The Depths of God's Forgiveness Part II

So, from the redemption we receive from all sins through Christ's blood, this is the greatest gift accorded to mankind, a gift that never stops giving:

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

"Cleanses" is in the present tense, signifying to any who doubt that the once-and-for-all sacrifice of Christ at the Cross continuously cleanses us, forever! Whatever sins we have committed, are committing, or ever will commit, have been wiped away forever! No more record of sin!

The writer of Hebrews confirms this:

"For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." (Hebrews 8:12)

This reading is confirmed in two other passages, well-known and often quoted, yet unfortunately overlooked for the eternal power brought to us in the shed blood of Christ:

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8:1)

That's it, it is all finally, no condemnation whatsoever for those who are in Christ Jesus. None! Staggering but true, for as each of has declared that Jesus Christ is Lord, we are one with Him in high places, forever. Paul confirms this later in the same chapter:

"Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

"Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8: 37-39)

Nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate us from the love of God, not even our own sin!

If that were not enough, we are not just identified with Christ, but with his perfect standing:

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (2 Corinthians 5:21)

You are a "servant of righteousness" (cf Romans 6: 15-18), which is better rendered "slave", not to emphasize the effort which one must exert in order to achieve righteousness, for it is a gift (cf Romans 5:17). Instead, our status or "righteous" cannot be removed, cannot be lost, cannot be revoked. In a sense, you are stuck with being righteous in Christ, once you believe, and there is nothing you can do about it. And what a glorious, eternally blessed confinement!
