Updates and Thoughts on the #DemShutdown

As of today, the current Democratic Shutdown has lasted 15 days. A little over two weeks, and this shutdown has become the second longest in the nation's history.

It's totally worth it. The big government bloat has taken too much of our nation's money and taken taxpapyers for all they are worth and then some.

With record tax revenue collections flowing into the treasury, and with the utmost need to secure our borders with a wall, there is no reason for the federal government to be funding all these other non-essential liabilities.

Here are the talking points to consider going forward with the current shutdown:

1. This shutdown belongs to the Democratic Party--all of it. Border security, including a strong physical barrier along the Southern border, is essential. The Democrats in Congress, in both chambers, voted for the fence ten, fifteen years ago.

Now, suddenly they don't want to build the wall?

2. I hope that this shutdown lasts for months. If the government does not secure our borders, that is essentially a government shutdown. Case closed, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

3. All the federal workers furloughed at this time? They are non-essential employees! If they do not want to be furloughed, not get paid, etc., they need to get out of Washington and get a real job in the real world!

4. The less that the federal government does, the better that the economy does. The less money that they are spending, the fewer programs which are funded

5. The economy is roaring into a greater strength than ever before. I doubt that we will see a recession this year. President Trump still has a phone and a pen to do what is needed within constitutional parameters.

6. The wall, the security of our nation's borders, is too commonsense an expectation, and the President knows it. He has already compromised on the funding, going from $25 billion to $5 billion.

7. This is going to be quite interesting, to say the least!

Shutdown? What Shutdown?!

Everyone is winning!

The country is still moving along just fine without DC. And that's the way it should be.

WINNING! House GOP Calls Cryin' Chuck's #SchumerShutdown Bluff, Sends Conference Home

I am so proud of the House GOP leadership.

They are finally working in line with the will of the American people. They are funding the government through February with another continuing resolution. Good.

Finally, Speaker Ryan is leading (a little)

They are putting in a program to continue funding for the CHIP program. Not so good.

They are delaying the onerous Obamacare taxes for two years. Very Good.

They are not going to have any discussions on immigration. EXCELLENT. There is no DACA in the legislation. Really, really good.

The House GOP leadership conference is standing their ground on the last continuing resolution. They are putting the onus on the Senate Democrats, sending the message loudly and clearly around the country.

Breitbart reports:

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said that Republican leadership will send House lawmakers home this weekend, calling Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) bluff on a potential government shutdown.

“We’ve passed our CR [Continuing Resolution],” McCarthy said after a House leadership meeting.

The House Majority Leader issued the following press release following passage of the latest CR, detailing this press release "Schumer Shutdown":

Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of a continuing resolution and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) funding:

“Everyone in Congress claims to support our troops, and Republicans and Democrats in the Senate came together and agreed to a Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) compromise. Today, the House has passed government funding legislation that makes sure our troops get paid and has the same CHIP legislation from the Senate. There are no gimmicks. There are no strings attached. This is a clean government funding bill that pays our troops, supports our veterans, keeps government open, and provides children with health insurance exactly the way Republicans and Democrats agreed to.

The legislation also delays dreaded taxes forced on the American people because of Obamacare.

“If Senate Democrats obstruct this legislation—and as a result shut down the government—they have made the decision to cut off pay to our troops and block children’s health care funding they support, laying bare an obvious act of political cynicism. It would show the American people that Democrats have spent months using our brave men and women in uniform, our veterans who have sacrificed serving our country, and health insurance for American children  as a bargaining chip for a completely unrelated immigration negotiation.”

Finally, the House GOP conference is playing 3-D chess. The Democrats have been demagoguing the CHIPS program for months. Are they going to vote against this beloved entitlement that they have championed for the past year?

The Speaker of the House issued his own press release, too, calling out the Schumer Democrats:

January 19, 2018|Speaker Ryan Press Office

WASHINGTON—House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) issued the following statement ahead of the Senate convening to consider the continuing resolution to fund the government and fully authorize the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for six years:

“Make no mistake about it: Senate Democrats are the only ones standing in the way of a fully funded government and a reauthorized health insurance program for children. This is no time to play politics and force a shutdown. The House has done its job. And now Democrats' dangerous opposition jeopardizes funding for our military and puts our national security at risk. It uses our men and women in uniform as political bargaining chips. This is unacceptable. This is needless. This is wrong. I urge Senator Schumer and the Senate Democrats to reconsider their reckless intent to shut down the government.”

Make no mistake: if there is a government shutdown tonight, it will be a:

#SchumerShutdown

This is what leadership looks like.

We need to send the message loudly and clearly to Washington DC.

Our government exists to serve American citizens, not illegal aliens, not amnesty panderers.

Call #CryinChuck and tell him "No #SchumerShutdown!
