joy ride for some elected officials, but where is the service for the city? How does this help everyday constituents like me?
I don't even care about baseball! I am sure that I am not only in my uninterest.
What about fighting crime? Is the cost of living improving?
Has there been any discussion about lowering taxes in the city?
What about restoring the Armed Forces Day parade?
There are plenty of issues that I am certain Mayor George Chen could brag about.
This isn't it.
