US Senator Mark Udall |
Let's be clear: the only reason why this nation has suffered with President Obama for six years is that he was the ever-so-slightly lesser of two evils to a fairly slim majority, which got slimmer in 2012.
The importance of elections cannot be ignored, and the greater importance of an active citizen electorate must remain at the forefront of all future political discussions.
Now, six years later, Udall does not have the Obama-rama to rouse up his polling numbers.
His insistent diffident on answering questions about Obamacare is also hurting his chances of retaining the senate seat.
Colorado residents are getting fed up with Big Government altogether, too.
In addition to legalized recreational use of marijuana, key counties also moved to secede from a state whose current government has tilted a little too far to the left for the residents' taste.
Ken Buck |
Even Michael Bloomberg's millions could not protect the Democratic state senators in Colorado.
As for the US Senator race, Udall may be facing a voter U-Haul as well.
Ken Buck, the 2010 candidate for US Senate, was not consistent or connected enough of a conservative. His statements got more attention than his platform, and his lack of media savvy hurt his campaign (and probably brought down former House Rep and Republican Tom Tancredo's resurgent yet ultimately unsuccessful bid for governor)
US Rep Cory Gardner |
Gardner will challenge Udall for his Senate Seat.
Recent polling suggests that Udall better get himself a U-Haul, because he may be joining the rising number of Democratic US Senators thrown out of office in the 2014 cycle. Udall's chances are in such straits, he trotted out the "War on Women" card against Gardner (as though he wanted to stop all abortions), hoping that women voters in 2014 will ignore the failing economy, the poor public schooling forced on their children, the attacks on personal as well as state liberties perpetrated by the Obama Administration, along with the host of domestic failures which define the Democratic Party's dominance in Washington.
And let's not forget Obamacare, which has become a careless example of the dangers of uninhibited liberalism.
When even left-leaning Politifact slams a Democrat's smears as "not true", that liberal is looking less likely to stay in power.
Udall, time to get your U-Haul, because the voters are more likely than ever to haul you out of office come November!

The Affordable Care Act is a godsend for millions. I guess you haven't gotten that memo.
