Missouri MassResistance Call To Action: Stop Kansas City Reparative Therapy Ban

Dear Missouri MassResistance:

We are sending this email to our readers and supporters in the Kansas City area. In the city of Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas is proposing a city-wide ordinance to ban reparative therapy for minors.

This is very disturbing .If you are not informed about this therapy already, this therapy saves lives. It helps people who are struggling with homosexuality and transgenderism so that they can break out of those behaviors.

Of course, the LGBT lobby wants to ban this therapy as much as possible, because their whole agenda is based on this lie that people are “born that way”, and therefore they do not need to change, and no should try to change them.

The bill is being introduced today (October 24) and it will proceed further next week. So time is very short.

Your help is needed to stop this! Please contact the city council and the mayor of Kansas City and tell them NOT to ban reparative therapy. (See contact information below.)

Here are key talking points to include in your email or your phone call to the city council and mayor:

1. It’s “reparative therapy”, not “conversion therapy” – we are talking about a therapy which restores life and well-being to individuals, not a process for converting someone from one static identity to another identity.

2. Reparative therapy saves lives. Homosexuality, transgenderism, and other similar behaviors are inherently destructive, dangerous, and dysfunctional.

3. The opponents of reparative therapy claim that the therapy involves physical harm or torture. Those accusations are total lies. Reparative therapy is a talking therapy, a cognitive-emotional therapy which helps individuals deal with deeper, underlining hurts and pains.

4. The so-called expert organizations which debunk reparative therapy were all bullied or aggressively lobbied by LGBT ideologues. There is no scientific evidence which debunks reparative therapy or makes it out to be ineffective.

5. Reparative therapy is protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution: Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly.

6. Three federal cases have affirmed and defended reparative therapy practices, for minors as well as for adults:

a. Vazzo v. Tampa (2019) – Struck down reparative therapy ban for minors in Tampa, Florida

b. Schwartz v. The City of New York et al. (2019) – Lawsuit compelled the city council of New York City to repeal their comprehensive reparative therapy ban, both for adults and for minors, because the city realized that they could not win the case.

c. NIFLA v. Becerra (2018) – Supreme Court case which struck down any limitations on professional speech as unconstitutional. The Majority Opinion, authored by Justice Clarence Thomas, signaled very clearly that reparative therapy bans of any sort are unconstitutional and will not survive judicial scrutiny once challenged before the United States Supreme Court.

If the Kansas City city council passes any kind of reparative therapy ban, they are basically signaling that they want people to be harmed, to live in pain, or to die.

The city will also be inviting a number of costly lawsuits which the city will lose. In fact, the city could open itself up to further liability by attempting to ban a healthy, life-saving therapy.

🚨🚨RED ALERT!🚨🚨 Colorado Bill to Ban Reparative Therapy on Governor's Desk!

Colorado MassResistance and All Pro-Family activists across the United States:

We have another RED ALERT on our hands.

The Colorado State Legislature has passed HB19-1129, the bill to ban reparative therapy for minors, onto the Governor's desk.

This is a real emergency. It's a long-shot bid, but we need everyone who can to contact the Governor's office and tell him to VETO this bill.

Do what you can -- but share the following reasons:

1. The legislation is unconstitutional, and it will get struck down. Mention these two court cases: Vazzo v. Tampa and NIFLA v. Becerra.

NIFLA v. Becerra (2018) majority opinion written by Justice Clarence Thomas for a 5-4 majority. He declared that professional speech does not occupt a second-class status. Reparative therapy bans are unconstitutional based on this extensive affirmation of the First Amendment.

Vazzo v. Tampa (2019) relied explicitly on Justice Thomas' legal opinion to strike down the Tampa Bay reparative therapy ban. This issue will go to the Supreme Court--and the conservative majority will strike down all reparative therapy bans, for children as well as for adults.

2. This legislation will KILL CHILDREN. The LGBT Practices (which parents want to free their children from) will kill these children. They need and deserve the right to therapy which will save their lives.

3. This legislation is a gross violation of parental rights. Parents have every right and need to choose a therapy to help their children break free of destructive homosexual-transgender behaviors.

4. The whole set of arguments against reparative therapy is based on junk science and lies. There is no physical abuse involved. It's a cognitive-emotional therapy which has saved countless lives.

5. If you are going to ban reparative therapy, what's next? Will you shut down drug rehab clinics next? Will psychologists and psychiatrists have to fear for their careers and their licenses, too?

How MassResistance Made the Difference in 2018 -- Help Us in 2019!

How would the U.S. have been different in 2018 if MassResistance hadn’t been here?

Around the country the LGBT agenda is being confronted - and stopped.

Here's how we MADE a difference in 2018. Look for even more in 2019!

MassResistance is the only pro-family group that is on the ground mobilizing people across the country (and in several foreign countries). A lot of groups do great writing about the “culture war.” But unless it actually confronted, we will keep losing. Here are a few examples of how we changed things in 2018:

On the last day of the session, California State Assembly member Evan Low, sponsor of bill AB 2943, capitulated to pressure and pulled the bill from the floor. Low is considered the most aggressive member of the California LGBT Legislative caucus.

1. Without MassResistance, California would now have the most extreme anti-therapy law in the world.

California Bill AB 2943 would have banned anyone – children and adults – from receiving therapy for sexual orientation or gender identity issues. The bill aimed to prohibit all forms of communication on such therapy, including sermons, recordings, and classes.

At first, many pro-family groups came out and fought it. But despite their efforts, Bill AB 2943 easily sailed through the State Assembly and then the State Senate. It just needed to go back to the Assembly for one quick vote, and then the Governor was going to sign it. At that point everyone had given up.

But not MassResistance. Our California chapter came in and for two weeks conducted the most hard-hitting, relentless, lobbying effort in memory. People from across the state pounded their Assembly members. It wasn’t pretty. But on the last day of the session, the bill’s sponsor officially announced he was giving up the fight. The bill was stopped!

2. Without MassResistance, Massachusetts would also have a horrible anti-therapy law targeting children.

In Massachusetts, local groups tried to fight Bill H4664, which would ban therapy for vulnerable children – even those who had been raped or molested – and had sexual orientation or gender identity issues. But the bill still sailed through the State House of Representatives. It then went to the Senate (which is very pro-LGBT) where it was expected to pass easily. That’s when MassResistance went into full gear!

MassResistance got citizens to relentlessly hammer their State Senators with phone calls and emails, and visit their offices with information on the horrors of that bill. The bill got stalled. Then stalled again. On the last day of the session, at a minute to midnight, a procedural push failed. The bill was stopped!

In other states, (such as Texas) MassResistance activists are preparing to get to work if the LGBT movement pushes this there.

Inside the "Drag Queen Story Hour." These men are out to change the way children view reality.

3. Without MassResistance, parents across the country would be fighting the “Drag Queen Story Hours” virtually alone.

Also in 2018, the LGBT movement refined its push to target very young children (as young as three or four years old!) with radical “transgender” indoctrination. They are putting on “Drag Queen Story Hours” in public libraries (and some bookstores) across the country. Homosexual men in women’s clothes use psychological techniques to soften children to accept LGBT behaviors, while reading “gay” or “transgender” stories. How does this affect young, developing minds in the long run? The radicals pushing this don’t care about the harm they’re doing.

This year, we helped MassResistance parents across the country fight back! In Alaska, California, Texas, Michigan, Georgia, and New York, they’ve confronted the local library officials involved, as well as their elected public officials. Our team stopped one Drag Queen Story Hour, and others were derailed indefinitely. In fact, the national Drag Queen Story Hour website posted a warning about the “community backlash” that MassResistance was causing.

Parents are thrilled to be empowered to take action in their communities! And we’ve even had local conservative city officials call us and thank us for our activism.

This parent finally felt empowered at a School Board meeting!

4. Without MassResistance, many parents would continue to feel powerless against local School Boards to stop the extreme sex-ed and LGBT agendas in their schools.

Unfortunately, most pro-family groups are ineffective at dealing with local School Boards. Showing up at meetings with rational, polite testimony does not work. We show parents the techniques that work. This year we expanded that program. We had a School Board in California back down on their sex-ed/LGBT agenda after MassResistance parents confronted them. And we’re working on spreading this model across America.

Most conservative Christians had no idea how this was happening, or what to do about it!

5. Without MassResistance, parishioners would continue to be confused and frightened about the LGBT agenda coming into their conservative Christian churches

The national LGBT movement is spending millions of dollars to infiltrate conservative Christian churches (particularly in the South) with pro-LGBT ideology. Sadly, it has become surprisingly effective. But there are virtually no other pro-family groups fighting this.

This year MassResistance activists began taking action. We began our “Save Our Churches” video series (with Professor Robert Oscar Lopez) to educate people on this threat. Just exposing this LGBT effort is critically important. In addition, our people pushed strong resolutions at the annual Southern Baptist Convention in Dallas to confront it. And there’s more to come!

But all of this doesn’t happen for free, unfortunately. As I write this, people around the country are asking us to help them take action, too. We are very committed to continuing – and expanding – this revolution.
