Bill Clinton was indicted for lying to a grand jury about
his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
Former Congressman Anthony Weiner took illicit videos of
himself, which forced his resignation.
US Senate candidates Todd
Akin and Richard Mourdock shared their principled pro-life positions on issues.
Their loose lips about abortion killed their campaigns.
Now the media and our federal government are delving into
the private failings of CIA director David Petraus. In spite of his personal indiscretion,
we should be celebrating his difficult tenure as Commander of our troops in
Afghanistan.
These salacious gossip stories are dysfunctional
distractions.
Doesn’t our media culture have more important issues to be
investigating, like why our troops are still fighting a losing war in the
Middle East? How about the ongoing failures of our schools with taxpayer
dollars, or the fact that a slim majority of voters chose to keep government
divided?
