Cities throughout the state of California are burdened by
unfunded or underfunded pension obligations.
Vallejo, then
Stockton, Mammoth Lakes, and now San Bernardino have gone bankrupt-- When will this insanity
stop?
Now Berkeley and Oakland are facing billions of dollars in
liabilities. When will the public sector unions in the Bay area put the needs
of the public ahead of the union and free up negotiations for health plans and
pension funding?
When will the leaders in Sacramento demand not just pension
reform but also limits on the collective bargaining rights of Big Labor? How
about curbing the cowardice of our city
councils? So what if police, fire, and public workers go on strike? Call
in the national guard to the work if necessary, just like Massachusetts
Governor Calvin Coolidge in 1919!
