David Petraus Resigns

CIA Director David Petraus is resigning because of an extramarital affair.

The private moral failures of men do not imply that they cannot govern. Just because a man has engaged in marital infidelity does not therefore imply that he has no integrity left.


Instead of focusing on one man's indiscretion, let's focus on the lack of discretion or sense in our nation's foreign policy. Why are American troops still stationed in Germany or South Korea? Why do we have more forces stationed along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border than along the Southern Border of the United States?

If we want to focus on infidelities, let us focus on our political class' betrayal of the United States Constitution, expanding the growth of government while diminishing the power of the states and the prominence of the people. The real scandal begins and ends with the profligate infidelity of the political class with this country's finances and future.
