Judges 18 -- More "Right in One's Eyes" Gone Wrong

Unbelievable yet true, the tribe of Dan -- whose name means "To Judge" -- was still seeking an inheritance.

This is a picture of believers who are still wandering, trying to find and get for themselves when God so freely gives all things through His Son!

Furthermore, the tribe of Dan did receive an inheritance:

"40And the seventh lot came out for the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families. 41And the coast of their inheritance was Zorah, and Eshtaol, and Irshemesh, 42And Shaalabbin, and Ajalon, and Jethlah, 43And Elon, and Thimnathah, and Ekron, 44And Eltekeh, and Gibbethon, and Baalath, 45And Jehud, and Beneberak, and Gathrimmon, 46And Mejarkon, and Rakkon, with the border before Japho. 47And the coast of the children of Dan went out too little for them: therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and dwelt therein, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father. 48This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families, these cities with their villages." (Joshua 19: 40-48)

How sad that the children of Israel were still hunting, seeking for the land which God gave them! Joshua was written generations before the account in Judges.

"26And the children of Dan went their way: and when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house. " (Judges 18: 26)

In this fallen world, might has become the arbiter of right, which is the inevitable result for every person in this world who seeks to prosper in his own efforts, not relying by faith in the Power and Love of God the Father.

How many people in this world are like Micah, especially in the Body of Christ? Men and women who are beset with cares, convinced that they are all alone in the world, that they have to make their gods, go through the motions of religion, and try to please God through their own efforts?

Do you live in judgment? Do you feel that God is angry with you, and that you must have the right standing, hire the right people, have the right articles and actions in order to be accepted before God?

Receive the Truth, that in Christ, all of your sins are forgiven (Colossians 2: 13), that we have peace with God through Christ (Romans 5: 1), and that in Christ you are reconciled with God (2 Corinthians 5: 19)
