Governor Christie made a surprise visit to Saturday Night Live.
Instead of the fat jokes, he laughed about the perennial wet, dark blue fleece on his big body. He made of his "Go New Jersey on you" temper. He made fun of the reporters and the mayors who refused to heed his evacuation orders. In 2011, he told New Jerseyans to "get the hell off the beach." This year, Superstorm Sandy did all the yelling, and still some people refused to budge.
I love that guy. He's big, his frank, not so self-conscious about his issues. No, Republicans, he's not perfect, but this pursuit of perfection drove away all the good candidates in 2011 and 2012, leaving us with those candidates who wanted to prove that they had what it would take to lead this country. They did not deliver during the primaries, and the primary winner, Mitt Romney, spent most of his time primarily proving his credentials to one group of voters while alienating everyone else.
We have for more years of Barack. I will take Governor Christie any day over the "red hot" conservatives who do not really believe in what they believe in.
I am so glad that he put aside the fat jokes. I am so glad that he ducked the question about twinkies. In a way, Romney's loss will be the GOP's gain in 2016.
And SNL played a big part in getting the big guy in Trenton to go out and fight for his party and his country.
