Do you fear for the future?
Do you not know that the One whom you believe in holds the future?
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2)
Jesus is the First and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega. He sees everything before, during, and after.
And he cares for you!
Jesus declares the boundless, infinite supply Love of the Father to all in the Sermon on the Mount:
"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" (Matthew 6:26)
and
"And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
"And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
"Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?" (Matthew 6: 28-30)
If God cares for the least of his creatures, will he not care for you and me? He takes care of them from beginning to end -- they neither toil, fret, or suffer lack. Then why should we?
I used to think, "Well, God supplies the bird their food, but they have to go out and get it." This cynical notion betrays the infinite supply of the Lord for His creation. The birds of the air and the flowers of the field do not have to sweat, labor, or toil for their needs. God has designed every bird and flower to do by its nature what it must do to get what it needs. God supplies us with His wisdom and power and direction through the Holy Spirit. As we walk in concert with the indwelling, neverending work of the Holy Spirit, God is ever leading us where we need to go and getting us to do what He wants us to do! We do not have to puzzle about in our minds: "What should I be doing?"
Jesus told us what to do:
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." (Matthew 6:33 -34)
We must recognize that Jesus delivered this sermon before He died on the Cross; therefore, He was not glorified yet, and the Holy Spirit was not released to the world.
Yet with the indwelling Holy Spirit, we have the Kingdom of Heaven NOW within us!
"For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." (Romans 14:17)
We do not need to seek food and drink, for even those elements will not supply our eternal need. The Kingdom of Heaven is righteousness:
"21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (2 Corinthians 5:21)
As for peace and joy, look no further than the fruit of the Spirit:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
"Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." (Galatians 5: 22-23)
God supplies right standing, all the supply for all of or needs (for peace speaks not just of inner peace, but of outer needs, as well), and joy, which is out strength in the Lord!
Because we walk in the Spirit, we do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh -- we do not have to worry about sin or about sinning, because as long as we allow the Holy Spirit to flow in our lives by faith, God is working out His will which He has already worked in!
He takes care of us from beginning to end -- we have nothing to take care of, clean up, fix, or fuss about in the future.
The Kingdom of Heaven covers us -- the Great I AM takes care of us, and takes care of everything for us!
So, do not worry about your life, or the future! He's got it, just as He has you!
