Press Release: California Republican Assembly Endorses Chad Bianco for Governor

CALIFORNIA REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY ENDORSES SHERIFF CHAD BIANCO FOR GOVERNOR

The Oldest Republican Volunteer Organization in California Throws Its Support Behind Riverside County Sheriff in 2026 Gubernatorial Race

SACRAMENTO, CA – APRIL 9, 2026– The California Republican Assembly (CRA), the oldest Republican volunteer organization in California and long regarded as “The Conscience of the Republican Party,” today announced its formal endorsement of Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco for Governor of California in the 2026 election. The endorsement was approved by a two-thirds supermajority of CRA delegates at it's recent annual convention.

Sheriff Bianco, who announced his candidacy in February 2025, has built his campaign on a platform of restoring public safety, repealing failed criminal justice policies, eliminating California’s sanctuary state laws, and delivering what he calls “a revolution of competence in government.” A two-term sheriff of Riverside County — one of the largest sheriff’s offices in the nation — Bianco has been a vocal critic of Governor Newsom’s leadership on crime, homelessness, and government spending.

“Sheriff Chad Bianco is the leader California urgently needs,” said Carl Brickey, President of the California Republican Assembly. “He is not a politician who discovered public safety when it became convenient — he has lived it, enforced it, and fought for it every single day. The CRA endorses candidates who reflect the conservative values and fighting spirit that Ronald Reagan exemplified, and Sheriff Bianco does exactly that. He will make crime have consequences again, restore order to our streets, and bring the kind of no-nonsense accountability to Sacramento that Californians are desperately hungry for. We are proud to stand behind him.”

Sheriff Bianco expressed his gratitude for the endorsement, stating:

“The endorsement of the California Republican Assembly is a tremendous honor. This endorsement comes from Californians who are on the front lines every day, engaging their communities, defending our freedoms, and holding elected officials accountable. The CRA has a long history of supporting candidates who stand firm on principle and refuse to compromise on core values. As Governor, I will bring that same strength and clarity to Sacramento — restoring accountability and common sense, and putting California families first. I am grateful the CRA has put their trust in me to bring real leadership, integrity, public safety, and fiscal responsibility back to California.”

Bianco has pledged, if elected, to reverse California’s criminal justice reforms that have fueled rising crime and homelessness, eliminate the state’s sanctuary policies blocking cooperation with federal immigration authorities, defund the state’s high-speed rail project, and expand alcohol, drug, and mental health treatment programs to address the homelessness crisis.

The California gubernatorial primary is scheduled for June 2, 2026, under California’s top-two primary system, in which all candidates appear on a single ballot regardless of party affiliation, and the top two vote-getters advance to the November general election.

The CRA, founded in 1934 and incorporated in 1935, has a decades-long history of endorsing Republican candidates at all levels of government. Under its bylaws, endorsements require the support of two-thirds of delegates at convention.
