The Rule for Righteousness Radicals - Believe!

Saul Alinksy and the American Left (Source: Dancing Czars)
Embittered communist academic Saul Alinksy penned the Community Organizing training manual Rules for Radicals.

The principles he laid down for community organization and political action hinged a relentless onslaught of attacks and shame, with no stopping. Break the rules, antagonize your foes, and have as much fun as possible doing it.

The process was what matter. Be unprincipled as a matter of principle.

The Chicago thug-academic (whose teachings would instructor another academic-thug named Barack Obama) understood something deep and compelling about human nature -- man's need for acceptance and fear of shame-reproach-rejection are stronger than his adherence to any code or creed, or his dedication to the truth.

Need proof of this?

The Stanley Milgram experiments on Obedience and Conformity confirmed that a man's allegiance will ultimately shape whether the does the right thing or the wrong thing when pressured to do what he is told.

That need for acceptance, that need for righteousness, that need to be OK in one's mind is so crucial to a man, that he will give up just about anything else to attain, maintain, or retain it.

What does this discussion have to do with Saul Alinksy, though?

His book Rules for Radicals was dedicated to the first rebel, Lucifer.

Really?!

Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very
first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to
know where mythology leaves off and history begins—or which is which),
the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and
did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom—Lucifer.
—SAUL ALINSKY

Lucifer, or Satan, is known as the Accuser of the Brethren, who would go before God in times past (Job 1-2) and show God that man is all wrong and deserves nothing good from God.

Check out this scene in Zechariah:

1And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. 2And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? 3Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. 4And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. 5And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.
First of all, Saul was all wrong. (Zechariah 3: 1-5)

Instead or arguing with Satan, the Lord rebuked him, then clothed Joshua in a  new robe, which represents God's righteousness.

"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels." (Isaiah 61:10)

This prophecy references what the Messiah Jesus Christ does for all who believe on Him

The answer to sin and shame in our lives, or the attacks of men, is never to justify ourselves or try to live up to the rules:

"Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:" (Romans 5: 20)

Instead of trying to escape from a dead-in-trespasses state (Genesis 3: 8-10), man has the greater opportunity to reign in life -- in this life, through Christ Jesus:

"15But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 16And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. 17For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ." (Romans 5: 15-17)

So, in Christ we can receive an everlasting kingdom and kinship!

Now, back to this Satan fellow whom Saul Alinksy unseemingly esteems . . .

What kingdom that Lucifier, or more appropriately Satan, won was short-lived.

From the Bible:

14And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Genesis 3: 14-15)

The woman's seed foretold the virgin birth of the Perfect Savior, who would save man from his sin and make him a son of the living God:

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1: 12)

Jesus then declared the following:

"Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out." (John 12: 31)

Lucifer was a loser from the moment that he rebelled against God, by the way:

9Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
10All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?
11Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
12How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners? (Isaiah 14:9-17)

So, let us recap, in case anyone has neglected the major them: Saul Alinsky dedicated his book about community organizing to. .. . the biggest loser who ever existed.

Wow. That's just sad.

So, righteous radicals, right away you have nothing to fear from "the Left" -- they are left with Lose-ifer as their icon.

Now, the antidote to the attacks of the Enemy is to know that every claim against man has been answered forever in Christ Jesus:

13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2: 13-15)

All our sins, and our sin, are paid for full and forever in Christ.

But notice that other part, about enemies spoiled, or disarmed.

What is Satan's tool? God's Ten Commandments.

Sounds crazy, does it not? But look throughout the New Testament, and from Romans 7 to Ephesians 2 to the entire book of Galatians you find that the Holy Spirit ministers to us that the law was meant to show us as completely dead and lost on our own, that we need Life and that More Abundantly: Jesus! (John 10:10; 14: 6)

If you receive the grace of God in full  measure, you find that Saul Alinksy and his "radicalism" is just a sad form of rule keeping.

God wants to lead each of us intimately, inwardly!

"
10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. (Hebews 8: 10-12)

What makes this New Covenant work? His righteousness, in that our sins are put away forever:

"14In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee." (Isaiah 54: 14)

Keep receiving God's gift of righteousness and abundance of grace with it (Romans 5: 17), which we have because we are in Christ, more than conquerors (Romans 8: 37) and before God we are as He is (1 John 4: 17)

When this is fully established in your mind, guess what happens!

"17No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD." (Isaiah 54: 17)

Beloved in Christ (and for those of you who do not know or believe on Him), there is only one rule, so to speak, that you need to keep in order to be a righteous radical:

"Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." (John 6: 29)

Receive His righteousness and His grace.

But what if the Enemy or the enemies attack?

"9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." (2 Corinthians 12: 9-10)

More grace for you, righteous radical in Christ.

See? Lose-ifer is a total loser, and every time that he and the enemies he works through attack you -- you get more blessings!

Lose-ifer, the Left, the lunacy of modern liberalism - they are all losers!

In Christ you are a righteous overcoming more than conqueror!

And you don't have to keep rules - let the Ruler keep you!

Always late to the game, Arthur is still obsessed--just like Newt Gingrich and a bunch of other right-wing losers--with Saul Alinsky. Arthur may also be searching the Internet for mood rings and Cabbage Patch dolls, too!

Rather than torture yourself by reading Arthur's incoherent ramblings, learn something and take a look back (the only direction of which Arthur is aware) at 2012 with a real writer: Thomas Sugrue's "Saul Alinsky--The Activist Who Terrifies the Right": http://www.salon.com/2012/02/07/saul_alinsky_the_activist_who_terrifies_the_right/

  3. "Break the rules, antagonize your foes, and have as much fun as possible doing it." Doesn't sound very "embittered" to me, but you sure as hell do!
