President Obama is killing his own legislation, one executive order at a time.

At the outset, he honored the authority of Congress enough to repeal piecemeal his legislative ordeal.

But when it came to saving his seat in the White House, or ensuring that his party stayed in power in the US Senate, President Obama pulled out every stop, even to unilaterally writing his own law.

If he liked his legislation, then why didn't he keep it?

He promised a fixed amount, and nothing greater, in terms of costs for his health care plan.

That was a lie.

He promised that if you like your health plan, that you could keep your health plan.

Instead of people keeping their health plan, Americans are losing their coverage. From Louisiana to Michigan to California to New York, people are losing their health insurance.

Obama promised that if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.

Medical professionals are resigning their profession because of this law. Even in Massachusetts, where the original template, the blue print of Obamacare was enacted, doctors will face massive fines if they do not convert all their patients' files to electronic forms.

Now patients are discovering even when the purchase Obamacare plans, that they will not cover their surgeries or other specific operations. We have already been victimized by a tyrannical government which forces individuals to purchase something which they cannot afford, and now businesses have to provide this extra coverage which they cannot afford.

President Obama has unilaterally delayed on unseemly provision after another of his singular stupid law.

Twice he has pushed back the employer mandate. Democratic lawmakers are now pressing for an individual year delay of this awful law.

Without saying it in so many words, President Obamacare has delayed the individual mandate-tax until 2016.

How convenient, and yet how conniving, corrupt, and ultimately inconsequential/

The damage is done. Obamacare delayed has become Obamacare denied, and now this country may witness a new birth of freedom, a revolution which pushes back the federal government for the first time in decades, if not centuries.

Sink Sinks: Jolly's Win Jolly for GOP (and USA)

In a bellwether special Congressional race, a long-time aide for a long-time Congressman, a flawed (and former lobbyist) Republican  David Jolly faced off against Florida’s 2010 Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink to finish out the term of recently deceased Bill Young, who had represented the district for forty-two years, the longest serving Republican in the House of Representatives.

Pundits on both sides of the aisle considered this race as a potential harbinger for what the 2014 election turnout.

If that is the case, then the turnout is not looking good for Democrats.

Despite a Republican representative for the greater part of four decades, President Obama won the 13^th Congressional district by four points (2008) then one point (2012), as well as carrying the state. Then again, the fact that the Democratic registration was favoring Sink should have sunk the chances of Republicans capitalizing on national Democratic demagoguery sinking the liberal party.

The Democratic Party sank many times over the campaign donations into Sink's campaign, and Republican Establishment leaders were beginning to prep for an unpleasant loss for their candidate. The entrance of a third-party Libertarian candidate was not helping things for the Republican candidate, either.

Yet on election night, the media called the race for Jolly. Sink sank, and Jolly swam to victory.

What are the implications of this race?

First of all, despite the hard-pressed protestations of the Democratic Party, including Debbie Wasserman-Shultz's argument that the district would stay Republican since the seat had been a GOP mainstay for decades, Obamacare is a strong selling point for Republicans this cycle. Not one GOP vote supported the final reconciliation of Obamacare in 2010, and the bill has been nothing but a dead body dragging down the Democratic ticket.

Second of all, a third party spoiler does not have to ruin chances for the Republican opposition in key races. The Florida 13^th Congressional district race brought in big names for both sides, including former President Bill Clinton, and possible future GOP Presidential candidates Paul Ryan and US Senator Rand Paul. Paul the more libertarian candidate whipped up support for the Republican, despite Libertarian candidate Lucas Overby in the race.

This time, Senator Paul can argue that his influence helped a Republican win a seat in Congress, even if the candidate-turned-Congressman does not support all his views.

Third, the Democratic Congressional leadership, which all but announced that they were giving up on the House just to hold onto the US Senate, have more reasons to rebuff any notion that they can win back the house, and may hemorrhage  more seats. Two red state Democrats, Jim Matheson of Utah and Patrick McIntyre of North Carolina have announced their retirement, assuring that their GOP leaning districts will welcome a Republican candidate in November.

Fourth, Republicans can and should play up Obamacare’s $500 billion seizure from Medicare, which pays for the Obamacare Medicare expansions. In a district where one out of four voters is a senior, Democratic cat-calls of “GOP will toss granny off a cliff” are not going to work.

 Fifth, and this is according to Politico, the Democratic Party is not only divided on life, on liberty, on gun rights, on the role of the state regarding the invasion of our party, but the disparate, and desperate Democrats trying to salvage their reelection chances have no idea how to market the best strategy regarding Obamacare. Should they blame the President for not going far enough in demanding a single-payer system (which would only magnify the Obamacare debacle into oblivion), or should the stump the line that Obamacare is OK, just needs radical surgery?

Sink tried the second approach, and sunk, and that’s the better of the two options.

The Republicans are looking jolly good for 2014, and they can thank David Jolly’s jolly win in Florida’s 13^th Congressional District special election.

“Reverend” Jesse Jackson's Double-Standard on Racism

During a heated exchange between Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Vista) and ranking member Elijah Cummings (D-Maryland), Issa decided to adjourn as IRS official Lois Lerner refused to testify, taking the Fifth, which all but affirms that she is guilty of something, or at least hiding some incriminating information.

Rep. Cummings then requested time to ask a question, but he then developed into a series of talking points. Issa cut the mike, but Cummings refused to be quiet, shouting “I am tired of this”, then launched into a tirade, with camera shutters a fluttering to capture Cummings’s media come-on.
The Congressional Black Caucus then issued a letter to Speaker John Boehner, calling Chairman Issa “a disgrace” and demanded that the California Congressman lose his chairmanship. Even after Issa apologized, “Reverend” Al Sharpton continued to condemn Issa, saying that his apology was not enough, and Florida Democrat Debbie Wasserman-Shultz sensationalized Issa’s cutting off the mike, comparing it to the tyranny on display in Venezuela and the Ukraine.

Then the “Reverend” Jesse Jackson commented on the little committee tiff with a tweet:

Congressman Darrell Issa's behavior was crude, wrong, racist and mean towards Congressman Elijah Cummings. Do you agree?

Rev. Jackson wants to indict Issa for invidious discrimination. But what about Jackson? He has a history of uttering crude, wrong, and racist remarks. Following the Trayvon Martin murder case, in which the jury granted George Zimmerman a “Not Guilty” verdict, Jackson commented about the demonstrations and skirmishes of violence which followed:

There was this feeling that we were kind of beyond racism. That’s not true. His [whose? Obama’s] victory has triggered tremendous backlash.

Yet barely four years ago, Jackson had to apologize after a hot mike caught him saying that he would like to "cut off his [Obama] nuts" . . . then: "Barack...he's talking down to black people...telling niggers how to behave."

Wow! Jackson also neglected to mention that the white vote propelled the junior senator from Illinois into victory.

Regarding “Duck Dynasty” patriarch Phil Robertson’s comments about his experiences living and working with African-Americans, along with other comments which placed him on leave with A & E, Jackson said:

These statements uttered by Robertson are more offensive than the bus driver in Montgomery, Alabama, more than 59 years ago. At least the bus driver, who ordered Rosa Parks to surrender her seat to a white person, was following state law. Robertson’s statements were uttered freely and openly without cover of the law, within a context of what he seemed to believe was ‘white privilege.’

When Robertson returned to the program, Jackson muttered, “I do not feel good about it.”

And yet barely a month proper, reported in the National Review In November, 2013, Jackson frequently referred to the United States as “The Land of the Free, and the home of the genocide” followed by an outrageous anti-Tea Party tirade:

Those in the Confederacy sought to maintain the walls [of slavery] and secede from the country, the shots fired at Fort Sumter – the beginning of the Tea Party, the ‘Fort Sumter’ Tea Party, who sought to secede from the Union, set their own government, their own currency, sought to ally with France and Britain, to form their own country.

But the comment which followed was particularly invidious:

Goldwater and Reagan – had they been successful,” Jackson said, “it would have been illegal for blacks and whites to play together on a Saturday afternoon. You couldn’t have had the Carolina Panthers behind the cotton curtain playing the Atlanta Falcons . . . it would have been illegal for them to even sit together.

And the Reverend is calling Issa and Phil Roberston racist?

Most Americans should not feel good about such comments coming from anyone, especially a man who calls himself "Reverend".

Then again, Jackson felt entitled to call New York City  ‘Hymietown’ while campaigning for the Democratic nomination for President in 1984.

Wonder why he lost the 1984 Democratic primary bid. . .

But at least no one should wonder about Jackson’s double-standard on race-baiting and hatred.

 

Stand Your Ground, Connecticut!

Lines of law-abiding citizens forced to register their guns:
What is happening to this country?

Following the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre, in which deranged assailant Adam Lanza trespassed on a Newtown, Connecticut Elementary School, then murdered twenty-six people with an assault rifle, Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy signed into law the most restrictive gun control measures in the country, despite the fact that the governor called them common sense reforms.

Not only would the state require universal background checks, including in private sales, but future magazine rounds would be restricted, and one hundred types of assault weapons would be banned. Furthermore, gun owners would have to register their guns with the state, or face a felony charge, a fine, and jail time.

The arguments for gun control have been refuted by moral as well as statistical inquiry. To champion restricting firearms alone will not deter crime. In the case of the Newtown Massacre, for example, the gun free zone provisions for public schools have inadvertently forced school staff to leave their students as easy targets for potential assailants.

Assault weapons bans do not work, either, since the laws ultimately restrict law-abiding citizens, while the criminals and dangerous elements in society still seeking out the weapons and assault others.

Despite the rising amount of academic and empirical evidence discrediting gun control, liberal state leaders like Governor Malloy insist on political maneuvers which appease fraught and distraught marginal interests, while ignoring the true causes and best solutions for reducing gun violence.
Even though the Connecticut legislature and governor pushed the excessive measures in 2013, come 2014 and Connecticut gun owners refuse to comply. The law has entered into effect this year, and so far, tens of thousands of Connecticut residents are presumed felons because they have not yet registered their guns with the state.

Pro-Second Amendment advocacy group Connecticut Carry spread lawn signs demanding the repeal of the draconian, overreaching law. Now that they are engaging in full civil disobedience, they are pressing state lawmakers, and ultimately the police with “Molon Labe” or “Come and get it.” Another report tallies that tens of thousands are not complying with the law. The Blaze then reported that the Connecticut state agency responsible for enforcing the law has faced a hit-and-miss response from a limited number of gun owners. In some instances, the state has accepted late applications, in other cases the very residents who come forward and register their weapons find themselves targeted with more invasive scrutiny.

Gun control measures like Connecticut’s laws have failed to consider that deep-set views which gun owners have about firearms. Beyond asserting their Second Amendment authority as a matter of individual right, the recognition of government tyranny, especially in democratic states, cannot be ignored. Totalitarian regimes such as Nazi Germany instituted gun registries, then gun confiscation. Besides the argument that self-preservation is a fundamental right per natural and Common law, the ongoing power of Second Amendment activists cannot be ignored even today.

Brian Hawkins of Right Wing News has affirmed the dangerous implications of any state trying to enforce such offensive laws. So far, a federal judge has upheld Malloy’s law, yet the ruling already faces appeal. One has to wonder how much longer the mainstream media will ignore this invasion of personal liberty.

Connecticut’s law is an unconscionable and unconstitutional overreach. Let us hope that more Connecticut gun owners stand their ground.

Mayor De Blasio's Educational Blahs

New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio has declared war on people with money. He also thinks that cops should not be allowed to do their jobs, which includes preventing crime not just arresting people who commit crimes. Now he's declared war on a new enemy. Not the unborn, since that's a war he has already been waging, but on our youth, the ones whose education now determines their destiny later and their determination forever, whether for family or for country.

Like all good progressives, Mayor De Blasio blasts school choice, a fundamental tenet of individual liberty and academic growth. During his campaign for mayor, he pledged time and again that he would slow the growth of charter schools. But “slow” does not mean “stop”, and certainly does not mean “go backward.” Did he learn nothing from President Obama’s 2012 campaign? Forward, not backward.

Yet with progressives, backward is the one direction they go in, despite their most hallow protestations.

Upon entering office, De Blasio right away declared a moratorium on charters schools in New York City, even though poor and minority youth benefit from school choice, specifically when the parents can enroll their kids in schools where teachers are held to a higher standard, where they can be terminated for cause without union wrangling, and most importantly where families can choose to go somewhere else.

Next, he issued a massive transferal of funds away from future public charter schools, an attack on hundreds of thousands of children, an assault on the 99% per Eva Moskowitz, the head of Success Academy charter schools. Her rhetoric confirms the source of progressivist rage – against anyone who seeks to better himself, and without assistance from the very government which keeps young people in bondage.

Then he rescinded the application for Success Academy schools, blocking them and the students from classrooms for next fall. In another story, De Blasio claimed that charter schools operate with private donors' money. Is there something wrong with that? Furthermore, De Blasio is inadvertently exposing the statist elitism of the left, in which they desire the government to reach its control into ever facet of a citizen's life, and moreover ensure that all choice are limited or dictated by the state.

A good education is the new Civil Rights issue of our time, and De Blasio and his progressive peers are not just on the wrong side of history, but on the wrong side of reality, morality, and decency.

This kind of "Two New York" reactionary policy-making is not new, either. De Blasio and staff feel justified blowing through traffic lights and stop signs, even though ordinary New Yorkers are expected to obey the laws, and pay when they fail to.

Moskowitz has openly, heatedly, and repeatedly denounced this shameless ploy by De Blasio:

 "We need someone who will put kids ahead of politics. We are a public school. Public schools do not pay rent.”
But the future of New York City, and by extension the education of America's students, is in jeopardy as long as politicians can dictate when and where, or whether a charter school can open up and serve students still seeking a better education than provided by the neighborhood government school.

Heeding the concerns of the children (as well as corralling some respect for his authority), New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has pushed back against Mayor De Blasio's educational blather, blasting him for his blasé liberalism which places a corrupted, bankrupted ideology ahead of the students and parents of New York City.

From the New York Times, which often prints only the news that fits its liberal agenda:

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, standing shoulder to shoulder in Albany with thousands of parents and students who rallied in support of charter schools, vowed on Tuesday to defend the movement and offered a sharply different vision for their place in the educational system than Mayor Bill de Blasio’s.

“We are here today to tell you that we stand with you,” Mr. Cuomo said. “You are not alone. We will save charter schools.”

The Democratic in-fighting gets deeper, charter schools and school choice get a boost from the most unlikely of sources, a liberal Democratic Governor in a very liberal state, and socialist-liberal mayor Bill De Blasio gets the political blues because his socialist-liberalism is checked once again.
Never pick a fight over what’s best for the kids, for even Democrats have enough heart to do what’s best for their own kids. When will Blah-Blah De Blasio ever learn?

Rep. Cummings' Mouth Needs to Be Closed

The IRS targeted conservative groups, according to a rising number of allegations, and especially during the 2012 election.

The FBI began investigating these invasive measures.

Key words like "Tea Party" singled out groups for further scrutiny.

There is plenty to fear from a growing government which seeks to silence individuals and private interest groups

Other reports have highlighted that IRS officials were demanding to know the contents of certain groups prayers, then withholding their taxation status.

The fact these incrimination occurred during the 2012 President election is especially disconcerting.

Now, Cummings has called out IRS wasteful spending before.

However, Cummings has stepped in the way of Oversight Committee investigations before.

While Chairman Darrell Issa was trying to get information on Operation Fast and Furious, the Assistant Attorney General Robert Welch offered nothing but plain papers covered in black ink.
After Issa demanded answers, Cummings attempt to apologize for the Committee. Issa rebuked his arrogant effort, and forced him to rephrase.

The House Oversight Committee has discovered one scandal after another from Fast and Furious to Benghazi, to IRS intimidation.

Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pennsylvania) expressed the concerns of more Americans, who already fear the IRS, and the resigning official shrugged instead of evincing any outrage. Instead of sharing the concerns of the American taxpayers, Elijah Cummings wants to diminish the seriousness of this investigation outright.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) stood up to Cummings, and called him out for trying to end this investigation:

"If we did what the ranking member wanted us to do, this thing would be over. 'Nothing here. Don't do it.'"

Chaffetz then pointed out that during the hearing, the spokesperson for the President identified rogue gents involved, yet she had no power to stop them.

"When the ranking member suggested on national television and said that this case should be closed. That's wrong!

Cummings wanted to respond, arguing that Chaffetz was playing off mere talking points. The young Congressman fired back:

"To suggest that there just talking points, these are not just talking points."

In January this year, Cummings tried to tie up one IRS Commissioner, pushing the notion that his story about a list of targeted groups was or was not serious.

Later, Cummings slammed True the Vote in February this year, claiming that the non-partisan group was targeting minority communities in order to discourage their vote.

Cummings will stop at nothing to discredit anyone who is calling out the IRS scandal.

True the Vote's representative Katherine Engelbrecht responded effectively that her organization trains vote watching, but does not send individuals to different polling stations.

Despite True the Vote's intentions and actions, Cummings was playing the race card in a hollow attempt to smear her and other citizens complaining about the unethical targeting conducted by the IRS.

Then Engelbrecht fought back, and filed a formal ethical complaint against Cummings. She indicted the Congressman for sending three letters, claiming that he was launching an investigation into the interest group. Cummings never contacted her, yet pushed a defame-campaign to try and stop her.

Just this past week, Chairman Darrell Issa wanted information from the head of the IRS Division which was targeting conservative groups. Following her counsel's office, Lois Lerner plead the Fifth Amendment.

For the record, she has done this before. In this hearing, Committee member Trey Gowdy (R-South Carolina) slammed her for making assertions that she did nothing wrong, then plead the Fifth when under cross examination. She could have remained silent, but she needed to say nothing from both sides.

Now back to last week.

Lerner declined to answer any questions. The Chairman recognized that the Committee would get not information

"I have no expectation that Ms. Lerner will cooperate with this committee," Issa observed.

The Committee was adjourned, but Cummings kept it coming.

"I have a statement. I have a procedural question."

Either he has a statement or a question. He tried to grandstand to the cameras, but Issa cut off the mike.

His outrageous display was disgraceful.

Cummings then began scolding the Chairman, that brokering and adjournment was wrong, that "we are better than that as a country." Issa was willing to grant him time, but he insisted on arguing instead of asking a question.

He then clamored "I am tired of this! You cannot have this one-sided investigation."

This outburst came from the Congressman who had declared that "this case is closed." This coming from a Congressman who laments all the money that is lost every year, that his constituents do not even make $50,000 a year, yet witness tens of thousands wasted in IRS follies. This coming from a Congressman who then claims that there is no scandal, no crime, no fraud, no political intimidation when the IRS demands specifics from non-profits, predominantly conservative, who are seeking exemption status.

Congressman Cummings' mouth needs to be closed, because the IRS-gate case is far from closed.

What About Donna's Story, Senator Reid?

Donna Marzullo denounces
President Obama's "If you like, then you can keep" Promise:
"That just wasn't true!"

Donna Marzullo of Deering, New Hampshire also lost her health insurance because of Obamacare.

Along with Julie Boonstra of Michigan and Emilie Lamb of Tennesee, Ms. Murzullo is not afraid to take her story to the airwaves.

At least her Congresswoman, Annie Kuster, has not tried to intimidate her and New Hampshire television stations from telling the truth about her plight.

Congresswoman Kuster has just as much to worry about as does President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

New Hampshire is the most swing of swing states, one where the Republicans took both House seats in 2010, then lost them to Democrats in 2012, and the Democrats may lose them again in 2014. A state which Bush won in 2000, the state has trended Democratic in Presidential elections, yet elected a Republican US Senator, Kelly Ayotte, in 2010 as well.

Ms. Marzullo's plan was one among 22,000 plans cancelled throughout New Hampshire.

On top of that, she's worried that she may lose her doctor, too, along with the hospital of her choice.  Her complaint about losing her hospital is a very real concern, one which the mainstream media has all but ignored. Private hospitals are refusing Obamacare insurance, for example, while local clinics are rationing their human and material resources, if they even manage to stay open in spite of the red tape, regulatory burdens, and unconscionable costs associated with Obamacare.

Marzullo repeated the lie, that President Obama promised that under the Affordable Care Act, if Americans liked their health insurance or their doctor, they could keep them:

"That just wasn't true."

Ms. Marzullo could not have put it better.

Yet what did Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid say on the floor of the US Senate?

"Despite all that good news, there's plenty of horror stories being told. All of them are untrue, but they're being told all over America."

Wrong, Senator Reid. Wrong.

What about Donna's story, Senator Reid?

Democratic lawmakers throughout the country cannot run away from Obamacare. They want to plead their willingness to reform the law, yet every time that Republican majority sought to repeal the law, most Democrats resisted the effort. During the 2013 government shutdown, House members tried to pass delays on the individual mandate, or require that members of Congress enroll under the same plans. Democrats in the House joined with these Republican reforms, including Tammy Duckworth (Illinois) and Raul Ruiz (California).

No matter what Democrats running for office may say this election year, they cannot claim that they did not foresee the disastrous consequences of passing Obamacare, and they cannot claim that they were willing to work with their colleagues in Washington to reform, amend, or even repeal Obamacare.

So, what about Donna's story, Senator Reid? Are you calling her a liar, too?

State Sen. Lieu: Wrong to Say Nothing About Wright

Last month, a Los Angeles jury found State Senator Roderick Wright (D-Inglewood) guilty of eight counts of felony voter fraud and perjury.

In 2010, LA prosecutors had sought an indictment against Wright because he did not live at the address listed on his voter registration. State law requires that every state legislator live in the district that he/she represents. Because of the false address on his registration, he committed perjury and voted fraudulently in five elections.

Residency requirements are a serious matter in California, specifically Los Angeles politics. An LA City Councilman faced similar charges, and the LA County District Attorney investigated residency accusations against a Hermosa Beach city councilmember.


So, Wright has been found in the wrong, declared guilty of voter fraud by a jury of his peers, and awaits sentencing. Wright's legal team has vowed to file an appeal, yet Wright at this time remains a convicted felon.

To add insult to indictment and conviction, Wright attempted to introduce a bill which would reduce non-violent felonies to misdemeanors, two days after he was convicted of eight felony counts himself! Even though the convicted state senator claimed that he did not introduce the bill to save himself the humiliation of being barred from pursuing elected office in the past, the legislation would have indeed softened the blow of his eight felony counts to misdemeanors. Wright's outrageous move did not escape State Senate President Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento), and Wright pulled his bill. "Wrong author, wrong time," shared Steinberg's spokesman.

Of course, Steinberg's disapproval does not mean that the Democratic Supermajority will not consider the bill at a later time. What's more disturbing, Steinberg has done nothing to have convicted felon Steinberg expelled from the state senate. As of now, only three Republican lawmakers have called on the upper chamber to move for Wright's expulsion, as well as independent candidate for Secretary of State David Schnurr. While Steinberg has asserted that since an appeal will render a final determination, the state senate will wait before proceeding. The state senate President has even justified leaving Wright on committee assignments.

 

Is this the proper precedent for handling felonious legislators?

In 1994, state senator Frank Hill (R-Whittier) was convicted of non-violent felonies (soliciting a bribe from an undercover agent). Hill stopped voting on bills and stepped down from his committee assignments after his conviction. After that, the state senate government committee voted 4-0 to expel him after the guilty verdict. Why is the state senate stalling this time?

The San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Daily News (whose owner includes the Daily Breeze), and the Inland Empire’s Press-EnterpriseEditorial Boards have all called for Wright’s resignation or expulsion from the state senate.

And who has not? State senator Ted Lieu (D-Torrance), who has recently announced his candidacy for the Congressional seat opened up following Congressman Henry Waxman’s decision to retire from Congress. Senator Lieu has a remarkable legislative record for protecting bears from hunting dogs, preventing adolescents from using tanning salons, and microchipping pets. He attempted triple the state’s licensing fee, has sided with public sector unions, even voted against the state senate bill which would expedite the termination of teachers guilt of moral turpitude against their students.

And now Lieu has said nothing about his convicted felon colleague Roderick Wright. After contacting his Sacramento office, Lieu’s office has confirmed that he issued no press released.
Lieu is wrong to say nothing about Wright, and he should the right the wrong of his silence by joining the editorial boards of statewide newspapers and the Republicans in his caucus to demand that Senator Wright resign from office or move to expel him through committee resolution.

Contact State Senator Lieu’s office, and tell him to stop being silent. Demand that he demand the resignation or expulsion of convicted felon Roderick Wright from the California State Senate.

The Koch Brothers: Charles and David

The Koch Brothers are the greatest evil since the Death Star and Darth Vader, according to most entrenched and committed liberals in the United States.

They represent everything that is wrong with democracy and capitalism.

They are two old white men from Kansas with a lot of money, and a libertarian streak which rubs liberals, progressives, and statists the wrong way.

The New Yorker published an article declaring "The Koch Brothers' War with Obama".

The first picture caption of the article reads:

David H. Koch in 1996. He and his brother Charles are lifelong libertarians and have quietly given more than a hundred million dollars to right-wing causes.

Libertarianism is on the rise, from the decriminalization of controlled substances like marijuana, to the expansion of concealed carry laws, to the tax cut and spending restraints in statehouses throughout the country.

Libertarianism is on the rise, and not a moment too soon, since President Obama is more like the Evil Empire of Star Wars mythology, expanding a death-like grip of more government and greater regulations over all Americans.

One quote from the New Yorker article cannot be ignored:

Rob Stein, a Democratic political strategist who has studied the conservative movement’s finances, said that the Kochs are “at the epicenter of the anti-Obama movement. But it’s not just about Obama. They would have done the same to Hillary Clinton. They did the same with Bill Clinton. They are out to destroy progressivism.”

Sources suggest, however, that the Koch Brothers were trying to take over the Cato Institute, a well-known and well-respected libertarian Washington think-tank. The New York Times reports that the research institute fought to retain its political independence. The Koch Brothers dropped two lawsuits, and one of the leaders at odd with the brothers resigned. The LA Times advanced the same conspiracy arguments about the Koch Brothers taking over the Cato Institute. Any sense of political connections is nothing but bad news. Think tanks by their very existence must seek information before promoting advocacy of any kind.

The Times quoted this statement from Charles Koch:

"I have every confidence that John's leadership will enable Cato to reach new levels of effectiveness. The alarming increase in the size and scope of government is undermining freedom, opportunity and prosperity for all. Effective action is required to limit government to its proper role.

The Koch Brothers maintain a strong libertarian streak, and their connection with the libertarian Washington think tank is nothing unusual.

God bless the Koch Brothers. They know when to call it quits. Donald Trump also felt the blow of individual rights, which trump corporate and self-interest. The Donald tried to acquire an old lady's home through eminent domain. A judge stuck down his land grab. Fine and good. If the Koch Brothers were rebuffed from taking over a think-tank, then what is everyone afraid of?

Congressman Henry Waxman slammed the Koch Brothers by arguing that the Koch Brothers' influence in Congress was hurting the rest of the country. Waxman criticized Koch Industries for science denial, partisanship, and the rising power of special interests. Waxman then denounced the Koch Brothers because they would profit from the rollback of EPA regulations.

Congressman Waxman has been dishonoring science, hyping up climate change as a serious issue, even though the growing academic consensus disputes climate change as a serious, let alone manmade matter. Waxman's ruthless pursuit to expand the federal government at the expense of the United States Constitution, the power of the several states, and the rights and authorities of individual Americans, is the more lethal threat which voters need to pay attention to

Frankly, the vast majority if Americans would profit from not just the rollback but the demise of the sclerotic, frustrating, hyper-bureaucratic EPA, which has made it nearly impossible for businesses to expand, and even legitimate homeowners to build on their own property.

The Koch Brothers also support the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, as do other business interests, labor groups, and even the State Department, which has found that the pipeline would have a minimal adverse effect on the environment. Henry Waxman criticized their interest in the project.

At the time that Congress was investigating whether to approve the project or not, the now retiring Congressman was looking for any strawmen to distract detractors from his decades of crony political maneuvering, along with the ongoing failures of Obamacare, Cap and Trade, and the failure of nineteen green tech companies: "I'm sorry Solyndra happened."

Despite Waxman's attempt to draw the Koch Brothers into a Committee-subpoena drama, Waxman retracted his outrageous claims of cronyism.

The same LA Times which insists on drawing the Koch Brothers into the miasma of political contributions and corruptions, none of which is substantiated, is going bankrupt. While Congressman Henry Waxman demanded information from the publisher and leaders of the company regarding the slagging fate of the newspaper, the Koch Brothers considered purchasing the newspaper and reviving its coverage. With their conservative understanding of how business and markets work, plus their appreciate for libertarian values, their leadership of the paper would have saved the moribund publication, as only conservative and right-leaning media sights are surviving and thriving, while left-leaning newspapers and radio stations are falling away or closing down altogether.

Ultimately, the Koch Brothers decided not to buy the LA Times, because they did not see the paper as  a worthy investment. If they had purchased the paper, they might have revived real truth and accuracy in reporting to counteract the unrepentant and irresponsible liberal bent of the mainstream media. By choosing not to purchase the paper, the brothers further consigned the LA Times to its disintegrating irrelevance as a trusted or respectable news source.

The influence not just of the Koch Brothers, but a growing resurgence for freedom from Big Government, has drawn the ire of embattled and embittered Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. During the October 2013 government shutdown, the Nevada senator blamed the oil magnates for instigating the stand-still in Washington.

Reid thundered on the billionaires:

"By shutting down the government, and that's what happened, we're satisfying the Koch brothers and Ed Meese, but millions of people in America are suffering,"

Reid's comments better describe the deleterious effects of President Obama and the Democrat Party's policies on the American people, especially Obamacare.

Refusing to endure these infantile attacks, the Koch Brothers punched back:

“A great deal of what you read and hear about Koch Industries is erroneous or misleading,” wrote Philip Ellender, the president of government and public affairs at Koch, in a letter to senators on Wednesday.
Besides, where were the Democrats in the US Senate, when the Republican leadership in the House was ready to meet in a conference and discuss a comprehensive compromise which would have satisfied both sides, and more importantly the American People, who did not want a shutdown, and they did not want Obamacare.

Not content to blast them over the shutdown, which he instigated, Reid has recently blasted them with the hollow slander that they were "un-American" for a series of anti-Obamacare ads.

The Americans for Prosperity are producing and disseminating these ads, with the financial help of the Koch Brothers. These advertisements feature individual Americans who have lost their health insurance or pay higher premiums because of Obamacare. People throughout the country are suffering because of Obamacare. Any person, any agency who will take the time and trouble to take to task Congress, specifically President Obama and every legislator who supported  Obamacare deserves all the support and praise one can muster.

If the Koch Brothers have advanced the cause of #MakeDCListen, if they are investing their funds to bring down liberal-elitist statist, government overreach, then they have nothing to be ashamed of as left-leaning news sites, think tanks, and talking heads reproach them.

Anyone who attacks Obama, Obamacare, and Obamanomics with such concentrated force and faithfulness is not an enemy, is not un-American, but very much American, and embodies all that makes this country great: free markets, free enterprise, free people, the rule of law, the respect for the individual.

What About Emilie's Story, Mr. President?

Emilie Lamb of Tennessee has lupus, and because of Obamacare, she does not have enough money to live and care for herself while paying for her health care.

Politifact for Tampa Bay, Florida more accurately depicts the Americans for Prosperity as:'

the conservative advocacy group supported by Charles and David Koch.

Supported, not bought and owned, not sucked into a crony capitalist, corporate world.

Now, back to Americans for Prosperity, and their campaign ads against Obamacare.

These are effective and poignant, cutting to the deepest part of the viewer.

Obamacare is hurting real people. This disastrous law, from rollout to rollover, has done the exact opposite of what it promised: unaffordable, inaccessible, protecting no one but the bureaucrats who will keep their jobs, whether the websites work or not, whether people get better health care or not, whether the health care industry suffers, and doctors give up their practice, and the quality of medical coverage suffers.

Here's Emilie's story:

"I thought that Obamacare was going to be a good thing. Barack Obama told us we could keep our health insurance if we liked it. And we can’t. I got a letter in the mail saying that my health insurance was over, that it was gone, it was canceled because of Obamacare. My premiums went from $52 a month to $373 a month. I’m having to work a second job to pay for Obamacare."

Working a second job just to pay for Obamacare? It's more like Obama-don't-care, as glib critics have shared over and over. Except that not only does Obama not care, but average, working Americans now have more cares, financial as well as emotional, because of this arrogant, over-aggrandized intervention of the federal government into the health care industry.

Politifact offered the following analysis of the AFP ad:

We don’t dispute Lamb’s troubles and we certainly don’t wish to diminish her plight. We’re not fact-checking her account or putting her on our Truth-O-Meter. Instead, we wanted to explore the issues that her story raises.

Alright, then. So what did Politifact find? The article spends more time defining lupus, how people suffer from the autoimmune disease, and the average costs which individual suffers usually face.
Politifact then questions Emilie about why she sought other plans, when she could have chosen a plan with a lower deductible, but would have had higher out-of-pocket costs.

The left-leaning fact-checkers are bending over backwards to defend Obama, Obamacare, and the aggressive expansion of the federal government into the health care industry.

Men and women are taking to the airwaves sharing their frustration and disgust with President Obama and his failed promises, or rather "Lie of the Year" as declared by Politifact in 2013. Instead of questioning them, the mainstream media needs to acknowledge that President Obama's legislation has been a massive failure, and needs to be repealed.

What about Emilie's story, Mr. President? Even Politifact had to acknowledge that they cannot spin the numbers, the pain and suffering, and the current failure of the current administration to help provide quality health care at an affordable price.

What about Emilie? Is her story negligible, too? Or is her horror story not true, either, Senator Reid?
