The Trump Derangement Syndrome is real.
It's a terrible delusion, to put it mildly.
And MoveOn.org has it in spades.
They are obsessing over Project 2025.
They are panicking over Matt Gaetz as the next Attorney General.
They are hyperventilating about everything Trump going into the 2025 inauguration.
It's going to be interesting how things develop between now and January 20th, 2025.
In the meantime, MoveOn.org has shared their latest meltdown for all the world to see:
Dear MoveOn member,
These are the people who will try to carry out Donald Trump's Project 2025.
Despicably, Matt Gaetz—an ultra-MAGA congressman who was under an ethics investigation for sexual misconduct and was investigated for sex trafficking—is Trump's nominee for attorney general.1
Trump is hiring Stephen Miller—the architect of the Muslim ban, kids in cages, and family separation—as his deputy chief of staff for policy to implement Project 2025 and enact MAGA's racist and classist immigration crackdown.2
Trump has also chosen Pete Hegseth, a co-host for "Fox & Friends Weekend" and Trump loyalist with barely any experience, to lead the Department of Defense.3
He is tapping billionaires Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to head up his so-called "Department of Government Efficiency," which is expected to eliminate critical regulations that protect our health, safety, and environment—all so giant corporations, including Musk's very own, can pad their bottom lines.4
And on Thursday we learned that Trump will nominate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who peddled conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 pandemic and is a virulent opponent of lifesaving vaccines, to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, alarming medical experts.5
Those are just some of Trump's picks for Cabinet and senior staff—and they are as troubling as we expected and deeply loyal to MAGA.
Make no mistake, we are on the verge of entering a dark four years in our nation.
But we cannot give in to cynicism and inaction.
In Trump's first term, we defeated his attempts to destroy the Affordable Care Act, we stopped his Muslim ban, and we ended his migrant family separation policy. We can do it again—but only if we are united and strong.
And this time around, we've already had a victory! On Tuesday, after MoveOn and our allies swung into action, Congress voted to kill a bill that would have granted Trump broad powers to destroy nonprofits that he dislikes, like MoveOn, and would have allowed him to censor and punish his political opponents.6
It is now more important than ever that we come together and immediately escalate our nationwide efforts to defend communities under attack and fight for our freedoms.
We refuse to let Trump take us back.
Trump and MAGA's hateful and authoritarian vision for the U.S. should be met with the defiance it deserves, and the communities that are under attack deserve to know that we will continue to show up and fight back against the worst of this administration.
