Being a good student made me a bad human being.
Being a good student meant that I was one who would play by
the rules, instead of playing out he
life in me.
Being a good student meant that as long as life was a test,
or a set of instructions, then everything would be just fine.
Then I saw the sophomores in high school. My English
teacher, Ms. P, was a real uptight broad, and the athletes loved to torture
her.
They would take her chair and roll down the hallway with it.
They would provoke her to her face every day. She would make silly noises to
belittle another student, then they would make fun of her.
She was a really bad teacher, and the students took
advantage of her every way that they could.
Once, she got so mad, she through the book off of one
student’s desk, yelled at the whole class, then sat in a huff for the rest of the class, no one said a
word, and she even threatened to throw kids out of class. They really pushed
her buttons that day, and as a result we all suffered for it.
She refused to stand up to those students when they were
rude to others, it was just terrible.
Then the next week, she gave the entire class the hardest test
ever, which everyone failed except for the same students who gave her such a
hard time.
She was a bad teacher, and they were bad students, and now I
realize, that being a bad student is the real way to go in this life! She did not teach so much as rant, and the students who were not just intelligent but creative, like those kids, refused to put up with the nonsense.
Albert Einstein, who failed math as a kid, later said:
"Imagination is more important than knowledge."
That's the way it needs to be. It reminds me of another word:
"Beloved, I wish above
all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul
prospereth." (3 John 2)
Prosperity is a matter of walking in the Truth, not just about knowing more things. Paul indict men in the latter days:
"Ever learning, and
never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." (2 Timothy 3: 7)
Be a good human being -- seek His righteousness, receive His life, and the good will hunt you down (
Psalm 23: 6)
Psalm 23: 6)
