The United States is burdened by an immense national debt, with trillion dollar annual deficits.
Job growth is still anemic, despite the recent official headline that the national unemployment has declined considerably. This is mere media spin, for the numbers have been influenced by the surge in temporary seasonal employment coupled with the sobering reality that more people have given up looking for work.
The President of the United has given up on governing (not that he has demonstrated any sound or competent leadership to begin with), and has shifted in 24-7 campaign mode.
And for all the economic, domestic, and foreign concerns that this country is facing, the federal government wants to regulate -- cellphones?
Indeed, driving while talking, clicking, and texting is extremely dangerous, but do the American people really want the federal police power invading the privacy of our motor vehicles?
State institutions like the DMV fare so poorly as it is, and the process of licensing and insuring has become complex to the point of prolixity, do we really want to add another level of bureaucracy to the regulation of transportation?
The Feds need to go after terrorists in our midst, not profligate cellphone users at the wheel.
