Default: Not the End of the World

The federal government simply cannot spend what it spends without consequences.

Politicians have ranted over and over that this country cannot continue to "kick the can down the road."

This time, there will be no more kicking down the road.

Like screaming children no longer getting their free ride, Democrats are shocked that Tea Party movement allies, conservatives, and even moderate Democrats in the House of Representatives will not play ball any longer.

Bipartisanship in Washington has turned into a dirty game, one in which Democrats and Republicans would yell at each other and defame their values and efforts on camera, but in the deep halls of committee and comity, they would pat each other on the back and continue spending money which the country did not have.

US Senator Tom Coburn attempted to broker compromise time and again with his US Senate colleagues.

He even created a comprehensive budget plan, "Back in Black", which would cut spending from every department, including Veterans Affairs.

Sounds unfair, but if any politicians picks and chooses which departments get cut and which do not, then the debt fight will never end.

Everyone, every interests, whether special or public, must go under the budget scalpel.

Coburn worked with Democrats and Independent Joe Lieberman to press means testing on Medicare.

I would suggest that anyone receive a federal subsidy like disability should attend an interview to determine whether they need the coverage or not. Great Britain required all recipients to submit to an interview, and right away half the recipients gave up the handout.

Default may be the only way for the American Government to stop the reckless spending spree which is eating up our country's present and removing any future.

President Obama has brought this outrageous stalemate upon himself. A true progressive, he assumed that he could bypass the checks and balances written into the United States Constitution, that by his will he could get his way.

Things are not turning out the way that he had expected, but as for the Founding Fathers, they would look down and smile.

The checks and balances are checking the President's power and balancing the better interest of all Americans against the Washington elites.
